Green vomit is the topic in the latest video "Dying in a Red Room" from the Californian metal band SUICIDE SILENCE, the tune is taken from the fifth self-titled album.
The band had previously begun to explore genres outside of deathcore on their 2011 album "The Black Crown", experimenting with genres such as nu metal by collaborating with musicians such as KORN vocalist Jonathan Davis. After the passing of Mitch Lucker in 2012, the band reverted to a more straightforward deathcore sound for 2014 album "You Can't Stop Me".
SUICIDE SILENCE marks a departure from the band's straightforward deathcore sound to a more nu metal and alternative metal influenced sound. The first song released from the album, "Doris", was released on January 6, 2017, to a mixed reception. It has been compared to DEFTONES and KORN. The next song released from the album, titled "Silence", was released February 1, 2017.
Todays tune "Dying in a Red Room" was released on February 25. Enjoy!
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record of The Week"
The British rockers THE TREATMENT have been around for awhile (formed in Cambridge in 2008), "Generation Me" is the third full length album release and the first major label release, debuting on Frontiers. "Generation Me" is also the debut for Michael Emms on vocals and Tao Grey on guitar.
"Generation Me" is heavily influenced by AC/DC with NWOBHM foundation, it instantly reveal hulking riffs and memorable choruses which are the essential ingredients of a classic album. And "Generation Me" truly is a class album, the best the band have made so far and that is thanks to Emms & Grey. Showing a sonic power not seen from the band thus far, THE TREATMENT is truly firing on all cylinders now.
The album kicks of with first single (today's tune) "Let It Begin", a very catchy tune with excellent vocals from Emms and cool AC/DC inspired riffs. "The Devil" another strong tune, a real smash in your head and climb up on the stage aka AIRBOURNE. "Tell Us The Truth" turns up the paste where influences of JUDAS PRIEST sneaks in at the end, great tune. And like this the album continues, harder, catchy tunes like the title track "Generation Me", "Cry Tough", "Light The Sun" half pace "Better Think Again" to the iPhone flashlight tunes like "Backseat Heartbeat".
The album was produced by UK rock maestro Laurie Mansworth, mixed by Tony Newton (IRON MAIDEN, BRITISH LION) and mastered by Ade Emsley,
Sum: An melodic rocker that you need to squeeze in to your collection.
Today's tune "Let It Begin" is the first single taken from "Generation Me", enjoy!
"Alone Again" is a power ballad written and released by the American heavy metal band DOKKEN on their second studio album "Tooth and Nail" (1984). The song was written by singer Don Dokken and bassist Jeff Pilson. Its lyrics talk about a man's depression after a break-up. The music video had a story similar to a lot of other power ballads. Almost 70% of it is filmed in black and white along with some coloured scenes. It shows the band performing the song live along with some shots of Don Dokken being alone in a room.
Don Dokken originally wrote the song in the 1970s when he was 25. He recalled during an interview with the Sioux Falls, South Dakota radio station, KBAD 94.5 FM, "I wrote it on a little 4-track recorder, put it on a cassette and it ended up in a box for, like, eight years. And the record company, on Tooth And Nail, our second album, they said ballads are the thing. JOURNEY had a big hit with 'Lights' and NIGHT RANGER... Everybody had ballads, and we didn't have any ballads."
"Tooth and Nail" is the second studio album by American heavy metal band DOKKEN, released on September 13, 1984 through Elektra Records. After the unsuccessful release of the band's debut album in the US, the record label was reluctant to give credit to DOKKEN for a follow-up. DOKKENs management struggled to convince the label's executives to give the band another chance and this fight for recognition is reflected in the album's title. This album was the group's first with bassist Jeff Pilson following Juan Croucier's departure to join Ratt.
The production of the album was entrusted to renowned producer Tom Werman, but the recordings were hampered by the clash of egos between vocalist Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch, who could not work together in a studio at the same time, and by the excesses of musicians and technicians. For these reasons, Werman was unable to carry on his work and quit the job after a few weeks, replaced by Roy Thomas Baker and Michael Wagner, who completed the recordings and mixed the album. The music of the album ranges from fast and aggressive tracks to pop and melodic ballads, representing a transition from classic heavy metal to the more commercial glam metal.
DOKKEN are an American metal band formed in 1979. They split up in 1989 and reformed four years later. They had three charting singles ("Alone Again", "In My Dreams" and "Burning Like a Flame") and have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Beast from the East was nominated for the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 1989.
The classic DOKKEN line-up consisted of founder Don Dokken on vocals, George Lynch on lead guitar, Mick Brown on drums and Jeff Pilson, who replaced the Ratt-bound Juan Croucier in early 1984, on bass, This line-up remained stable from 1984 to 1989, and again from 1993 to 1997; only Dokken and Brown now remain. After several personnel changes on guitar, DOKKENs attorney Jon Levin stepped in to fill the role in 2004. In 2001, Barry Sparks replaced Pilson on bass. In 2009, Sean McNabb (formerly with GREAT WHITE and QUIET RIOT) replaced him, and was then replaced by Chris McCarvill in 2015.
"The North Corridor" is the eighth studio album from the American rock band CHEVELLE. The album was released on July 8, 2016.
CHEVELLE was formed in 1995 in the Chicago suburb of Grayslake, Illinois. The band was originally composed of brothers: Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion) and Joe Loeffler (bass and backing vocals). When Joe left the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the bassist until he was replaced by Pete and Sam's brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini.
CHEVELLE has sold over four million albums in the United States. The band's first studio album, "Point #1", was released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment. CHEVELLEs second album, "Wonder What's Next" (October 8, 2002), was certified Platinum by the RIAA after a debut at No. 14 on the United States albums chart, Billboard 200. "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" (September 21, 2004), the band's third album debuted at No. 8 and has been certified Gold. CHEVELLE has since released a fourth album, "Vena Sera" (April 3, 2007), a fifth album, "Sci-Fi Crimes", (August 31, 2009), and a sixth album "Hats Off to the Bull" (December 6, 2011). Their seventh album, "La Gárgola", was released on April 1, 2014. Their eighth album, "The North Corridor", was released on July 8, 2016. Other releases from CHEVELLE include two live albums, DVDs and a compilation of band favorites.

GONE IS GONE is an American rock group formed in 2016. The band consists of Troy Sanders, the singer and bass player from MASTODON, Troy Van Leeuwen, one of the guitarists for QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, Tony Hajjar, the drummer for AT THE DRIVE-IN, and Mike Zarin, a multi-instrumentalist, composer and founder of SENCIT MUSIC who appeared with Van Leeuwen on Sweethead's Descent to the Surface. An eponymous EP was released on July 8, 2016, and the band released their debut album Echolocation on January 6, 2017.
GONE IS GONE is a very nice mixture of MASTODONs progressive and the atmospheric wibe of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGEs heavy rock. A really experimental collection of great tunes.
Today's tune "Violescent" is taken from the self-titled debut EP by GONE IS GONE, released July 8, 2016
Former FLYLEAF vocalist Lacey Sturm resurfaced with her first solo album "Life Screams" an album that is very personal, honest and emotional album. She even make a pretty cool cover of THE POLICEs "Roxanne". The first single "Impossible" became a radio hit single back in the states.
"Life Screams" was released on February 12, 2016
Lacey Nicole Sturm (née Mosley, born September 4, 1981) is an American singer and songwriter from Homestead, Florida, raised in Arlington, Texas. She is co-founder and former lead vocalist of the hard rock band FLYLEAF. In February 2016, Sturm became the first solo female to top the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart with her debut release.
Today's tune "Rot" is taken from "Life Screams", enjoy!
I keep swinging my hand through a swarm of bees ‘cause I ...
I want honey on my table.
That's the first part of the lyrics of today's tune "Black Honey" by the American rock band THRICE. A band that was formed in Irvine, California, in 1998. The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school.
Early in their career, the band was known for fast, hard music based in heavily distorted guitars, prominent lead guitar lines, and frequent changes in complex time signatures. This style is exemplified on their second album, "The Illusion of Safety" (2002) and their third album "The Artist in the Ambulance" (2003). Their fourth album "Vheissu" (2005) made significant changes by incorporating electronic beats, keyboards, and more experimental and nuanced songwriting. Their fifth effort was a double album entitled "The Alchemy Index" (2007/2008), released as two sets of two CDs that together make a 4-part, 24-song cycle. Each of the four 6-song EPs of "The Alchemy Index" features significantly different styles, based on different aspects of the band's musical aesthetic which reflect the elemental themes of fire, water, air and earth, both lyrically and musically. The band's sixth album, entitled "Beggars", was released on August 11, 2009, and their seventh, "Major/Minor" on September 20, 2011. The most recent albums feature a refined combination of the band's different experiments and explorations. On May 27, 2016, THRICE released their ninth studio album, "To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere". Each album released by THRICE has had a portion of its sales proceeds donated to a new charitable organization.

"Peace Trail" is the 37th studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, released on December 9, 2016 on Reprise Records. Co-produced by Young and John Hanlon, the album was recorded at record producer Rick Rubin's Shangri-La Studios.
Described as a "primarily acoustic" album, Young recorded "Peace Trail" with drummer Jim Keltner and bass guitarist Paul Bushnell.
"Peace Trail" was written and recorded following the release of Young's live album, "Earth", in 2016. Despite working extensively with Promise of the Real throughout 2015 and 2016, Young opted to record a solo album with session musicians Jim Keltner (drums) and Paul Bushnell (bass). According to Bushnell, the album was recorded in four days: "We did the ten tracks over four days. Most of them were recorded on the first or second take."
Young invited Bushnell to participate in the recording sessions after discovering his playing on Promise of the Real bandmate Micah Nelson's forthcoming solo album. According to Bushnell, "Micah told me that Neil Young loved my bass playing on the record and that he had asked Micah for my mobile. I didn’t really believe it until the next morning; at 10am, my phone rang from this blocked number. I answered, and the guy said, ‘Is this Paul?' I said, ‘Yes it is.’ The voice said, 'Well, this is Neil Young.’"
Today's tune is the Official Lyric Video for Neil Young's "My Pledge" from the new album "Peace Trail". Director: David Braun
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
"White Bear" is the second album by the British blues rock band THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT, a band that fills the void of bands like The BLACK CROWES, THE PARLOR MOB and BLACK COUNTY COMMUNION to name a few.
Phil Campbell — vocals, Paul Sayer — guitars, Nick Fyffe — bass & Matt White — guitars
"White Bear" is a raucous, catchy hard blues rock record, a really fun record to put on a spin on a boring day to get up the creation nerv.
The album kicks of the with "Three Bulleits", a really catchy beast, heavy riffs with blues inspiration follows up with "Get Yourself Free", totally different approach, bluesy swing with a soul move, "A Pleasant Peace I Feel" starts with a bass melody, a slow popish tinge until it breaks out to psychedelic rock number, "Modern Massacre" is a heavy swampy blues stomper, "Battle Lines" is a heavy blusey piece with a catchy chorus, distorted guitars, title track "White Bear" is a half pace beauty with heavy far-out blues verse. "Oh Lorraine" is another tune with great composition, Phil Campbell vocals sounds like if he was Steven Tyler singing in NAZARETH, interesting mix indeed, it's a great tune. "The Sun & Moon Roll Around Too Soon" follows the idea, but with some BEATLES inspirations, "I Hope I'm Not Losing My Mind" is the album ballad, a nicely crafted piece of music. The album closes up with rockish blues thing "Do The Revelation"
Summary: "White Bear" is a soundly beautiful piece of work.
Today's tune is the title track of their new album "White Bear", here with the revolutionary music video. The band teamed up with famed photographer, filmmaker and multimedia artist Steven Sebring, who created the spectacular "White Bear" album cover and has worked with the likes of Patti Smith, Neil Young, Joey Ramone, Alec Baldwin, Philip Glass, JFK Jr. and Bill Gates. He has also won a 2008 Sundance Award for Excellence in Cinematography and earned a 2010 Primetime Emmy nomination. To create the mesmerising visual masterpiece, the video was filmed with Steven Sebring's innovative Revolution system - a one-of-a-kind process that captures form and movement from every angle, resulting in stunning 3D imagery with unparalleled depth.
Steven Sebring comments: "The Revolution system allows us to manipulate time and light to capture the true essence of the body and spirit of the subject. THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT embraced and embodied my vision and this is the result."

"Come as You Are" is a song by American grunge band NIRVANA, written by frontman Kurt Cobain and released as the second single from the band's second studio album "Nevermind" in March 1992.
Tomorrow it's Kurt's 50 yrs birthday, so Happy Birthday Kurt.
The unexpected success of the album's lead single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" drew NIRVANA to mainstream success, with "Nevermind" being released two weeks after the single's release. Following the album's release, the band and its management company debated whether to release "Come as You Are" or "In Bloom" as the next single from the album due to Cobain's concerns over similarity of the former with the KILLING JOKE song "Eighties" (1984). After some persuasion by the management company, Cobain agreed to release "Come as You Are" as the second single because of its commercial potential. KILLING JOKE were upset over the song, and there were rumors that a lawsuit had been filed over the song, though the suit never materialized. KILLING JOKE guitarist Geordie Walker was said to be upset about the whole situation, and he felt that NIRVANA (which according to Walker denied the connection between the songs) handled the matter poorly.
The music video for "Come as You Are" was directed by Kevin Kerslake, who drew inspiration for it from the cover artwork of Nevermind. Rolling Stone ranked "Come as You Are" 445th on its list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and it placed 452nd on the 2010 edition of the list.
Kurt Cobain described this song as "About people, and what they're expected to act like."
The lyrics are intentionally contradictory and confusing, with one line rebutting the next:
"As a friend, as an old enemy"
"Take your time, hurry up"
In this song, Cobain sings over and over, "I don't have a gun." Less than three years after the song was released, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. This was an eerie turn of events, but it's unlikely that Cobain had suicide on his mind when he wrote the lyrics. The gun could be a reference to a time when Cobain's mother got mad at her husband (Kurt's stepfather) and threw his guns in a river. Cobain says he recovered some of them, sold them, and used the money to buy his first guitar when he was 15.
In 2005, a sign was put up in Aberdeen, Washington, Cobain's hometown, that reads "Welcome to Aberdeen: Come As You Are" as a tribute to Cobain. The sign was paid for and created by the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee, a non-profit organization created in May 2004 to honor Cobain. Founded by author Jeff Burlingame and Aberdeen City Councilman Paul Fritts, the Committee also plans to create a Kurt Cobain Memorial Park and a youth center in Aberdeen.
"Right Now” is a pretty cocky tune, taken from the "Loud Hailer”, the eleventh studio album by guitarist virtuoso Jeff Beck, released on 15 July 2016 on Atco Records.
Mr Beck put his foot on his wah-wah and letting out his inner Hendrix out on "Right Now” together with the cocky Rosie’s lyrics ends up to be a real killer tune. Just hit play and see your self play air guitar together with Jeff Beck.
At the Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ, Jeff Beck performs today’s tune "Right Now" with Rosie Bones - vocals, Carmen Vandenberg - guitar, Rhonda Smith - bass and Jonathan Joseph - drums. The clip is filmed live in Atlantic City NJ 7/23/2016
FATHER JOHN MISTY (A.K.A. Josh Tillman) takes aim at Internet age self-absorption on his hilarious new single "Ballad of the Dying Man."
"Pure Comedy" is the upcoming third studio album released by American folk musician FATHER JOHN MISTY. Its release was announced on January 23, 2017. It is to be released on April 7, 2017, in the UK and Europe on Bella Union, and in the rest of the world on April 7, 2017, on Sub Pop. This is Tillman's third studio album since his departure from FLEET FOXES. It has been produced by Joshua Tillman in collaboration with Jonathan Wilson, sound engineer Trevor Spencer and composer/double-bassist Gavin Bryars
"Pure Comedy" is the story of a species born with a half-formed brain. The species’ only hope for survival, finding itself on a cruel, unpredictable rock surrounded by other species who seem far more adept at this whole thing (and to whom they are delicious), is the reliance on other, slightly older, half-formed brains. This reliance takes on a few different names as their story unfolds, like “love,” “culture,” “family,” etc. Over time, and as their brains prove to be remarkably good at inventing meaning where there is none, the species becomes the purveyor of increasingly bizarre and sophisticated ironies. These ironies are designed to help cope with the species’ loathsome vulnerability and to try and reconcile how disproportionate their imagination is to the monotony of their existence.
In light of the album announcement, Tillman released their 25-minute short film Pure Comedy: The Film, captured by a six-person room throughout the recording of the album. He co-directed with Grant James. It is a monochromatic depiction of the live tracking and Tillman’s writing process.

The album is Adams' first album of original material since his 2014 album Ryan Adams and was preceded by the singles "Do You Still Love Me?," "To Be Without You," and "Doomsday.”
Adams said he initially wrote nearly 80 songs for the record, that pretty creative. During the writing of the album he was in the middle of his divorce from Mandy Moore. "To be me and to go through that the way that I did was destructive on a level that I can't explain," Adams said. "So a lot of extra work went into keeping my chin up and remembering what I did and what I loved about who I was.”

Atlanta’s hairiest have made a cracking new album "Emperor Of Sand” it’s the seventh studio album by American metal band MASTODON. The album is scheduled to be released on March 31, 2017 through record label Reprise.
This time they have Brendan O’Brien (who they collaborated with on their 2009 album "Crack the Skye") back on producing duties and the new album reflects on death and survival with sobering themes like mortality, life, family and cancer. With the two new tunes released the sound is heavy so the new album sounds promising.
The album was recorded at the Quarry in Kennesaw, Georgia and mixed at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Following the album's release, the band will embark on a tour in the United States from 14 April–20 May 2017, with support from EAGLES OF DEATH METAL and RUSSIAN CIRCLES.

Monday, new week, time to introduce ”Record Of The Week"
"Heavy Fire" is the third studio album by hard rock band BLACK STAR RIDERS, released on February 3, 2017. BLACK STAR RIDERS evolved from the touring version of THIN LIZZY, assembled by guitarist Scott Gorham after the death of THIN LIZZYs leader Phil Lynott. The band's first two albums "All Hell Breaks Loose" and "The Killer Instinct" were released in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
The band formed in December 2012, when members of the most recent line-up of THIN LIZZY decided to record new material, but chose not to release it under the THIN LIZZY name. While THIN LIZZY will continue on an occasional basis, BLACK STAR RIDERS is a full-time band, described as "the next step in the evolution of the THIN LIZZY story".
The band is fronted by Ricky Warwick, and features guitarists Scott Gorham and Damon Johnson, bass guitarist Robbie Crane and drummer Jimmy DeGrasso.
The album was Recorded at Rock Falcon Studio in Nashville. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who's known for the densely layered, muscular sound he has brought to albums by ALICE IN CHAINS, DEFTNESS, EVANESCENCE and MASTODON.
"Heavy Fire” follows the same charted path as the previous albums, it’s a is a delightful release of great melody and duelling guitars of Gorham and Johnson. The album spins like a cat on the turntable, great swinging with classic raw power. It's heavy bluesy, excellent slinky riffage, marvellous singing and 10 catchy tunes. All from the bluesy title track to the vintage guitar tune "Dancing with the Wrong Girl" and "Testify or Say Goodbye", the heavy and raw "When the Night Comes In", "Who Rides the Tiger" to the half pace "Cold War Love" and "Fade", yes the tunes will evoke THIN LIZZY from time to time, but still this is something different, the band has really succeeded to manage the past without stepping in the wrong hole and this certainly is something you should get, ok!.
Summary: "Heavy Fire” is a fresh rock album with a good-old-grey legacy.
Here is a picture from last year, when the album got a spin here in Stockholm.
The album has been marketed via PledgeMusic, and its release will be followed in March 2017 by a full UK tour supported by GUN with THE AMORETTS and BACKYARD BABIES sharing the opening support slot.
The first single from the album, "When the Night Comes In", was premiered on Planet Rock radio on November 15, 2016. The follow-up single and today’s tune "Testify or Say Goodbye” was first played on BBC Radio 2 by Ken Bruce on January 5, 2017.
"Dancing With the Wrong Girl" and "Cold War Love" are the first BLACK STAR RIDERS songs to feature bassist Robbie Crane credited as a composer. Heavy Fire is Crane's second album with the group.
"Letting Go of Me" is the first BLACK STAR RIDERS song not to be co-written by Damon Johnson.
The album is the group's first to feature keyboards. Damon Johnson contributes mellotron on unspecified tracks while producer Nick Raskulinecz plays on "Letting Go of Me". "Testify or Say Goodbye" features organ from session musician Fred Mandel.
Sunday, time for a classic, the best one that suits a dark Sunday is "By the Grace of God”
The tune is the title track taken from is the fifth album released by the Swedish rock band THE HELLACOPTERS. The CD version of the album came in three different combinations of the red, white and black cloud and lightning design. The design would become a trademark for the band and was used on backdrops, merchandise, different record covers and in music videos. The LP version released in Sweden had a black cover and vinyl while the European version had a white cover and vinyl. Limited edition versions of the album in Japan and America also featured "Red Lights" and the Rory Gallagher song "Big Gun" as bonus tracks. Another special American version also featured an embossed logo, a fold-up digi pack and a patch.
Today's tune "By The Grace Of God” is a masterpiece by THE HELLACOPTERS, just listen to the lightening fast and fluid fret work of ”Strängen" (Strings) and the thunderbolts drumming by Robert Ericsson, the groovy melody man Kenny Håkansson, the piano magical ”Bobba" and for last, the mastermind him self Nicke Andersson, a hell of songwriter.
Here is a live clip from Rockpalast, Rock am Ring 2008
”Strängen” (The String) or as Robert Dahlqvist (16 April 1976 – February 2017) was a Swedish guitarist and vocalist best known for his tenure with the rock band THE HELLACOPTERS. He was also the lead singer and guitarist in THUNDER EXPRESS (DUNDERTÅGET), a band originally started as a side project to his work with THE HELLACOPTERS. At the time of his death, aged 40, Dahlqvist had nearly completed his first solo album.
It’s with big sadness to say goodbye to ”Strängen”. I hardly knew him, I met him on several occasions, a really good man, always pleasant, arrived and greeted, chatted happily about the discs which was our common interest. During the last year, was invited to his "Vinyl Club" as he had at home, an opportunity to share music and play music. A very nice initiative of string, a meeting that I looked forward, a meeting that unfortunately will never occur. Strängen was a real rocker, something we needed in this strange up fucked world. I would like to say something to avoid speculation, He did not kill himself, he died of an accident.
One of his best friend wrote an very good article about him in the Swedish newspaper
SVD Read it.
Today’s tune ”Bangatan” was a single from his ”upcoming” (dunno if it’s ever going to be released) album. And as Stefan Sundström said about the tune.
Listen to the string and listen to the alarm bells from Bangatan. Four Horsemen ride down the lamb and soon break the seventh seal. Hallelujah and Hail Rock n 'Roll! Smash all prejudices!

MEMORIAM was primarily developed to fill the void that was left following the tragic death of Martin "Kiddie" Kearns, the drummer from BOLT THROWER, back in September 2015.
BOLT THROWER subsequently placed all activity on hold for the foreseeable future which gave Karl Willetts an opportunity to develop a new project with friends that had expressed interest in forming a band for some time.
MEMORIAM are an old-school death metal band, maintaining the high standards set by their previous bands, focusing on the themes of death, loss and war. Initially the band members got together to play covers of songs that had influenced them throughout their careers within the death metal scene, however it soon became apparent that the new songs that they created were of a superior standard.

The band has a full album of material scheduled for recording during the spring of 2017, titled »For The Fallen«. But before their label debut is released, a brand-new EP will shorten the wait for all death metal fans. The EP called »The Hellfire Demos II«, out on January 2017, will contain two demo versions of new tracks from this Old School death metal machine and taking the same line as BOLT THROWER and BENEDICTION.
