"Junior's Eyes" is a tune made by the English rock band BLACK SABBBTH, taken from the eighth studio album "Never Say Die!", released in September 1978. It was the last studio album with the band's original lineup and the last studio album to feature original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne until the 2013 album "13". It was certified Gold in the U.S on 7 November 1997 and as of November 2011 has sold 133,000 copies in the United States since the SoundScan era. The album received mixed reviews, with critics calling it "unbalanced" and insisting its energy was scattered in too many directions.
"Junior's Eyes" was dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne's father, who died in 1977 while they were making "Never Say Die!" Ozzy was booted from the band the following year and launched a successful solo career. He returned to the band from time to time, including for Live Aid in 1985.
"Junior's Eyes" was covred by the Canadian psychedelic rock band BLACK MOUNTAIN and the band have blessed the world with two unreleased songs, “Junior’s Eyes” and “Future Shade (Demo)” on thier latest single release on March 10th on Jagjaguwar.
Stephen McBean says of the cover of "Junior’s Eyes":
“Deep end period Ozzy slow burn. Some Butler / Ward funk, Iommi wah flutters and floating synths … randomly rediscovered on a cruise through some red sand tropics. Nearly ten years on and still pulling riffs from the sky…. never say die! You’re never too old to switch on and upwards!”
The rock canon has many anti-heroes, BLACK MOUNTAIN being the latest. In the past, Can’s 'Tago Mago' established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules. Delinquent proto-metallers Black Sabbath demonstrated that you can make a lot from not that much. Now BLACK MOUNTAIN teach us that you don’t have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future.
"Solitude" is a tune by English rock band BLACK SABBATH, it was released on the third studio album "Master Of Reality" on 21 July 1971. It is regarded by some critics as the foundation of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal.
Today's cover is a stripped down and very beautiful version of the tune. It's made by the Boston, Massachusetts based fine artist Marissa Nadler. Singing in a mezzo-soprano, Nadler has received acclaim for her vocals. Her voice is really beautiful and touching, or as Pitchfork described her voice as one "you would follow straight into Hades".
The cover is released on the Sacred Bones release "What Is This That Stands Before Me?", a compilation of SABBATH covers recorded by artists from across our roster. The clip I found is live at Jazzhouse, Cph. 11.7.2017, Enjoy!
"Supernaut" is the fifth song from the album Vol. 4 by British heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH. The tune is known for it's "riff", a tune that has inspired many rock acts during the years.
Sacred Bones Records is celebrating BLACK SABBATH's self-titled and "Paranoid" records with a brand new covers album called "What Is This That Stands Before Me?". The covers album features Thou performing "Supernaut," Marissa Nadler doing "Solitude," and quite a few more!
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of both the self-titled BLACK SABBATH album and "Paranoid", Sacred Bones is proud to present "What Is This That Stands Before Me?", a compilation of SABBATH covers recorded by artists from across our roster. BLACK SABBATH stands at the crossroads of every Sacred Bones employee and artist's musical taste, and it was a great pleasure for us to work together to reimagine some of their most beloved songs. Here you'll find SABBATH through the filter of the post-Soviet darkwave of MOLCHAT DOMA, the experimental folk of HILARY WOODS, the laid-back psych of MOON DUO, and a half dozen more genres besides. Satan's coming 'round the bend.
Today's version is made by the American sludge metal band THOU, a band that was formed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2005.

A few days ago did the debut self-titled studio album by the English rock band BLACK SABBATH turn 50 years. It was released on 13 February 1970 in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the opening track of the album, "Black Sabbath", is widely considered to be the first doom metal song.
According to BLACK SABBATHs guitarist and founder member Tony Iommi, the group's debut album was recorded in a single day on 16 October 1969. The session lasted twelve hours. Iommi said: "We just went in the studio and did it in a day, we played our live set and that was it. We actually thought a whole day was quite a long time, then off we went the next day to play for £20 in Switzerland."
Aside from the bells, thunder and rain sound effects added to the beginning of the opening track, and the double-tracked guitar solos on "N.I.B." and "Sleeping Village", there were virtually no overdubs added to the album. Iommi recalls recording live: "We thought, 'We have two days to do it and one of the days is mixing.' So we played live. Ozzy (Osbourne) was singing at the same time, we just put him in a separate booth and off we went. We never had a second run of most of the stuff."
The key to the band's new sound on the album was Iommi's distinctive playing style that he developed after an accident at a sheet metal factory where he was working at the age of 17 in which the tips of the middle fingers of his fretting hand were severed. Iommi created a pair of false fingertips using plastic from a dish detergent bottle and detuned the strings on his guitar to make it easier for him to bend the strings, creating a massive, heavy sound. "I'd play a load of chords and I'd have to play fifths because I couldn't play fourths because of my fingers," Iommi explained to Phil Alexander in Mojo in 2013. "That helped me develop my style of playing, bending the strings and hitting the open string at the same time just to make the sound wilder." In the same article bassist Geezer Butler added, "Back then the bass player was supposed to do all these melodic runs, but I didn't know how to do that because I'd been a guitarist, so all I did was follow Tony's riff. That made the sound heavier."
Iommi began recording the album with a white Fender Stratocaster, his guitar of choice at the time, but a malfunctioning pickup forced him to finish recording with a Gibson SG, a guitar he had recently purchased as a backup but had "never really played". The SG was a right-handed model which the left-handed Iommi played upside down. Soon after recording the album, he met a right-handed guitarist who was playing a left-handed SG upside down, and the two agreed to swap guitars; this is the SG that Iommi modified and later "put out to pasture" at the Hard Rock Cafe.
BLACK SABBATHs vocalist Ozzy Osbourne has always spoken fondly of the recording of the band's debut album, stating in his autobiography I Am Ozzy, "Once we'd finished, we spent a couple of hours double-tracking some of the guitar and vocals, and that was that. Done. We were in the pub in time for last orders. It can't have taken any longer than twelve hours in total. That's how albums should be made, in my opinion." Drummer Bill Ward agrees, telling Guitar World in 2001, "I think the first album is just absolutely incredible. It's naïve, and there's an absolute sense of unity – it's not contrived in any way, shape or form. We weren't old enough to be clever. I love it all, including the mistakes!" In an interview for the Classic Albums series in 2010 Butler added, "It was literally live in the studio. I mean, (producer) Rodger Bain, I think he's a genius the way he captured the band in such a short time." In his autobiography Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven & Hell with BLACK SABBATH, Iommi plays down the producer's role, insisting, "We didn't choose to work with Rodger Bain, he was chosen for us ... He was good to have around, but we didn't really get a lot of advice from him. He maybe suggested a couple of things, but the songs were already fairly structured and sorted."
The cover of BLACK SABBATHs self-titled debut, which came out 50 years ago today, has become one of rock’s most iconic and captivating album sleeves. A witchy-looking woman stands alone in the woods in a haunted underworld, staring out at you, clutching something — her cloak? a cat? The cover features a depiction of Mapledurham Watermill, situated on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England. Standing in front of the watermill is a figure dressed in black. The name of the woman pictured on the front cover is Louisa Livingstone.
The inner gatefold sleeve of the original release was designed by Keith McMillan (credited as Marcus Keef) and featured an inverted cross with a poem written inside of it. Allegedly, the band were upset when they discovered this, as it fuelled allegations that they were satanists or occultists; however, in Osbourne's memoirs, he says that to the best of his knowledge nobody was upset with the inclusion. "Suddenly we had all these crazy people turning up at shows," Iommi remembered in Mojo in 2013. "I think Alex Sanders (high priest of the Wiccan religion) turned up at a gig once. It was all quite strange, really." The album was not packaged with a gatefold cover in the U.S. In the liner notes to Reunion, Phil Alexander states, "Unbeknownst to the band, Black Sabbath was launched in the U.S. with a party with the head of the Church of Satan, Anton Lavey, presiding over the proceedings...All of a sudden Sabbath were Satan's Right Hand Men."
Today's tune "The Wizard" is a song taken from their 1970 album "Black Sabbath". It is the second track on the record. The song was composed by all four members of the group and was produced by Rodger Bain. "The Wizard" was the B-side to the title track of the band's second album "Paranoid".
"The Wizard" is about a wizard who uses his magic to encourage people he encounters. In a 2005 interview with Metal Sludge, BLACK SABBATH bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler said the song's lyrics were influenced by the wizard Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings. It was also believed to be about the band's drug dealer at the time.
Time to present album number nine out of ten of the assignments we got. "Choosing 10 vinyl albums that greatly influenced my taste". One album per day, 10 consecutive days. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. Every day I ask someone else to do the same." Throwing the ball at some nice figure at the social media Facebook.
That BLACK SABBATH is a huge influence for me is pretty clear if you read this blog. The band has been around for ages. I believe the first record I got with SABBATH was the second studio album "Paranoid".
Today's tune "Fairies Wear Boots" is a song by the English heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH, from their 1970 album "Paranoid". It was released in 1971 as the B-side to "After Forever". The album was released 18 September 1970. The band's bassist Geezer Butler states the music was inspired by the band's encounter with skinheads, who are the "fairies" in the song. Tony Iommi states the title was inspired from an incident when Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne were smoking cannabis and saw fairies in boots running around a park, and not from an encounter with skinheads. In Ozzy Osbourne's autobiography I Am Ozzy he stated he does not know what the song is about, but everybody told him he wrote the lyrics. 😂😂😂

Sunday, time for a classic and some cake, it's Thetanias birthday.
So for her, we play a tune with one of her absolutely favorite band BLACK SABBATH.
"N.I.B." is a song released by British rock band BLACK SABBATH. It first appeared as the fourth track on the band's 1970 debut album, "Black Sabbath". The lyrics are in the first person from the point of view of Lucifer. Lyricist Geezer Butler has said that "the song was about the devil falling in love and totally changing, becoming a good person."
"N.I.B." begins with a bass solo by Geezer Butler, titled "Bassically" on some US releases. It includes heavy use of a wah-wah pedal. The song's main riff (as well as Osbourne's vocal delivery) have been noted for their CREAM-influenced sound — the song has even been referred to as "the raucous defiling of CREAM".
When the song was first released, its title was widely rumored to have stood for "Nativity in Black", or to a lesser extent "Name In Blood". In a 1992 interview, Geezer Butler states that the title simply refers to Bill Ward's goatee at the time, which the rest of the band thought was shaped like a pen nib; also referred to as nibby. Apparently, Geezer Butler said: "Originally it was Nib, which was Bill's beard. When I wrote N.I.B., I couldn't think of a title for the song, so I just called it Nib, after Bill's beard. To make it more intriguing I put punctuation marks in there to make it N.I.B. By the time it got to America, they translated it to Nativity In Black." Ronnie James Dio can be heard mentioning (but not confirming) this assumption on several live bootleg recordings with the band from the early 1980s and on the 2007 released Live-CD Live at Hammersmith Odeon, recorded in 1982.
Enjoy today's tune and Happy Birthday Thetania, this one is for you! Here is a clip when BLACK SABBATH performing N.I.B. live at the Olympia in Paris, France on December 20, 1970
After 10 years and 4 albums, you don't have to introduce this band.
Between SPIRITUAL BEGGARS and BLACK SABBATH there is a LONELY KAMEL sitting.
Blues, grooves and a bottle of booze!! Inspired by heavy blues-legends, this hard-hitting band from Oslo, Norway is producing classic hard rock, stoner rock with a lot of... blues. Mix it up with 2 spoonfuls of doom and psychedelia and you got LONELY KAMEL.
LONELY KAMEL consists of:
Thomas Brenna (vocals & guitar)
Stian Helle (bass & backing vocals)
Espen Nesset (drums)
Vegard Strand Holthe (guitar)
Jøran Normann (guitar)
Today's tune "More Weed Less Hate" taken from their new album "Death’s-Head Hawkmoth", filmed live at their release party at John Dee, Oslo.
"Fairies Wear Boots" is a song by the English heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH, from their 1970 album "Paranoid". It was released in 1971 as the B-side to "After Forever".
In the 2010 documentary film Classic Albums: BLACK SABBATHs "Paranoid", Geezer Butler states the music was inspired by the band's encounter with skinheads, who are the "fairies" in the song.
However, in the 2004 release of Black Box: "The Complete Original Black Sabbath" (1970–1978), Tony Iommi states the title was inspired from an incident when Geezer and Ozzy were smoking cannabis and saw fairies in boots running around a park and not from an encounter with skinheads. In Ozzy Osbourne's autobiography I Am Ozzy he stated he doesn't know what the song is about, but everybody told him he wrote the lyrics. Per an interview with the band on AXS TV's show Classic Albums, the song was about skinheads.
On US copies of the album, The intro to the song was entitled "Jack the Stripper".
An earlier version of "Fairies Wear Boots", taken from a session for the BBC's John Peel Sunday Show dated April 26, 1970, is on the bonus disc of the Ozzy Osbourne release The Ozzman Cometh.
The song also appears on the band's first compilation album, "We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll".
In 2014, CVLT Nation asked if MONOLORD would be apart of their BLACK SABBATH “Covers” Series and assigned "Fairies Wear Boots" to the band. None of us could have imagined that this would become one of the most epic SABBATH Covers EVER!
New week, time to introduce the "Record Of The Week".
"The Door To Doom" the latest and twelfth studio album from legendary Swedish doom heavyweights CANDLEMASS and for the first time in 22 years, original vocalist Johan Länqvist (who left the band after singing on the legendary 1986 debut Epicus Doomicus Metallicus) reunited to bring their next unholy preachment with big steps and invites BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi to make a guest appearance on one track. Even if I just got used to hearing the voice of Mats Levén on a CANDLEMASS tune, wonder what happened to him, anyway it's great that they have convinced Johan to get back again and he does a great job with the singing duties on the album. His vocals have hard rock, bluesy sound that gives the tunes another layout that we have got used the last decade. The singers have been changed quite often during their carrier but the main band has been consistent since 2004. Consists of the main man Leif Edling on bass, Mats Björkman and Lars Johannsen on guitar and Jan Lindh on drums.
"The Door To Doom" consists of eight tunes spread over forty-eight minutes of play time. The music picks up right where the band left off last time, doomish mid-pacing riffing along with heavy atmosphere where they hail the demon with an unholy sermon, the guitar solos are amazing and they keep a great groove in the tunes with menacing melodies and crawling tempos. The sound quality is superb, could be the best I have heard with the band. 'Good Morning Demon Majesty' is the first lyrics in the album opener, the driving character "Splendor Demon Majesty", a groovy piece with a catchy chorus, heavy riffing, great solo. The tune follows up by a grand riffing of "Under The Ocean", opens up gently and soft before it burst out like a wild volcano. In the next one in line "Astorolus – The Great Octopus” that features an amazing guitar solo by the guest appearance Tony Iommi. Here we get one of the highlights on the album, a powerful doomish piece with an astonishing guitar solo. This follows up with a sorrowful and moody "Bridge Of The Blind", a soft and beautiful piece with very sensitive and touching vocals by Johan, an emotional guitar solo by Lars. "Death's Wheel" is a heavy and catchy musical tune, bombastic drum beat and wild guitar rhythm. A tune that follows the same recipe is the crusher "House Of Doom", the first tune out of this album, back then with Mats Levén, now with Johan doing the vocal duties. The tune also has a cool church organ solo in the middle part that gives the tune the little extra. "Black Trinity" is another heavy piece, the creepy atmosphere in the riffing gives the tune a darker and demonish pallet for Johan to work with. Wonder if Tony Iommi was here as well, the solo is brilliant. The album closes with the epic "The Omega Circle", a superb tune that shows that Johan hasn't aged a year since his last performance. The tune is greatly balanced with all the involved and let them perform at their top and gives the tune good variations of moody and powerful heavy doom. A giant ends this album.
Well done lads and I really hope that you work together and gives more music to love in the future. All I want to do I start all over again.
I was lucky to see them live a week a ago when they performed at the Globe as the support act for GHOST. They did a great performance and sounded really good live. But if they do a show as a headliner at a smaller place here in Stockholm I certainly will go.
Sum: "The Door To Doom", epic world class doom metal that relies on slow mammoth riffing might have released the doom album of the year? Well for god sake, don't miss this one.
Today's tune "Astorolus - The Great Octopus" is taken from the album "The Door to Doom", released on February 22, 2019, Napalm Records.
Today's cover of the tune "Solitude" is made by the Norweigan musical group ULVER. Since their first, folklore-influenced black metal release entitled "Bergtatt -- Et eeventyr i 5 capitler" (1994), ULVERs musical style has been fluid and increasingly eclectic, blending genres such as rock, electronica, symphonic and chamber traditions, noise and experimental music into their oeuvre, but with a heavy reliance on electronic recording techniques.
"Solitude" is taken from the seventh dark and tragic studio album "Shadows Of The Sun" that was released in October 2007 via Jester Records and The End Records. "Solitude" is a BLACK SABBATH cover; the original version appears on their 1971 album "Master of Reality".
"Master of Reality" is the third studio album by English rock band BLACK SABBATH, released on 21 July 1971. It is widely regarded as the foundation of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal. It was certified double platinum after having sold over 2 million copies. "Master of Reality" was BLACK SABBATHs first and only top 10 album in the US until "13", forty-two years later. The tune "Solitude" from the album "Master of Reality" featuring a delay effect, it was added to Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals on this song to provide the effect of a second vocal track. This song features the multi-instrumentalist talents of Sabbath guitarist Tommy Iommi (who also plays flute & piano on the recording). This song is about being depressed after breaking up with somebody.
Tony Iommi comments that this "might be the first love song we ever recorded." Having been inspired by his very brief gig with JETHRO TULL.
NEKROMANT is a 3-man-piece hailing from the Swedish city of Vänersborg, the band – formerly known as SERPENT – are renowned for delivering a raw, gritty and direct assault, cast in the fires and a dedicated melting pot of metallic inspirations which include BLACK SABBATH, PENTAGRAM and Texan rockers, THE SWORD.
Following the release of their self-titled album in late 2015 on Transubstans Records, the band played extensively both home and abroad at large shows such as Sweden Rock Festival and toured with fellow Swedes, Cities of Mars. Their album NEKROMANT (released under the band’s original name) received unanimous praise by critics and fans alike and led to a very successful start in 2016 for the trio. Having caught the attention of American underground giants Ripple Music, who immediately fell in love with the way the band wore their influences proudly on their sleeves, with the dark and heavy majesty of "Snakes & Liars" (2017) NEKROMANT undoubtedly carried a torch for old-school metal.
NEKROMANTs song holds less fascination with Walpurga than the whole underbelly of Walpurgis Night itself. Something is about to rise from the dead and torment the living and we get to hear the excitement of Sankt Walpurgisnacht from the perspective of one of its celebrants, with the hint that this necromancer, however malevolent, is desperately seeking to be reunited with a long lost lover. I have to say that the guitar play is an absolute delight to behold. It’s crisp, vibrant, on-point, and harmonizes splendidly with the rhythm section, which bears the marks of seasoned musicianship. Look for "The Nekromant Lives" to emerge on vinyl and CD formats via Ripple Music, released on October 19th, 2018.
Today's tune "Blood For Walpurgis" is the first single from their new album "The Nekromant Lives". The tune is a tight, twisted number about Walpurgis Night, named for the man held up by German believers as their emissary in battle against the wiles of the Devil and all them witches, in particular, which would come out to play on Hexennacht. To this day, Christians set bonfires ablaze in Saint Walpurga’s name on the eve of April 30th, with hopes of chasing away demons of all kinds.
ABOLETH is a dirty heavy blues bruisers from dusty California. On May 25th they released their debut album "Benthos", order it from their bandcamp here!
From "Benthos" we pick the a video released of the tune "No Good", a heavy blues rocker with more ZEPPELIN than SABBATH, catchy hooks, sludgy riffs and a vocal that really shines pieces of Joplin whisky-drenched soaring vocals occasionally. The Video is directed by Dugan Na$H, the director of photography: Mariana Fiel First AD: Duffey Westlake Editor: Dugan Na$H. Album artwork: Brigitte Roka photo: George Contreras
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".
The San Francisco four-piece heavy rock band THE WATCHERS, with members of SPIRALARMS, ORCHID, and BLACK GATES, reaches high with their debut full-length "Black Abyss", We made acquaintance with them already when they released their first EP "Sabbath Highway" (read it here).
"Black Abyss" is a great release, where we get impressing songwriting and tunes with grunge, the eighties inspired heavy rock, melodic riff-based rock with an attitude that is perfectly balanced in the main structure of the tunes. It's well performed without getting too complex, more straightforward approach in a very interesting way to keep it fun to listen to. The production is high, very crisp and ear friendly, would love to get a copy on vinyl to be more precise in my judgment.
"Black Abyss" is an eight-tune long-player that opens up with the title track, a bombastic doom rocker that pays tribute to the mighty BLACK SABBATH. "Alien Lust", melodic riff-laden guitar tune with excellent vocals by Tim Narducci and guitar solos by Jeremy Von Epp and cool bass licks by Cornbread and drumming of Carter Kennedy sticks. "Oklahoma Black Magic" is following the two opening tunes, the vocals is a bit more SABBATH-like but the music is more modern hard rock metal, thrashy riffing, great tune. "Buzzard" follows a more melodic path, modern riffing where vocals have a Layne Staley touch. "Starfire", classic hard rock with a grunge vibe, see it below. "People Of The Gun" where guitarist Jeremy Von Epp plays with all his body and soul. Supurb tune! "Suffer Fool" opens up with acoustic guitar until it turns electric, classical swirl with a light SOUNDGARDEN feeling. "Seven Tenets" closes the record with slow and heavy guitar riffs and a great solo. "Black Abyss" is masterful mixing of Metal Legend Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, MEGADETH and more) behind the knobs, "Black Abyss" is a return to the classic metal riffing of yore, soaked in fuzz and dragged head first into the 21st Century. "Black Abyss" was released at March 09th 2018.
Sum: Excellent rock, the 70s meet the 21st, if you dig SPRIALARMS and ORCHID, You will adore THE WATCHERS.
Today's tune "Starfire" is taken from "Black Abyss", enjoy!
UNDERWING was formed at the beginning of 2016 on the southern coast of Norway more prices at Arendal/Grimstad. Their vision was clear from the outset: creating a unique, honest musical expression.
By merging the groovy rhythms found in 70’s rock, the melancholic atmosphere of 90’s grunge and the sonic complexity of modern progressive metal and blues. UNDERWINGs soundscape can best be described as progressive grunge.
Accompanying the music are lyrics that deal with a number of subjects such as mental health in today’s materialistic society, life, death, all draped in an overarching theme of existentialism.
The quartet released their debut effort, “Kaela Upsweep”, on Indie label Pinecone Records on May 20, 2017, which quickly garnered critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. The music featured on their debut has been compared to legendary acts such as ALICE IN CHAINS, BLACK SABBATH, and TOOL.
UNDERWING consists of:

The british Occult doom legends ELECTRIC WIZARD is back in business again after some time off, they will release their new album "Wizard Bloody Wizard", on November 10 via Spinefarm.
The record has been described in a press release as:
"forty-three minutes of cranium-crushing bludgeon rock, a relentless aural brain rape and, like the band's beloved vintage horror/exploitation movies, definitely not for those of a nervous disposition."
The official video for the album's opening track "See You In Hell" also today's tune, can be seen below.
That BLACK SABBATH is the main source for the band is no doubt about that. The reference is already in the upcoming album title "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" or as i saw when I was surfing for info:
"Any metalhead worth his or her salt will immediately recognize as an homage to U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday”. ☺
"Real heavy music… really basic heavy rock, blues-based but brutal" is exactly what ELECTRIC WIZARD is.
The record is made all in analog recording and has been produced by Oborn and Liz Buckingham (guitar) in their own Satyr IX Recording Studio.
The LP sleeve and art has also been conceived by the band and echoes, again, their love of the macabre, evil and sleazy. A sick and twisted bad taste eye-assault that aims to titillate, excite and repulse you.
"Sex and violence are our basest instincts," Oborn says. "I guess we think that engaging the brain and guts on this most basic, primal level is the fastest way to grab people's emotions… It's 'shock' tactics, but the world is so fuckin' brainwashed or bored that they need to be 'woken up'. The 'man' is slowly neutering and killing us with technology and lies… It's time to fight back."

Monday, New Week, Last Day of July, time to introduce ”Record Of The Week”.
DUNSMUIR is a very intressting side project, a band that includes members from CLUTCH, FU MANCHU, DIO/SABBATH etc catching your interest huh? The album was released July 22, 2016.
DUNSMUIR crew is composed of super rockers such as CLUTCH s frontman, Neil Fallon navigating vocals, legendary drummer Vinny Appice of DIO era BLACK SABBATH, the FU MANCHU bassist Brad Davis and Dave Bone (from Dave's & Fallon’s other-side-project, THE COMPANY BAND) anchoring away on the guitar.
The self title album ”Dunsmuir" is a real rocker, it’s like a heavier version of CLUTCH or a more rockier FU MANCHU dipped in BLACK SABBATH, an inevitably fantastic combinations. Think, Crackers and Cheese, Cinnamon roll and milk, BLACK SABBATH and CLUTCH, catching the drift.
”Dunsmuir” is a catchy son of a bitch, with 10 tunes clocking in at 35 mins, too short for me so the repeat button was hit kind quickly. After a few spins in my headphones I got hooked. Ordered my Vinyl on the spot. ”Dunsmuir” is a concept record about the fates met by survivors of a 19th century shipwreck.
Already with the opening tune “Hung on The Rocks” you hear Neil Fallon’s inimitable and dominate vocals, together with heavy powerful drumming by Appice and the formidable strings team Davis and Bone. "Our Only Master” is a real rocker that could be on any NWOBHM album, heavy riffing, catchy melody and furious drumming. The punchy "The Bats (Are Hungry Tonight)” is a real killer, it will hit you in the head with a sable tooth. "What Manner of Bliss?” is half pace sludgy piece, heavy SABBATH riffing, hard snare drumming. ”Deceiver” is a catchy uptempo tune and so is "…And Madness”. "Orb Of Empire” have a pretty cool chorus and monotone heavy riffing. "Church Of The Tooth” is a slow and sludgy, a more clearer bass here then it would been a real killer, it's still good. "The Gate” is a solid rocker and the album ends with the top notch tune "Crawling Chaos”, sneaky and heavy and just brutally fantastic!
Sum: ”Dunsmuir” rocks, simple as that!
Today’s tune "Crawling Chaos!” is taken from the self titled album with DUNSMUIR, Enjoy!
Monday, New Week, it's time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
"Mapping The Inner Void" is the latest release by the Swedish quartet KINGNOMAD.
Initially formed in 2014 by best friends Jay and Marcus while hanging out in Jay's studio basement jamming on BLACK SABBATH grooves and downing bottomless beers, the pair soon stumbled onto a riff of their own making. Over the space of one evening evolved the song "Lucifer Is Dead" and with that one track followed a newfound purpose. Setting off on a quest to forge music from the influence of hard and heavy 70s rock, psychedelic flights of fancy and the hauntingly ethereal worlds of H.P. Lovecraft, the main driving force behind KINGNOMAD was to have as much fun as possible.
Recruiting the only two people that they knew were qualified enough to orchestrate a killer rhythm section, into the fold came Andreas on drums and Maximilian on bass. With the quartet retreating back to Jay's basement - newly christened the "The Room of Doom" - material flowed like a never-ending stream of occult energy. Songs were written, parts recorded and almost as if by magic they found themselves propelled forward in time, primed and ready to release what they had created.
Closely courted by Ripple Music they were asked last year to contribute to Chapter III in the labels ongoing underground series The Second Coming of Heavy, with Michigan rockers BONEHAWK. And with the alchemy of creativity burning fervently in their minds, a new batch of original songs were recorded for their debut album shortly afterward.

"Mapping The Inner Void" is an interesting journey in the land off dusky doom rock. A draw of the occult colours music, clean vocals with a poppish attitude make you refer to their fellow countrymen in GHOST, but the main inspiration must be BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, where the psychedelic and clear bluesy melody are mixed between heavy SABBATH riffs.
KINGNOMAD have made a very solid record that have been on repeat for sometime now. The Vinyl is on the way and should land soon, I hope. Was going to wait with the review until the Vinyl had a chance to spin for a few lapse, but I can't wait, eager that I am.
The album starts with the amazing "Lucifer’s Dream", baffled jazzy intro before the guitars jump in and the tune kicks off, slow and trailing melody with a melodic beautiful singing high up on a pedestal, great track to another amazing tune, "Nameless Cult" where the tempo turns up slightly, heavy riffages and vocals that makes you lose your composure, a very melodic piece. "Whispers From R’lyeh" is a beautiful trippy tune, clear bass line, loose guitar in a desert way. "The Witches Garden" is a bluesy rocker, the vocals are pretty trippy and far-out, but very well mixed. The Cow bells calls in "The Green Meadow Part 1 & 2", a cloudy tune with doomy roots, distorted fuzzy guitars flows like steam wind on the sunburnt desert. "She Wizard" straight forward SABBATH riffage with a popish chorus and heavy organs. The album ends with the melodic life drainer tune "The Waiting Game".
"Mapping The Inner Void" was released on 24 February 2017.
Sum: "Mapping the Internal Void" gives you a record to remember, a dusky doom rock with qualitative retro flirts, should not be missed.
Today's tune "Nameless Cult", taken from "Mapping the Internal Void", enjoy!
