Ett Dödens Maskineri – Dödens Maskineri

An empathic knockout! With their melodic yet raw punk approach ETT DÖDENS MASKINERI unmasks the disowned and twisted social climate we live under today. Humans and their value being sacrificed for constant and relentless economic growth. Right-wing rhetoric getting traction in our everyday life. The dismantling of the welfare system and the pillars of our society. The idealization of individual and personal success at the expense of the collective and fair distribution of wealth. Demagogues that incite and taunts, authoritarian men that take the place as the new alpha leaders of humanity. Religious fanaticism, anti-feminism and the war against women and the LGBT community. Nationalism, populism and the love for walls and fences meant to hindre people who are fleeing for their lives. The constantly present everyday-racism brewing under the surface. Simplified and stupified
– Orwellian Newspeak and Doublethink.

The EP "Sveriges Humanitära Ruiner" was born out of a sense of loss and an underlying frustration. It’s a wish to tear down, re-build and create a more humane, equal and inclusive society. The lyricism will not hand you a sugar-coated and cozy consensus but rather knuckled fists, bruises and a huge dose of the resentment we feel against the society of today.

In the music, you can clearly hear inspiration from classic Swedish crust-punk bands such as SKITSYSTEM, DISFEAR, ANTI-CIMEX mixed together with tones of more melodic punk such as ASTA KASK and STREBERS.

Sorrow and despair, all in a brutal and filthy 5 track dystopian package in a minor key. Recorded at Gamla Elverket, Falun, in August 2019 by Erik Berglund.

ETT DÖDENS MASKINERI consists of:
Daniel Garpebring – Guitars and vocals
Aidin Razavi – Guitars
Erik Öyen – Bass
Andreas Thunmarker – Drums

Today's tune "Dödens Maskineri" is taken from the EP "Sveriges Humanitära Ruiner", Guest screams by Emilia Henriksson/RADIUM GRRRLS, enjoy!

Heads For The Dead - Serpents Curse

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".

In the midst river's of all album releases, that I already bathe in albums that are waiting for my attention. I pick up an album that has got plenty of spins that I need to recommend further to the masses. All started with a recommendation by a good friend "Chief Rebel Angel" at Heavymetale. He wrote a text that caught my attention and I gave it a chance... a few spins on the digital platform I got hooked and order the album online.

I'm talking about the Europeans in the Death Metal band HEADS FOR THE DEAD and their album "Serpents Curse".

From the fathomless dark realms of the occult comes HEADS FOR THE DEAD. The band was formed by Hauber (REVEL IN FLESH) and Pettersson (URSINNE, WOMBBATH, HENRY KANE) to deliver a deadly mixture of extreme dark Metal madness ranging from Death-, Doom- Crust and Black Metal, combined with an atmosphere of filth and horror.

"Serpents Curse" have some guest, members of SENTIENT HORROR (Matt Moliti) and WOMBBATH (Håkan Stuvemark) has helped to liven up the tunes with their guest solos on a few tracks, the session drummer of DOWN AMONG THE DEAD MEN (Erik Bevenrud) have smashed the leather on this album. The Artwork by Branca Studio (PARADISE LOST, BEASTMAKER) and the Logo by Mark Riddick (FETID ZOMBIE).

"Serpents Curse" opens up with the title tune, a horror full piece of doomish death "throw your head in the sidewalk metal" in the best manner, old school Swedish death metal is the main influences, well played with the little extra to keep me alive and kicking. The whole album keeps a very good class. Speeds vary from slow doomish, and occult like tunes "Deep Below" and "The Awakening" to high octane, ferocious tunes like "Post Mortem Suffering" and "Death Calls", both tune are just over a minute long. "Gate Creeper" and "Heads For The Dead" is pounding away triumphantly, great pieces of music and the horror heavy tune "Of Wrath And Vengeance" is a true killer. The album ends with a hair-raising cover of WOLFBRIGADES's "In Darkness You Feel No Regrets". An excellent album release that should not be passed.

Sum: Death and Horror ridden Metal of the highest quality, check it up!

Today's tune "Serpents Curse" is the title tune from HEADS FOR THE DEAD 2nd album, released on Transcending Obscurity Records, 24 September 2018, enjoy!

Mantar - The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze

Monday, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze" is the third studio album by the unrelenting, violent and primal rage from Germany's most ferocious duo MANTAR!

MANTAR is melting the most sinister elements of styles like Black Metal, Crust Doom and Sludge in their creations.

"The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze" is a heavy piece of music, their boldest and bombastic release so far, a perfect album for autumn times when the darkness comes closer and closer eash day. The album opens up with the long intro "The Knowing" before it burst out more brutality with strong black metal influence in "Age Of The Absurd", where extremely guitar licks, howling screams by Hanno Klänhardt, drum beat like a thunderclouds patterns on the skins of the drummer boy Erinç Sakarya opens up the gateway to hell. "Seek + Forget" and "Taurus" follows the same route as already laid out, but with more catchy angryness in the melody and rhythm that punches you in an epic fist fight. "Midgard Serpent (Seasons of Failure)" is a groovy piece with slower, grinding pace, great melody and that continues on aggressive "Dynasty of Nails" and the more faster piece "Eternal Return" to the haunted organs intro in "Obey the Obscene" before the angry bird lands on stage. "Anti Eternia" is a more straight forward sludge piece, melodic riffing and rocking vocals in their best way. "The Formation of the Night" is a doomish melodic rocker, catchy with great riffing that continues with the groovy "Teeth of the Sea" and the album ends with the filthy melodic piece "The Funeral". As a listener, I feel that this is a solid release, really fun to listen to and it's absolutely their best album yet.

Sum: "The Modern Art of Setting Ablaze" is a filthy and heavy piece of music that works like a charm!

Today's tune "Seek + Forget" taken from "The Modern Art of Setting Ablaze", enjoy!

Waft - Southern Sky

1:st of Januari 2016. Let's kick of this new year with some real heavy Southern Sludge.

From Greenville, South Carolina we find the psychedelic sludge metal band WAFT.

Founded November 2011 after a meeting at a Hank III show. Initial line-up was Zach Newton on vocals and drums, and Daniel Johnson on guitar. Out of those jams, a decision was made to continue under the name WAFT.

Beeg Newton (brother of Zach's) joined the band on vocals, as did Ricky Tesner on bass sometime around April, 2012. Chris Hunt joins on guitar in September, 2012, and leaves in November. Beeg and Ricky depart at the end of 2012. Dylan Snyder joins on guitar. WAFT plays as a 3 piece without a bass guitarist for a few months. Adam Watson joins as bassist for a brief month-long stint in May 2013. Zach Jeter fills in on bass for few weeks in July, 2013. Alex Angell joins on bass and vocals in August, 2013. Dylan leaves in February, 2014. August 15th, 2014 sees the arrival of Adam Garrett on guitar. WAFT is now a 4 piece.

This is some real heavy snotty-faced sludge at it's best with an dark gurgling vocals waving around the heavy riffs.

Todays's tune "Southern Sky" is taken from the debut album "Chronolith", released August 14, 2015. Recorded and Mixed by Jay Matheson at The Jam Room. The album was written over the course of 4 years and recorded live over 2 days. "Nothing is true, All is permitted".

Tau Cross - Lazarus

New week, time to crown this weeks "Record of The Week".

TAU CROSS is a punk/metal group of the highest order. Fronted by Rob "The Baron" Miller, vocalist and bassist of the hugely influential UK metallic-punk band AMEBIX, and rounded out by a band that features Michel "Away" Langevin from VOIVOD on drums as well as members of cult crust outfit MISERY by guitarist Jon Misery and Andy Lefton from WAR/PLAGUE. TAU CROSS is the natural evolution of Miller's work in AMEBIX.

The self titled début album filled up with tribal rhythms, searing guitars, punkish post riffs and Miller's huge booming crusty voice all set to an apocalyptic atmosphere to create an instant classic that will satisfy the crustiest punks and the blackest metallers.

Already at the first turn of the record I must say, these guys have fun and I just love Millers voice. It's soar deep and heavy, with a dark crust. He gives TAU CROSS a excellent touch to the melodies. The record keeps a very high class standard, from the start to the unusual end. This is an entirely original work that is the organic fusion of four unique people. They have created an album that walks soulful between crust rock to post metal with gothic influences.

TAU CROSS was formed in 2014 to work on material that I had been working on for a new AMEBIX album, initially recording four tracks in L.A with Roy Mayorga before getting in touch with Andy and Jon with a view to playing the guitar parts. Roy became really busy with his other commitments which opened the conversation with Away, who was immediately in the studio working on the drums for the first group Demo. They reworked all the songs from that point on, with another drum studio session in Montreal, whilst Andy and Jon set up a new studio for the guitar tracks in Minneapolis. Meanwhile on Skye, Miller was recording the vocals and bass tracks whilst James was in the process of finishing his own recording studio a few miles down the coastline. The demo was sent around three labels before being picked up by Relapse who are now the band's record label. The album details are soon to be announced.we are all very proud of what we have achieved in this short time together and hope that we will be getting out on the road in the coming year.

The Baron Nov 2014

Todays tune "Lazarus" is taken from the self titled début album, released May 19th.

Amebix - Knights of the Black Sun

Since we can not quite agree on a common list for this year's top 10 albums, it will be a list from each one of us on the same day, one list position in the morning and same in the evening, it will generate a lot of music here at the Tune Of The Day during these days. This year's list has been really difficult to tie together, started with a Top 50 and was sift hard, ended up that I had to go on the most listening records and many that in the beginning was obvious was removed. Right or wrong, judge youreselfs, hard as hell, I must say.

We start by presenting the positions outside the Top 10 that I, Stones have, that is 11-20 just like last year.

Top 11 - 20 on Tune Of The Day

11. Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us
12. Wooden Shjips - West
13. Hong Faux - The Crown That Wears The Head
14. In Flames - Sounds Of A Playground Fading
15. PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
16. Pyramido - Salt
17. In Solitude - The World, The Flesh, The Devil
18. Black Country Communion - 2
19. Amebix - Sonic Mass
20. Blood Ceremony - Living With The Ancients

Today I pick a song from an album that has grown a lot recently, but unfortunately it has got too little playing time in order to stretch higher and pinch a position in the Top 10. This band is actually quite new to me (Thanks Tom for the tip), Ive heard the name mentioned a lot over the years, but I have to admit, didnt really find out more about them, it has just passed me. This record is actually really good and I recommended this highly.

Amebix are an English crust punk/heavy metal band. Formed as "The Band with No Name," Amebix's original run was from 1978 to 1987, during which time they released three EPs and two full-length LPs. The group has reunited as of 2008.

By being one of the first bands to blend anarcho-punk and heavy metal music, Amebix are often cited as one of the key bands that helped to create the crust punk style. Such notable bands as Sepultura, Neurosis and Deviated Instinct have paid homage to the band.

Todays tune "Knights of the Black Sun " is the first single from the latest release "Sonic Mass", released in 2011
