Thursday, time for a cover. "Working Man" is a song by rock band RUSH from their self-titled debut album. In an interview on the Rolling Stone youtube channel, bassist and lead vocalist Geddy Lee said that "Working Man" is his favorite song to play live."Working Man" became a favourite among RUSH fans; the guitar solo appeared on Guitar World magazine's 100 Greatest Guitar Solos list.
Like all of the songs on the band's first album, the song features original drummer John Rutsey, who was replaced by Neil Peart in 1974. On the 1976 live album "All the World's a Stage", the song segues into "Finding My Way" and a drum solo by Peart. After not being performed live for most of the 1980s and 1990s, it returned to RUSH's setlists during the 2002 "Vapor Trails" Tour. With the exception of the 2007-08 "Snakes & Arrows" Tour, the song appeared on every live setlist through the "R40 Live" Tour of 2015, the band's last. It was included on the live albums and videos of the tours in which it was used, except for "Clockwork Angels" Tour; for "R40 Live", it was played as part of a medley with "What You're Doing" and ended with a snippet of "Garden Road," a song from the band's early catalog.
In Tribute to The Professor, Neil Peart, FU MANCHU did releasing thier version of RUSH's "Working Man" that they recorded January 2020. All Proceeds will benefit Brain Tumor Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in his memory. Members of our band and our manager were in the audience on August 1, 2015 when this was the final song played by Neil, Geddy and Alex. We are forever grateful for all of the music and memories.
"D.o.a" is a tune by the American hard rock band VAN HALEN and is taken from the second studio album "Van Halen II", released on March 23, 1979. As of 2004, it has sold almost six million copies in the United States.
It's a tune that first saw it's lite on the demo that was sent to Warner Brothers. The lyrics were in some instances completely different from the final version, and some parts that were mumbled, that could be the reason why it wasn't on the first album.
The tune is written by and Edward Van Halen.
Today's version is by the American stoner rock band FU MANCHU, taken from the EP "The Hung Out to Dry". It was released in 2006 on Liquor and Poker Music/Century Media Records. It contains a CD with four songs and a 7" with two songs. Both are in one special package called "The Deuce". It looks basically like a double-LP but is single-sized. The artwork was by John McGill who later designed We Must Obey. FU MANCHU will head out on a 30th Anniversary Tour, that including dates in West Coast US, Canada, UK and Europe, see all the dates below and enjoy today tune!

Los Angeles band, THE FREEKS, know that as the Earth revolves the sun and the Universe infinitely expands, it must be shared with as many different kinds of life as there are stars. A bold statement coming from a bunch of FREEKS. This is not a new concept, however, an ever-recurring one dating back to Ezekiel’s biblical account to even further back with evidence from ancient Egypt and Mayan times. After 4,000 years the theory continues strong as we enter 2018.
THE FREEKS also enter 2018 with the completion of "CRAZY WORLD", their fourth full length “LP” and second release for Italian based HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS RECORDS. A studio record with eight songs that take you on a psychedelic journey from hidden moonlit distilleries all the way up to the Mothership and back down to Mother Earth. It could have happened in 2700 BC and it’s definitely happening again now as THE FREEKS continue to ferment their ethanol infused fuzz rock, bead their songwriting to reflect a heavier content and extract added amounts of psychoactive chemicals from the minds of their listeners.
THE FREEKS consists of: Ruben Romano (founding member of FU MANCHU and NEBULA) returns at the helm supported by Bob Lee on drums (CLAW HAMMER, MIKE WATT), Esteban Steban Chavez on Keys, Jonathan Hall on Guitar (BACKBITER) and introducing the latest Freek on Bass, Ray Piller (BIBLICAL PROOF OF U.F.O.’s).
Today's tune "American Lightning" taken from the album "Crazy World", featuring the ripping guitar leads by Ray Hanson (from legendary THEE HYPNOTICS), enjoy!

After bursting to the American heavy rock forefront with their 2014 debut album, Sateen, Electric Citizen released their second album, Higher Time in 2016; a breakout moment for the band as a whole and for vocalist Laura Dolan. Like its predecessor, Higher Time was recorded at The Diamonds studio in Cincinnati by Brian Olive (The Greenhornes, Dan Auerbach, Dr. John, etc.), and in search of an even more expansive feel, Laura, Ross and Brian traveled to mix alongside Black Keys engineer Collin Dupuis at Easy Eye in Nashville, TN.
ELECTRIC CITIZEN branch out with stage-born assurance across a collection of definitive rock ‘n’ roll. It is a bold, complete sound that sacrifices nothing of the band’s on-stage energy and clearly demonstrates that while their progression has been quick, it’s been hard won the traditional way: They worked their collective ass off. ELECTRIC CITIZEN brazenly refuse to be pigeonholed and craft a style that, like every stage they step onto, is completely their own. Look for them on the road in North America and Europe throughout 2018 and beyond.
Today's tune "Misery Keeper" taken from the bands latest release "Higher Time", enjoy!
Monday, New Week, Last Day of July, time to introduce ”Record Of The Week”.
DUNSMUIR is a very intressting side project, a band that includes members from CLUTCH, FU MANCHU, DIO/SABBATH etc catching your interest huh? The album was released July 22, 2016.
DUNSMUIR crew is composed of super rockers such as CLUTCH s frontman, Neil Fallon navigating vocals, legendary drummer Vinny Appice of DIO era BLACK SABBATH, the FU MANCHU bassist Brad Davis and Dave Bone (from Dave's & Fallon’s other-side-project, THE COMPANY BAND) anchoring away on the guitar.
The self title album ”Dunsmuir" is a real rocker, it’s like a heavier version of CLUTCH or a more rockier FU MANCHU dipped in BLACK SABBATH, an inevitably fantastic combinations. Think, Crackers and Cheese, Cinnamon roll and milk, BLACK SABBATH and CLUTCH, catching the drift.
”Dunsmuir” is a catchy son of a bitch, with 10 tunes clocking in at 35 mins, too short for me so the repeat button was hit kind quickly. After a few spins in my headphones I got hooked. Ordered my Vinyl on the spot. ”Dunsmuir” is a concept record about the fates met by survivors of a 19th century shipwreck.
Already with the opening tune “Hung on The Rocks” you hear Neil Fallon’s inimitable and dominate vocals, together with heavy powerful drumming by Appice and the formidable strings team Davis and Bone. "Our Only Master” is a real rocker that could be on any NWOBHM album, heavy riffing, catchy melody and furious drumming. The punchy "The Bats (Are Hungry Tonight)” is a real killer, it will hit you in the head with a sable tooth. "What Manner of Bliss?” is half pace sludgy piece, heavy SABBATH riffing, hard snare drumming. ”Deceiver” is a catchy uptempo tune and so is "…And Madness”. "Orb Of Empire” have a pretty cool chorus and monotone heavy riffing. "Church Of The Tooth” is a slow and sludgy, a more clearer bass here then it would been a real killer, it's still good. "The Gate” is a solid rocker and the album ends with the top notch tune "Crawling Chaos”, sneaky and heavy and just brutally fantastic!
Sum: ”Dunsmuir” rocks, simple as that!
Today’s tune "Crawling Chaos!” is taken from the self titled album with DUNSMUIR, Enjoy!
