Valley Of The Sun - Old Gods

New week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

VALLEY OF THE SUN is a four-piece desert-rock band out of Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in 2010, "Old Gods" is their third release and catches our ears today. VALLEY OF THE SUN has frequently been here on Tune Of The Day, a rock band that I do really like, it's like a medium rare steak, taste good and sounds excellent.

"Old Gods" offers a broad pallet of righteous riffs and heavy sound mixed with sensitive and soulful tones. Already from the first opening title track, the sensitive and layback guitar play, where the fingers almost caress the strings before the drums roll in, the heavy guitar and the almost grungy vocals give the tune a bit of energy. "All We Are" is another grunge piece, great guitar sling, hefty drumming, and a catchy chorus. Acoustic guitar opens up the lovely mellow instrumental piece "Gaia Creates". Righteous riff kicks on the energic and catchy tune "Dim Visions". Then it's time for a little break on the album with an instrumental ritualistic drum tune "Shiva Destroys" that follows up with furious force in the short flash of "Fire Walker". "Into The Abyss" is a slower, light psychedelic piece that flows like an eagle over the desert. "Faith Is For Suckers" follows the grunge template. "Buddha Transcends" is another short break on the album, atmospheric guitars that you can lose your mind awhile before the guitars speed up a bit in the heavy and catchy piece "Means The Same". The album closes up with "Dreams Of Sand", soft start that burst up for a short while, great riffing, fat bassline along with excellent and superb vocals. The only bad thing is the fade out in the end. The production is great along with all the distorted sounds and I will enjoy this for a great amount of time. Well done lads.

Sum: "Old Gods" is an exciting release.

Ryan Ferrier-Guitar/Vocals
Aaron Boyer-Drums
Chris Sweeney-Bass
Keys Josh Pilot-Guitar

Valley Of The Sun - The Hunt

"Volume Rock", Of all the words in the English language that could be drawn upon to illustrate the sheer sound and substance of Cincinnati’s VALLEY OF THE SUN, you’d be hard pressed to find two better. Picking up directly where they left off on last year’s Electric Talons Of The Thunderhawk, the Queen City rockers are back in 2016 with a brand new album on Sweden’s formidable Fuzzorama Records.

Volume Rock is the culmination of the band’s determination and ability to not only write and record great rock songs, but also their drive and ambition to become one of the best bands to emerge from the underground. As The Obelisk proclaimed as early as 2011, “There’s no question that VALLEY OF THE SUN are placing themselves at the forefront of the new generation of American heavy rock.”

Riff after righteous riff is thrown from the pulpit with the fury of fire and brimstone, so come out to the Rock and Roll Revival , bring your offering and prepare to be anointed!

Today's tune "The Hunt" is taken form the bands latest release "Volume Rock", released April 29.

Valley of the Sun - Centaur Rodeo

New week and it's time to introduce "Record Of The Week", this week we fly to the Valley Of The Sun, Cincinnati, Ohio were we find the heavy blues-metal band with their latest record "Electric Talons of the Thunderhawk".

There is a smoldering hotbed of Rock and Roll in the most unlikely of places; Ohio. Some time ago, the Devil came to sew his seed throughout the state leaving every city with it’s own High Priests of Hellish Riffs. The congregation of Cincinnati’s Church of Rock and Roll is watched over by Valley of the Sun, and a well tended flock they are.

Riff after righteous riff is thrown from the pulpit with the fury of fire and brimstone, so come out to the Rock and Roll Revival , bring your offering and prepare to be anointed!

Electric Talons of the Thunderhawk (Electric Talons) is the first full-length release from the band and follows on the heels of two very excellent EPs, "Twothousandten" and "The Sayings of the Seers". Electric Talons follows up right where "Sayings of the Seers" left off with a composition of dynamic driving riffs and rhythms.

Valley Of The Sun consist of 3 gentleman where the lead guitarist and vocals Ryan Ferrier leads the trio with his role as front man. Mr Ferrier does an excellent part to cobble together well defined riffs and manages his vocal efforts brilliantly. His partners Ryan McAllister on the bass and Aaron Boyer on drums applies their skills to the band perfectly. With a great energy and smoothness do they team up to make the tunes sound great and deliver a great enjoyness to the listner.

If you enjoy heavy blues with shattering rhythms and soulful melodies, then this is something for you.

Todays tune "Centaur Rodeo" is taken from the "Record Of The Week", enjoy!

Valley of the Sun - Heart's Aflame

As track number two on the disc I had these Electric Talons from Cincinnati, a band that I really had to sneak with over a year, not written a single line or even mention anything, my little precious :), but from now on it will change, so more will come in the future. .

There is a smoldering hotbed of Rock and Roll in the most unlikely of places, Cincinnati in Ohio we fin the fellows in Valley of the Sun that really knocked me with their EP "The Sayings of the Seers".

With smart and melodic righteous riff grabs you in the balls and shakes you like an apple tree, an superb début EP indeed. The Vocals are dusty with a touch of grunge.

Vally Of The Sun consists of:

Ryan McAllister-Bass
Ryan Ferrier-Guitar/Vocals
Aaron Boyer-Drums

Todays tune "Heart's Aflame" is taken from their debut EP "The Sayings of the Seers"
