German organ rock is not so common these days, but VVLVAs debut album "Path Of Virtue" is an excellent piece of history on the gold vinyl plastic.
The German quintet VVLVA (post ORCUS CHYLDE) with a sound that goes straight back to the late 60s/early 70s hard rock, revives 1970s heavy-psychedelic krautrock in an impressive way. The blend of epic, spherical Hammond organ passages, hard driven guitar riffs/solos and distinctive vocals provides an agile and multifaceted listening experience. A rolling wall of fuzz complete with killer emotional vocals and subtle organ sections.

GREAT RIFT is a four headed heavy/psych rockband, born 2016 in Vienna, Austria. In 2017 the band recorded their debut EP "Voodoowoodland", released on "Electric Fire Records“. With a unique blend of psychedelic folk and doom rock of the early 70’s, like a mix between the classic JEFFERSON AIRPLANE and the more modern THE DEVILs BLOOD. SPIRAL SKIES hails from Stockholm and was formed in 2014.

The band consists of amazingly talent vocalist Frida, a voice like that gives goosebumps as soon as she opens her mouth. Along with Jonas and Dan on the guitars, Daniel on drums and Eric on bass.
"Blues For A Dying Planet" opens up with an organ-driven intro with "Black Hole Waltz" until the rocker "Awakening" kicks in, where we get a classic NWOBHM sound, twin guitars, catchy melody. The powerful "Dark Side Of The Cross"has a cool beat with great riffing and an amazing vocal. "The Wizard’s Ball" has a little slower pace in it's powerful meaning, charming and beautiful vocals along with great playing. Psychedelic and classic rock is the main theme in "Danse Macabre". "Labyrinth Of The Mind", is a rocker with some doomish riffing influenced by SABBATH. "Shattered Hopes" is a psychedelic folkish rocker that gives another side of Frida's singing. "Left Is Right And Right Is Left Behind" is another rocker with psychedelic folk elements in both the melody and vocals, heavy riffing with a neatly done solo. The album ends with the really stunning "The Prisoner", hypnotic tune with seducing vocals, progressive riffing and melody that grabs your soul and gives you an eargasm, wonderful!
The album sounds really good, excellent produced, where all the pieces fall on the right places, well-done guys. Already looking forward to the next release, as far as I know, there is a new single in the pipeline. The Artwork for "In Blues For A Dying Planet" is made by the illustrator Vadim Karasyov.

Eugene Booker McDaniels (February 12, 1935 – July 29, 2011) was an African-American singer and songwriter. He had his greatest recording success in the early 1960s, and had continued success as a songwriter with songs including "Compared to What" and Roberta Flack's "Feel Like Makin' Love".

The cover photograph of Outlaw depicted a multiracial group of armed urban guerrillas, an explicit statement that seemed to align him more closely with the rage of Amiri Baraka and the Last Poets than with the gentler black protest music of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On and Curtis Mayfield's Back to the World.

MÅNESKJOLD hails from the concrete of Copenhagen and the woods of North Sealand. The band was envisioned by frontman Rasmus Miehe Soerensen when he saw the word “Måneskjold” carved into an old oak tree. Or was it maybe graffiti on someone’s mailbox? Anyhow, the name seemed ideal for a sort of retro-futuristic spacepunk outfit. Thus, Måneskjold was created.

The Italian MESSA plays an evoking doom metal with a dark jazz twist. Deliciously haunting female vocals, rhodes piano and 70’s fuzz guitars combine to conjure a sound that is all of their own. It's like a mix between a doomy JEX THOTH with BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE atmosphere, topped with URFAUST and John Coltrane, interesting, hell yeah.
The band has moved from the droning occult doom of their first LP "Belfry" to a new, darker and more atmospheric approach clearly showcased in their new record "Feast for Water", a concept album centered on the introspective, symbolic and ritual features of the liquid element.
The Italian 4-piece band MESSA emerged on the first day of 2014. The extreme diversity of their musical background immediately proved to be essential in the construction of the band’s sound: Prog, Black Metal, Punk, Dark Ambient, jazz, Blues and Doom. all those influences have been channeled into a sonic cauldron that the band defines “Scarlet Doom”

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".
"Verkligheten" (Swedish for "Reality"), SOILWORKs 11th album, released January 11, 2019. It is the first album to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard as the replacement of longtime member Dirk Verbeuren. The album's release also marks the longest gap between SOILWORK studio albums to date, with their previous album, "The Ride Majestic", having been released nearly three and a half years earlier.
That SOILWORK is known for is well crafted tunes and with the latest release "Verkligheten" they have once again showed how to make great tunes that is easy to grasp even though there is a complexity in their creation and their way to blend aggression and grandeur. It's very easy to shake your legs to their music, it's very melodic, hard and extremely well played with a great swing and punch that just tickling the ear canals with lovely sounds.
The album opens up with the title tune "Verkligheten", a beautiful instrumental intro before the album second tune "Arrival" explodes with freaking guitar riffs signed David Andersson and Sylvain Coudret, mean bass licks by Taylor Nordberg, thunderous blast beats by Bastian Thusgaard, along with a superb harsh and soft vocals by the main man Björn Strid. "Full Moon Shoals", is a real beauty, melodic, harsh and very progressive. "The Nurturing Glance" opens up with a neatly intro before it erupts into a heavy melodic mayhem, catchy with a great swing. "When The Universe Spoke" and "Needles and Kin" (featuring Tomi Joutsen from AMORPHIS) are two highlights, both with deadly blastbeats with a superb riffing and hooks to die for. The electromagnet beauty "Stålfågel"(featuring Alissa White-Gluz ARCH ENEMY) is another killer tune with big catchy choruses that force you to squeeze the volume even more. Screamadelic tunes like "Bleeder Despoiler" and "The Wolves Are Back in Town" are some neat tunes. "The Ageless Whisper" have some catchy hooks, riffing and magic middle play. The half paced tune "You Aquiver" (featuring Dave Sheldon) with it's immensely hummable hooks ends this strong album, nice to see that you guys are back and that it sounds so good after 20 years, well done.
Sum: This is a top-notch melodic death metal album and a superb way to start the new year.

DARE are a rock band from Oldham, England, fronted by THIN LIZZY keyboard player Darren Wharton. They formed in 1985 and have released ten albums to date, nine studio and one live. An eleventh album will be released in 2019.

It was recorded in Los Angeles at singer, Joni Mitchell's private studio in Beverly Hills. DELAIN is a Dutch symphonic metal band formed in 2002 by former WITHIN TEMPTATION keyboardist Martijn Westerholt, and Charlotte Wessels. The name of the band comes from the Kingdom of Delain in Stephen King's novel, The Eyes of the Dragon.
The band announced a new EP titled "Hunter's Moon" on December 13, 2018. The EP will be released on February 22, 2019. It is the first album to feature Joey de Boer on drums.

JINJER is a Ukrainian female fronted band which plays a mixture of progressive metalcore and groove metal, with some inlays of funk, reggae and jazz, though on their second LP the band shifted a bit to death metal of the European school.
JINJER was formed in 2010 when Tatiana Shmailyuk joined the guys as a vocalist. In 2013, the band were acknowledged as the best metal band of the year in Ukraine.
JINJER have been working frantically on a mind-blowing soundscape only they can do justice for and one that shatters all comparisons. Their third album "King of Everything" catapulted this Ukrainian juggernaut into the collective consciousness of the Metal universe and their new EP "Micro" undoubtedly cements itself as another milestone in the history of JINJER. Baltimore, Maryland, death metal outfit MISERY INDEX has released two tunes from their upcoming album is titled "Rituals of Power" and will hit streets on March 8 through Season of Mist.
The album was recorded last year with producer and engineer Erik Rutan (MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE) and subsequently mixed by Will Putney (PIG DESTROYER, COUNTERPARTS).
MISERY INDEX has announced new European dates together with WORMROT and TRUTH CORRODED in the spring of 2019. The "Rituals Of Power: Phase 1" tour sees the band traveling through eight countries with a final curtain at the Turock in Essen, Germany before the festival season begins.

Monday, time to introduce this years first "Record Of The Week"
German Death Metal legends CHAPEL OF DISEASE released their 3rd full length album "…And As We Have Seen The Storm", We Have Embraced The Eye” released the 23rd of November 2018.
"…And As We Have Seen The Storm, We Have Embraced The Eye" is a 6 track of electrifying death with a great blend of styles and many unexpected turns that makes this a 47 minutes amazing musical experience.
You will get all from melodic and heavy part, amazing guitar works, guttural vocals, death metal, black metal rock, even Mark Knopfler will play a solo for you, well the last one is not true, but it sounds like him (: It's a very creative album.
The album opens up with a impressing tune "Void Of Words", guitar picking, massive chaotic drumming, wonderful melody, guttural vocals along with amazing melodic guitar work and a neatly guitar ending aka Mark Knopfler and the tune ends beautifully and continues onto the next "Oblivious / Obnoxious / Defiant" with a more sharper layout, stylish loops with cleaver solos in a tune that builds up along the way, the melodic and monotone guitar sling in the end gives me goose bumps. In "Song of the Gods" that starts with a long guitar flicker intro before a enthralling guitar sling takes over and begins the tune, the sling lives true the tune that really sounds great. The forth tune "Null" is one of the longest track on the album, over 9 minutes of chugs, hard riffing, violent drumming and a harsh vocal with a very melodic riffing and the bluesy mid piece that comes from nowhere and I just love it. "1.000 Different Paths" starts of as a doomy goth piece, very melodic and with a vocal that reminds of Jaz Coleman. Half way thru the tune changes shapes to an instrumental love pit. The album ends with "The Sound Of Shallow Grey", the second long running tune on the album, with it's 9 plus minutes forces true on all fronts, melodic and riffy.
"…And As We Have Seen The Storm, We Have Embraced The Eye" is an excellent album that would have been placed high on the years best off list if it had come to my knowledge earlier, got this on my lap in the middle of December.
Sum: A fantastic surprise that you can't be without when you give it a turn.
