Time to wrap up Way Out West and post the last one from the festival. This time it was my 10th Way Out West of 11 :) The weather was pretty good, only two days with rain, site was in good condition and easy to build on, the volunteers was awesome as always in Gothenburg and made the life easy for us in the crew. The music was ok, even if I would love to have some more Rock than the festival supply´s. The vegetarian food was really good this year, good mix of various dishes. My favourite this year of all the artists is Ryan Adams and PIXIES. Both bands deliverd great music.
Here comes a batch of some live and odd pictures from the almost 2 weeks that I spent over there.
First picture i took, a shot of the small lake in the Dungen area.

"Blank Space" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her fifth studio album 1989 (2014). It was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback. The song was released to the radio by Republic Records on November 10, 2014 as the album's second single, after "Shake It Off" and is the second track on the album. Musically, "Blank Space" is an electropop song with lyrics that satirize the media's perception of Swift and her relationships.
Ryan Adams' cover version of the song was featured on his Taylor Swift tribute album, 1989 (2015). Father John Misty released a cover version of the song in the style of the rock band The Velvet Underground in 2015. The cover is a reinterpretation of Adams' version and is built on the melody of the song "I'm Waiting for the Man."
Today's tune "Blank Space" is taken from the fifteenth studio album "1989" by American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, released digitally through his own PAX AM record label on September 21, 2015. The album is a track-by-track cover of Taylor Swift's album of the same name. It debuted at number 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart, one position ahead of Swift's 1989, which was in its 48th week on the chart.
Adams first became interested in Taylor Swift's album while coping with the collapse of his marriage to Mandy Moore. On what attracted him about Swift's album, Adams stated "There's just a joy to 1989," describing the album as "its own alternate universe." Adams initially described the album as being in the style of The Smiths. When recording the album, Adams said he found a sound somewhere between Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and The Smiths' Meat Is Murder.
It’s Thursday, It’s Way Out West, let’s pick an artist and play a tune and hey, let’s pick a cover.
Ryan Adams has always walked his own path, regardless of what it’s meant for his career. With a background in Punk, Adams has – via alt-country and classic rock – developed a sound that exists in-between the past and the present. But most importantly, he’s always managed to sound like himself without ever compromising with his creativity. His latest release is called ”Prisoner", and has already been crowned the best thing he’s done since his solo debut Heartbreaker. A classic break-up record, the highly personal album deals with Adams recent divorce and the emotional rollercoaster that followed.
Ryan Adams started his career in the alt-country group Whiskeytown during the 90’s, and released his solo debut soon after the band disbanded. Since, Adams has released 16 studio albums that all have made an impact among his many fans. Stockholm is actually the city that streams Ryan Adams the most in the world, and this summer we will find him not in Stockholm, but in Gothenburg for his first performance at Way Out West, he plays tomorrow in Slottsskogen.
Ryan Adams delivered a haunting, solo acoustic version of RADIOHEADs "Karma Police" during a Saturday spot in January this year on BBC Radio 2. The singer-songwriter stayed true to the epic "OK Computer" ballad, even creatively crooning the eerie, descending vocal melody from the song's bridge.
"Karma Police" is a song by the English alternative rock band RADIOHEAD, released as the second single from their third studio album OK Computer (1997) on 25 August 1997. The song's title and lyrics derive from an in-joke among the band, referring to karma, the Hindu theory of cause and effect. The song became a commercial success, charting at #8 on the UK Singles Chart and at #14 on the US Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. Critical reception to the single was also favourable. In 2008, the song was featured on the Radiohead: The Best Of compilation album.
"Karma Police" is in a 4/4 time signature and played in standard tuning. The first half of the song is in the key of A minor. The second half (starting with the line "For a minute there") is in B minor. Acoustic guitar and piano are the most prominent instruments in the song, and the chord progression owes an audible debt to The BEATLES song "Sexy Sadie". During the second section, an analog synthesizer imitating a choir is featured.
”Prisoner" is the upcoming sixteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams. It is scheduled for release on February 17, 2017. The album is Adams' first album of original material since his 2014 album Ryan Adams and was preceded by the singles "Do You Still Love Me?," "To Be Without You," and "Doomsday.”
Adams said he initially wrote nearly 80 songs for the record, that pretty creative. During the writing of the album he was in the middle of his divorce from Mandy Moore. "To be me and to go through that the way that I did was destructive on a level that I can't explain," Adams said. "So a lot of extra work went into keeping my chin up and remembering what I did and what I loved about who I was.”

His eighth studio album "Ballads of the Broken Few" (Released September 16, 2016), is a stunning combination of his dynamic songwriting and playing. The tunes are stripped back to their very essence, just check out today's tune of the title track below.
"Ballads of the Broken Few" is produced by the genius Ethan Johns, a man who has a excellent CV, he has worked with the likes of Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Ray LaMontagne, Laura Marling, The Staves and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He agreed to produce the album after Seth sent him one roughly recorded song on his mobile phone, with Wildwood Kin adding their lush harmonies to his own gritty lead vocals.
