Myrath - Born To Survive

The blazing desert metal pioneers MYRATH at their absolute best suit a birthday child better than ever. Thetania is turning one year older today and a tune from one of her favorite is selected as today's tune.

This Tunisian metal band was formed in 2001 and has been Thetania's favorite since the first album.

During Sweden Rock Festival 2019, MYRATH was asked to perform a second time to replace the band BEHEMOTH on the main stage. According to the band's Instagram account, many festivals wrote to the band after the performances at Sweden Rock to book MYRATH for festivals in 2020 and 2021, including Wacken Open Air 2019, which is widely considered the largest heavy-metal festival the world.

Today's tune "Born To Survive", is taken from the 2019 album "Shehili". This tune is for you my love, happy birthday! Here is a Live clip including the intro "Asl", filmed live @Bucharest 28 feb 2020.

Black Sabbath - N.I.B.

Sunday, time for a classic and some cake, it's Thetanias birthday.

So for her, we play a tune with one of her absolutely favorite band BLACK SABBATH.

"N.I.B." is a song released by British rock band BLACK SABBATH. It first appeared as the fourth track on the band's 1970 debut album, "Black Sabbath". The lyrics are in the first person from the point of view of Lucifer. Lyricist Geezer Butler has said that "the song was about the devil falling in love and totally changing, becoming a good person."

"N.I.B." begins with a bass solo by Geezer Butler, titled "Bassically" on some US releases. It includes heavy use of a wah-wah pedal. The song's main riff (as well as Osbourne's vocal delivery) have been noted for their CREAM-influenced sound — the song has even been referred to as "the raucous defiling of CREAM".

When the song was first released, its title was widely rumored to have stood for "Nativity in Black", or to a lesser extent "Name In Blood". In a 1992 interview, Geezer Butler states that the title simply refers to Bill Ward's goatee at the time, which the rest of the band thought was shaped like a pen nib; also referred to as nibby. Apparently, Geezer Butler said: "Originally it was Nib, which was Bill's beard. When I wrote N.I.B., I couldn't think of a title for the song, so I just called it Nib, after Bill's beard. To make it more intriguing I put punctuation marks in there to make it N.I.B. By the time it got to America, they translated it to Nativity In Black." Ronnie James Dio can be heard mentioning (but not confirming) this assumption on several live bootleg recordings with the band from the early 1980s and on the 2007 released Live-CD Live at Hammersmith Odeon, recorded in 1982.

Angélique Kidjo - Summertime

The Swedish Midsummer is here and Thetania is one year older, two big celebration on one day, herring and a cake :) We at Tune of the Day wish you all a happy Midsummer, take it cool and give alot of love. Sixx:A.M. - Rise

Today it's Thetania's birthday, so we sing loud, high and clap our hands and celebrate her with a tune that I know she like. Yesterday did one of hers favorite rock acts SIXX:A.M. play here in Stockholm at Gröna Lund, yes she was there and she was happy about it, the smile was so big when she returned home, I guess that is a great review of the evening. I had the chance to see part of their show during the weekend, where David Draiman (DISTURBED) joined SIXX:A.M. for a MÖTLEY CRUE cover, they played "Shout At The Devil", kinda cool and very good version. Anyway...

SIXX:A.M. is a hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba, and James Michael, and is the side project of Sixx, who was also the bass guitarist for MÖTLEY CRUE. The group is best known for their songs "Life Is Beautiful" and "Lies of the Beautiful People". The name SIXX:A.M. is a combination of all of the member's last names (Sixx, Ashba, Michael). 

To date, SIXX:A.M. have released four studio albums; The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007), This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), Modern Vintage (2014) and Prayers for the Damned Vol. 1 (2016), and three EPs; X-Mas In Hell (2008); Live Is Beautiful (2008) and 7 (2011).

Pagan's Mind - Hallo Spaceboy

Today is Thetania birthday and of course we celebrate that with a tune of a band she loves, hurrah hurrah.

From Skien, Norway we find one of Thetanias favourite progressive metal heads PAGANS MIND. A band that have released five studio albums, and the current line-up is composed of founding members only, kinda impressive I must say.

So today's tune is all for you Thetania, Happy Birthday Love, enjoy your day!

Todays tune "Hallo Spaceboy" is taken from the fourth album "God's Equation", released on November 9, 2007. The tune was co-written by David Bowie and Brian Eno. Bowie wrote the song in mostly-improvised sessions with his band in 1995, and intentionally wrote it with a NINE INCH NAILS-like vibe. Of the track, Bowie said "I adore that track. In my mind, it was like Jim Morrison meets industrial. When I heard it back, I thought, 'Fuck me. It's like metal DOORS.' It's an extraordinary sound."

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Can't Hold Us Feat. Ray Dalton

Hey All, Just weaken up from another festival in Sweden, Bråvalla!
A great Festival, with many good bands... I have to say i didnt see much.
My favvo band In Flames i saw mayby...1 tune from...sooobs.

This guy I had to see the whole concert as I was Spotlight operator.  The request for a spot op came to late and I didnt have anyone more then me..

Me and David Wictor did the show and we did great, although it was his 4th time he did a hell of a job, their light tec. was satisfied!
This artist is a rap guy with a good portion of humor and a great view of life with no drugs or alcohol.
I love that message!

He began independently releasing music in 2000 and now collaborates with producer Ryan Lewis, violinist Andrew Joslyn, and trumpeter Owuor Arunga. He has gained a significant online fanbase. He has released one mixtape, three EPs and two albums, although none on a major record label. His single "Thrift Shop" has been viewed on YouTube over 350 million times, and reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2013, selling more than 2.2 million copies. It was the first time since 1994 that a song reached number 1 on the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label. His second single, "Can't Hold Us" also todays tune, peaked at #1 of the Hot 100 Chart, making Macklemore & Ryan Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both become a #1 single.

Pugh Rogefeldt - Små Lätta Moln

Sunday, a rather special day today, for it is Thetania's birthday. So we are celebrating her with a "Hooray Hooray" and dedicate today's song to her. It was much like "Little Light Clouds" that I was feeling the first time I met her. Happy Birthday Thetania, Love you girl!

Today's tune "Små Lätta Moln" (Little light cloud) is a song from 1969, written by Pugh Rogefeldt. It is on his debut album "Ja, dä ä dä"(1969), but also on the live album "Ett steg till"(1975).

The song was recorded at Metronome Studios in June 1969 with Anders Burman as a producer. Participants were Rogefeldt on guitar and vocals, George Wadenius on guitar and bass, Janne "Loffe" Carlsson on drums. Techniques for recording was Michael B. Tretow. Todays video is a live recording from Umeå at Scharinska villan 2008, enjoy!

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May. It complements Father's Day, a similar celebration honoring fathers.

Lita Rossana Ford (born 19 September 1958) is an American rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who was the lead guitarist for The Runaways in the late 1970s before embarking on a solo career in the 1980s.

Sarah Dawn Finer - Kärleksvisan

A few days ago it was time for a new gig, this time it was Swedish Sarah Dawn Finer who would perform at the Circus here in the Stockholm. An artist that I think I run into quite often in different contexts, an artist that I personally probably never listen to or would ever think to do that. Not that I dislike what she does or stands for, it's just not my thing, but must admit that she sings incredibly beautiful. The show at Circus was something completely different than what I'm used to. This time it was "Sarah" who stood in the center, it was "Sarah" who was the star.  Her performance was excellent, almost as if I got goose bumps.

Sarah Dawn Finer, born 14 September 1981 in Stockholm, Sweden, is a singer, songwriter and actress. Her father is from the United Kingdom (London), and her mother from USA (New York), but she is born and raised in Sweden. Dawn is her middle name, and Finer her surname.

Anyway, this lady has made a song called "Kärleksvisan", I want to dedicate this to my wife "Thetania" who wears her hair off on Eurovision down in Malmö.

Band of Horses - Knock Knock

Today Band Of Horses play in Stockholm.
Me and Stones arent there, cos Stones is out on a tour and I have 2 other gigs to take care of.

Band Of Horses released 4 albums and the latest came this year, called "Mirage Rock"

Im gonna play the first single from it.
Directed by Jared Eberhardt, the video simulates nature documentaries from a bygone era. Bridwell revealed that the footage was taken in the Salt Lake City area, "It seems fitting that we'd finally get to shoot a video around Salt Lake City, as we've got a song that pays tribute to the area called 'The Great Salt Lake' from our first album. Better late than never."

If you dont know who they are they are a Indie Rock band from Seattle, US, started up in 2004.

Eva Dahlgren - Jag är gud

Had a bizzy weekend, went down to Gothenburg and prepared a gig two days ago and then yesterday i helped to arranged and took care of the stagehands on it. It was a nice bunch of Stagehand, handpicked by me. Love to work woth competent people.

Then directly when I came home I eate and runned to my childrens Halloween party Pweeew :D

This artist is from Stockholm. Eva Dahlgren came down to Gothenburg and did a great gig.
She is quite a big star here in Sweden, doing slow or tunes with much energy and emotions in.
She sings in Swedish and the lyrics are very deep and thoughtable. I find that very attracting!

She is damn tall, taller than me and im frecking tall 1,82 cm(Im 5.9) Eva is 2,03 cm, ( 6.6 ) haha cool huh :D She was born 1960 in North of Sweden, but was bought up in Lund then Vendelsö then Nynäshamn, which is near to Stockholm. She have done 17 albums.

She is married to a another woman/artist called Efva Attling.
