ELDER and KADAVAR have announced their upcoming collaboration record, a concept album recorded during late winter/spring 2021. A statement from ELDER follows:
“Some of you have probably noticed a few clips of us playing with our friends in KADAVAR in their own Robotor Studios this spring. Over the past years, ELDER has been split up across continents, with three members in Germany and one in the US – a difficult situation exacerbated by lockdowns and travel restrictions. In times of this social and creative isolation, our Berlin-based members teamed up with Lupus, Tiger and Dragon to write and record some music together. We’ve been tight-lipped about this project so far, but today we’re happy to finally shed some light on our creation.
What began as an idea to just jam with a ‘let’s-see-what-happens!’ mentality became a trip on its own, and after months of digging through jam sessions, writing and re-writing parts and developing a plan not just for an improvised record but for a true concept album, we’re proud to give a first glimpse of ‘ELDOVAR: "A Story of Darkness & Light"'.
ELDOVAR: A bond between KADAVAR and ELDER. “A Story of Darkness & Light”: An intimate, touching, billowing, roaring piece of music, a sublime manifesto of musical freedom that we paradoxically owe a horrible pandemic.
"The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)" is a song written by Peter Green and recorded by FLEETWOOD MAC. It was released as a single in the UK in May 1970 and reached No. 10 on the British charts, a position it occupied for four consecutive weeks. "The Green Manalishi" was the last song Green made with Fleetwood Mac before leaving the band.
The song was written during Green's final months with the band, at a time when he was struggling with LSD and had withdrawn from other members of the band. While there are several theories about the meaning of the title "Green Manalishi", Green always maintained that the song is about money, as represented by the devil. Green was reportedly angered by the other band members' refusal to share their financial gains.
Green has explained that he wrote the song after experiencing a drug-induced dream in which he was visited by a green dog which barked at him. He understood that the dog represented money. "It scared me because I knew the dog had been dead a long time. It was a stray and I was looking after it. But I was dead and had to fight to get back into my body, which I eventually did. When I woke up, the room was really black and I found myself writing the song." He also said that he wrote the lyrics the following day, in Richmond Park. Supposedly, he was unable to record Robert Johnson's "Hellhound on My Trail" following the incident, having conflated Johnson's hellhound with the green dog-demon of his dream.[citation needed] This is supported by his discography, in which Green's sole post-Manalishi cover of "Hellhound" was sung by bandmate Nigel Watson.
Today's version is made by the german rock band KADAVAR, taken from the new split single where they are teaming up with LUCIFER for a limited split 7“. Both bands dug through their records and chose a classic track to cover. KADAVAR recorded a version of "The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown) by FLEETWOOD MAC and on LUCIFERs side, you´ll hear "Pull Away / So Many Times" by DUST. Limited to 1500 total with 5 different color options. Enjoy today's cover of "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)"
The three-piece psychedelic rockers KADAVAR is back again with their fifth record "For The Dead Travel Fast", entitled after German gothic poet Gottfried August Bürger.
As always with KADAVAR is a great time to let the beast loose on the turntable, what do they have in their luggage on this creation and what is lurking in the corner this time, the expectations are pretty high as the latest album releases have had a very high quality and a cruel end product.
Here the lads take us out on a perilous journey into the land of the dead, a foray into the bleakest corners of our minds. The spooky album cover is taken in front of Dracula’s alleged crib in Transylvania, mysterious Castle Bran, the whole album is drenched in superstition, Romanian folklore and the mysterious ways of our psyche.
"For The Dead Travel Fast" have almost everything from clear singles (7") like "The Devil’s Master" and the tango rocker "Dancing With The Dead", both catchy rockers with a great swing where you will get a true euphoria after a few mins. The beautiful upbeat and energetic "Evil Forces" to vibrant soundtracks tunes like "Children Of The Night" and "Demons In My Mind" where synth and modulation seek out from the shadows like a small mist in early mornings. The album ends with two ballads, the atmospheric slow-paced "Saturnales" and the beauty bluesy "Long Forgotten Song" that have a small drum solo in the end, wicked, but it works out well here.
Christoph “Lupus” Lindemann (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Christoph “Tiger” Bartelt (drums) and Simon “Dragon” Bouteloup (bass) have fully embraced the darkness that has been kept at bay in recent years. That old horror soundtracks and Werner Herzog’s ‘Dracula’ had a huge impact on this album can be heard in this concept piece or art, with longer, more embellished songs not particularly drawn to ordinary song structures. They have reached a new level of artistry and creative injection, to boldly go where they never went before, only to rediscover their very roots along the way. It's fascinating that they keep such a high class from album to album, magic is everywhere...as they repeatedly say in "Suspiria"? Now five strong albums into their stellar career and I can only clap my hands to the lads with BIG FREAKING WELL DONE.
"For The Dead Travel Fast" was released by Nuclear Blast Records on October 11, 2019
Sum: 70's psychedelic horror rock at it's best, you absolutely need this!

Berlin, Germany-based rock overlords KADAVAR have released the official music video for the brand new single, "Children Of The Night". The song comes off the band’s highly anticipated new album, "For The Dead Travel Fast". The album is set to be unleashed on September 20th.
KADAVAR will hit the road along with the new album release, in the beginning of November with a pretty substantial European tour. That’s how it goes. Put out a record and tour. KADAVAR, certainly, have done it before, see all the dates below.
The new tune sounds a bit slicker than before, but the vintage heavy riffs is still around, sounds great so far, really looking forward to the new one.
Today's tune "Children Of The Night" is the second single taken from the upcoming fifth album, the video production was handled by Victor Puigcerver, while graphics and animation were done by Christopher Burrows, enjoy!

"Rough Times” is the fourth album by the German rockers KADAVAR and it reaches the 7th place on the Tune of The Day's TOP 100 album list of the Best Albums 2017.
A free-thinking rollercoaster ride thru Berlin!
"Rough Times" is great follow up to "Berlin", were the band recycle their previous creations and makes an album were there's a little something here for everyone. The band have really put in some effort to their work, it swings like the old lady sings.
The production is great, the sound is rich, crisp and thick. The tunes are engaging and powerful with a great groove. Read the review here!
Today’s tune ”Die Baby Die” is taken from "Rough Times”, enjoy!

At the first spin my thoughts was thinking, the guys like classic old school pop and have applied it here. Well that's not really true, here is no pop, even if there is some promiscuous references here, the main thing is rock and nothing else. Sometimes you have to listen to the whole thing and not just loose fragments.
Just take tunes "Skeleton Blues" and "Into The Wormehole" where the guys fancyiness for the dank-deep-into-the-soaked-bottom sounds of stoner doom, where everything is turned to max, and yes they do it. Both tunes are killers! The title tune "Rough Times" is a heavy piece where nothing will stand still, wonderful creation of melody and harmonies, you will walk like a happy creature after listening to this! "Die Baby Die" is a catchy son of a bitch, great guitar riffing, heavy drumming, amazing bass playing and really cool lyrics with a superb vocals. "Vampires" is a another great tune, goes in the more classic heavy rock approach, knocking bass line that combines the furious drummer in perfect way and a stunning vocals part along with bustle guitar riffs makes this a killer track. "Tribulation Nation" with it hammering bass line and catchy lyrics just makes you to feel good. "Words of Evil" is classic rocker and says hello with both hands in the sky to BLACK SABBATH. "The Lost Child" with it's 60's psychedelic acid sound along with a mysterious groove in a really beautiful way. "You Found the Best in Me" smells old western, horses, hill billies, laid back, softish and loveful. The album closes with "A L'Ombre Du Temps", a odd, but cool stand out tune where they experiments with spoken word and in French.
The production is great, the sound is rich, crisp and thick. The tunes are engaging and powerful with a great groove.
Sum: A free-thinking rollercoaster ride thru Berlin!

The Danish dwelling doomers DEMON HEAD are back and ready for releasing their second album "Thunder On The Fields", set to be release 7:e April by The Sign Records.
This Copenhagen quintet blows the same style of pipe as KADAVAR and ORCHID. The music steps on the same pattern as BLACK SABBATH, thick and heavy. Give it a spin, you might like it.

Monday and a new week, that means it's time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
The Swedish Psychedelic Blues Rockers BLUES PILLS are back with their second album "Lady in Gold". A record that was released in August 2016.
"Lady in Gold" consists of ten tracks including a cover of Tony Joe White's "Elements and Things" from the 1969 album "...Continued". "Lady gold is a character who symbolizes death. The band wanted a twist on the typical stereotype of death being the grim reaper. So instead they made her a lady in gold." Don Alsterberg (GRAVEYARD, DIVISION OF LAURA LEE and JERRY WILLIAMS) once again took the production role of the album. It also marks the studio debut of drummer André Kvarnström. The cover art are made by dutch artist Marijke Koger-Dunham.
"Lady in Gold" is a proper sophomore full-length. A really bold and infectious record, the songs are well handcrafted, a great swing with a grooviness is freaking hard to sit still during a spin. The songs have a very high catchiness witch would appeal to the broader mass of fans.
Elin Larsson voice very Soulful and Bluesy, think Aretha Franklin with an attack of Janis Joplin. The music continues where they last ended, a sweet confetti Blues-rock with a strong psychedelic vibe and excellent songs, some tunes have a little more popish approach than they use to have, nothing bad with that. This is a very strong album that probably will gain even bigger landmark than the previous album. The future looks really bright.
Sum: Don't miss "Lady in Gold", it's an psychedelic soul fueled blues-rock trip that will spin more than one time!
In 2016, BLUES PILLS will tour with KADAVAR, play festivals in the summer in North America and Europe followed by a UK tour in November.
Today's tune "Lady In Gold" is the title track from this week's "Record of The Week"

Reich der Träume (German, "Realm of Dreams") is an obscure bonus track taken from the third studio album "Berlin" by German rock band KADAVAR, released on 21 August 2015. It was the first album to fully feature new bassist Simon Bouteloup.
Together with long-time friend and collaborator Nathini van der Meer (http://nathinivandermeer.com), who has created artwork and videos for them in the past, they are working on their first "Visual Album"- 12 short films accompanying each of the albums' songs, to be released once a month throughout the entirety of the year.
Commented the band: "The song was originally written for Nico by Lutz Graf (LÜÜL), known for his work with bands like ASH RA TEMPEL, AGITATION FREE or 17 HIPPIES. It is the first song Lupus sings German on. We liked the heavy mood of the song. Within the music as well as in the lyrics. It's one of the most beautiful Nico songs which unfortunately was barely recognized until now. We were very proud when we got LÜÜL's blessing to cover the song."
The Video was directed, edited & filmed by Nathini van der Meer.
Today's KADAVAR unofficial cover art (Garden Of Bones) for "Reich Der Träume" is made arkadenstrike.tumblr.com

The German psychedelic rock band KADAVAR have released their third studio album "Berlin". This is the first album fully featuring new bassist Simon Bouteloup as founding members Lindemann and Bartelt continue to feature.
The bonus track on this album is a cover of Nico's Reich der Träume. The band will go on a European tour throughout November and December to promote the album.
The record was released on 21 August 2015 with a vinyl record of four versions.
After working for four months in the studio, the band finalized the production process of the new album on 1 June, according to their facebook page.
Drummer and producer Christoph "Tiger" Bartelt commented the following:
"About ten years ago, when we - independently of one another - moved to Berlin, we just wanted to break free from home and do something new. I thought it was comfortable, to blend in and just live from day to day. A lot of very long nights and so many completely different people at one place. Where there are opposites you can always ground yourself. We’re all different, come from different places but have managed to create something together we all like. I think the Berlin lifestyle has influenced our band very much and therefore fits perfectly as the album’s title."
The eleventh track of the record 'Into The Night' was chosen by pro skater Riley Hawk in his compilation album Riley Hawk: Northwest Blow Out EP presented by Scion AV.
The band, who were founded in Berlin, 2010, show attributes of both psychedelic rock and stoner rock in their music. They are considered retro rock due to their sound being described as similar to bands of the 70s hard rock/heavy metal era. KADAVAR currently consists of three members.
Today's tune "The Old Man" is taken from the album "Berlin"
Greek stoner has quicklystart spreadingon the world map, like an Virus named "Quality". I have found many good bands of this genre that are really infected by this! So I will continue to hand out some cool and good acts for you to discover and all from Greece, I hope that you will enjoy it this week.

On December of 2010 the band recorded their 1st self-financed Ep “First Gear” performed Live in studio. On March 2011 the cd comes in 300 copies with handmade covers , which has a positive response from the fans.
