ZOMBI returns with their new EP, "Liquid Crystal"!
A five track EP, "Liquid Crystal" sees Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra continue to explore the very melodic sensibilities, synthscapes, and driving rhythmic section that propelled the band upon the release of their latest critically acclaimed full-length, 2020. Tracks such as "Black Forest" finds the band leaning on heavy grooves alongside soaring leads, hear it below while the opening and second single "Mangler" oozes with ominous synths as crescendos build and build.
Producing work that is epic in concept, sound, and artistic approach, the masterminds and multi-instrumentalists behind ZOMBI have re-imagined the architecture of progressive rock and dynamic instrumentals by carving a niche in underground music distinctly their own. The band's signature sound is deceptively lush considering its two man skeleton crew ensemble.

Central Pennsylvania old-souled, dirty groove rock quartet CROBOT are back with another sick and sinister groove for us all to dig too with their latest single, "Kiss It Goodbye" and on this tune they have invited a guest vocal from LIGHT THE TORCH's Howard Jones.
The single "Kiss It Goodbye" is featured on the upcoming "Rat Child" EP, which is due June 18 via Mascot Records along with the B side with the recently released track "Mountain" that included a guest turn from ANTHRAX's Frank Bello.
Of the new song, singer Brandon Yeagley states, “‘Kiss It Goodbye’ is a complete full-circle moment for us. We’ve idolized Howard Jones’ ability to pinpoint the perfect melody since picking up our instruments and that dude is on beast mode here. And those guitars sound like they’re right out of an Alien flick - This one is soaked in acidy-spit!”
He continues, “Howard was introduced to us through mutual friends. We have always been huge fans of his melodic footprint and his unique melodies. When we heard he would be interested in writing with us, we were beyond excited. He flew down to Austin and spent a few days in a studio with us. We had a such great chemistry with him and wrote this song. We thought it was a shoe-in for being a track on Motherbrain but for whatever reason, it didn’t make the cut. It seemed like such a travesty to let such a great song sit on the shelf. So, we’re pumped to let the world hear it now.”
Howard Jones adds, “Had a great time writing ‘Kiss It Goodbye’ with CROBOT! Their sound and energy is infectious, and there was no way I was passing up working with them. I hope you all dig it!”

The American hard rockers CROBOT have announced the release of an EP titled "Rat Child" on June 18th. The new EP featuring some really cool guests like on today's tune "Mountain" (featuring Frank Bello from ANTHRAX), "Kiss It Goodbye" (featuring Howard Jones from LIGHT THE TORCH), "Everyone Dies" (featuring Stix Zadina from STEEL PANTHER).
Singer Brandon Yeagley shares, “We’ve grown to know the Anthrax dudes pretty well through touring and developed a working relationship in addition to our friendships. We’ve always talked about writing with Frankie because we have a lot of the same influences and that definitely shines through in "Mountain". Frankie has always lent us his ear and has been a big supporter of ours – it was a treat to work with him on something.”

The Heavy Metal outfit LEGENDRY was formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 2015 by Mastermind Vidarr on Guitars (electric, 6 and 12 string acoustic), Vocals, Mandolin, Mellotron, Swords ;), Evil St. Clair - Bass, Backing Vocals, Battle Axes ;) and Kicker on Drums, Percussion, Necromancy haha, just wonderful.
The third full-length concept album "The Wizard And The Tower Keep", telling the tale of the Warrior with No Name as he battles the evil wizard, Vael, atop the Tower Keep in a dimension of arcane magick and great savagery. The album is based on the novelette, The Wizard and the Tower Keep, by D. R. Lackner. The excellent cover is a painting by Vidarr.
LEGENDRYs traditional 80s metal and classic prog influences make "The Wizard And The Tower Keep" a very enjoyable and fun record to play and if I would have own this before the new year I could say that this one could have reached pretty high on the best album list 2019 as it is easily one of the best heavy metal albums 2019. The album was released on November 1, 2019.
"The Wizard And The Tower Keep" is an album that wavering among their influences from the folkish intro in the opening tune "The Bard’s Tale" to the proggish "Sorcery’s Bane", NWOBHM influenced "Vindicator" is a fun blast of American power metal, to the harder, faster tunes like the shredding "The Lost Road" and the speed metal piece "Behind The Summoner’s Seal" to the epic eleven-minute closer "Earthwarrior", a tune that you for sure will get lost in. I suggest that you seek this up and let it enjoy you for 47 minutes, it will be worth every single minute.
Sum: An excellent heavy metal album released in 2019.

This week we focus a little on who comes to the festival Lollapalooza, we will take a little closer look on a few bands that I find interesting and next week we summarize everything.
First out is the true legend of how the two siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale, at the time 13 and 10 years old, agreed to start a band that were going to stick together through thick and thin is widely spread by now. The fact that they now, 21 years later, still honors that contract is quite moving. Together with Josh Smith and John Joe Hottinger they make up the Pennsylvania-based post-grunge/metal quartet HALESTORM. One of the most successful hard rock groups to emerge during the 21st century. Their aggressive but hook-heavy sound has taken the band around the world and won them a huge fanbase, restlessly performing several hundreds of show each year. HALESTORM is fronted by the incomparably charismatic vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale. Her truly blessed pipes has that rare ability to dance on the verge of exploding, but also knowing when to hold back. With a vocal range that impressing it makes understanding how Halestorm so seamlessly can incorporate both piano ballads and sing-along choruses to their expression, without ever losing the rawness, easier.
HALESTORM released their self-titled debut in 2009 which immediately caught the attention of rock lovers. 2013 saw their sophomore effort "The Strange Case Of…" that won them a Grammy for Best Hardrock/Metal Performance. After "Into The Wild" (2015) with four top 10 mainstream hits, HALESTORM returned last year with the widely celebrated "Vicous". Here we find the golden children of modern rock once again waving the flag of rock with pride and power. But HALESTORMs live show remains their backbone and given the fact the band barely left the road for the last 20 years, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are considered to be one of the greatest live acts around.

BACKWOODS PAYBACK, from West Chester, Pennsylvania released their new album "Future Slum" a few weeks ago. This three-piece band consists of guitarist/vocalist Mike Cummings, bassist Jessica Baker, and drummer Erik Larson.
"Future Slum" is a really good album where music is like Stonergrunge, it heavy, dirty and partly very punky :) Mlny Parsonz of ROYAL THUNDER hurls out a scream on the tune "Whatever". My favorite tune is "Alone", a heavy and very groovy tune, slow pace with a real thickness that the distorted riffing get stuck into the wall when passing five on the volume control, if more is given, your wall will be gone.
