BEAST IN BLACK, the Helsinki, Finland-based metal group led by former BATTLE BEAST guitarist Anton Kabanen, released its third album, "Dark Connection", last Friday (October 29). The official music video for the LP's third single, "Hardcore", can be seen below.
"Enter cyberpunk. Flying cars, sprawling metropolis, valleys of neon lights, emotionless killers, gynoids, femmes fatales, shadowy characters, lethal lust, forbidden passion, love larger than life, space travel, melodic and atmospheric heavy metal with an insanely catchy twist... All this and much more is what "Dark Connection" holds within.
The captivating album artwork was once again done by Roman Ismailov.
Line-up:
Yannis Papadopoulos | vocals
Anton Kabanen | guitars
Kasperi Heikkinen | guitars
Mate Molnar | bass
Atte Palokangas | drums
Today's tune "Hardcore" is taken from the new album "Dark Connection", enjoy!
The Detroit collective THE ARMED returned on April 16, 2021 with their first new album in over three years and Sargent House debut, "Ultrapop". The album reaches the same extremities of sonic expression as the furthest depths of metal, noise, and otherwise "heavy" counterculture music subgenres but finds its foundation firmly in pop music and pop culture.
As is always THE ARMEDs mission, it seeks only to create the most intense experience possible, a magnification of all culture, beauty, and things. The band goes on to explain, "crafting vital art means presenting the audience with new and intriguing tensions—sonically, visually, conceptually. Over time and through use, those tensions become less novel and effective—and they become expectations. The concept of "subgenre" becomes almost the antithesis of vitality in art—itself a fetishization of expectation. "Ultrapop" seeks, in earnest, to create a truly new listener experience. It is an open rebellion against the culture of expectation in "heavy" music. It is a joyous, genderless, post-nihilist, anti-punk, razor-focused take on creating the most intense listener experience possible. It's the harshest, most beautiful, most hideous thing we could make."
Today's tune "All Futures", that was the first single from the band’s third album "Ultrapop". The tune is melodic, technical, squelchy—it features Troy Van Leeuwen from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The video clip comes with a live performance that sounds basically the exact same as the studio version and gives you a hint of how talent they are. "Ultrapop" was released April 16, 2021 on Sargent House. Recorded by Chris Koltay, Drum Engineering by Urian Hackney, Mixed by Kurt Ballou and Mastered by Zach Weeks. Enjoy!
It's Friday and it's time to shake loose a bit, especially if you are in the quarantine mode as most peoples are these days.
Stockholm’s hardcore crust-punk veterans VICTIMS made their Relapse Records debut with their highly anticipated new album, "The Horse And Sparrow Theory".
Recorded by producer Karl Daniel Lidén (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, CRAFT and more), "The Horse And Sparrow Theory" clocks in at 28 minutes of relentless insurrection.
VICTIMS' uncompromising take on d-beat and hardcore is a definitive statement of intent, as the band is set to deconstruct the current socio-political climate, bleak outlook of mass class division, industrialization, and the self-absorbed pursuit of greed and corruption.
VICTIMS formed back in 1997, in their home town of Nyköping, Sweden. The band's aim was simple... to play hardcore punk rock, straight up and right to the point, with particular influences being Swedish Discharge-style and 80's American hardcore.
VICTIMS are:
Andy Henriksson - Drums
Jon Lindqvist - Guitar & Backing Vocals
Gareth Smith - Guitar
Johan Eriksson - Bass & Lead Vocals
Today's tune "The Horse And Sparrow Theory" is the title track of the latest album. The video is made by Frank Huang (Max Volume Silence) and live video by Jimmy Johansson/Super Lino Puro, enjoy!
An empathic knockout! With their melodic yet raw punk approach ETT DÖDENS MASKINERI unmasks the disowned and twisted social climate we live under today. Humans and their value being sacrificed for constant and relentless economic growth. Right-wing rhetoric getting traction in our everyday life. The dismantling of the welfare system and the pillars of our society. The idealization of individual and personal success at the expense of the collective and fair distribution of wealth.
Demagogues that incite and taunts, authoritarian men that take the place as the new alpha leaders of humanity. Religious fanaticism, anti-feminism and the war against women and the LGBT community. Nationalism, populism and the love for walls and fences meant to hindre people who are fleeing for their lives. The constantly present everyday-racism brewing under the surface. Simplified and stupified
– Orwellian Newspeak and Doublethink.
The EP "Sveriges Humanitära Ruiner" was born out of a sense of loss and an underlying frustration. It’s a wish to tear down, re-build and create a more humane, equal and inclusive society. The lyricism will not hand you a sugar-coated and cozy consensus but rather knuckled fists, bruises and a huge dose of the resentment we feel against the society of today.
In the music, you can clearly hear inspiration from classic Swedish crust-punk bands such as SKITSYSTEM, DISFEAR, ANTI-CIMEX mixed together with tones of more melodic punk such as ASTA KASK and STREBERS.
Sorrow and despair, all in a brutal and filthy 5 track dystopian package in a minor key. Recorded at Gamla Elverket, Falun, in August 2019 by Erik Berglund.
ETT DÖDENS MASKINERI consists of:
Daniel Garpebring – Guitars and vocals
Aidin Razavi – Guitars
Erik Öyen – Bass
Andreas Thunmarker – Drums
Today's tune "Dödens Maskineri" is taken from the EP "Sveriges Humanitära Ruiner", Guest screams by Emilia Henriksson/RADIUM GRRRLS, enjoy!
The sludgy hardcore/metal Swedish band HORNDAL finds it's way to tune of the day. The band has their roots in a small industrial town in the Swedish woods with the same name is the band – Horndal. A place with a gruesome story to tell.
In the late seventies, the steel mill that employed almost the whole population was threatened with termination. To protest against this a theatre group, including the parents of the band’s singer and drummer, wrote and set up a play about this disastrous event.
The plot depicts the devil (played by their father) coming to the town to shut down the steel mill, leave the exploited workers to their fate and send the whole community to an early grave. Sadly the story came true. The factory was closed and the town was left for dead. The band translated the play and made into their lyrics.
The story is told on the band's debut album "Remains" where we find today's tune "Häng Honom" (Hang Him). The album was released February 22, 2019. Mixed and Mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén
Artwork by King Raya.
HORNDAL is:
Henrik – Vocals, guitars
Pontus - Drums
Fredrik - Guitars
Erik - Bass
Driving rhythms in an excellent forward-thinking way, enjoy!

Saturday, time for a dance, a real dance with the Norweigan LÜT.
In just a short amount of time LÜT has established themselves as one of Scandinavia's most exciting new rock bands. They have developed a unique, tight and energetic live show based on riveting melodies and massive guitar riffs. They are following the same footprints as TURBONEGRO and KVELERTAK, melodic and heavy at the same time.
Despite that they are at the very beginning of their career, LÜT has already checked off some major merits on their bucket list. One of the largest Norwegian radio stations NRK P3 played both “Du Vet Ingenting” and “Boytoy” on heavy rotation. In 2017 they were nominated for the Norwegian Grammys “Spellemannprisen” in the category “Best new act”, they were also nominated for “Best live act” at P3 Gull the same year. The jury described why one should go see LÜT live when they arrive in your hometown.
Well, I will do if they get around here someday.
LÜT are:
Marius James Platt (Bass)
Ørjan Nyborg Myrland (Guitar)
Markus Danielsen Danjord (Lead Vocals)
Sveinung Engvik (Drums)
Mads Erlend Ystmark (Guitar)
Today's tune "Prisen" is taken from the band's debut album "Pandion", the clip is filmed live @ Mackhallen 2017.
"Garden Of Dismalism" is a brand new single/video by the Windsor, Ontario and the Hardcore/Noise Metal band MINORS taken from their latest album "Abject Bodies", released 22nd February 2019.
A question is raised about the music. Is this Metal? Punk? Hardcore? Sludge? Experimental Noise? well is a juggernaut of vitriol and rage, noisy punky metalcore with an uncompromising and hypnotic bend of sludge and hardcore or as they call their music, "Deaf Rock". With a foot in each of the aforementioned styles, Canada's finest tap into a misanthropic unparalleled rage on "Atrophy" that few bands can even hope to achieve. Whilst their output prides itself on its negativity, with a chilling snarl, the future is bright for MINORS and wherever they choose to go from here.
"The lyrics for "Garden Of Dismalism" are pretty personal. So when we decided to create a video for the song, we wanted it to cover a separate concept entirely. We came up with an idea of two friends having a conversation about their fears, but instead of it helping to clear their minds, the conversation spirals into something else altogether. The rest of it, we will leave for the viewer to interpret for themselves."
The Vinyl is released on
Enjoy today's tune. The Video is Directed by Rob Maslanka.
Windsor's PSYCHIC VOID did released thier full length titled "Terminal Vacation" on January 28, 2018.
BLACK FLAG ozes thru the vains of the guys in PSYCHIC VOID, their music is something like psyche-rock, spacey punk and early hardcore and sounds pretty compelling, check out the tune below.
The four-piece band consists of vocalist Jesse Knight, guitarist Josh Kaiser, bassist Matty Menard, and drummer Pete Garant.
PSYCHIC VOID are material boys living in a material world.
Today's tune is the title tune from the album "Terminal Vacation", the clip is filmed live at The Windsor Beer Exchange. (Windsor, ON) 12-22-17, enjoy!
The Tampa rockers UNDERØATH are back with a their eighth album "Erase Me", released via via Fearless Records on April 6, 2018.
It is their first album in eight years following "Ø (Disambiguation)" (2010), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in the band's career, and their first one with founding drummer and clean vocalist Aaron Gillespie since Lost in the Sound of Separation (2008). It was recorded in mid-2017 with Matt Squire and mixed by Ken Andrews.
Upon announcing the album, the band updated their Spotify biography to read: "The band who once openly—and without apology—professed their faith-based worldview onstage nightly, have since moved beyond the realm of seemingly impenetrable polemics. At various junctures, "Erase Me" illustrates those moments of sanctuary, anxiety, betrayal and conflict that inevitably arise when humanity grapples with belief systems."
Drummer Gillespie said of the album, "We've had success and we've come through a lot of waters. There's been 11,000 things we've been through so you would think, almost rhetorically, 'What do you need now?' All of us are finally in that place in our lives where the only thing we care about is inclusion for everybody—for the world. For me, exclusion is the scariest thing in the world. And I think Underoath coming back now with a new record—which none of us thought was possible—we want people to know that this is your music and you can feel however the fuck you want about it. I just want to prove that we are doing everything in the most honest way we ever have. This is the healthiest we've ever been as a group of people, as musicians, and in our worldview."
UNDERØATH are:
Timothy McTague – lead guitar, backing vocals, bass
Christopher Dudley – keyboard, synthesizer
Aaron Gillespie – drums, clean vocals, piano
Spencer Chamberlain – lead vocals, additional guitars
Grant Brandell – bass
James Smith – rhythm guitar

”Forever" is the third studio album by American metalcore band CODE ORANGE. It is the band's major label debut on Roadrunner Records following a stint on the indie label Deathwish Inc. and was released on January 13, 2017.
”Forever” is a metallic industrial hardcore album, where it features influences from various different styles in metal and hardcore, including industrial metal and nu metal. The album also employs "pitch-shifted vocal samples, glitched-out effects and dissonant layers of screeching noise”.
Regarding influences, that is something that's going to fill up my head and soul tonight. The Annual "Hårdrocks" (Hardrocks) evening is today :) Rock on.
Eric Balderose – vocals, guitars, synthesizer,
Reba Meyers – vocals, guitars,
Joe Goldman – bass,
Jami Morgan – drums, vocals
The title track and today’s tune is causing mass destruction to anything nearby, so beware before you hit play, you have been warned.
"Savage Sinusoid" is the newest addition to Igorrr’s musical madness, released on Metal Blade Records. Completely sample-free, the album features vocalists Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec, along with drummer Sylvain Bouvier, and showcases more musicians than any of Igorrr previous releases – one of those guests being CATTLE DECAPITATIONs Travis Ryan, who lends his vocals on “Cheval”, “Apopathodiaphulatophobie” and “Robert”, while we can see also Teloch, from Mayhem, performing the guitars and the bass on the track “Viande”.
While "Savage Sinusoid" draws from a plethora of genres, Serre has no intention of baffling or alienating potential listeners. As he explains:"I just want to make the music I love, without asking myself if it's gonna be too complex or too far from what people like. I want to make the music which has sense to me, with no restrictions, like a big party with metalheads, electronics nerds, classical and baroque-heads and gypsy violinists getting drunk and joining together to bring the best of every genre."
Initially influenced by the likes of MESSHUGGAH, CHOPON, CANNIBAL CORPSE, BACH, DOMENCIO SCARLATTI, TARAF DE HAIDOUKS and APHEX TWIN, traces of these artists can be found littered across Igorrr’s discography, but Serre has never been interested in remaining static or merely recycling ideas, and his work has dramatically evolved accordingly. It deeply explains how Igorrr’s music is such an explosion of creativity while keeping a cohesive universe records after records.
In recent years, Igorrr has also become a collective, rather than the work of one man alone, which has brought a new level of intensity into the group live representations.
Today's tune "ieuD" is taken from "Savage Sinusoid", enjoy this madness!

MÖNGÖL HÖRDE is an English hardcore punk band formed in 2012. The group features Frank Turner on vocals, Ben Dawson on drums and Matt Nasir on guitar. Turner and Dawson are both former members of hardcore punk outfit MILLION DEAD. Frank Turner is now best known for his solo folk-punk material, and Matt Nasir is part of his backing band, THE SLEEPING SOULS. Lyrically, MÖNGÖL HÖRDE is not as serious as Frank Turner's other projects, with Turner stating, "Lyrically it's very different from what I do now, it's kind of depraved. The first song we wrote is about Natalie Portman's tapeworm using her as a glove puppet to lead an uprising in Hollywood. We're writing a whole pile of new songs and we're going to do some live dates soon."
The band made their live débuts at free shows in London and Leeds in the two days before the band played on the Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival.
Today's tune "Make Way" is taken from their self-titled debut album was released on 26 May 2014.
WAR PIGS pray at the alters of THE STOOGES, BLACK SABBATH, CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, MC5, twisting impossibly heavy riffs around nihilistic vocals and a pounding wartime tribal death-beat. This complex rage is blasted through with the influence of traditional old-school hardcore, '70s proto-punk, and early stoner-metal. Hardcore breakdowns merge with Iommi-esqe downtempo guitar freakouts.
This is not your 15-year-old brother’s Straight Edge hardcore. This is not your father’s dark SABBATH metal. Its a chaos and precision that lies somewhere in between.
This is WAR PIGS from Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
Dig your claws into my organs. Stretch into my tendons.
Bury your anchors into my bones, for the power i am possessed.
Look above the gods and you will fall below the skeletons of the past.
Not to ask but give, not to want but just to send.
Today's tune "6th Chamber" taken from WAR PIGS "Degeneration" album, released January 1, 2009
"True Friends" is a song by British rock band BRING ME THE HORIZON. It was released as the third single from the band's fifth studio album "That's the Spirit". Musically a rock song, it has been more specifically described as post-hardcore and emo. It was released on 25 August 2015 on the bands official Vevo account.
"That's The Spirit" marks a surprising change in BRING ME THE HORIZON's sound and Oliver Sykes told The Pulse Of Radio how it came about. "Really, we were wrapping up 'Sempiternal', and we just felt like we'd progressed a lot just in that short space of time since releasing 'Sempiternal' and touring it, so, yeah, I guess when we finished the campaign, we just really felt like we had a big opportunity. Like, 'Sempiternal' really got us out to the public a lot more than the previous record and stuff, and it felt like people were waiting to see what we did next and people were really hungry for it, you know what I mean? So we just wanted to take the opportunity and really smash it out of the park, I guess."
"That's The Spirit" not only marks a change in the band's sound but also has a concept behind it.
Sykes explained recently: "It's a celebration of depression. A way of making light of it. That's the spirit — it's quite a depressing phrase when you think about it — the sort of thing you only ever use when you know there's no positive answer to the situation."
BRING ME THE HORIZON recently launched a North American headlining tour that stops in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday (October 20) and continues in Europe, see the dates below. On Saturday the 14th they will visit Arenan and Stockholm here in Sweden.
Today's tune "True Friends" is taken from That's The Spirit. The official music video, dubbed as a "short film", was uploaded to the band's Vevo on November 5, 2015. It was directed by Oliver Sykes and featured British actor Steve Oram ("Sightseers", "Bad Education", "The World's End"). The Music Video was produced by 12 Inch Media.

REFUSED are back again. Their latest album, The Shape of Punk to Come, released in 1998. After a reunion tour in 2012 saw it a long time as it once was over for the influential hardcore band.
Now REFUSED announce their first album in 17 years. Freedom released on June 30, was produced by Nick Launay (ARCADE FIRE, KATE BUSH, NICK CAVE), and two of the songs; Elektra and 366, was written together with the Swedish producer duo Shellback previously written hits for (uh ...) BRITNEY SPEARS and TAYLOR SWIFT.
"It's no longer a question about a reunion," says the band's lead singer Dennis Lyxzén. "This is perhaps the most radical we've ever done, both musically and lyrically."
REFUSED is a Swedish hardcore punk band originating from Umeå, formed in 1991. In total the band released five EPs and three full-length albums before originally splitting up in 1998. Refused is composed of vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandström and bassist Magnus Flagge. The Canadian hardcore punkers CANCER BATS have released their fifth studio album "Searching For Zero" a week ago (March 10th).
The band is composed of vocalist Liam Cormier, guitarist Scott Middleton, drummer Mike Peters and bassist Jaye R. Schwarzer. Cancer Bats take a wide variety of influences from heavy metal subgenres and fuse them into hardcore punk and punk rock and include elements of sludge metal and southern rock. Their sound has also been compared to metalcore bands such as CONVERGE and HATEBREED. The members of CANCER BATS have also toured and recorded as a BLACK SABBATH cover band under the name BAT SABBATH.
The album includes today's tune "True Zero", for which the Jim Agapito-directed video can be seen below, a tune that will shake any leg that are freezed to the chair.
The iTunes version of the album will include two exclusive tracks titled "Kill Me Please…" and "Rust and Bone".
Produced by Ross Robinson (AT THE DRIVE-IN, SLIPKNOT, THE CURE, SEPULTURA, GLASSJAW), "Searching For Zero" is simultaneously the most melodic, yet menacing CANCER BATS release. The record incorporates the crude hardcore punk of their 2006 debut, "Birthing The Giant", and more metal leanings of 2008's "Hail Destroyer", while pushing the heavy hybrid sounds of 2010's "Mayors Bears Scraps And Bones" and 2012's darker "Dead Set On Living" to a new plateau. The choruses are hookier, the screams more savage, the riffs more vicious, the songs more powerful.
That the album is inspired by their metal idols BLACK SABBATH can be heard in the melodic elements, both musically and vocally.
Current members:
Liam Cormier – lead vocals (2004–present)
Scott Middleton – lead guitar, backing vocals (2004–present)
Mike Peters – drums, percussion (2005–present)
Jaye R. Schwarzer – bass, backing vocals (2007–present)
Todays tune "True Zero" is taken from the latest release "Searching For Zero", enjoy!
