Mötley Crüe - Wild Side

Sunday, time for a Classic tune.

"Wild Side" is a single by the American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. It was released on their 1987 album Girls, Girls, Girls.

Nikki Sixx described "Wild Side" as more complex compared to some of the simpler songs on the album. It is one of the few Mötley Crüe songs that changes in time signature. Sixx had written the song during the most dangerous part of his heroin addiction. He mentioned this in The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rockstar.

The song's tempo is 118 beats per minute and the main riff uses a chord progression of A minor 7th, D sus, and D minor, on a guitar using distortion. On the Guitar Tuning, they often used Tune-Down Whole-Step from standard E-A-D-G-B-E to D-G-C-F-A-D as their own set of discretion.

The song has been a staple at live concerts and has not been left off the setlist since its release. It is usually accompanied by a tremendous amount of pyrotechnics, and is always a crowd pleaser. As the song does not have a guitar solo only some melodic lead guitar lines, a 'drum solo' is used when Tommy Lee plays in a suspended, rotating drum cage over the crowd.

Todays tune "Wild Side" taken from the fourth studio album "Girls, Girls, Girls",  released on May 15, 1987.
The video for this song was recorded on July 18, 1987 in Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Three previously unreleased Queen tracks featuring late singer Freddie Mercury spearhead an exciting new Queen album, Queen Forever, due November 10th 2014 on the Virgin Records label.

The tracks include a long anticipated track from Queen and Michael Jackson, There Must Be More to Life Than This, a previously unfinished Mercury-Queen track Let Me In Your Heart Again originating from the band’s The Works album recording sessions, and a scorching new stripped-down ballad version of Mercury’s first solo hit, his Giorgio Moroder collaboration, Love Kills.

H.E.A.T - Tearing Down The Walls

Live In London is the upcoming "Live" album by the Swedish melodic rockers H.E.A.T.

That these men would develop as much as they have done in recent years, I never thought they would made it as far as they have, it looked more like a band that would disappear in the roar and be forgotten in the record shelf, now I just can clap my hands and say, well done boys.

H.E.A.T is one of those bands which you need to see live on stage. Armed with a reputation of a brilliant live act, Sweden’s rock sensation is always in to deliver a truly energetic and passionate show. “Live In London” is the band’s first ever live release and truly captures the band at their best. Mainly recorded at The Garage in London on May 16, 2014 during their first ever European headline tour, “Live In London” is going to be released on February 20, 2015 on earMUSIC.

Mixed by Grammy award winning producer Tobias Lindell, the live album includes 15 powerful hymns. Front man Erik Grönwall knows how to seduce the audience with his powerful crisp clear voice and his boundless, hyperactive stage persona which makes the audience go crazy. The band – Eric Rivers (guitar), Jona Tee (keyboards), Jimmy Jay (bass) and Crash (drums) – join in with a sheer force of energy and fully indulge themselves into the music. The on point performance includes all the band’s classics, from the melodious “1000 Miles” to the catchy “It’s All About Tonight” and “Breaking The Silence” as well as their most recent smashes “A Shot At Redempetion” and “Mannequin Show” – to all of which the audience passionately sings along. H.E.A.T will definitely restore your faith in rock music.

In 2009, H.E.A.T had a huge hit in Scandinavia with the song “1000 Miles” which was followed by a nomination as one of the Top 50 albums in 2010 by Classic Rock Magazine UK for the band’s second album “Freedom Rock”. Their third studio album “Address The Nation” was praised by media worldwide as one of the best album’s in 2012 and consolidated the band’s reputation as the new leading band in hard edged melodic rock. “Tearing Down The Walls”, their celebrated fourth studio album, continued on the road to success on which H.E.A.T provided their fans with phenomenal songs and the band’s historic sound – Metal Hammer UK certified that the album included hit after hit whereas Classic Rock Germany named H.E.A.T one of the best bands from Sweden. All during the band’s history, H.E.A.T have been touring all over the world, winning the whole of Europe over with their powerful live performances. A band that went on tour with Toto right after they started, that went Top 10 in Sweden with their debut album and supported Alice Cooper as well as Scorpions definitely got something right.

Todays tune "Tearing Down the Walls" is the title track taken from the the fourth studio album and first album without the guitarist Dave Dalone. Released in 2014. The tune is also featuring on the upcoming live album "Live In London", set to release Feb 20, 2015. Filming credits: Kristian Heat Reuter, Lee II Gyu and Jang Geun Woo

Pink Floyd - Louder Than Words

"Louder than Words" is a song written by David Gilmour and Polly Samson. The song, featuring lyrics written by Samson to accompany a composition by Gilmour, was originally recorded by British rock band Pink Floyd for their fifteenth studio album, The Endless River, where it appears as the closing track on the album. The track, which had its roots in the 1993 sessions for the band's previous studio album, The Division Bell, features a posthumous appearance by former keyboardist and founding member of Pink Floyd, Richard Wright, and an appearance by electronic string quartet Escala. "Louder than Words" is the only song on the album with lead vocals by Gilmour.

The music accompanying the song, composed by David Gilmour, has been described by various music critics and writers, including Exclaim! writer Josiah Hughes as a "A slow-burning, melodramatic track complete with plenty of intense guitar and synth work" and by Clash writer Robin Murray as a "sparse, trippy track, one which is heavy on guitar led atmosphere and ominous electronic production". The lyrics, written by Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, depicts "stately depiction of undying love, a tribute to Richard Wright and the importance of overcoming petty differences". Gilmour spoke about the song with The Guardian, stating:

Well, Rick is gone. This is the last thing that’ll be out from us. I’m pretty certain there will not be any follow up to this. And Polly, my wife, thought that would be a very good lyrical idea to go out on. A way of describing the symbiosis that we have. Or had… I didn’t necessarily always give Wright his proper due. People have very different attitudes to the way they work and we can become very judgmental and think someone is not quite pulling his weight enough, without realising that theirs is a different weight to pull.

"Louder than Words" has received generally positive reviews from music critics. Tom Breihan of Spin Media music webzine Stereogum wrote positively of the song, stating that "the song is a lovely piece of work, a slow prog-rock elegy with an gospel choir and some classic Floyd guitar". Brad Bershad of Zumic also gave the song a positive review. "Gilmour's guitar parts are stellar, although perhaps softer than the classic jagged tone of the '70s records.", he said. "Time has softened The Floyd a bit, but this is still a beautiful song. The autobiographical lyrics, referring to the power behind Pink Floyd’s music and infighting are excellent."

Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and musically influential groups in the history of popular music.

Pink Floyd was founded in 1965 by students Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. They gained popularity performing in London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett's leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). David Gilmour joined as a fifth member in December 1967; Barrett left the band in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the band's primary lyricist and, by the mid-1970s, their dominant songwriter, devising the concepts behind their critically and commercially successful albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983).

Wright left Pink Floyd in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985, declaring it a "spent force". Gilmour and Mason continued as Pink Floyd; Wright rejoined them as a session musician and, later, a band member. The three produced two more albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994), and toured until 1994. After nearly two decades of acrimony, Pink Floyd reunited with Waters in 2005 for a performance at the global awareness event Live 8, but Gilmour and Waters have since stated they have no plans to reunite as a band again. Barrett died in 2006 and Wright in 2008. A new Pink Floyd studio album recorded without Waters partially originating from material recorded in 1993–1994, The Endless River, was released in November 2014.

Todays tune "Louder Than Words" is taken from "The Endless River", the new album from Pink Floyd.

At The Gates - Heroes And Tombs

New week, time to unleash this week's "Record Of The Week". "At War With Reality"

"At War With Reality" is probably the most anticipated metal album this year! At The Gates will turn into one of 2014's genre biggest release. After 19 long years since their eminent release "Slaughter of the Soul" they are back and they learned that "Never say Never again" and I can only say that the wait was well worth it.

"At War with Reality" is the fifth studio album, released on 28 October 2014. It is the band's first album since Slaughter of the Soul (1995), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career, and their first release on Century Media Records. It is a concept album based on the literary genre of magic realism.

The album is the excellent comeback record! At least as far as I'm concerned. The production is clear and bombastic and the guys are in top form on this record, Tomas sings marvellous, he has grown into mature beast during the years. Jonas bass sound is chugging hard like a B52. Anders and Martin guitars steering the huge ship of At The Gates with harmonize melodic leads and creative riffs that you will pale with envy and all this rests on Adrian Erlandssons drum sound, something that you almost drop your chin to.

That the band have grown during the years with other projects is something that you can hear, that they managed to retain their great classic song writing for this record, which is brilliant and one can only bow for it.

To summarise this: It hooks you from the first listen and you only want more of it. "At War with Reality" is as addictive as drugs.

The album was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and was mixed at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Soilwork, Paradise Lost, Kreator). The cover artwork for the effort was designed by Costin Chioreanu, who has previously also worked with bands such as Arch Enemy, Morgoth and Darkthrone. Chioreanu gave the strong lyrical theme of "At War With Reality" an outstanding conceptual togetherness with the visuals he crafted for this project. "At War With Reality" is a concept album based on the literary genre of Magic realism.

At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg, and a major progenitor of the melodic death metal (or Gothenburg death metal) sound.

Initially active from 1990 to 1996, the band reformed in 2007 for a reunion tour before breaking up once again in 2008. However, they reformed for a second time in December 2010, and have since continued to perform live. The band will release At War with Reality, their first album in 19 years, in late 2014.

Today At The Gates consist of:

Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster

Sunday, time for a classic and today we are Flirtin' With Disaster and play a Molly Hatchet tune!

Molly Hatchet is an American Southern rock/hard rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975. They are best known for their hit song "Flirtin' with Disaster" from the album of the same title. The band, founded by Dave Hlubek and Steve Holland, took its name from a prostitute who allegedly mutilated and decapitated her clients. Most of Molly Hatchet album covers feature heroic fantasy inspired art, some of which were painted by artists Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo and Paul R. Gregory.

Flirtin' with Disaster is the second studio album by American southern rock band Molly Hatchet, released in 1979 (see 1979 in music). In 2001, Sony Music re-issued the album under their subsidiary label Epic/Legacy with the production of Jeff Magid and four bonus tracks. It is their best-selling album.

The cover is a painting by Frank Frazetta entitled "Dark Kingdom."

Todays tune "Flirtin' with Disaster" is the only single from the band's second album of the same title. The song remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks, peaking at 42. The song is Molly Hatchet's most famous, and has appeared in the films Suspect Zero, The Dukes of Hazzard, Straw Dogs and the video games NASCAR 98 and Rock Band. It also appeared in My Name Is Earl, Supernatural and King of the Hill. The song is also alluded to in the title of a Season 2 episode of Danny Phantom.

AC/DC - Play Ball

Rock or Bust is an upcoming album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It will be the band's fifteenth internationally released studio album and the sixteenth to be released in Australia. It will be the shortest studio album ever released by the band. At under 35 minutes, it is two minutes shorter than their previous shortest album, Flick of the Switch, which was released in 1983.

Due to be released on 28 November 2014 in Australia and on 2 December 2014 elsewhere, Rock or Bust will mark the band's first original recordings since 2008's Black Ice.

That it has been quite turbulent AC/DC camp recently, have probably not passed any fan by now. It has been both poor health and attempted murder and drugs. How all this will end, only time will tell. In 2015, the band will embark on a world tour to promote Rock or Bust and celebrate the band's 40th anniversary. Malcolm Young will be replaced by his and Angus' nephew, Stevie Young. It is not yet clear whether Rudd will participate in the tour.

In an interview on 13 November, Angus Young stated that the band had experienced problems with Rudd earlier in the year when recording Rock or Bust, and that his situation had taken the band by surprise. Rudd had also missed video and photo shoots, and with reference to Rudd's future in the band, Young added, "So, at this stage, it's a pretty tough call for us." He also said the band would continue: "He's got to sort himself out I think... At this point it's kind of a question mark. But if we're touring, there will be a drummer in place, put it that way." In the same interview, Young also said, "Phil created his own situation. It's a hard thing to say about the guy. He's a great drummer, and he's done a lot of stuff for us. But he seems to have let himself go. He's not the Phil we've known from the past.

Today tune "Play Ball" is a single by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, and the debut single from their 2014 album Rock or Bust. It was first used on 27 September 2014 in a trailer for Major League Baseball on TBS postseason coverage, and the single was released on 7 October.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was absent from the video shoot for the single, and was replaced by Welshman Bob Richards, who had previously played with Man, Adrian Smith, Asia and Shogun.

On September 3, Manson confirmed that the new album is "prepared for landing", indicating that production for the album had been completed
