Tellusian - Collision

Tellusian is a technical and prog-ish grindocre band from Sweden, that rose-up from the ashes of Crowpath. Tellusian came together in 2010 in the city of Malmö, Sweden. John Rönnerblad (Guitars) and Erik Hall (Drums) had been jamming around for a while, and after the demise of Crowpath the ideas of turning Tellusian into a proper "active" band started to grow. Robert Fuchs was added on bass and Henrik Ivarsson stepped in on vocals. A few demos was recorded and a split 7" with Chicagos The Swan King was released through Hell Comes Home in 2012 followed by the Scania 7" in 2013. Here they are in 2014 and the fist fullenght, Collision.

Todays tune is the title track taken from "Collision" full-length (2014 - Pillowscars), enjoy!

Uriah Heep - One Minute

Uriah Heep, one of the pivotal hard rock groups to emerge from England in the late 1960s returns with Outsider, its 24th studio album, and the first since 2011’s critically acclaimed Into the Wild album. Outsider will be released on June 6th in Europe on Frontiers Records.

“We are very proud of our history” says founder/guitarist Mick Box, “but it is equally important to keep producing new material. This new album, Outsider, is very much a rock album in true 'Heep' style. It shows that we still have the same passion and energy for our music that we have always had.”

From the opening chords of the album’s hard driving rocker, “Speed of Sound”, to the more introspective closer, “Say Goodbye”, Outsider proves that Uriah Heep has remained a musical powerhouse, and one that can effectively balance its legendary sound with a distinctly contemporary approach. The record, which was produced by Mike Paxman (Asia, Status Quo), also introduces bassist Dave Rimmer, who joined the band last summer after the untimely death of long time member, Trevor Bolder.

Says Box of his late friend, Bolder: “We lost a world class bass player, singer, songwriter and friend. While Trevor was ill, he wanted us to continue working, so we used a bass player called Dave Rimmer, who Trevor approved of. It was only natural that Dave carried on with the band.”

After major tours of Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and South America, upon the release of Outsider, Uriah Heep will launch a world tour that will take in many continents as the band promotes the new album to an eager international audience.

Formed in London in 1969 by guitarist Mick Box and late singer David Byron as “Spice”, the group evolved into Uriah Heep (the name was taken from a character in Charles Dickens’ novel David Copperfield) when they began conceptualizing the first record. The album Very ‘eavy, Very ‘umble, launched the band’s distinct sound in 1970, one that was built around layered harmony vocals, swirling keyboards, and heavy guitar riffs. Current lead singer Bernie Shaw and keyboardist Phil Lanzon have been ever present since the mid 1980s, and drummer Russell Gilbrook joined Uriah Heep in 2007.

The band's repertoire features hits over five decades from the 70s through to the present day including tracks such as; “Gypsy”, “ Easy Livin'”, “July Morning”, “Look At Yourself”, “Stealin’” and “Lady in Black”, which went to #1 in Germany on three different occasions, and once stayed at #1 for 6 months. They have gone on to sell 40 million records, and have toured globally for 5 decades, visiting no less than 56 countries, headlining numerous festivals and arena tours, including being the first western rock band to play Russia, in 1987. Founder Mick Box has remained throughout.

Trakdor - Dealer of the Hidden Hand

Trakdor is a Hard rocking band from Sundsvall Sweden. Formed in 2008 and released their debut album in 2013.

The band plays a heavy and very blues-based hard rock. The production breathes very 70's and sounds very comfortable but a bit muddy. Joakim Nordlander who has a delightfully drawling voice does a really good job behind the microphone and his team mates surrounds him with a great landscape of melodies and musical vibrations.

Trakdor consists of:

Joakim Nordlander - Vocals
Henning Johansson - Bass
Tobias Dahlberg - Drums
Martin Flodin - Guitars
Oskar Nilsson - Guitars

Todays tune is the fairest swinging "Dealer of the hidden hand" taken from the self titled debut album, enjoy!

Stratus - Riddle for the Ages

Time flies, it's monday again and that means it's time to reveal this week's "Record Of The Week"

Today we have a record named "Stratology" from a Swedish gang that originates from Örebro.

Stratology it's a classic Hard Rock album with a great swing.  It's a very groovy record with cool slightly psychedelic riffs that makes you dance on the spot. You can hear alot of influences from the 70’s Rock like for example Jethro Tull, Cream, Captain Beyond and other more heavier and progressive acts from that time. Stratology is full of energy and creativity. Favourite tracks are Mundande Utility where you first will think of Wolfmother but with more vintage sound and Riddle For The Ages that is more energetic and full of life.

Its really well done for a trio that consists of guitarist, keyboards, flute, vocals Fredrick Anderson, bassist Georg Bivall and the drummer & percussion Robert Wiiand, formed at the dawn of 2013

So rockers out there, what are you waiting on, check it out! I Vinyl release on this would be very appreciated.

The first official music video from Stratus. The song is "Riddle for the Ages" from the debut EP "Are You Stratusfied?" and "Stratology, enjoy!

Imperiet - Var e vargen

We continues on the Record Madness and play a song from the letter that we previously went through.

Imperiet was a Swedish 1980s rock band from Stockholm, that existed from 1983 to 1988. They were arguably the most influential band in Sweden of the period, but definitely dominated the new wave scene, which at the time was seen as the same as the punk rock scene.

Todays tune "Var e vargen", originally released as a single in 1986. The tune is one of the most frequently recorded songs in the Imperiet's production, no less than seven different versions exist on record, three of which is the English version "The Wild World". Initial proposed name of the song was "Den vilda världen" (The wild world).

After the Imperiet's breakup in 1988, have Joakim Thåström during his solo career, and during the period with Peace, Love & Pitbulls played "Var e vargen" at numerous tours. One interpretation of the text is that it is about the revolution that they much talked about, but that never comes.

Record Madness: I

Record Madness is a project between Metal blog and Tune Of The Day, a project that have now been running for some time.

In short, its based on a closer look at our record collection, and the rules are relatively simple.

There will be challenges between us. Everything is about to dive into the shelf and pick up the records with the letter which you have been challenged with. One tells stories, shows pictures, a little anecdotes, or anything that affects the character that is current at the moment. The posts ends with a challenge in the form of a letter from the alphabet sent to Chief Rebel on Metal blog. Then he makes the same thing with his record shelf (hey CD!) But with his twist and his angle on it before he sends back a letter. Then it all goes back and forth like a pinball machine, but in slow motion.

Everything started with "Chief Rebel" who dived into the letter "A", and wrote a mammoth post with lots of pictures of what was in his record shelf under the letter A. Then he has described what he has under "R","G", "U", "S", "T", "H" and now latest "E" (ARGUS THE)

Now we have come up a bit in the process and I have harvested both the letter "L", "Q", "B", "U", "D", "F", "E" and today we'll see what is hidden behind the letter  "I" (LQBUDFEI)

This time I'm really on it so you guys didn't have to wait for ages to see what's hidden behind todays letter. Even if i have had a really busy schedule I manage to take some time for this.
Time to stop "Monkey About" and gets this party in short "I" is a pretty average letter, that contains a pretty big mix lot of artists and genres, "I" has a pretty good place to the right and still in a standing height in the record shelf, thanks for that, guess I need to crawl on my knees soon...haha.

Once I have browsed through the albums I quickly notice that it contains a really mixed output, but far off to be a complete set of records.  And as I always mention, I do miss some records as they are to faraway to be able to be here.

First out is Roy Samuel Reid or better known as I-Roy who was a Jamaican DJ who had a very prolific career during the 1970s. Here with the album "Don't Check Me With No Lightweight Stuff" (1997)

AOR band i-Ten with the record "Taking a cold look" from (1983)

The British progressive rockers in IF with the album "Not Just Another Bunch of Pretty Faces" (1974)

angL is the second full length solo album of Emperor frontman Ihsahn. Writing began in early 2007, after Ihsahn had completed touring with Emperor. (2008)

American hard rock band from long island, New York, The Illusion with the records"Out of the mist" (1977) & "If It's So" (1970)

Between 1968 and 1977, Randy's Studio 17 was the site for some of all-time greatest reggae recordings including seminal albums by The Wailers and Burning Spear. Impact All-Stars, the album featured such influential musicians as Aston Barrett (bass), Carlton Barrett and Sly Dunbar (drums), Tyrone Downie, Earl Lindo and Augustus Pablo (keyboards) and Tommy McCook (tenor saxophone). With the addition of five previously-unreleased tracks, the album was reissued in 1998 by the British reggae label, Blood And Fire.
