SAMAVAYO is a Stonerrock band from Berlin, Germany.
SAMAVAYO have been a trio since 2013. "Dakota" is their debut album in this formation. A mix of stonerrock, psych, 70s, progressive and hard rock with oriental influences. Strong riffs, rhythms and a remarkable voice.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the city was open, letting in cultural influences from any foreign country. The capital city became a multi‐cultural melting pot where a singer from Teheran and two brothers from Berlin started making music. 500 live shows in Europe and overseas followed, including gigs in Brazil, Albania, Greece, Croatia and France. In 2018 they released their latest album "Vatan".
All three band members grew up in East‐Berlin and consists of:

VALLEY OF THE SUN is a four-piece desert-rock band out of Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in 2010, "Old Gods" is their third release and catches our ears today. VALLEY OF THE SUN has frequently been here on Tune Of The Day, a rock band that I do really like, it's like a medium rare steak, taste good and sounds excellent.
"Old Gods" offers a broad pallet of righteous riffs and heavy sound mixed with sensitive and soulful tones. Already from the first opening title track, the sensitive and layback guitar play, where the fingers almost caress the strings before the drums roll in, the heavy guitar and the almost grungy vocals give the tune a bit of energy. "All We Are" is another grunge piece, great guitar sling, hefty drumming, and a catchy chorus. Acoustic guitar opens up the lovely mellow instrumental piece "Gaia Creates". Righteous riff kicks on the energic and catchy tune "Dim Visions". Then it's time for a little break on the album with an instrumental ritualistic drum tune "Shiva Destroys" that follows up with furious force in the short flash of "Fire Walker". "Into The Abyss" is a slower, light psychedelic piece that flows like an eagle over the desert. "Faith Is For Suckers" follows the grunge template. "Buddha Transcends" is another short break on the album, atmospheric guitars that you can lose your mind awhile before the guitars speed up a bit in the heavy and catchy piece "Means The Same". The album closes up with "Dreams Of Sand", soft start that burst up for a short while, great riffing, fat bassline along with excellent and superb vocals. The only bad thing is the fade out in the end. The production is great along with all the distorted sounds and I will enjoy this for a great amount of time. Well done lads.

As we always do, we dedicate this day to all mothers and we play a classic tune in her favor. My kid's mother loves METALLICA, so let's pick a tune from them.
"Mama Said" is a country-rock ballad by American heavy metal band METALLICA from their sixth album "Load", with music and lyrics by James Hetfield (music credited to Hetfield/Ulrich). The lyrics represent a man or boy who is learning to find his own way in life away from his mother. The song is directly written about Hetfield's difficult relationship with his mother, who died of cancer when he was 16 years old.
The song is a departure from METALLICAs usual heavy metal sound; its genre-blending style incorporates country, blues, and hard rock. "Mama Said" begins with acoustic guitar and, during the chorus, becomes flush with a country-flavored vocal harmony and steel guitar. Toward the end, the song features power chords on electric guitar.
This is a song for James Hetfield's mother, who died of cancer when he was young. The song talks about his regrets of not being able to spend more time with her and how he hopes that she will still love him when he sees her again ("Mama now I'm coming home. I'm not all you wished of me. A mother's love for her son unspoken, help me be. Yeah I took your love for granted and all the things you said to me. I need your arms to welcome me. But a cold stone is all I see."), sad story but hey, he misses his mother and so do I.
"Mama Said" has never been featured as a part of METALLICAs live setlist. Hetfield has performed this song live, however, using a single steel-stringed acoustic guitar with no drum or bass accompaniment. He also performed it along with country singer Jessi Colter on CMT's Outlaw Concert, along with Hetfield's cover of Waylon Jennings's "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand."

FOGHOUND, is an American rock band from San Ramon, California. "Awaken To Destroy" is thier latest release where work began on the album in November 2016, with producer Frank Marchand (THE OBSESSED / BORRACHO) at the helm.
Numerous delays along the way sidelined production due to health issues, professional and personal commitments, and then the tragic murder of bassist Rev. Jim Forrester in December 2017, just days after completing the recording of the basic tracking.
“After seeing Jim claw and fight his way back after a major health scare and being in a coma last summer, only to be senselessly taken away from us all in this way, it really hit everyone like a ton of bricks”, says drummer / vocalist Chuck Dukeheart.
“The outpouring of love and support from everyone, and especially our friends and family in the Maryland Doom scene, was overwhelming. We can’t thank everyone enough for helping us, Jim’s wife Tina, and family to get through this terrible time.”
FOGHOUND emphasizes, “One thing that became apparent was that we all knew, and Jim said as much when he was laid up in the hospital last summer, was that he wouldn’t want us to stop. In his words – ‘We still have shit to do.'”
The band stated, “It was a very heavy, emotional time for us, to be back in the jamroom without Jim, but Adam really stepped up in a big way. His enthusiasm, preparedness, and love for the music really helped us get back to why we all play music. We were able to have fun again.”

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
After ten years of waiting for a new album, now it finally came and what we have in our hands an album that shows the result of dedicated work of German brains that still are loyal to their own sound, the trademark of RAMMSTEIN has been to upset and make an impact of the masses, to get people to wake up from their screens and ordinary lives and the main thing is to create a rush through the impenetrable walls of political power, that is something you've really succeeded with over the years. But because it’s all in German, it’s not entirely clear which is which and what is what, but have tried to translate some of it but is not so easy to figure all out, but hey, does anyone listens to RAMMSTEIN for the lyrics??
The new self-titled album follows the path that they worked out in the last decade, Teutonic dance metal in their native language German. The first single and the opening number "Deutschland" gassed the whole German government with the catchy tune about the Holocaust in World War II. The second tune and single "Radio" is a disco-metal tune about growing up in East Germany (It was a country that existed from 1949 to 1990 when the eastern portion of Germany was part of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War.) Choir hymns open up "Zeig Dich", mechanized riffs with a militant and Teutonic beats, big and powerful chorus. Euro-disco thrasher "Ausländer" with a kids choir in the chorus, a tune that easily could be a hit on the dance floor. Heavy riffs open up "Sex", a catchy number with a big electronic solo in the end. The experimental tune "Puppe" stands out a bit from the normal layout, reminds me of CAPTAIN BEEFHEART :) "Was Ich Liebe" half paced love piece until it slows down at the end of the album with the weepy ballad "Diamant" and "Weit Weg". "Tattoo" follows the old-school RAMMSTEIN template, heavy chugging riffs, hard drumming, angry and determined vocals. The album wraps up with the slow burner "Hallomann", builds up slowly to a powerful album closer. A really decent album release from these Pyroman's, catch them live this summer if you can.
Sum: RAMMSTEIN still can make some impact and upset peoples.

"Bye Bye Johnny" is one of the biggest hits by this Norwegian hard rock/aor band RETURN. The tune can be found on their second album "Attitudes" from 1988.
RETURN is from Stange, Hedmark, Norway. The band started in 1980, and was in its prime in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In this period they had several singles on the Norwegian hit charts and were among the bestselling bands in the country. In 1993 the band took a break, but came back in 2001 with a collection and some gigs. In 2005 they released a new studio album, and in 2008 they released another collection which also includes a DVD with shots from a concert in Hamar in 2007.
The band is still active and will do a few shows in Norway together with STAGE DOLLS.
SPIDERGAWD is a rock band formed in Trondheim, Norway in 2013. A band that easily would be classed as one of the finest from that country in the present time.
The founding fathers of the beast was Per Borten (CADILLAC & MOVING OOS) on guitars and vocals, Bent Sæther (MOTORPSYCHO, THE INTERNATIONAL TUSSLER SOCIETY & SUGARFOOT) on bass, Rolf Martin Snustad (HOPALONG KNUT, SMAVIRKELAGET & NORTHERN STAR GROOVE ALLIANCE) on saxophones and Kenneth Kapstad (MOTORPSYCHO, MONOLITHIC, GOD SEED & GÅTE) on drums. On June 1 2016 it was announced that Bent Sæther was leaving the band to have more time for his other projects. The band brought on Hallvard Gaardløs (ORANGO) as a fulltime bassist, who had been touring with the band in support of the "Spidergawd III" album.
They released their debut album "Spidergawd" on 31 January 2014, and their sophomore album "Spidergawd II" on 16 January 2015. The next album, appropriately called "Spidergawd III", was released 22 January 2016. The band has been touring Norway, Germany, The Netherlands and Italy on grounds familiar to MOTORPSYCHO, which are hungry for more Norwegian rock.

I wish we could celebrate our national day same as the Norweigan does, but no, we don't...sad.
So today we celebrate them and play Norway's finest stoner-punk band BOKASSA, a band that released a brand new music video for "Mouthbreathers Inc." yesterday, taken off of the new upcoming album "Crimson Riders" out June 21st.
BOKASSA plays some fuse stoner rock riffs and groove with the energy and volatility of punk and hardcore, into their own unique brand of stoner punk. Their 2017 debut album, "Divide & Conquer" was an excellent release.
"Crimson Riders" was recorded back home in Trondheim’s Brygga Studio, with production by the band together with Yngve Andersen (BLOOD COMMAND), mixing by Simon Jackman, and mastering by the legendary Brian ‘Big Bass’ Gardener.
BOKASSA enthuses, “We are very excited to release "Crimson Riders". Nine songs which revolve around everything from cults, religion, and border patrols to beer-drinking anti-heroes and immortal space pirates! Sonically, the album gives the listener everything from classic stoner-punk tracks, groovy desert songs, and high speed trash metal, to hardcore-oriented sing-a-longs. This time we also played around with both cellos and saxophone in the studio so expect a few curveballs here and there.”

Belgium’s LA MUERTE is an extreme, horrifying interesting, cruel and unexpected band that originally forming in 1983, splitting up in 1994 and sporadically releasing material without officially reforming until 2014, they’ve remained entrenched in the underground. Their music is a blend of noise rock, hardcore punk, dirty rock ‘n’ roll and whatever other unhinged heaviness has been gestating in the minds of the band since their split.

Monday, a new week is here again, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".
The new boys from London, UK, THE LUNAR EFFECT released their debut full-length album "Calm Before The Calm" on the 25th January 2019.
"Calm Before The Calm" is a modern take on soulful rock music firmly rooted in the seventies, bands like DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, and BLACK SABBATH comes in mind.
THE LUNAR EFFECT consists of the Jefford Brothers, Jon (guitar) & Dan (Drums) together with the brilliant bassman Brett Halsey and the excellent vocalist Josh Gosling.
The album has eight glorious tunes that spin over thirty-five heavy soulful minutes. And somehow THE LUNAR EFFECT sounds like they have been around for ages in this outfit, the sound, the rhythm section, tight and well-played melodies, tasty and deep guitars and a cruel vocal delivery make this sound like some kind of spell has been thrown over these guys. It's magic!. The album opens up with the powerful "Woman", deep and soulful blues piece that gives you as a listener goosebumps. "Stare At The Sun" is an uptempo steam rocker with a groove-laden beat to shakes up things. The slow and wonderful bassline signed Brett Halsey, that opens up "Call It In" before the distorted guitars slide in and give the tune some spice, the main thing is the neat bassline that fondles with the vocals, the tune is a beauty by itself. In the tune "Weaver" the vocalist Josh Gosling summons Jim Morrison with his hypnotic vocals and gives the tune a THE DOORS feeling, the same thing goes with the tune "Filterdog" where the 60's psychedelic gently moves through the air. The album closer and the title track "Calm Before The Calm" is a breathless and moody blues piece that closes this off with big star in my book. This is an excellent album debut that offers great psych-flavored heavy rock that is always engaging and captivating that I highly recommend.

"Blue Jean Blues" is a tune taken from the fourth studio album "Fandango!" by the American blues-rock band ZZ TOP, released in 1975. Half the tracks are selections from live shows, the rest are new songs from the studio. A remastered and expanded edition of this album was released on February 28, 2006.
A sturdy American blues-rock trio from Texas, ZZ Top specialized in down-and-dirty blues-rock during the '70s, then scored colorful MTV hits during the 1980s. Formed in Houston in 1970 by Billy Gibbons (guitar), Dusty Hill (bass), and Frank Beard (drums), the trio came from a pair of rival bands the Moving Sidewalks (Gibbons) and American Blues (Hill and Beard). Their first two albums reflected the strong blues roots and Texas humor of the band. Their third album (Tres Hombres) gained them national attention with the hit "La Grange," a signature riff tune to this day, based on John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillen." Their success continued unabated throughout the '70s, culminating with the year-and-a-half-long Worldwide Texas Tour.
"Blue Jean Blues" was also released as a B-side on the single "Tush".
