DEAD GHOSTS are a five-piece garage rock and/or roll band from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Rauchy lo-fi recording style, country esque vibes "sweet guitar pluck and jangle", driving
rhythms, and the occasional Back From The grave feel is the basic make up of their songs.
To get another idea of their sound, they've gotten comparisons to namely the bands THE BLACK LIPS
and KING KHAN & BBQ SHOW.
Today's tune "Cut Off My Hair" is a great new single from the them, looking forward to hear some more.
Enjoy!
"Junior's Eyes" is a tune made by the English rock band BLACK SABBBTH, taken from the eighth studio album "Never Say Die!", released in September 1978. It was the last studio album with the band's original lineup and the last studio album to feature original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne until the 2013 album "13". It was certified Gold in the U.S on 7 November 1997 and as of November 2011 has sold 133,000 copies in the United States since the SoundScan era. The album received mixed reviews, with critics calling it "unbalanced" and insisting its energy was scattered in too many directions.
"Junior's Eyes" was dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne's father, who died in 1977 while they were making "Never Say Die!" Ozzy was booted from the band the following year and launched a successful solo career. He returned to the band from time to time, including for Live Aid in 1985.
"Junior's Eyes" was covred by the Canadian psychedelic rock band BLACK MOUNTAIN and the band have blessed the world with two unreleased songs, “Junior’s Eyes” and “Future Shade (Demo)” on thier latest single release on March 10th on Jagjaguwar.
Stephen McBean says of the cover of "Junior’s Eyes":
“Deep end period Ozzy slow burn. Some Butler / Ward funk, Iommi wah flutters and floating synths … randomly rediscovered on a cruise through some red sand tropics. Nearly ten years on and still pulling riffs from the sky…. never say die! You’re never too old to switch on and upwards!”
The rock canon has many anti-heroes, BLACK MOUNTAIN being the latest. In the past, Can’s 'Tago Mago' established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules. Delinquent proto-metallers Black Sabbath demonstrated that you can make a lot from not that much. Now BLACK MOUNTAIN teach us that you don’t have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future.
"Somewhere between sheer, apocalyptic heaviness and precise riffing, lays otherworldly ANCIIENTS—a Vancouver-based rock juggernaut forging crushing heavy metal evocative of veterans HIGH ON FIRE and contemporary sonic craftsmen, OPETH. ANCIIENTS have combined fuck-off-huge chords with mind-altering riffage that takes you on an unfamiliar trip.
"Voice Of The Void" reaches position 6 on Tune Of The Day's Top 100 list of the best albums 2016.
Intoxicating mix of darker sludge and heavier progressive black metal gloom that will blow you away.
Today's tune "Following The Voice", taken from "Voice of the Void"
One of Canada's finest upcoming Rock Bands "We Hunt Buffalo". The band plays classic rock guitar with synth sounds, seeped in a copious amount of fuzz.
Their catalogue is an eclectic mix, filled with hard- hitting grooves and psychedelic overtones. It's a culmination of years playing music togther in a small Vancouver suburb. We Hunt Buffalo know how to write a damn fine Stoner Rock song with loads of groove and plenty of power to kick your ass all over. If you like it heavy, you'll like We Hunt Buffalo.

Todays tune "The Search" is taken from their début self titled album released 21 January 2012. Recorded at 'The Hive' in Burnaby. BC
. "The Search" a glimpse of We Hunt Buffalo in their element - out in the wild and up to no good - with true-to-form 'farm boy' antics.
Yesterday it was time again for the annual hard rock evening that is always on eve of Twelfth Night. With great excitement got to play my own choices and to hear what the other participants have made up for this, perhaps best of all, discovering some new or old music that you did not know of and yes I found many during this evening that i need to look up/buy. In the biggest secret I have pieced together the tracks for this evening, some new discoveries that showed up at the last minute and one which I brooding on for a whole year :) Some tracks were obvious through the presentation of the 2013's best albums that went on during Christmas and New Year. Crazy, yes really crazy.
This year'sstarting field! Yes the colourful record is mine :)
One of the beers at the evening!
So over the next few days I'll present my choices in the order of recording i had with me, some tracks I already have played here before, but that does not matter, good things should be repeated!
Here they come. Track no. 1 (track no.2 tomorrow and so on...)
My first choice from yesterday's Hard Rock Night, was the Vancouver-based rock juggernaut Anciients with the tune "Raise The Sun". Is no better way to start an evening of 2013's best album and debut. With their apocalyptic heaviness and precise riffage that takes you on an unfamiliar trip.
Todays tune "Raise the Sun" live at au Club Soda à Montréal 23.04.13
