Blues Pills - Gypsy

I head across the country, looking for Mexico
I got stuck in Kansas with no place to go
Oh I'm a gypsy, that's what I am
Uh, I'm a gypsy, and I don't give a damn
Somebody took my load
And I got no place to go
But I'm trying to find my mind
Yes I'm trying to find myself

That's the first verse from the song "Gypsy" by the Swedish rock act BLUES PILLS.

The band formed back in 2011 when Elin Larsson, Cory Berry and Zack Anderson, all just in their early twenties, formed a group which should quickly become one of the most acclaimed and interesting bands in music. Behold the birth of a new musical experience, an experience we thought was long gone, lost in time and space. Behold the birth of BLUES PILLS.

The young American-Swedish-French quartet create a very unique, intense and extraordinary rock atmosphere while at the same time having a major mainstream appeal that takes you right back to the time of BLUES PILLS’ ancestors Aretha Franklin, THE ORIGINAL FLEETWOOD MAC, LED ZEPPELIN, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and CREAM. Driving bass lines, grooving drums and guitar solos from another planet by the only 18 year old Dorian Sorriaux, harmonized and tied together with such easiness, such delight, by Elin’s incredible voice.

Todays tune "Gypsy" is taken from the self-titled debut album, released on 25 July 2014. Recorded in Gothenburg with infamous producer Don Alsterberg (GRAVEYARD). The artwork is by the incredible artist Marijke Koger-Dunham and it was painted sometime in the late 60’s. The Video by Zack Anderson and Color by Filmgruppe Chaos.

Janis Joplin - Ball & Chain

Its Sunday and Classic time :D

One of the most known female in the rock/psychedelic soul business is Janis Joplin. I dont know anyone that have had sucha feeling when she sings.

The last recording of Janis was done the 1st of October 1970, I think the song was "Mercedes Benz" on the 4th she left her earthly life, that been both bad and good, in the end it was mainly about the drugs, .

But even then it couldnt kill her strength or drive to create more music.
Drugs really do shit with peoples head and soul.

Anyway she is one of the coolest singers in this genre.

The tune I´ve choosen today is "Ball 'n' Chain" this is a tune by Big Mama Thornton, she wrote and recorded "Ball 'n' Chain," which became a hit for her.
Janis Joplin later recorded it with the Big Brother and the Holding Company where Janis was the lead singer from 1966-1968 then they sorta splitted up.

(Janis sang the song twice at Woodstock 1969, after fans cheered for an encore).

Ladys and Gents, here is Janis Joplin!

Peace and Love to ya all, Thetania
