Långfinger - Herbs In My Garden

The book of Långfinger began on the washy shores of Göteborg, Sweden, in the late 00’s. The three gentlemen Victor Crusner, Kalle Lilja and Jesper Pihl boarded a ship, with no idea whereas their future endeavours shall lead them. Their task is not the most difficult, but never the less failed by many others in the past. The task, that is creating music, not only for personal liking, But also to make every man’s life a more enjoyable state of art.

With their music based in the 70’s era with powerful guitar-riffs, dynamic vocals and an instant but yet vibrant beat, Långfinger certainly knows how to make the floor move and the ceiling groove.

In June 2010, their debut album entitled ”Skygrounds” hit the shelves. Followed up by a successful radio showcase in national radio, three sold-out shows in their hometown and a Swedish tour, you can at least say that 2010 was a year of Långfinger’s liking.

In 2011, the adventure embarked on the same page they left off in 2010, they went to Europe and made noise, and back home they went in to the the studio for a follow-up. An album that was recorded in the well-known studio entitled “Svenska Grammofon Studion”. It was decided to release the songs from one of these sessions on a stand-alone EP release on November 5th, entitled “Stare Me Blind”.

The 3rd release and the second album, however, was being worked on from the early days of autumn in August to the cold shivering days of November, as it slowly emerged to becoming their finest work up to date. “Slow Rivers”, is the name of this new creation that contains of nine songs that exemplifies the group at its best. It features guest appearances by Ebbot Lundberg and Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm from The Soundtrack of Our Lives, some sitar, glockenspiel and off course the regular wailing of guitars, the pounding drums, the loud bass and a constant roar, creating enough of a sound to guarantee the greatest of listenings. Slow Rivers hit the shelves on february 10th 2012.

Members:
Kalle Lilja - Guitars and backing vocals

Lucinda Williams - Copenhagen

This Sunday stood Lucinda Williams at Circus Scene and gave us a really nice, intimate evening of classic Americana. The sound was brilliant, the performance was really good. Everything was wonderfully unadorned, petite backline and the band was slimmed to only guitarist Doug Pettibone and bassist Dave Sutton. One evening, as I are likely to remember for long time.

Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, blues, and country music singer and songwriter.

She recorded her first albums in 1978 and 1980 in a traditional country and blues style and received very little attention from radio, the media, or the public. In 1988, she released her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams. This release featured "Passionate Kisses," a song later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter which garnered Lucinda her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994.

Known for working slowly, Lucinda recorded and released only one other album in the next several years (Sweet Old World in 1992) before her greatest success came in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. This album presented a broader scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country, and Americana into a more distinctive style that still managed to remain consistent and commercial in sound. It went gold and earned Lucinda another Grammy while being universally acclaimed by critics. Since Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she has released a string of albums that have also been critically acclaimed, though none have sold in the numbers of her 1998 breakthrough. She was also named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002.

Here are a few pictures:

Todays tune "Copenhagen" is taken from the tenth studio album "Blessed", her eleventh album overall. It was released in 2011 on Lost Highway Records and includes guest appearances by Elvis Costello and Matthew Sweet. The song itself is a tribute to a close friend who passed away when Lucinda was out on tour in Europe.

Kadavar - Come Back Life

Then it was Monday again, time to present this week's Record of The Week.

This week it will be the German retro rock band "Kadavar" with the latest record “Abra Kadavar”. It was already with 2012’s eponymous debut album that Kadavar casted a spell on all fans of solid riff-driven yet doom-like 70’s hard rock à la Sabbath. Marrying this with the spacy psychedelic approach of early Hawkwind and mixing in a distinct own touch while preserving their icon’s warm vintage charm can doubtlessly be considered the trio’s key to success. The new album is prefectly suited for those with long beard :) and want to escape the 21st century’s soulless musical mishmash by entering the realms of “Abra Kadavar“, a down-to-earth handmade classic rock from a time when music still used to be true art!

The world’s leading scientists recently declared in unison: time travel can no longer be considered fiction but reality! Neither did their certainty originate from hypothetical thought experiments, nor from years of testing in isolated laboratories. It was the record of a rock trio from Berlin, Germany, that had dropped into the professors’ laps out of the blue and led them to proclaim joyfully: “Warm, intense, authentic – doubtlessly a gift from bygone times!”

Kadavar consists of:

Lupus Lindemann - Vocals/ Guitar
Mammut - Rivoli
Tiger - Drums

Todays tune "Come Back Life", taken from their recently released second studio album "Abra Kadavar"! The clip was directed, filmed and edited by Nathini van der Meer & Annikki Heinemann of "Oddisee Films"

Lita Ford - Mother

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May. It complements Father's Day, a similar celebration honoring fathers.

The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

As the American holiday was adopted by other countries and cultures, the date was changed to fit already existing celebrations honoring motherhood, such as Mothering Sunday in the United Kingdom or, in Greece, the Orthodox celebration of the presentation of Jesus Christ to the temple (2 February). In Sweden the celebration occurs on the last Sunday in May.

Todays tune "Mother" to celebrate my wife and mother to my children. This one is for you baby! Love you! The tune is taken from the eighth studio album "Living Like a Runaway" from American rock-musician Lita Ford, released in June 2012.

Lita Rossana Ford (born 19 September 1958) is an American rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who was the lead guitarist for The Runaways in the late 1970s before embarking on a solo career in the 1980s.

Bon Jovi - Because We Can

Because We Can, The Tour is the fifthteenth concert tour by American rock band, Bon Jovi. The tour is in support of the band's twelfth studio album What About Now. The tour is named after the lead single from What About Now.

All five major continents will be visited during the 2013 tour. The tour will see the band travel to Wales for the first time since their 2001 One Wild Night Tour and it will also be the first time in since their 1995 These Days Tour that the band will be returning to the shores of Africa for two dates in South Africa. Furthermore, Because We Can : The Tour will be the first time in the band's 30 year history that they will be visiting Bulgaria and Poland.

Yesterday they visited Sweden and Stockholm for a gig at Stockholm Stadium. With a pretty cool stage set and a very spirited Bon Jovi it became a really entertaining show. Support for the evening was the Swedish act "Satan Takes A Holiday". Here are some snapshots from the phone.

Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi (John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, and drummer Tico Torres. The band's lineup has remained mostly static during its history, the only exception being the 1994 dismissal of bass player Alec John Such, who was unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald. In 1986, Bon Jovi achieved widespread global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet. The band's fourth album, New Jersey was equally successful in 1988, and between 1986—1995, Bon Jovi had 13 U.S. Top 40 hits, including four number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100: "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Livin' on a Prayer", "Bad Medicine", and "I'll Be There for You".

Other Top 10 record chart hits included "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Born to Be My Baby", "Lay Your Hands on Me", "Bed of Roses" and "Always". The success of Bon Jovi's 2000 single, "It's My Life", helped introduce them to a younger audience, as has the use of different styles in their music, such as the appearance of country in 2007's Lost Highway. Lost Highway debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, as did 2009's The Circle. On March 12, 2013, Bon Jovi released their 12th studio album, What About Now. Thus far, Bon Jovi has released 12 studio albums, plus three compilations and two live albums. They are one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 100 million records and performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 35 million fans.

Todays tune "Because We Can" is the first single released from Bon Jovi's twelfth studio album, What About Now.

Children Of Bodom - Transference

Halo of Blood is the upcoming eighth studio album by Finnish melodic death metal band Children of Bodom (COB). It is due to be released on June 6, 2013.

The band is from Espoo, Finland and was formed in 1993, the group currently consists of Alexi Laiho (vocals, lead guitar), Roope Latvala (rhythm guitar), Janne Wirman (keyboards), Henkka Seppälä (bass), and Jaska Raatikainen (drums). In total they have released seven studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums and one DVD.

The band has incorporated many different musical styles, leading critics and fans to label them as melodic death metal, power metal, thrash metal, and early symphonic black metal and neoclassical metal. They are one of Finland's best selling artists of all time with more than 250,000 records sold there alone.

Comments COB guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho: "'Transference' is a straight-up COB to-the-core-type song and therefore was a good pick for a video and obviously is one of our favorite tracks. It always had an evil vibe to it, which I wish I knew how to explain because it still gives me chills… Enjoy!"

Commented Laiho: "'Halo Of Blood' is the eighth studio album from COB, and believe it or not, but we still managed to keep it fresh and new while still maintaining the elements that make COB sound recognizable. It's got the fastest and the slowest song we ever made and lyrics wise there are themes we had never had before. It's 10 new songs of pure Nordic metal and whether you enjoy it with a beer or a glass of water, I'm sure you will have a good time."

Drummer Jaska Raatikainen described on Facebook that the new material as dark and "also little sick "black" metal-ish".

The album is produced by Swedish producer Peter Tägtgren. Halo of Blood is expected to feature a guest appearance from Annihilator guitarist Jeff Waters. The cover art was created by Sami Saramäki, who was responsible for the artwork on previous COB albums "Follow The Reaper", "Are You Dead Yet?" and "Hate Crew Deathroll.

Todays tune "Transference" was released in April 24, 2013 and the video in May 13th.
