Marilyn Manson - God's Gonna Cut You Down

"God's Gonna Cut You Down", is a traditional folk song which has been recorded by numerous artists representing a variety of genres. The lyrics are a warning to sinners that no matter how hard they try, they will not avoid God's judgment.

The silhouette of Marilyn Manson skulks around crucifixes at the onset of a video for his new recording of the folk standard, “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” which was previously recorded by Odetta, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, among others.

Marilyn Manson recorded and released his cover of the song in October of 2019 (previously performed on his "Heaven Upside Down" tour in 2017).

Music video director Tim Mattia (Halsey’s “Colors,” the 1975’s “Somebody Else,” Manson’s “Hey Cruel World … “) shot Manson for the video in the Joshua Tree Desert in California.

The singer is putting the song out as a standalone vinyl single (and digital release) to coincide with his October and November tour dates. The vinyl picture disc features one of his watercolor paintings. Order it here!

Enjoy today's Tune!

Shooter Jennings feat. Marilyn Manson - Cat People

Thursday, time for a cover.

"Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" is a song sung by David Bowie, the title song of the 1982 film Cat People. Recorded in July 1981, the song was written by Bowie with producer Giorgio Moroder. A re-recorded version of the song appears on the album Let's Dance.

To day we have a Harrowing Bowie Cover where animals attack, apocalypse draws near in eerie, sprawling animated clip for "Cat People”, see below.

Shooter Jennings and Marilyn Manson’s made a brooding cover. Jennings and Manson's version of "Cat People" appears on the former's recent LP, Countach (For Giorgio), a covers collection featuring songs by electronic-music pioneer, Giorgio Moroder. Moroder and Bowie wrote "Cat People" for the film of the same name, but also reimagined it for Bowie's 1983 album, Let's Dance.

Marilyn Manson: David Bowie 'Changed My Life Forever' "Every song of Bowie was a way for me to communicate to others," Manson writes. "It was a sedative. An arousal. A love letter I could never have written"

Directed by Valenberg and Blake Judd, the clip plays out like a NSFW 16-bit noir centered around a mysterious spate of brutal animal attacks and a group of renegade women who flee Hollywood with Jennings and leave a trail of destruction in their wake. The "Cat People" clip also boasts several references to Bowie, including a mural of him as Ziggy Stardust, and a shot of him as the blind prophet in the "Blackstar" video.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jennings explained how the collaboration with Manson came about: "I invited him out to a party at this bar, and I said, 'Hey, you know 'Cat People'? You want to do that song on this record, 'cause you'd sound awesome doing it.' And he was like, 'I sing that song every night before I go onstage. That's my song I warm up to.' So one night I went over to his house at three in the morning and brought all my recording gear."

Marilyn Manson - We Know Where You Fucking Live

Marilyn Manson just released the music video for his caps-lock-on-cruise-control single "WE KNOW WHERE YOU FUCKING LIVE" taken from his upcoming tenth studio album "Heaven Upside Down". It is set to be released on October 6, 2017 by Loma Vista Recordings and Caroline International. "We Know Where You Fucking Live" was released as the album's lead single on September 11, 2017, with "Kill4Me" following on September 20.

”Like Manson’s other visual works, “We Know Where You Fucking Live” is typical family-friendly fare, starring skintight latex-donning nuns with ammunition who, alongside Manson, turn a family’s copacetic suburban night into chaos.

"We Know Where You Fucking Live" is an industrial rock song. It is reminiscent of material released by the band in the late '90s, and features subdued, predominantly electronic verses coupled with a chorus consisting of loud, aggressive guitar riffs and the eponymous vocalist's screamed vocals. Nerdist Industries called the song "fiercely rocking and in-your-face". Manson said that he was "astonished that a record label put the song out as the first single", due to its lyrical content, which reference political corruption, drone warfare and global surveillance. The track was debuted live during the first date of the Heaven Upside Down Tour, which occurred on July 20 in Budapest

The music video for the song was directed by Bill Yukich and Perou, and was posted onto YouTube on September 15. The clip opens with a parental advisory warning for graphic violence and sexual content, and begins with a quintet of nuns walking down a suburban street during a solar eclipse. The nuns tear off their habits, revealing them to be wearing latex undergarments and leather dominatrix gear, and carrying various handguns, assault rifles and rocket launchers. The group then encounters Manson and, after an initial standoff, proceed to blow up a van. The group then invades the home of a family and subjects the husband and wife to a violent sexual assault. Sydney Gore of The Fader has hypothesized that the video is a metaphor for religious extremism.

On September 3, Manson confirmed that the new album is "prepared for landing", indicating that production for the album had been completed

Gary Numan - Love Hurt Bleed

Gary Numan “The master of electro", born Gary Anthony James Webb on 8 March 1958 is an English singer, composer, and musician. Most widely known for his chart-topping 1979 hits "Are 'Friends' Electric?" (as Tubeway Army) and "Cars", Numan achieved his peak of mainstream popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but maintains a loyal cult following.

Numan, whose signature sound consists of heavy synthesiser hooks fed through guitar effects pedals, is considered a pioneer of commercial electronic music.

Todays tune "Love Hurt Bleed" is taken from the twentieth studio album "Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind)", released on 9 October 2013.

He has been influencing artists for three decades–from Nine Inch Nails to Marilyn Manson to myself. Now he is taking from his descendants and making the ideas his own. It is apparent Gary is very human when he sings his words. They are fully passionate and beautifully painful. If you have the latest Nine Inch Nails release, you need to hear Splinter. You will learn who the master is.”
