Norway's avantgarde metal heroes ENSLAVED continue to exist as one of the most dependable components in extreme metals indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts in metal, they once again offer us talent of the highest calibre with eight new songs, rightly doing justice to their signature extreme/black/Viking/progressive metal sound.
ENSLAVED will be releasing the new single on a Limited Edition 7" vinyl format, limited to 500 pieces. The single will be out on June, 26th and can be pre-ordered here: http://nblast.de/HomeboundVinyl
ENSLAVED's upcoming album "Utgard", will be released in fall 2020.
The tracklist reads as follows:
1. Homebound [A-side]
2. Knights Of The Thunder (TNT Cover) [B-side] - will be played later as a Thursday Cover.
The B-side of the "Homebound" Vinyl is an exclusive to this format.
The band states: "Homebound' is about the greatest reward of exploring and traveling into unknown territory - to "go viking" if you will, turning Homebound at the end of the journey. It is a song that takes Enslaved on a musical journey that is as much an homage to those who dared so we could play our very own style of music: from nurturing blackened roots to nodding at zeppelins in the sky, beholding teutonic thrash titans and watching speeding motorpsychos take off into the futures."
The band recently revealed new details about the upcoming record - propelling the listener deep into their world, the musicians explain:
"Utgard bears countless meanings to us; an image, metaphor, an esoteric 'location', a word on its own etc. – on different levels and layers. From Norse mythology we know it as a landscape where the giants roam; where the gods of Asgard have no control; dangerous, chaotic, uncontrollable and where madness, creativeness, humour and chaos dwell.
The album is a journey into and through Utgard. It is a place of unification of that which is above and that which lies below. It is not about avoiding fear of the pitch-black darkness (it will keep on growing until the next confrontation), but to go into the darkness itself. This is the rebirth of the individual. In a world that has become so obsessed with the false lights of greed, jealousy and egotism this is a necessary journey.
Utgard is not a fairytale, it is a vital part of both your mind and your surroundings, and it has been since the dawn of mankind. Acknowledging that this realm exists and is a vital part of the self, has inspired us deeply since the early days of our lives. Enjoy our journey to the outer limits."
Enjoy today's tune "Homebound", taken from the upcoming album "Utgard".
"Motorhead" is the eponymous song of the British heavy metal band of the same name. It was originally recorded by the space rock band HAWKWIND, of whom the song's author, MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, had been a member from 1971 to 1975. It was the last song that he had written for them, but it had only been released as the B-side of the single "Kings Of Speed", in March 1975. In May of that year, Lemmy was fired from HAWKWIND and formed a new band, naming it after the song. It indicated the direction in which he planned to go: hard rock, not space rock. MOTÖRHEAD recorded two new versions of the song later that year, one as part of a demo session with producer Dave Edmunds and then another as part of the sessions for what was meant to have been MOTÖRHEADs debut album. However, their record label, United Artists Records, decided to shelve the project and dropped the band without releasing any of the material. Over a year later, the song was recorded yet again for Chiswick Records, during the session for their actual debut album and was released ahead of it, in June 1977, as their second 7" single.
Initially issued with the Map of Chiswick label, it was later switched to the Big Beat label and pressed in other formats. The reverse cover is taken up almost entirely with the song's lyrics, printed in a lowercase form of blackletter. Most of the original singles have the words "a porky prime cut" inscribed on the run-out groove, indicating that the record was mastered by George Peckham. A variety of supporting messages also appear.
Chiswick also released a special 12" vinyl edition which was limited to 12,500 copies, it has the same sleeve, tracks and catalogue number – Chiswick S13.
On April 28, 1979 Lemmy was interviewed by John Tobler on BBC Radio 1's Rock on Saturday show, MOTÖRHEAD, Leaving Here and Limb from Limb were played
In September 1979 Chiswick released a 7" vinyl picture disc in two pressings, black and white, and blue and white as well as single colour pressings in black, blue, pink, orange and white vinyl – catalogued Big Beat NSP13 and NS13 respectively.
In 1981, a live recording, "Motorhead" was released as a single and reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. This single is their highest-charting single in the UK Singles Chart.
In 2008, the song was re-recorded as downloadable content for the rhythm game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, along with "Stay Clean" and "(We Are) The Road Crew".
It was covered by PRIMAL SCREAM on their 1997 album Vanishing Point.
The single was released on 10th June 1977, with "City Kids" as B-side. The Video is filmed 1981.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, GHOST's "Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic": "Kiss The Go-Goat" and "Mary on A Cross" will be re-released by Loma Vista on September 27 and can be preordered via GHOST's web site and from all digital platforms. Check out GHOST's webisode "Chapter 8: Kiss the Go-Goat" for the whole story.
A press release offered the following back story for GHOST's new single:
"Back during the summer of 1969, an up-and-coming band called GHOST, fronted by Papa Nihil, played its first date at the Whisky A Go Go on Hollywood's Sunset Strip. The show was to celebrate GHOST's first release on Galaxy Recordings, 'Seven Inches of Satanic Panic', the double-A-side seven-inch single featuring 'Kiss The Go-Goat' and 'Mary On A Cross'. This original GHOST lineup eventually disbanded and the single, its original tapes, and the band's only promo and live performance of 'Kiss The Go-Goat' ever filmed, were lost...that is until recently when the songs and the Super 8 footage were discovered and resurrected by Papa Nihil..
The limited-edition "reissue" of Ghost's "Seven Inches of Satanic Panic: 'Kiss the Go-Goat' and 'Mary on a Cross'" will be available on September 27th. Look for that and more, including the collector's dream "Prequelle Exalted" vinyl-and-book box set, on the band' webstore.
GHOST is known for special, limited-edition items that have been tied to its various album releases — an eight-track edition of "Ceremony & Devotion", and for "Prequelle", a seven-inch die-cut-as-rats vinyl disc of the album's first single "Rats", offering the album on a variety of different colored cassette tapes, and the lenticular cover for "Prequelle"'s special vinyl edition as well as five alternate covers for the retail edition. On September 27, GHOST will release a plethora of limited, exclusive items tied to the "Prequelle" album and world tour: the deluxe collector's edition, "Prequelle Exalted", with only 5000 sets produced. Log on to ghost-official.com for all purchasing information.

For the arena tour hardbound photo book and the exquisite, suitable-for-framing 12" X 12" prints, Ryan Chang photographed GHOST on tour over the course of a year, documenting the band's live performances throughout Europe, Canada and the United States, including the special guest spots on METALLICA European "WorldWired" stadium tour this summer. The 12-page booklet of new prints was created by GHOST's longtime visual collaborator Zbigniew M. Bielak, offering 10 stunning illustrations, each one a visual representation of the 10 songs on "Prequelle".
"Prequelle" was produced by Tom Dalgety and originally released in on June 1, 2018. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award as "Best Rock Album", and for Sweden's Grammis award as "Best Rock/Metal Record Of The Year", and Dalgety received a Grammy nomination as "Producer Of The Year." Both Revolver and Kerrang! magazines named "Prequelle" the best album of 2018, and the album produced three Top 10 singles — "Rats", "Dance Macabre" (both of which went to No. 1 at Rock Radio) and "Faith". To date, "Prequelle" has accumulated some 250 million streams globally.
GHOST will kick off its fall/winter North American and European "Ultimate Tour Named Death" headline arena trek on September 13, see all the dates below.
Today's tune "Kiss The Go-Goat" is the brand new single, the tune will be included on a new limited-edition seven-inch single which will be released on September 27. "Kiss The Go-Goat" will be backed by another new song, "Mary On A Cross", enjoy!

Reverent as it is prophetic and stark, King Dude has previously shared his spiritual visions with releases on Dais, Avant!, Bathetic, Clan Destine, and Ván records. Pulling together the biblical sound and isolation of the bygone days of revelation with an atmosphere filled with hope and salvation, King Dude has woven his own brand of American music.
He brandishes many varied influences in his songwriting. Everything from British Folk, Americana, Country and Blues can be heard in his songs. Even the heavier sounds of Heavy Metal tend to sneak and slither it's way into the King Dude canon. The resulting songs are much more of a modern-day hymn then your average pop song. King Dude's music beg's the soul to lift itself up from the darkness of ignorance, towards the ever shining glorious "Light" that exists outside of all of us yet that which we are eternally connected to and at once connects everyone on Earth.
King Dude and Chelsea Wolfe did reunite to create another seven-inch vinyl tune of collaborative songs entitled "Sing More Songs Together...". Was released March 25th, 2014 on Not Just Religious Music.

Southern California trio WARISH released their debut EP on RidingEasy Records via Brooklyn Vegan earlier this year.
Imagine if Incesticide era NIRVANA were crossed with Static Age era MISFITS. You’d have sinister low budget horror rock with a visceral, twisted weirdness and bludgeoning riffs. Some might call it nightmarish, we call it WARISH.
WARISH is a very newly minted SoCal trio formed in early 2018 that has wasted no time making its presence known. The band formed when guitarist/vocalist Riley Hawk and drummer Bruce McDonnell decided they wanted to try their hand at something more distinct than they’d done previously.
“We wanted to do simpler riffs and a fun live show,” Riley explains. “A little more punk, a little bit of grunge… a little evil-ish.”
Their sound takes cues from a variety of cool underground sounds and twists it all into an energetic and exciting fist to the face of dark fury. Hawk’s effect-laden vocals hearken to early BUTTHOLE SURFERS and David Yow’s tortured caterwaul in Scratch Acid. The guitars are heavy and powerful, though decidedly not straightforward cookie-cutter punk; more like Cobain’s and Buzz Osbourne’s wiry contortions. The rhythms bash and pummel right through it all with aggressive force ensuring that nothing gets overly complicated and the horrors keep coming throughout the 5-track, 11-minute debut.
Toronto’s BLOOD CEREMONY is one of the most established names in the underground scene and forerunners of the so-called occult rock movement. After four very successful studio albums, they gift us with this fresh material release, a 7" single featuring brand new recordings.
The A-side, "Lolly Willows", is a surefire instant classic in the BLOOD CEREMONY canon, groovy flute and catchy and well-played melody with cool riffing, whilst the all-important B-side is a fantastic cover a lesser known gem by THE WHO, titled "Heaven & Hell".
This single is a promising teaser of what is about to come on their upcoming album.
The Canadian doom rockers SMOULDER have released their debut full-length album "Times of Obscene Evil and Wild Daring". Released by Cruz del Sur Music. Music is classic doom and old school heavy metal, with a fantasy theme with Mythical & Magical world in their lyrics. The sound brings the mind to bands like KHEMMIS and SOLITUDE AETERNUS but with female vocals.
The album was recorded at The Lincoln County Social Club & Swift Road Studios. Mixed and Mastered by Arthur Rizk. Cover Art by Michael Whelan
SMOULDER consists of:
Bass | Adam
Guitars | Collin
Vocals | Sarah Ann
Drums | Kevin
Guitars | Vincent
Today's tune "Sword Woman", taken from the debut album "Times of Obscene Evil & Wild Daring", video is a fan cut video by "Hundra".
"Are You Satisfied?" is a single with the Canadian indie/blues rock band REIGNWOLF. The single was released 2 August 2013.
Jordan Cook was raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. By age 15, he had a blues rock trio which performed at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival.
After recording an album under his own name, "Seven Deadly Sins", Cook began recording in Memphis, Tennessee with Matt Chamberlain and SOUNDGARDENs Ben Shepherd. Around 2012, Cook moved to Seattle and adopted the REIGNWOLF moniker. Cook’s first official show under the new name was at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard, Washington, with a new band featuring Joseph Braley and David "Stitch" Rapaport. Cook performs as both a one-man band accompanying his guitar with a kick drum, and with Rapaport and Braley.
REIGNWOLFs single, "Are You Satisfied", plays over the closing credits of the pilot episode of the HBO series, "The Leftovers".
A video clip was released from a rainy festival at Music Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia where REIGNWOLF is performing Are You Satisfied?

Swedish cultists YEAR OF THE GOAT released their new seven-incher "Song of Winter" Dec 9th last year.
Atm YEAR OF THE GOAT are out on the road in Jan/Feb, along with the countrymen THE ORDER OF ISRRAFEL and the Norwegian rockers TOMBSTONES.
"For many years Francoise Hardy has been part of our playlist while on the road. As soon as "Song Of Winter" played the thought that we really should do a cover of it at some point always presented itself. Lyrically we find it going very well with the theme of our first album and also with the one we’re planning at the moment. The B-side on the other hand lyrically draws more towards our second album “The Unspeakable”. One could probably say that the wonderful and talented Francoise Hardy is helping us build a bridge between our last album and the one to come.”
“Song of Winter” released by Parisian singer/actress/model Francoise Hardy on 1969’s "One-Nine-Seven-Zero”
Today’s tune “Song of Winter” is the brand new single by YEAR OF THE GOAT, Release limited to 500 copies. GOLDEN Vinyl limited to 200 copies, exclusively available through Napalm Records
Here is the original version of "Song Of Winter" with Francoise Hardy
Sweden’s THE STROLLERS return with a brand new blistering 45 ahead, the upcoming 7" single "Gotta Get Away", due April 22nd, 2016.
Formed in 1992 THE STROLLERS quickly made a reputation of being one of the wildest & hardest garage rock acts in Scandinavia. They started playing small clubs in Örebro (Sweden) and soon they went to do festivals and toured most parts of Europe. But the wild living and internal fights took its toll and in 2001 the story was over. Or so everyone thought…
THE STROLLERS had a brief reunion in 2006. Now, many years later, the original lineup crawls back up from the grave. After a much appreciated appearance at garage rock legend Jens Lindberg’s (THE MAHARAJAS) 50th birthday party the band has now decided to reform. People who witnessed the show will tell you they sounded better than ever!
THE STROLLERS released two nowadays hard to get 45s and two full length albums; “Falling Right Down” (1999, Low Impact Recordings) and “Captain Of My Ship” (2000, Low Impact Recordings). And who knows - maybe there is more to come??

"Roots Bloody Roots" is a song by Brazilian band SEPULTURA. It was released in February 1996 as the lead single from their sixth album Roots. The song is the band's best known and remains a concert staple to this day, usually being performed on encores. A music video was filmed for the single which features the band performing in an underground cave as well as on the streets with a tribe of percussionists. This video can be found on the VHS "We Are What We Are", which was later released on DVD as part of "Chaos" DVD.
The song also appears in live form on the band's live releases Under a Pale Grey Sky and Live in Sao Paulo. Another live version appears on the limited edition digipak version of the band's 2000 album Nation. Former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera has also played the song live numerous times with his other bands SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Recordings of their version can be found on the limited edition versions of the albums SOULFLY and PROPHECY, as well as on the DVD "The Song Remains Insane".
The music video was directed by Thomas Mignone and won the Kerrang "Video Of The Year Award" in 1996, as well as a nomination for the MTV Brazil "Best Rock Video" Award. Filming was done in the catacombs underneath the city of Salvador, where the Brazilian slaves were sold. The video is distinguished from other heavy metal imagery by its atypical use of the natural beauty of Brazil, including its traditional capoeira fight, Timbalada percussionists, and indigenous people, as well as native tribes playing the drums in their tribe uniforms. The video also shows scenes of Catholic churches.
Releases
The single was released on 2 CDs and 7” vinyl. The first CD was presented in a card foldout digipak case, while the second was in a standard slimline jewel case. Early copies of the digipak version were embossed with a stamp of the band's thorned ‘S' logo. The vinyl was a strictly limited edition and was red in colour.
Found this when i was searching for the Roots cover, kinda funny :)
SEPULTURA is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte. Formed in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, the band was a major force in the death metal, thrash metal and groove metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their later experiments drawing influence from nu metal, hardcore punk and industrial metal. SEPULTURA has had several changes in its lineup since its formation, with Max and Igor Cavalera departing in 1996 and 2006, respectively. Sepultura's current line up consists of vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande.
SEPULTURA has released thirteen studio albums to date, the latest being The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart (2013). Their most successful records are Arise (1991), Chaos A.D. (1993) and Roots (1996). SEPULTURA has sold over 3 million units in the USA and almost 30 million worldwide, gaining multiple gold and records around the globe, including in countries as diverse as France, Australia, Indonesia, United States, Cyprus and their native Brazil. SEPULTURA is currently working on a new album, which is due for release around late 2016.
Swedish act Vidunder released their brand new single “Gone With Dawn” on March 18th. Now it’s time for the horrifying video!
Vidunder is a bluesy rock band with a touch of garage, influenced by the music from the 60’s and the 70’s. The band teamed up with Crusher Records and released their self-titled debut album in May 2013; an album praised by numerous major magazines, press, fans and did a pretty big impact here on Tune Of The Day. After several tours over Europe it’s definitely about time… A new album is coming up!
The first taste is the brand new single that also will be released as a bundle bonus in the pre-order for the new album.
The 7” flexi is strictly limited to 500 copies and is only available as a bundle with the LP or CD at Crusher Records shop (use link below).
The video “Gone With Dawn” goes in the "The horror theme", is a thriller by the earlier kind reminiscent of bygone horror films. A story about an old lonely vampire, party, noble anger and sudden death.
The video is a concoction of the song's theme, mixed with the band's common fascination for old horror movies and interest to run around in old baroque clothes. It is produced by Petter Cronquist along with the band, and is filmed in Skåne’s (a southern part of Sweden) Transylvania.
The song is a taste of how Vidunder sounds nowadays, and builds on something a little more cocky and rock n rollin than before. It centers on the horrors that come with becoming vampire and having to yield to desires of the flesh.
The sound has got its natural development of the addition in the form of Jonathan on the organ, mixed with extensive touring, many wrestling matches, backgammon and snuff poker and a whole bunch of cool people we have met along the way."
Todays tune "Gone With Dawn" taken from The upcoming album ”Oracles And Prophets” is due on May 22nd via Crusher Records. Pre-Order it here:
The video is directed by Petter Cronquist and Vidunder. Shot, special effects and edited by Petter Cronquist. Video released 2nd of April 2015.
