Shotgun Sawyer - Bury The Hatchet

Monday, a new week, time for the "Record Of The Week".

"Bury The Hatchet" is the second full-length album by the Auburn, California’s SHOTGUN SAWYER. The album was released on April 19th by Ripple Music.

SHOTGUN SAWYER is a raw, blues-infused rock n' roll band that consists of the bassist Brett "The Butcher" Sanders, guitarist/vocalist Dylan Jarman, and drummer David Lee. They teamed up in January of 2015 with the intent to revive and reimagine the musical styles of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, treading similar ground to LED ZEPPELIN, ZZ TOP, and BLACK SABBATH.

The result is a thundering, passionate, toe-tapping, knee-slapping and unique mixture of tasty bass grooves, crunchy riffs, searing guitar solos, and powerful vocals, all underpinned by virtuosic drumming. This is rock n' roll the way it was meant to be played.

"Bury The Hatchet" is a 9 track bluesy album with a big spectrum from the opening uptempo "Aint Trying To Go Down Slow" that has a groove that makes it hard to sit still in the boat, follows up with another groovy high octane rocker "(Let Me) Take You Home", the tune slows down a bit and gives us a lovely bluesy distorted solo. "Backwoods Bear" is an old school acoustic blues number with a great stomp. The gear hits the next level in "You Got To Run", where the distorted riffing get a place in the sun. The dreamily somber "Son Of The Morning" is a real beauty, fat and slow riffs along with a soulful voice make this a high note on the album. In the next tune "Hombre" the guys give a nod to ZZ TOP with this blues rocker. Another heavy blues piece is "When The Sun Breaks" with great guitar handling. The album closes up with heavy bass licks in blues rocker "Shallow Grave". "Bury The Hatchet" is an album full of soul-burning blues that will sort any BBQ out this summer or a long car drive up to the north.

Sum: An excellent heavy blues rocker that should not be missed.

King Buffalo - Centurion

Friday and finally this week is over, got 2 days off, the hole weekend, whoa!! This evening, almost by my self, a glutefree beer, some music spinning on the stereo and I feel free, happy and totaly relaxed, even if im dead tierd after a hard week at work, the music in the space make me enjoy life so much. Got a little flash back earlier today, was thinking of KING BUFFALOS show that they did earlier this year here in Sweden, a magical time, so when I came home it was time to air the vinyl a bit, a spin of the "Repeater" EP with Rochester, psychedelic/heavy blues band KING BUFFALO.

An EP that is an magical minimalist drone rumble at it's best. Almost 25 minutes of the finest of KING BUFFALO. 3 tunes which slides like the best beer, so smoothly through the mouth, through the throat down to the stomach and finally ends up in the toilet an hour later. Except for the last sentence. The last tune on the EP "Centurion" is a true magnificent piece that invades your ears with heavy driving riffs and a familiar groove. Psychedelic, blues and stoner overtones combine with thunderous bass and drums, reminiscent of heavy 70’s rock. A wall of sound, a trio of soaring sounds, and an unrelenting pace merge to form their own musical styling.

So enjoy today's tune, I will for sure.

Here is a live clip from the same tour, but in Norway at Parkteatret in Oslo, 26.04.2018!

Black Elephant - Cosmic Soul

One would be hard-pressed to come up with a better descriptor for the Italian, BLACK ELEPHANTs "Cosmic Blues" than the title of their third album itself.

BLACK ELEPHANT is a four-piece rock band from Savona, Italy that has conjured ghosts of '70s heavy psychedelic rock to blues and masterful '90s riff-mongering southern sludge to offer a brew both potent and thoroughly modern.

BLACK ELEPHANT is comprised of lead vocalist/lead guitarist Alessio Caravelli, rhythm guitarist Massimiliano Giacosa, bassist Marcello Destefanis, and drummer Simone Brunzu.

Today's tune is the title track from "Cosmic Blues", the album is recorded and mixed by Giulio Farinelli. Recorded at Green Fog Studio, Genoa, Italy. Mixed by Giulio Farinelli at Everybody On The Shore studio, Milan, Italy. Mastered by Maurizio Giannotti at New Mastering Studio, Milan, Italy. Cover and Design by Robin Gnista. Published by Small Stone Records (ASCAP).

The Mojo Sinners - The Traveller

THE MOJO SINNERS are a heavy blues rock band formed in the South Wales valleys during early 2015. The band comprises Dave Williams (formerly of South Wales blues legends BLUE TRAFFIC) on guitar and vocals, Dane Campbell (also a member of rockers STRAIGHT LINES) on drums and Ross McInch on bass guitar. Between them they have shared stages with blues legends Robert Cray, Robin Trower, Walter Trout and VIRGIL AND THE ACCELERATORS, as well as grunge rockers THE PRESIDENTS OF THE USA, FEEDER and the mighty MOTÖRHEAD. The Mojo Sinners’ sound is a unique combination of heavy rock riffs and blues guitar solos, all played with the raw punk energy of early grunge.

Jimi Hendrix has always been a huge source of inspiration for Dave Williams, which can be heard in his guitar playing as well as his voodoo, gypsy-themed lyrics. Dave recently discovered that some of his ancestors were Romany Travellers, sparking a fascination that fueled the concept of the trio’s debut EP "The Carnival", telling tales of old-fashioned travelling circus acts, fortune tellers, curses and the gypsy woman scorned, Belladonna.

Today's tune "The Traveller" is taken from "The Carnival EP". The Video is directed by James Cuff.
