Stratus - Riddle for the Ages

Time flies, it's monday again and that means it's time to reveal this week's "Record Of The Week"

Today we have a record named "Stratology" from a Swedish gang that originates from Örebro.

Stratology it's a classic Hard Rock album with a great swing.  It's a very groovy record with cool slightly psychedelic riffs that makes you dance on the spot. You can hear alot of influences from the 70’s Rock like for example Jethro Tull, Cream, Captain Beyond and other more heavier and progressive acts from that time. Stratology is full of energy and creativity. Favourite tracks are Mundande Utility where you first will think of Wolfmother but with more vintage sound and Riddle For The Ages that is more energetic and full of life.

Its really well done for a trio that consists of guitarist, keyboards, flute, vocals Fredrick Anderson, bassist Georg Bivall and the drummer & percussion Robert Wiiand, formed at the dawn of 2013

So rockers out there, what are you waiting on, check it out! I Vinyl release on this would be very appreciated.

The first official music video from Stratus. The song is "Riddle for the Ages" from the debut EP "Are You Stratusfied?" and "Stratology, enjoy!

Blues Pills - Black Smoke

Gallons of water was flowing and people were floating up to the air, Death came up with his black robe on and took all the sinners to hell. That's the first lines of todays tune "Black Smoke" by the Swedish-American-French rock band Blues Pills.

They release their debut ep Bliss on May 25th, 2012. After departing from Radio Moscow in september 2011, drummer Cory Berry and bass player Zack Anderson, joined up with Swedish lead singer Elin Larsson and French guitar player Dorian Sorriaux and have played together ever since.

Heavy, driving bass lines by Zach Anderson, colossal drums via Cory Berry, Dorian Sorriaux's Guitar solos from another universe, Tied together by the soulful Elin Larson (sometimes singing in her mother-tongue), her stage presence gives one the impression of being seduced by some Valkyrie's love song — or maybe her battle cry.

The Blues Pills hard and heavy blues sound can easily bring the mind back to the days of Captain Beyond and Black Sabbath.

Mirror Queen - From Earth Below

Out of the ashes of long running NYC band Kreisor emerges Mirror Queen. Under the Kreisor moniker, the band put 2 US tours and 4 European expeditions behind them, including tinnitus inducing sojourns supporting UFO and Uli Jon Roth all over the Continent. Presently, the newly minted Mirror Queen is hard at work recording what was to be the the 4th Kreisor album.

"From Earth Below", is a fairly traditional-sounding album with a seventies hard rock sound that meets the eighties. Influenced by such 70’s legends as Hawkwind, UFO, Blue Oyster Cult, Captain Beyond but with a slightly more modern touch such as Motorpsycho. The band plays an enjoyable music that should fall all retro-supporters on the lip.

Original members Kenny Kreisor (flying V, vocals) and Jeremy O'Brien (drums) have been joined by Dave McGauley on bass and Steve Austin (ex-Pink Swords of Gearhead Records) on second guitar.

Together they transcend the sameness of much of today's stoner scene, blasting the audience by including songs with the volume and adding hooks to the timeless riffs.

Todays tune it the title track from the album "From Earth Below"
