Einstürzende Neubauten - Alles In Allem

After more than 12 years, EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN released thier long-awaited new studio album "Alles In Allem" translated as 'All in All'. The album marks the quintessence of the band’s output, opening yet another unexpected door in 40 years of ongoing sound research bya very experimental group of musicians around Blixa Bargeld.

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, ("Collapsing New Builds") is a German experimental music group, originally formed in West Berlin in 1980. The group is currently composed of founder members Blixa Bargeld (lead vocals; guitar; keyboard) and N.U. Unruh (custom-made instruments; percussion; vocals), long-time contributor Alexander Hacke (bass; vocals), plus Jochen Arbeit (guitar; vocals), and Rudolf Moser (custom-built instruments; percussion; vocals), who both joined the line-up in 1997.

One of their trademarks is the use of custom-built instruments, predominantly made out of scrap metal and building tools, and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Their early albums were unremittingly harsh, with Bargeld's vocals shouted and screamed above a din of banging and scraping metal percussion. Subsequent recordings found the group's sound growing somewhat more conventional, yet still containing many unorthodox elements.

This band, like nearly no other, has managed to create a musical cosmos. Check out the title tune from the bands latest release, presents an incomparable band that defies categorization to create a genre all its own.

Today's tune "Alles In Allem" it the title tune from EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTENs most compulsively lisenable album to date, enjoy!

Dorre - Satisfying Sadistic Urges

"Fall River" is a full-length debut by the Belgian Psych/Progressive/Doom/Noise band DORRE. An album that took a two year journey of writing, rewriting, sound-searching, recording and collaborating with profoundly talented artists and partners. The album is a dark and murky sensory undertaking, wandering through the alluring town of "Fall River".

DORRE was born at the Rock Café in Leuven when Adriaan De Raymaeker (guitar) and Wolf Overloop (drums) decided to head up to the attic that PEKTOP (Adriaan’s former band) used to rehearse. Picking up a guitar and settling behind the drums respectively, the noise began to fill the room. Deep, dark, heavy riffs were made and quite possibly enjoyed by several blocks of flats and houses around the building. No big plans were made. One show every year, free beer, towers of cabs and amps, guest musicians joining in the jam.

After several years of this continued tradition, DORRE was asked to play more shows. Obligingly, several small stages around Leuven were played and Erik Heyns (guitar) joined the steady line-up. Deciding that the time had come to widen the scope of DORRE, a more serious approach was taken to write long pieces of music that incorporated every aspect of each musician. A cohesion of doom, noise, psychedelic rock, blues and stoner was organically formed between the two guitars and the drums. In 2015 DORRE played a select set of shows as a build-up towards an EP release in December. The EP was made and released following a first stint outside of the borders, touring throughout England and Scotland in January of 2016 and sharing the stage with many great bands.
Mid-2016, a longtime friend and sound guy Andrew Hockley joined the line-up, taking up bass duties for the band. In 2019 the full-length album "Fall River" saw the daylight.

A beautiful red/black version on vinyl, limited to 100 albums. Get it while you can.

Today's tune "Satisfying Sadistic Urges" is taken from "Fall River", just listen to this amazing tune, wait for the middle part, picking guitars give you goose bumps, enjoy!

My Diligence - Resentful

MY DILIGENCE is a power trio based in Brussels. The group tries to distill a rock relentless, intense, unique sound. 2 guitars, an amp wall and a frenzied drums are the trademark of the band.

After the highly successful release of the first EP, "Who killed the driver", confirming the talent of writing and the great desire that galvanizes the band, in 2015 they put on an unstoppable eponymous album. Thanks to this LP, the years 2015 and 2016 saw the band perform all over Belgium but also in France, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The Festival de Dour and the Brussels Summer Festival, among others, fell under the charm.

The group will release its second album "Sun Rose" on January 30, 2019 at Botanique in Brussels. Discreet for months, the trio obeys no rules and continues its musical journey far from expectations or shackles in which Cédric, François and Gabriel could feel cramped. A personal music that is constantly challenged and that proves the audacity and inventiveness of a group that decides above all to indulge and takes you to new musical horizons.

Vocals, Guitar + Bass: Cédric Fontaine
Guitar + Bass: Francois Peeters
Drums: Gabriel Marlier

Today's tune "Resentful", taken from the new album "Sun Rose", enjoy!

Bardo Pond - Tommy Gun Angel

Sunday, time for a classic.

We continue in the prickly, noisy, psychedelic and generally messed up music. That messy music can have such an impact on the human body is right peerless, good in cleansing of the mess that have been stuck there for some time.

So for some Sunday music I think the American psychedelic rock band BARDO POND will suit fine. There music is a messy mix of space rock, acid rock, post-rock, shoegazing, noise and psychedelic rock, droning guitars, thick distortion, feedback, reverb, and washes of white noise.

BARDO POND was formed in 1991 and contains of the current members are Michael Gibbons (guitar), John Gibbons (guitar), Isobel Sollenberger (flute and vocals), Clint Takeda (bass guitar) and Jason Kourkounis (drums). Some BARDO POND album titles have been derived from the names of esoteric psychedelic substances. Their sound has been likened to PINK FLOYD, SPACEMEN 3 and MY BLOODY VALENTINE amongst others.

Today's tune "Tommy Gun Angel" is taken from the third album "Lapsed". It was released on October 21, 1997 on Matador Records. "Tommy Gun Angel" as written by and John Gibbons Joe Culver.

Here they perform it live at ATP Iceland 3rd July 2015

Zu - Goodnight, Civilization

Stockholm during the terrorist attack fills newspaper headlines today. Four dead after lorry crashes into crowds of people in Stockholm and serval wounded. Me and the rest of Sweden are completely shocked at what has happened. That little Sweden, so peacefully and calmly, basically never happens anything, is subject to something as this is almost indescribable. Mourning for those who lose life for a maniac's action.

What to play on a day like this, well as this is a messy world right now so the Italian instrumental experimental music band ZU from Rome will suit fine with the tune "Goodnight, Civilization".

Hailing from Ostia, a town near Rome, ZU are an atypical trio made of drums, electric bass, baritone saxophone and electronics. Formed in Rome in 1997, they began as composers and players for theatre performances. The band is composed of three members: Luca Mai on baritone saxophone, Massimo Pupillo on bass and Tomas Järmyr on drums. ZU have released fourteen albums, including two live album and two splits, and played in festivals in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

In the running for the title of 'the world's hardest working band', ZU have performed over 2000 shows throughout Europe, US, Canada, Asia, Russia, Mexico and even Africa, touring with the likes of Mike Patton (as the Zu/Patton quartet), sharing the stage with FAITH NO MORE, FANTôMAS, THE MELVINS, LIGHTNING BOLT, SONIC YOUTH, THE EX, etc.. They have also collaborated with a vast number of musicians including Mike Patton, THE MELVINS, DÄLEK, Jim O' Rourke, FM EINHEIT (EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN), Peter Brötzmann, Eugene S. Robinson (OXBOW), Steve MacKay (THE STOOGES), THE EX, Thurston Moore, Stephen O Malley, Damo Suzuki (CAN), Mats Gustafsson, NoMeansNo, Joe Lally (FUGAZI).

Although difficult to define, ZUs style could be characterised as a fusion of math rock, heavy metal and noise rock. The music is instrumental, and features virtuosic drumming, powerful bass and distorted saxophone.

One constant element in ZUs music is collaboration, and many of the band's albums are billed as collaborations with a guest musician (such as Mike Patton, Buzz Osbourne, Mats Gustafsson and Nobukazu Takemura). Often, a collaborator will join them at live performances as well. Members of the band also collaborate with other musical projects, most of which exist only as live performances.

The band are members of the Italian folk-jazz group ARDECORE.

Enjoy todays tune!

Okkultokrati - Hidden Future

One Friday that this feels a bit messy in general, in big need of some heretic sound noise to welcome the long awaited casual weekend, i'm free!! God, that's so nice, even though it is pretty booked with various activities and other things that just have to be done, but still, happy days.

So for the Friday music, well the Norwegian sludge/noise gang OKKULTOKRATI released an interesting record last year "Raspberry Dawn" where the heretic rock with the noisy sludge approach is at it's top. Classic ‘70s riffing, snotty punk, and brash old-school metal are inventively mixed with pulses and spikes of darkwave and ice cold, psychedelic repetition. Wonderful mix to kick of a Friday like this, huh!

Raspberry Dawn will be released on all formats via Southern Lord on September 23rd.

Today's tune "Hidden Future" taken from the latest album "Raspberry Dawn" (2016) on Southern Lord Recordings.

Lord Mantis - Possession Prayer

Chicago, Illinois nihilistic doom/noise metal band LORD MANTIS, over the years, have been making a name for themselves within the underground metal scene and slowly being recognized as one of Chicago’s most noteworthy metal bands alongside such bands as Indian, Nachtmystium, The Atlas Moth, Yakuza etc. Their last album, “Pervertor” (which was released by Candlelight Records in 2012) would bring LORD MANTIS new levels of recognition and awareness to a wider audience which they build upon following their “Spawning The Nephilim” debut (which was released by Seventh Rule in 2009 respectively). With “Pervertor”, LORD MANTIS excelled beyond their debut album and even already having a reputation of putting on quite the devastating live show likewise.

With “Death Mask”, LORD MANTIS (who feature members who are involved and active in notable bands as Indian, Avichi, and Abigail Williams, and feature members who were once part of Nachtmystium at one point and being in-and-out of that band on several occasions) have made their most triumphant and glorious album to date. The masterpiece they’ve been threatening to make since inception.

Overall “Death Mask” (which also features guest appearances from the band’s honorary members, namely guest vocals courtesy of Indian’s Dylan O’Toole on the track “Negative Birth” and synth work from Sanford Parker, who also recorded and mixed “Death Mask” at the famed Electrical Audio and Soma studios in Chicago) is a much darker, doomier, and more experimental offering than anything the band have previously done. A haunting and despondent, yet punishing and violent audial soundtrack to depravity, despair, and personal suffering, “Death Mask” will bring recognition to LORD MANTIS even more within doom/black/noise metal circles and will bring new found recognition to the band as one of the more distinct and most twisted and demented underground metal bands from America today.

Today's tune "Possession Prayer" is taken from "Death Mask", enjoy!

VAILS - Galactic Triceratops

The Sludge/Noise/Punk duo VAILS from Swansea, Wales, released their debut EP "Galactic Triceratops" pretty recently, March 19th 2015 to be more exact. That there is something with the duo's that appeals to me is nothing new, I like that only with two people can get so much with so little. With "Galactic Triceratops" do VAILS placing the cabinet in front of the door and creates a hard and outlandish EP where the beast is forcing it self out of the amplifier and really messing up the life existence.

VAILS consisting of Bassist Owen Street and drummer Mathew Ham.

"Galactic Triceratops" was recorded by Joe Garcia (OM, TEMPLES FESTIVAL) and mastered by Nick Zampiello (CONVERGE, ISIS)

With a hard-riffing melodic and noisy sludge and punkish groove have this duo created a well made EP that you should get, it's available to buy here, give it a chance and downloaded for Name Your Price from their Bandcamp page. I wish they release this on Vinyl.

Todays tune "Galactic Triceratops" is the title track from the new EP, enjoy!
