Sunday and it's the Mothers day.

A day that we all take care of our mothers all around the globe. My mother is not alive, but I have make sure that my kids have taken care of their mother and my wife. As we always do, we dedicate this day to all mothers and we play a classic tune in her favor. My kid's mother loves METALLICA, so let's pick a tune from them.

"Mama Said" is a country-rock ballad by American heavy metal band METALLICA from their sixth album "Load", with music and lyrics by James Hetfield (music credited to Hetfield/Ulrich). The lyrics represent a man or boy who is learning to find his own way in life away from his mother. The song is directly written about Hetfield's difficult relationship with his mother, who died of cancer when he was 16 years old.

The song is a departure from METALLICAs usual heavy metal sound; its genre-blending style incorporates country, blues, and hard rock. "Mama Said" begins with acoustic guitar and, during the chorus, becomes flush with a country-flavored vocal harmony and steel guitar. Toward the end, the song features power chords on electric guitar.

This is a song for James Hetfield's mother, who died of cancer when he was young. The song talks about his regrets of not being able to spend more time with her and how he hopes that she will still love him when he sees her again ("Mama now I'm coming home. I'm not all you wished of me. A mother's love for her son unspoken, help me be. Yeah I took your love for granted and all the things you said to me. I need your arms to welcome me. But a cold stone is all I see."), sad story but hey, he misses his mother and so do I.

"Mama Said" has never been featured as a part of METALLICAs live setlist. Hetfield has performed this song live, however, using a single steel-stringed acoustic guitar with no drum or bass accompaniment. He also performed it along with country singer Jessi Colter on CMT's Outlaw Concert, along with Hetfield's cover of Waylon Jennings's "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand."

Paul Simon - Mother and Child Reunion

Sunday, Mothers day, time for a classic.

"Mother and Child Reunion" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. It was the lead single from his second self-titled studio album (1972), released on Columbia Records. It was released as a single on February 5, 1972. It was one of the earliest songs by a white musician to feature prominent elements of reggae.

The song was recorded at Dynamic Sounds Studios at Torrington Bridge in Kingston, Jamaica, with Jimmy Cliff's backing group. Guitarist Huks ("Hux") Brown and bass guitarist Jackie Jackson were also long-time members of TOOTS & THE MAYTALS. Cissy Houston sang background vocals on the recording. The song was recorded before writing lyrics, which was unusual for Simon. He had previously hoped to make "Why Don't You Write Me"— a song recorded with Art Garfunkel on Bridge over Troubled Water—to sound like a Jamaican song, but felt it ended up sounding like a "bad imitation." Simon was instructed by the musicians on the differences among reggae, ska, and bluebeat. He felt awkward at first because he was "the only white guy there and I was American." Simon later overdubbed piano and vocals to the track back in New York.

The title has its origin in a chicken-and-egg dish called "Mother and Child Reunion" that Simon saw on a Chinese restaurant's menu. The song's lyrics were inspired by a pet dog that was run over and killed. It was the first death Simon personally experienced, and he began to wonder how he would react if the same happened to his wife at the time, Peggy Harper. "Somehow there was a connection between this death and Peggy and it was like Heaven, I don't know what the connection was," Simon told Rolling Stone in 1972.

James Benninghof wrote that Simon predicted the title event, the "mother and child reunion," while the second verse describes the effect of what happened on "the strange and mournful day," but without making clear what it was.

Guns N' Roses - Estranged

Sunday and Mothers day! Today it's time for a classic for all Mothers around this globe.

So lets "kill two birds with one stone" and play a classic from GUNS N' ROSES as SLASH is in town, he will play at the amusement park Gröna Lund this evening, yes the plan is that I will go there.

Todays tune "Estranged" is a power ballad and music video by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses. It is from the second part of their two-part Use Your Illusion album, Use Your Illusion II.

At over nine minutes long, "Estranged", also known for its music video, is the longest song on Use Your Illusion II and GUNS N' ROSES second longest song overall (after "Coma" from Use Your Illusion I). It has many verses, no set chorus, and several distinguished guitar and piano solos. Use Your Illusion II's liner notes thank lead guitarist SLASH for "the killer guitar melodies", which captured Axl Rose's vision. SLASH has specifically stated that recording the guitar parts for this song was very intensive for him; he recorded it using a Les Paul Gold Top, using the rhythm pickup with the tone turned all the way down.

According to SLASH, the song was written while the band was rehearsing for an extended period of time in Chicago. Axl revealed that he wrote the song during a more "bummed out" time in his life when his marriage with Erin Everly was annulled.

The tune was released in December 1993, the music video is the third part of an unofficial Del James series of videos (preceded by "Don't Cry" and "November Rain") from the Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II albums. The estimated budget was US$4 million. In a 2008 interview, singer Axl Rose stated that there is a fourth video in the series for the unreleased song "The General," recorded during the Chinese Democracy sessions.

The almost ten-minute-long video for "Estranged" is similar in style to the previous two in the trilogy; however, it appears only loosely to pick up the theme. This is mainly because Axl Rose and then-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour (who played Axl's love interest in "Don't Cry" and "November Rain") had broken up prior to filming, making the theme of separation/divorce highly relevant.

The video begins by showing Axl where been a manhunt by a group of SWAT team while hidden lying on atop of cabinet with his melancholic mood in what appeared to be an abandoned mansion (his actual house).

Later, in a flashback, Axl is shown being escorted off that same (presumably marital) property. During this sequence, dictionary definitions for "Estranged" are flashed across the screen suggesting that Axl is going through a separation.

The next segment features the entire band boarding an Antonov An-124 transport aircraft with their equipment.

The video contains multiple shots of the Rainbow Bar, which is also featured in the "November Rain" video.

In a catastrophic sequence, Axl is seen walking on the deck of the Judith Prosperity, an oil tanker. In the video's climax, Axl leaps into the water in an apparent suicide attempt, but ends up being rescued by a group of bottlenose dolphins. At the height of the climax, Slash, raising from the bottom of seafloor while standing upright, plays a guitar solo on his Les Paul Guitar.

Parts of this video were filmed during a concert at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany, and show stage shots as well as views of the Olympic Park where the Summer Games of 1972 took place.

In the final scene, a rescue squad (courtesy of U.S. Coast Guard chopper and crew) arrives to rescue Axl from drowning in the sea. The video concludes with a shot of Axl's limited edition Converse sneakers sinking towards the seabed, with on-screen definitions of illusion and disillusion appearing. Afterwards, the video ends with a shot of Axl and a dolphin sitting together, with a note from Axl which says, "Lose your Illusions, Love Axl GNR '93"

"Estranged" was played live very frequently during the Use Your Illusion Tour from 1991 to 1993. During performances of this song, Dizzy Reed would play piano instead of Axl Rose. A live version of this song can be heard on Live Era: '87-'93. During the Chinese Democracy Tour, a riff from the song was sometimes included in Ron Thal's solo interpretation of the Pink Panther Theme. In December 2008, Axl spoke of his desire to bring Estranged back into the live set. The song appeared in GUNS N' ROSES live set list at Rock In Rio on October 3rd, 2011, with Axl Rose stating after playing the song, "I don't think I've sung that song in 18 years".

Lita Ford - Mother

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May. It complements Father's Day, a similar celebration honoring fathers.

The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

As the American holiday was adopted by other countries and cultures, the date was changed to fit already existing celebrations honoring motherhood, such as Mothering Sunday in the United Kingdom or, in Greece, the Orthodox celebration of the presentation of Jesus Christ to the temple (2 February). In Sweden the celebration occurs on the last Sunday in May.

Todays tune "Mother" to celebrate my wife and mother to my children. This one is for you baby! Love you! The tune is taken from the eighth studio album "Living Like a Runaway" from American rock-musician Lita Ford, released in June 2012.



Lita Rossana Ford (born 19 September 1958) is an American rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who was the lead guitarist for The Runaways in the late 1970s before embarking on a solo career in the 1980s.

Tesla - I Love You

Tesla is an American hard rock band, formed in Sacramento, California as City Kidd, and was renamed Tesla during the recording of their first album, 1986's Mechanical Resonance, on the advice of their manager that City Kidd was not a great name (in addition, there was already another band going by that name). The band derived their name, certain album and song titles, and some song content from events relating to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla.

The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarists Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch, bassist Brian Wheat, and drummer Troy Luccketta.

Tesla's music is often referred to as hard rock. The band's lyrics also strayed from the themes popular in hard rock, particularly in the 1980s at the beginning of their career. A further distinction from their contemporaries was their T-shirt-and-jeans image which was in strong contrast to glam metal bands of the time, which were characterized by big hair, leather pants, and flashy makeup. Also in the early days of their career, Tesla toured with David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, and Poison which incorrectly resulted in the band being categorized as a Glam metal band. The band's members resented this labelling.

Tesla did a reunion in 2000 after a 6-year break, the band has released records and toured periodically and in 2011, they released an acoustic album Twisted Wires And The Acoustic Sessions where we find today's tune "I Love You" a song that is perfect on a day like this :) Specially to my wife, this one is for you.

Genesis - Mama

You will not forget it's Mother's Day today?, especially if you live in Sweden.

Important to remember! We do not forget it anyway, a tune for Mama on the Tune Of The Day is today's choice.

A band that we know most mothers love and a song we think works well for this day.

Genesis are an English rock band that formed in 1967. The band currently comprises the longest-tenured members Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks. Past members Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett also played major roles in the band in its early years. Genesis are among the top 30 highest-selling recording artists of all time with approximately 150 million albums sold worldwide.

Todays tune "Mama" was the first single from Genesis' 1983 self-titled album (often referred to as the "shapes album" or simply The Mama Album, after the first track). Instantly recognizable from its harsh drum machine introduction composed by Mike Rutherford, which leads into minimalist synthesizer lines in minor keys and finally Phil Collins' reverb-laden voice, "Mama" serves notice that the album which follows will be considerably darker than previous efforts.

The track also has a powerful final verse punctuated with a live drum kit (modified with the trademark "gated reverb" effect), comparable to Collins' earlier solo recording "In the Air Tonight”. The song has resurfaced in 2007 as part of the Turn It On Again tour, albeit transposed down a tone to account for the deepening of Phil Collins' voice as he grew older.

Boyz II Men - A Song For Mama

Yesterday it was Mothers Day in the country my oldest daughter live in.
So I got phone calls and a video from her via Facebook....



This song is not my normal tune that I listen to, but its fantastic and
Gosh It just freaked me out in a good way..
Sitting there tears rolling down, and Wow what can I say.
My doughter or let me refrase it, my Children are the most fantastic kids in the world!

So today I want to give this to every Mama on our planet to tell you what a
important and lovely task you have gotten through giving birth to a child.

Love it, show them right from wrong, be their friend, their guidance in a trouble world.
Youre the most important woman among your kids, you know.



This is preformed by a group I heard in the 90´s Boyz II Men.
The group, known originally as Unique Attraction, was founded during 1988 at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, friends Nathan Morris and Marc Nelson organized several R&B singing groups, most of which ended quickly. Eventually, they found a winning formula by recruiting tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman and bass Michael McCary.
The group would rehearse in the high school's bathrooms, due to the excellent acoustics. They found inspiration in New Edition's harmonies and routines, and eventually renamed the group "Boyz II Men", after one of New Edition's songs.

They done 9 studio albums and a bunch of compilations and 3 dvd´s.
They are definitely the best group in emotional songs...
