The Halo Effect - Feel What I Believe

THE HALO EFFECT, the new project featuring five former members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILLITY. — Jesper Strömblad (guitar), Daniel Svensson (drums), Peter Iwers (bass), Niclas Engelin (guitar) and Mikael Stanne (vocals) — has released its second single, “Feel What I Believe”. The track, the official music video for which can be seen below.

The song is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming "How don't you understand this?". And even if people around us didn't get it at the time at least they could see our passion for it and that's what this song is about.

The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular.
The band have also announced their first ever tour, accompanying Swedish death metal berserkers AMON AMARTH and US thrashers MACHINE HEAD on 31 dates throughout Europe and the UK. See the dates below.

The band comments: “We could not be more excited to partner with Cobra Agency for our first tour of Europe together with metal giants AMON AMARTH and MACHINE HEAD. Working together with people who are passionate about the road, the crews, the bands and the fans means a lot to us and doing this together is something we very much look forward to. See you in Sept/Oct!“

Today's tune "Feel What I Believe" taken from the upcoming album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast.

Susto - Get Down

"Time In The Sun" is the 4th full length album from Charleston, SC band SUSTO. The album was written and recorded in the midst of a lot of life changing events for lead writer/singer Justin Osborne.

Like everyone around the world, Osborne was navigating the global issues felt from the pandemic while normal life continued with its own blessings and challenges.. "We were navigating the global and national issues that everyone else was dealing with, but also I became a father and also lost my father. There was a lot of contemplation going on in my brain, a lot of personal evolution going on in my life, and songwriting was my way of working through it all. The title "Time In The Sun" is meant to be a monument to my own human existence and also a tribute to the human experience in general. I wouldn’t claim to understand what it means to be a human, from the countless different perspectives of the world, but I do have my own experience to reflect on and I want to be able to express and explain that in some way. I guess this album is an attempt at that. At the core though, it’s just a collection of songs about my life and my feelings."

SUSTO is heading out on tour soon, check all the dates below.

Todday's tune "Get Down" is taken from the new album "Time In The Sun" that was release on October 29, 2021 via New West Records.

The Hives - Good Samaritan

THE HIVES are a Swedish rock band that rose to prominence in the early 2000s during the Garage Rock Revival. Their mainstream success came with the release of the album "Veni Vidi Vicious", containing the single "Hate to Say I Told You So". The band has been acclaimed by music critics as one of the best live rock bands and I can just agree!

THE HIVES is working on some new material that will be released later this year along with a tour with THE OFFSPRING, see all the dates below. In the mean time we can kick off this friday with a raucous new punk salvo titled "Good Samaritan".

The band about the tune: “This a song about helping people help themselves by not helping them? Are they sarcastic or do they hate people now? Is this punk? You never know with these Hives and it’s been a while since I saw them so let’s all go see them again and see what they are on about?”

The band added, “[It’s] musically faster than usual but a surprising dive into the chorus that feels like going into hyper-space. Now it’s not surprising anymore. Oh well.”

Though details of a new album have yet to surface, it’s been revealed that the band have been working with producer Dave Sardy on their first album since 2012’s "Lex Hives".

THE HIVES will join THE OFFSPRING on their UK/Ireland invasion spreading the California punk sun by adding their own unique unfuckwithable version of arena garagerock.

Amon Amarth - The Pursuit Of Vikings

Sunday, time for a classic.

After a pretty busy week with a tribute show to Avicii at Friends Arena and firing off some Vikings at Annexet the week is finally to an end. The first show was pretty cool, the electronic tunes got some life with a real orchestra and it's really sad that it has to go this far to be true for Tim Bergling. Well, I hope he enjoyed the show from heaven at least.

The weekend ended at Annexet here in Stockholm and once again I meet up with the lads from the Swedish death metal band AMON AMARTH. They traveled with ARCH ENEMY and HYPOCRISY.

During the years, have AMON AMARTH grown to a big arena band with their Viking influenced death metal. The show was sold out and they really offered a hell of an evening to their fans, props of Vikings, Vikings fighting in a few numbers, raised drum raiser covered with a mask and gold chains, red flames, normal flames, flame balls, I mean a lot of flames along with lots of pyro effects to create a superb visual effect and a night to remember.

So after a hot night at Annexet with FFP, the german pyro dudes it's pretty easy to choose this evening classic.

Well, 2004 is not so far away, but on September 6, 2004 did AMON AMARTH released their fifth full-length studio "Fate Of Norns" where we find today's tune "The Pursuit of Vikings" that also was played during the evening at Annexet, here in Stockholm.

Enjoy!

Here is a clip with the full show.

Bokassa - Vultures

The fast-rising stoner punks BOKASSA have gotten a name after toured Europe supporting METALLICA on the "WorldWired Tour" in 2019, with METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich giving the band a glowing endorsement.

BOKASSA released its latest album, "Crimson Riders" and pretty recently they have unveiled the official video the tune "Vultures", taken from their latest album.

BOKASSA fuse stoner rock riffs and groove with the energy and volatility of punk and hardcore, into their own unique brand of stoner punk. New album "Crimson Riders" was recorded back home in Trondheim’s Brygga Studio, with production by Yngve Andersen (BLOOD COMMAND), mixing by Simon Jackman, and mastering by the legendary Grammy-winner Brian “Big Bass” Gardener (Dr. Dre, BAD RELIGION, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL).

After the tour with METALLICA they are now out for a UK & European headline tour, see all the dates below.

Today's tune "Vultures", taken from "Crimson Riders", enjoy!

BOKASSA frontman Jørn elaborates, “To us ‘Vultures’ always had a desert road trip kind of groove to it. But there aren’t many deserts where we’re from in Norway, so we made this psychedelic wacky road trip video instead. It was shot in Manchester, UK, the day after we played Stade De France in Paris!”

Eight years have passed since the world of punk rock lost one of their greatest. The legendary frontman of TURBONEGRO, Hank Von Hell, left the scene and stated that he would never come back again. “‘I’ve been gone for quite a while now. Somewhere along the way, I forgot myself. I realized that I needed to leave all the bullshit behind me, and do what I do best. Shake ass and rule the world”

Batushka - Yekteníya IV

Yesterday did the Polish extreme orthodox rockers BATUSHKA visit Sweden and Stockholm for a show at Nalen. A band that I became familiar with at the beginning of last year when I ran into their debut album. Read the review here! I was there with to friends and hade a pretty good evening.

The Pilgrimage tour is a pretty fun spectacle, much like you think you can expect from these guys. Imagine GHOST, though much darker, you're right close. Here you will get a Priest (BATUSHKA), who lights the candles, wiggles with his incense censer, holy water brush, the icon of "Litourgaya". An orthodox choir behind masks gives the show a great spirit and mystics, the sound was pretty good, the instruments were clear, and crisp in the position I was standing at, the light is the only thing I could whine over, simply too overworked to keep the mystery up, so most of the show became flat and boring in all flashes.

The setlist was simple, tune 1 to 8.

BATUSHKA is pronounced "Batjushka", the band's Cyrillic name Батюшка means "father" and is used to address an Eastern Orthodox priest. Despite their themes and imagery, they are not a Christian band.

Today's tune "Yekteníya IV: Milost" is taken from "Litourgaya"

Fireball Ministry - The Answer

These long-going purveyors of stoner-doom metal return with an epic comeback album that is being hailed as their strongest effort to date!

"Remember the Story" is FIREBALL MINISTRY 1st album in nearly seven years and it delivers their tried and true signature stomp and fuzzy swing with an even broader scope and deeper emotional range. The album mines the depths of loss, pain, and confusion, exorcising demons with the spirited uplift this kind of music best delivers.

"Remember The Story is about moving forward while staying connected to your past. With this album we've reached a new stage of crystallization and prowess in our riffage." – Emily J Burton

"This is a very personal record to me and was written from down deep. It's also an honor to be playing alongside Emily (Burton) and John (Oreshnick) for the last 20 years. Having Scott (Reeder) with us along for the ride has made our greatest music to date in my humble opinion." – James A Rota

"Remember the Story" was produced/mixed by Paul Fig, the engineer behind important records from ALICE IN CHAINS and GHOST. SABBATH soaked rhythms, PRIEST worshipping melodies, and no-nonsense THIN LIZZY mayhem collide in the Hollywood, California band, a group that has humbly but confidently flown the flag for rock authenticity since the hard-partying year of 1999.

Remember The Story’s cover artwork was created by Caitlin Mattisson and conveys the album’s theme of death and renewal. Speaking about the art, Mattisson says, “the vulture represents renewal and transformation and has connections to many mythologies and cultures, from being descended from Griffins in Greek Mythology to the scientific (Latin) name of Turkey Vulture translating to Golden Purifier, which ties in to Jim's theme about a 2nd chance at life. Elements inspired by Hildgard of Bingen have been worked into the border shapes, as well as 2 blown out candles on the front. The book on the front is a FIREBALL MINISTRY hymnal shooting light. On the back of the album the candles are lit again and the vulture is flying away towards a new moon, new beginning.”

FIREBALL MINISTRY is:

James A. Rota II – Vocals/Guitar
Emily J. Burton – Guitar/Backing Vocals
Scott Reeder – Bass
John Oreshnick – Drums

This evening FIREBALL MINISTRY is playing with CLUTCH, THE BRONX, and RED FANG at Lexington, KY Manchester Music Hall

Today's tune "The Answer" is taken from "Remember the Story", released October 6, 2017. Enjoy!

Bad Wolves - Zombie

"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish rock band THE CRANBERRIES, written about the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, and in memory of two young victims, Johnathan Ball and Tim Perry. It was released in September 1993 as the lead single from their second studio album, No Need to Argue (1994). It preceded the release of No Need to Argue by two weeks. The song was written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riordan, and reached No. 1 on the charts in Australia, Belgium, France, Denmark and Germany.

The song returned to the Top-Ten on the US Rock Charts shortly after news of Dolores O’Riordan’s passing earlier this year.

O’Riordan was slated to record vocals for BAD WOLVES cover of the track on the day of her passing. The band decided to release the song in her honour with all BAD WOLVES proceeds going to her children.

"She was telling me BAD WOLVES version was “awesome” and she could not wait to get into the studio, however ultimately her voicemails have brought comfort to her Mother Eileen and her family as they heard her messages joking and talking passionately about music, her children, and future plans."

BAD WOLVES will tour extensively in 2018, with US tour dates supporting FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and SHINEDOWN running through April and May, with more worldwide dates TBA.

He arrived with a cool stage, see the Video below. The pyro techs for the evening was Keith & Jack, two American professionals, so I had a great evening. Not really sure if it was a good show, it sounded so from the audience, as I'm not really into rap, my attention was else were during the show, mostly stuck in the fire, the beats of the drums vs fire :) The Mines and Gerbs was looking nice. Overall, a bang evening!

Hardcore Superstar - Have Mercy On Me

Gothenburg-based, Sweden rockers HARDCORE SUPERSTAR have released a new and first single "Have Mercy On Me" from the highly anticipated new album "You Can't Kill My Rock 'N' Roll", that is scheduled for release in the spring of 2018.

"Have Mercy On Me" has been released to coincide with the band's upcoming co-headline tour of Europe with FOZZY. The single will be available on all digital platforms on Friday the 27th of October and as an exclusive, limited edition 12″ vinyl single. The B-Side on the vinyl single will be a demo from the writing sessions for the new album “You Can´t Kill My Rock N’ Roll”.

The tune is goes in a typical HCSS style, loud, aggressive rocker that is catchy as hell and the video, oh my god, well done guys, love it.

HCSS singer Joakim "Jocke" Berg told World Metal Domination this past summer that "the energy level" during the band's live performances "is high because of the love for the music. I mean, sometimes we are tired like everybody else, but when you go up on that stage, something happens to your body," he explained. "I remember several times when I have been so tired or had a little to much to drink the day before and almost had to beg someone to drag me up on stage. But when the intro is on, something happens to your body; it feels like somebody slapping you in your face, and then you all of a sudden get your strength back and you become Superman!"

Thåström - Körkarlen

Yesterday did Thåström start his upcoming tour to support his latest album release "Centralmassivet", the premier was at Lisebergshallen, Gothenburg. I was one of the lucky invited to be able to leave the homebound and take a trip to Gothenburg to see this live.

I must say, that the premiere of Thåström was a magical evening, he has become a giant in his own genre. He has set an almost impossible standard for others to follow, far from any commercial rules.

The show is just perfect and very unconventional in the whole, it's very dark and deep, but full of energy with a lightning that is cut with an precision that you lose words, well done Brown. The sound is loud with an very Industrial feeling. nice to see you on the road again Björn Lehnberg. The show was mostly based on the last two albums song vise, so no reason to complain, on the contrary.

Tunes like "Körkarlen", "Jag är en idiot" "Fan fan fan" were just stunning, see all the tunes below. "Pimme" goes round in circles in a characteristic way, as we are getting used to by now. The fingers flutters during his walks and when he stand still, he hangs on the stand as it would have been a resting pillar. After the show I got invited to take part in the after party, great to meet old friends like Brown, Brenge, Roos, Lehnberg, Wallinder and get the chance to give "Pimme" a big thank you for a magical evening.

Today's tune "Körkarlen" is the latest single from "Centralmassivet". Regi, production, clipp, postproduction: Svante Loden/Kabalen AB

Rival Sons - Soul

The Blues Rockers RIVAL SONS was formed in 2009 from the ashes of guitarist Scott Holiday’s previous band Black Summer Crush (which featured Michael Miley on drums and Robin Everhart on bass). The band took shape when singer Jay Buchanan was persuaded to come in as vocalist on the re-recording of Before the Fire. The band currently features bassist Dave Beste after Robin Everhart left in August 2013.

And now with a total of five albums in the luggage and successful performances around the world, they returned yesterday to Stockholm and Gröna Lund for a sensational night in the rock's characters and I mean that, once again I was totally blown away. That these dudes from Long Beach, California is one of the most important band on this timeline, I'm really looking forward to their next chapter of music and if the history speaks the truth the next album should come during summer next year.

Today's tune "Soul" is taken from the first self released EP by the band, enjoy. The clip is Recorded live on the Bob Bauer Show@ UDetroit Media Cafe October 24 2011 Recorded and Mixed by Mark Pastoria
