Ministry - Good Trouble

After enduring a year like 2020, no one could have possibly expected Al Jourgensen to stay silent on the maelstrom of the past 12 months. As the mastermind behind pioneering industrial outfit MINISTRY, Jourgensen has spent the last four decades using music as a megaphone to rally listeners to the fight for equal rights, restoring American liberties, exposing exploitation and putting crooked politicians in their rightful place—set to a background of aggressive riffs, searing vocals and manipulated sounds to drive it home

"Moral Hygiene" comes on the heels of MINISTRY’s acclaimed 2018 album "AmeriKKKant" (hailed by Loudwire as Jourgensen’s own “state of the union” address) that was written as a reaction to Donald J. Trump being elected president—though Jourgensen says this new album is more informational and reflective in tone.

“With AmeriKKKant I was in shock that Trump won. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I had to do something. Because I believe if you are a musician or an artist you should be expressing what’s going on around you through your art. It’s going to happen whether you do it consciously or unconsciously. "Moral Hygiene" however has progressed even further into a cautionary tale of what will happen if we don’t act. There’s less rage, but there’s more reflection and I bring in some guests to help cement that narrative".

With the release of "Moral Hygiene", Jourgensen is more positive than before. “This may sound crazy but I’m more hopeful about 2021 than I have been in two decades at least,” he says. “Because I do see things changing; people are starting to see through all the bullshit and want to get back to actual decorum in society. We could just treat each other nicely and be treated nicely in return. I never thought MINISTRY would be in the position of preaching traditional values, but this is the rebellion now".

MINISTRY have released a new single "Good Trouble", taken from the upcoming 15th album "Moral Hygiene", set to be released October 1st, 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records!

Enjoy today's tune!

Thy Catafalque - Vadak

Monday, new week and it's time to present "Record Of The Week"

THY CATAFALQUE has visited Tune Of The Day several times, both as today's tune and "Record Of The Week", now it's time again to ascend the throne and receive the fine award. THY CATAFALQUE do not pretend to produce easy-listening music that comes as easy as it quickly fades out of the mind again. "Vadak", is the Hungarian act’s tenth full-length album, demands to be listened to with full attention, but with every new spin this masterpiece reveals more of its secrets and rewards the listener with a rich treasure of fascinating details.

I can only marvel at the creative vein that "Tamás Kátai" possesses as his project is extremely consistent when it comes to album releases. "Vadak" is just marvelous, a fantastic mix of all different styles that are composed with both style and finesse. From the groovy electronic opening of "Szarvas" with some blackended spices to the folkish following "Köszöntsd A Hajnalt" to the blackended metal in "Gömböc" to the more furious industrial metal "Az Energiamegmaradás Törvénye" and the ten minutes "Móló" gives this record a marvelous start. The second half starts with the jazzy "A Kupolaváros Titka" followed by gypsy folksih piece "Kiscsikó (Irénke Dala)" with marching drums and a lovly guitar playing. "Piros-sárga" a synth feel good tune until it's time for the next monster "Vadak (Az Átváltozás Rítusai)" a twelve minute blistering thing, with glorious guitar, hard hitting drums, marvelous keys, that includes both metal, folk and beautiful passages between the furious technicality and the guest vocals by Martina Veronika Horváth’s that you can hear throughout the album are just stunning and she sings lovly in the album closer "Zúzmara" where a piano shares the musical present. "Vadak" is marvelous journey where you can expect the unexpected and still, you’ll be surprised by his compsions. The album is not for everyone, but those who has a open musical mind will get themselves greatly rewarded by the experience "Vadak" can give you as a listner.

Sum: A marvelous musical labryinth to enjoy in the hammock.

"Vadak" was recorded in Budapest, Hungary | Edinburgh, Scotland | Újvidék / Novi Sad, Serbia | Kolozsvár / Cluj-Napoca, Romania | Kharkov, Ukraine | Tuapse, Russia | Alicante, Spain | Quarten, Switzerland | Haifa, Israel | Austin, Texas, U.S.A. | São Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2020 / 2021. Mixed by Tamás Kátai in Budapest, Hungary, January, 2021. Mastered by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering, Texas, U.S.A., February 2021. Cover artwork by Tamás Kátai. The album was released June 25th, 2021 via Season of Mist.

Einstürzende Neubauten - Alles In Allem

After more than 12 years, EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN released thier long-awaited new studio album "Alles In Allem" translated as 'All in All'. The album marks the quintessence of the band’s output, opening yet another unexpected door in 40 years of ongoing sound research bya very experimental group of musicians around Blixa Bargeld.

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, ("Collapsing New Builds") is a German experimental music group, originally formed in West Berlin in 1980. The group is currently composed of founder members Blixa Bargeld (lead vocals; guitar; keyboard) and N.U. Unruh (custom-made instruments; percussion; vocals), long-time contributor Alexander Hacke (bass; vocals), plus Jochen Arbeit (guitar; vocals), and Rudolf Moser (custom-built instruments; percussion; vocals), who both joined the line-up in 1997.

One of their trademarks is the use of custom-built instruments, predominantly made out of scrap metal and building tools, and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Their early albums were unremittingly harsh, with Bargeld's vocals shouted and screamed above a din of banging and scraping metal percussion. Subsequent recordings found the group's sound growing somewhat more conventional, yet still containing many unorthodox elements.

This band, like nearly no other, has managed to create a musical cosmos. Check out the title tune from the bands latest release, presents an incomparable band that defies categorization to create a genre all its own.

Today's tune "Alles In Allem" it the title tune from EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTENs most compulsively lisenable album to date, enjoy!

Code Orange - Forever

”Forever" is the third studio album by American metalcore band CODE ORANGE. It is the band's major label debut on Roadrunner Records following a stint on the indie label Deathwish Inc. and was released on January 13, 2017.

”Forever” is a metallic industrial hardcore album, where it features influences from various different styles in metal and hardcore, including industrial metal and nu metal. The album also employs "pitch-shifted vocal samples, glitched-out effects and dissonant layers of screeching noise”.

Regarding influences, that is something that's going to fill up my head and soul tonight. The Annual "Hårdrocks" (Hardrocks) evening is today :) Rock on.

Eric Balderose – vocals, guitars, synthesizer,
 Reba Meyers – vocals, guitars,
 Joe Goldman – bass,
 Jami Morgan – drums, vocals

The title track and today’s tune is causing mass destruction to anything nearby, so beware before you hit play, you have been warned.

Igorrr - ieuD

"Savage Sinusoid" is the newest addition to Igorrr’s musical madness, released on Metal Blade Records. Completely sample-free, the album features vocalists Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec, along with drummer Sylvain Bouvier, and showcases more musicians than any of Igorrr previous releases – one of those guests being CATTLE DECAPITATIONs Travis Ryan, who lends his vocals on “Cheval”, “Apopathodiaphulatophobie” and “Robert”, while we can see also Teloch, from Mayhem, performing the guitars and the bass on the track “Viande”.

While "Savage Sinusoid" draws from a plethora of genres, Serre has no intention of baffling or alienating potential listeners. As he explains:"I just want to make the music I love, without asking myself if it's gonna be too complex or too far from what people like. I want to make the music which has sense to me, with no restrictions, like a big party with metalheads, electronics nerds, classical and baroque-heads and gypsy violinists getting drunk and joining together to bring the best of every genre."

Initially influenced by the likes of MESSHUGGAH, CHOPON, CANNIBAL CORPSE, BACH, DOMENCIO SCARLATTI, TARAF DE HAIDOUKS and APHEX TWIN, traces of these artists can be found littered across Igorrr’s discography, but Serre has never been interested in remaining static or merely recycling ideas, and his work has dramatically evolved accordingly. It deeply explains how Igorrr’s music is such an explosion of creativity while keeping a cohesive universe records after records.

In recent years, Igorrr has also become a collective, rather than the work of one man alone, which has brought a new level of intensity into the group live representations.

Today's tune "ieuD" is taken from "Savage Sinusoid", enjoy this madness!

Thåström - Centralmassivet

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"Centralmassivet" is Mr. Thåström's ninth solo album. Industry blues with electronic groove and a soulful singing is his trademark and that is what you will get with this release. Even from an international perspective, Thåström has developed a sound that is unique with Swedish lyrics that is just killing sensitive. And with Pelle Ossler's significantly dangling guitars, Niklas Hellberg's organ, Ulf Rockis Ivarsson bass lines, Mikael Nilzen keyboards, Nikolas Janco's drumming makes "Centralmassivet" another terrific album by Thåström.

The album starts with "Bluesen I Malmö" flows in the same stream as "Jeffrey Lee Pierce", but more deeper and cyrillic. In the dark monotonous electronic shadows of "Körkarlen" I feel lucky and I Just love the sequencer bass that drives the tune forward. The title track is a beautiful ballad with a sensitive Thåström to move forward to the spoken word-rock, Thåström has never been so inspired by Bruno K Öijer as at "Old Point Bar". "Låt Det Goda" is a captivating tune, cruel and fuzzy to make a break in the album to a senselessly beautiful ballad "Aldrig Av Med Varandra" where we hear the voice of LaGaylia Frazier in the background. The magically "Som mästarna målat himlen" where Pugh Rogefeldt appears among the songwriters is a real highlight on the album. "Karaokebaren" is a powerful tune, smokey and Industrial. "Natten För Det Här" is a slow piece and ends the album lovely!

The album contains 9 tunes that clocks in at almost 45 min. Released September 29, 2017. It was recorded at Hansa-studio in Berlin and produced by Thåström and Niklas Hellberg.

Sum: "Centralmassivet" is a sensitive and very beautiful album that is a must for every Thåström fan.

Today's tune is the title track from "Centralmassivet". The clip is from last weeks tour premier at Lisebergshallen October 11, 2017

Laibach - Vor Sonnen-Aufgang

On 8 June 2017 LAIBACH announced new album "Also Sprach Zarathustra" to be released 14 July 2017 along with the lead single "Das Nachtlied I" and an accompanying tour. The songs on the album were originally composed for a theatrical production of Thus Spoke Zarathustra, based on Friedrich Nietzsche’s novel of the same name.

LAIBACH (Slovene pronunciation: [ˈlájbax]) is a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with the industrial, martial, and neo-classical genres. Formed in Trbovlje (at the time in Yugoslavia) in 1980, LAIBACH represents the musical wing of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) collective, a group which LAIBACH helped found in 1984. The name "Laibach" is the German name for the Slovenian capital Ljubljana (which was unwelcome in Tito's Yugoslavia).

Richard Wolfson wrote of the group:

LAIBACH method is extremely simple, effective and horribly open to misinterpretation. First of all, they absorb the mannerisms of the enemy, adopting all the seductive trappings and symbols of state power, and then they exaggerate everything to the edge of parody... Next they turn their focus to highly charged issues — the West's fear of immigrants from Eastern Europe, the power games of the EU, the analogies between Western democracy and totalitarianism.

Today’s tune "Vor Sonnen-Aufgang” is taken from new album "Also Sprach Zarathustra”, enjoy! The Video was directed by MICHAEL SAUP and Produced by ANDREAS ERHART

Lizette & - No More Lies

The industry rockers LIZETTE & have released a new single and lyric video "No More Lies" taken from the upcoming fourth album, set to release in May on Freeside Records/Border.

LIZETTE & continues to conquer new grounds on several levels. The fourth studio album (still without a name) is soon to be completed and marks a new level in the bands progress.

”We have worked much closer as a band in the creation of this album, says Lizette von Panajott. ”We have previously worked under firm dictatorship with me, myself and I at the helm, but I felt it was time to let the boys in a ”little” bit more in the creative process. It has been a super fun journey with many hours spent in RedDoor Studio and we’ll let the result speak for it self”.

Another major change is the bands line up as Micke ”INK” Östling moved on to fly on his own wings last year. Marqz now alone handles the six strings, another contributing factor to the renewed sound.

LIZETTE & will increase their efforts outside of Sweden with coming releases. Their previous nominations in “Rockbjörnen”, peoples choice awards in Sweden, (Breakthrough of the year, Best Live Band and Best Hardrock/Metal) is something the band proudly takes with them in their new efforts.

”The fact that we will work harder outside of Sweden does not in any way mean that we will slow down in Sweden. The tour this year will be bigger then any previous tour since the band started. It just means we will work harder and add territories. No pain – no gain, says bands bass player Tomas.

The video to ”No More Lies” will be released shortly and you can expect more singles and more craziness from the band before the album is released in May.

Nine Inch Nails - Head Like A Hole

Sunday, time for a classic and today we turn to the west and invite in Trent Reznor.

From the album Pretty Hate Machine we find todays tune "Head Like A Hole".

Pretty Hate Machine is the debut album by American industrial rock act Nine Inch Nails, released October 20, 1989, on TVT Records. Pretty Hate Machine is compiled of reworked tracks from the Purest Feeling demo, as well as tracks recorded after its recording. The album spawned three singles, the most successful being "Head Like a Hole", which has become a staple in Nine Inch Nails live performances.

The album became one of the first independently released records to attain platinum certification. On 12 May 2003 the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album triple platinum, denoting sales of three million in the United States. It was commercially and critically successful for an independent label, but Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails' only constant band member) feuded with TVT (the original publishing label of the album) during promotion. The album was out of print from around 1997 to 2005, due to the much publicized falling out between Reznor and the record label. Rykodisc re-released the album around the world in 2005, effectively putting the album back into print. A remastered version was released on November 22, 2010.

Nine Inch Nails (abbreviated as NIИ) is an American industrial rock band, founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio. As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains solely responsible for its direction. Nine Inch Nails' music straddles a wide range of genres. After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. The touring band features a revolving lineup that often rearranges songs to fit a live setting. On stage, Nine Inch Nails often employs visual elements to accompany performances, which frequently include light shows.

On the 05.10.2014 will NIN's tour come to Stockholm, Sweden for a show at Hovet. Support during this evening is Cold Cave

Dead Soul - Kill The Past

Monday, time to crown this week's "Record Of The Week".

Swedish Dead Soul and their début album which came out last year under the title "In The Darkness"

Dead Soul was formed in 2012 as a cooperation between blues artist Slidin' Slim and electronic artist, song writer and producer Niels Nielsen. The two of them had collaborated earlier, but now, as Dead Soul, they have created something entirely new and darkly enthralling.

They labeled themselves their music as "Industrial Doom Blues" and it will not take many minutes on the record in order to agree on the designation even though there are actually a variety of synonyms to describe how Dead Soul sounds like. "In The Darkness" is a pretty dark and mysterious. 11 tracks that deals with the darker sides of existing, Death of course.

This is very good and I do recommend that you check this out if you got some feeling for some heavier industrial blues doom!

Todays tune "Kill The Past" is taken from the début record In The Darkness, released 2013.

Czar - Aortic Flower

New music is something that you almost drowned in nowadays, considering how easy it is to get over things in the digital world, sometimes some you read about something that looks interesting and you'll check it out, sometimes you just doing some dull surf at the web and you run into something interesting. However, not everything is good, but one or two gems pop up in between, today's song is one such thing i found during a "dull-surf".

The Chicago based progressive post-punk sludge trio have released an very interesting album named as simple as "No One Is Alone If No One Is Alive".

Czar formed in January of 2009 from the ashes of Chicago's industrial-metal juggernaut Acumen Nation. The trio consisting of Jason Novak, Dan Brill and Brian Elza is a fusion of brain and brawn, power and finesse, brutality and hooks, or what Outburn Magazine has coined “thinking man’s metal”.

The first references I found was Gojira and Mastodon but more sludge. The album, an expressive 44-minute slab of heavy sludge full of clean guitar tones and old-school industrial elements, is truly a worthwhile piece of music for any fan of heavy music.

Todays tune "Aortic Flower" is taken from their latest offering "No One Is Alone If No One Is Alive"

Lizette & - Golden Shower

Lizette & has recently released a new single titled "Golden Shower" as well as a new video that really goes in the name of Art! Here you get the bass player and artist Tomas Johansson to show off his artistic side. Beautiful, oh yes!

The Night Owl Lizette, has her's greatest creativity during nighttime, she says that this is the perfect time to create music, when you almost feel the chill of the wind outside the window and sense the moonlight in the room as she composes and sings.

Interest in Lizette von Panajott and her music has grown both in Sweden and in the U.S.. They have been nominated for Rockbjörnen two consecutive years in the categories of: "Breakthrough of the Year",  "Live Group of the Year" and "HardRock/Metal of the Year".

Lizette von Panajott have been previously described as Alanis Morissette on steroids, which is an apt description. She has always been independent and all the time gone her own way. Her lyrics are often inspired by thoughtful message.

Todays tune "Golden Shower" is the first single to be taken from their upcoming album to be released in February 2014.

Gary Numan - Love Hurt Bleed

Gary Numan “The master of electro", born Gary Anthony James Webb on 8 March 1958 is an English singer, composer, and musician. Most widely known for his chart-topping 1979 hits "Are 'Friends' Electric?" (as Tubeway Army) and "Cars", Numan achieved his peak of mainstream popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but maintains a loyal cult following.

Numan, whose signature sound consists of heavy synthesiser hooks fed through guitar effects pedals, is considered a pioneer of commercial electronic music.

Todays tune "Love Hurt Bleed" is taken from the twentieth studio album "Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind)", released on 9 October 2013.

He has been influencing artists for three decades–from Nine Inch Nails to Marilyn Manson to myself. Now he is taking from his descendants and making the ideas his own. It is apparent Gary is very human when he sings his words. They are fully passionate and beautifully painful. If you have the latest Nine Inch Nails release, you need to hear Splinter. You will learn who the master is.”

Mindless Self Indulgence - It Gets Worse

Mindless Self Indulgence (often identified using the abbreviation MSI) is an American musical group formed in New York in 1997. Their music has a mixed style including punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, techno, industrial, hip hop and breakcore. Their group name is derived from a solo EP that frontman Jimmy Urine wrote in 1995.

The group maintains a devout fanbase, and has opened for many well-known acts such as Linkin Park, System of a Down, Korn, Sum 41, Insane Clown Posse and Rammstein. Notable bands who have opened for them include The Red Paintings, The Dresden Dolls, Rasputina, mc chris, The Birthday Massacre, Tub Ring, Death Spells, and Dog Fashion Disco.

A few weeks ago they did a little quirky but incredibly action packed concert, hard electro punk stuff that really got the crowd to dance.

Todays tune "It Gets Worse” is taken from the fifth studio album "How I Learned to Stop Giving a Shit and Love Mindless Self Indulgence”. The album was funded through a Kickstarter campaign started on October 25, 2012, which reached its goal on December 24, 2012. The name of the record is a reference to the film Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and a reflection of the band "being themselves and loving the work that they do"

Anaal Nathrakh - Forging Towards The Sunset

We continue in a slightly more extreme groove and remain in England.

Anaal Nathrakh are a British extreme metal band formed in 1999 who fuse black metal, grindcore, death metal and industrial music.

The name comes from Merlin's Charm of Making in John Boorman's 1981 film Excalibur. According to Michael Everson's transcription, Anaal Nathrakh means "serpent's breath".

Anaal Nathrakh began as a purely studio-based project; the band never looked to take Anaal Nathrakh to the stage. However, following a successful BBC Radio 1 live session with John Peel (as heard on the 2006 re-release of The Codex Necro), they sought to play live again, although only for special one-offs. They have stated they are not to become an ordinary touring band.

Todays tune "Forging Towards The Sunset" is taken from the seventh full-length album "Vanitas". It was released on October 23, 2012.

This clip is Live at Foufounes Electriques, Montreal

Band members:

Irrumator (Mick Kenney) (Frost, Mistress, Sorrows, Professor Fate, Fukpig) – guitars, bass, drums, drum programming, production
