Nyt Liv - Hårde Tider

Continue from yesterdays 10th Years Celebration of the festival "Copenhell".

The second tune is "Hårde Tider" (Hard Times) that was written by NYT LIV (New Life) bassist Søren Hvidt, which is also played by NYT LIV with the help of musicians from RISING and HATESPHERE. Søren Hvidt says the following about the song: "We were given some framework for the project, and we have not tried that before. Among other things, there should be room for a guitar chase, a solo and some recognizability. Our songwriting is usually very dynamic and focuses on how we make room for the various instruments. After all, we are not a decidedly guitar solo band, so how should we find space for them? There should also be a chorus so that our musical concept was stretched a great deal. It is also one of the longest numbers we have ever been involved in making", says Hvidt.

Ti År I Helvede ep was released digitally on Friday, April 5 and on vinyl on April 19, 2019. The vinyl edition is severely limited and is available in 333 neon green and 333 black copies respectively - a total of 666 copies. And yes, the publishers, the record label Indisciplinarian, insist on calling it an ep, even though it only contains two songs, but that is to emphasize that these are two equal songs.

This years festival was takes place on days 19-22. June with major names like TOOL; SLIPKNOT and SCORPIONS.

Foo Fighters - Everlong

Lollapalooza is over, a great but very long weekend has passed, supurb weather, sun and no rain, happy peoples, lucky child and a satisfied dad. Many good acts played during this festival. GRETA VAN FLEET and THE HELLACOPTERS was the top notch in my book. WOLFMOTHER was also really good, KVELERTAK aswell, cool to see the new singer. BRING ME THE HORIZON had a cool stage set that worked well with the pyro :)

Here are a few pictures from the festival.

There was a few of the building pictures. Rest are a few of the Live shoots I took during the festival.

FOO FIGHTERS live clip

Today's tune goes to the Headliner on Saturday, FOO FIGHTERS are, after a quarter of a century together, in every sense the ultimate rock band. Night after night Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee continue to sell out stadiums and arenas the world over, educating crowds on the life-affirming power of rock n roll. The band's current live show, has been described by Rolling Stone as “explosive and euphoric… wild and combustible at the place where Grohl’s love for punk and classic rock coalesce into something raging and tuneful… a show of enthusiasm that has grown over decades.”

FOO FIGHTERS began 2018 with an Australia / New Zealand stadium tour, continuing to play three-hour-plus rock marathons for capacity crowds over multiple nights at some of the world’s most prestigious venues: Madison Square Garden, Fenway Park in Boston, Wrigley Field in Chicago, London Stadium—plus a return to Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg— the site of the accident that led to the 2015 Broken Leg Tour.

FOO FIGHTERS did bring their explosive and euphoric live show to Lollapalooza Stockholm for a highly anticipated master class in thunderous, heartfelt rock ‘n’ roll.

Today's tune "Everlong" was the last tune that gilded evening air, the tune was released in August 1997 as the second single from their second studio album, "The Colour And The Shape" (1997).

Halestorm - Uncomfortable

New week and no "Record Of The Week" which hereby takes a little break and comes back to the fall.

This week we focus a little on who comes to the festival Lollapalooza, we will take a little closer look on a few bands that I find interesting and next week we summarize everything.

First out is the true legend of how the two siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale, at the time 13 and 10 years old, agreed to start a band that were going to stick together through thick and thin is widely spread by now. The fact that they now, 21 years later, still honors that contract is quite moving. Together with Josh Smith and John Joe Hottinger they make up the Pennsylvania-based post-grunge/metal quartet HALESTORM. One of the most successful hard rock groups to emerge during the 21st century. Their aggressive but hook-heavy sound has taken the band around the world and won them a huge fanbase, restlessly performing several hundreds of show each year. HALESTORM is fronted by the incomparably charismatic vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale. Her truly blessed pipes has that rare ability to dance on the verge of exploding, but also knowing when to hold back. With a vocal range that impressing it makes understanding how Halestorm so seamlessly can incorporate both piano ballads and sing-along choruses to their expression, without ever losing the rawness, easier.

HALESTORM released their self-titled debut in 2009 which immediately caught the attention of rock lovers. 2013 saw their sophomore effort "The Strange Case Of…" that won them a Grammy for Best Hardrock/Metal Performance. After "Into The Wild" (2015) with four top 10 mainstream hits, HALESTORM returned last year with the widely celebrated "Vicous". Here we find the golden children of modern rock once again waving the flag of rock with pride and power. But HALESTORMs live show remains their backbone and given the fact the band barely left the road for the last 20 years, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are considered to be one of the greatest live acts around.

HALESTORM will perform on the Park Stage Fri 6/28, 5:00pm-6:00pm

Today's tune "Uncomfortable" is taken from the bands latest album "Vicious", enjoy!

Ozzy Osbourne - Waiting For Darkness

Last Friday it was time again for the annual hard rock evening that always takes place on eve of Twelfth Night.

At always it's with great excitement when this day come, it's a day that I was really looking forward to. It's really great to meet up with friends that share the same love for music as I do. During this evening you will hear what others have done, what music is close to their heart and what stories they have to tell about live concerts and other odd stories that have happen during the year that has passed. And of course it is with great pleasure to play true the record that you have put together over the Christmas break and to hear what the other participants have made up for this event. This is a great opportunity to discovering some new music, but the best of all is that you get an evening together with friends of the same kind, where the music is the topic, one thing that I hold so dear!

So in the biggest secret I have carved out the tracks for this evening. But as usual the record was made in the last minute. Some of the tracks were pretty obvious through the presentation of the 2017s best albums that was publish here during Christmas and New Year.

As always it's really difficult to choose songs. This year I never got time for a theme, but overall it ended up pretty Ok after all. The categories for this year was made up with one single word only except for "Best Right Now"

This years line up of categories was:

1. Festival
2. Summer
3. Best Right Now
4. Nostalgia
5. Space
6. Death
7. Hefty

So over next week I'll present all the categories in the order of recording, Monday = Festival, Tuesday = Summer and so on, doing one extra for today as it's Sunday and a classic needs to be played :)  The rest of the upcoming week I will mix mine with the other participants choices, so here we go.

My choice from yesterday's Hard Rock Night in the Categori 1. "Festival".

OZZY OSBOURNE "Waiting For Darkness" a artist that I relate as the nr 1 at Festival, if he aint playing with BLACK SABBATH or as solo you will most likely here a tune in the bar, around the area, in the PA system or at the camping place. A festival without OZZY isn't a real festival.

Today's tune "Waiting For Darkness" is taken from his third studio album "Bark at the Moon", originally released on 15 November 1983. A tune that he never played live :(

Hurula - Ont Som Jag

Last weekend it was time for the yearly festival Popaganda, the last one of the year 2017, the autumn is here again, the darkness is waiting in the corner.

This years Popaganda did include acts like THE VACCINS, PHOENIX, TOVE LO, alt-J, Oscar Lindros, RADIO DEPT, HURULA among others. As a man like me don't really fit in the area like this, to little rock to please my heart. To be honest, not many band was familiar to me at all, except the northern rock band HURULA and Oscar Lindros. And I was pretty lucky, I had HURULA on my stage and he was furious and angry that resulted in a freaking good show, the lyrics are in Swedish and have a little punkish feeling.

Here is some photos from the phone, quickies during the evening so the quality is not the best, but better than nothing,

The Duck is on it's way to get placed on the safe spot in the festival :)

Black Sabbath - After Forever

Sunday, time for a classic!

"After Forever" is a song by English rock band BLACK SABBATH. The song was released on their third studio album Master of Reality in 1971, and later the same year it had been released as the first single from the album, but failed to chart anywhere. The lyrics were written by Geezer Butler while the music was written by Tony Iommi.

The lyrics of the song "After Forever", written by Geezer Butler, a proclaimed Catholic, focus entirely on Christian themes. Although the album jacket credits Iommi alone as the composer of this song (including lyrics), the BLACK SABBATH Black Box Set refutes the album jacket credit and gives credit to this song (along with "Orchid" and "Embryo") to all four band members in keeping with their wishes to remain a democratic band. At the time, some viewed BLACK SABBATH as Satanists (which the band had consistently denied) due to their dark sound, image and lyrics. "After Forever" was released as a single along with "Fairies Wear Boots" in 1971. Rolling Stone reviewer Lester Bangs criticized the Christian theme of "After Forever" as too obvious, but welcomed the arrangement, while Wilson & Alroy's called the guitar sound "crude but effective".

I have been pretty lucky these last few weeks, as during my work I get the chance to see many good artist playing live all around the world and during these last weeks I have been given time to watch BLACK SABBATH play twice, almost 3 times during a two weeks period.

I saw SABBATH at Graspop, almost at Hellfest and yesterday at Copenhell, kinda cool.

Here is a few pictures from a magic night with BLACK SABBATH.

Here is the setlist from yesterday.

Fairies Wear Boots
After Forever
Into the Void
Snowblind
War Pigs
Behind the Wall of Sleep
N.I.B.

Today's tune "After Forever" performed live during their Madison Square Garden concert on 25th February. Recorded live in New York City.
