Saturday and you won‘t find Farfisa organs, amps or fuzz pedals in the tidy garages of respectable Viennese mansion blocks (that‘s where the keep their Mercs), and there‘s definitely no surfing in Graz. The spiritual home of garage punk this clearly isn‘t, and yet there is a band that has set out to turn their Austrian hometowns into unlikely breeding grounds for undomesticated, irrepressible teenage noise.

"Cyberfunk!" is the 4th full length studio album by the Austrian 3-piece MOTHERS CAKE.
Founded 2008, MOTHERS CAKE first album "Creation's Finest" caused a fuzz in the scene in October 2012.
"Off The Beaten Track" was produced and published in 2014 and made 2nd place in the best album ranking of stonerrock.eu.
In Fall 2014 MOTHERS CAKE supported british Proggers ANATHEMA and Glenn Hughes' new project CALIFORNIA BREED, playing 50 shows in 66 days. visiting 20 countries. In 2015 came "Love The Filth" followed up by "No Rhyme No Reason" 2017, a live album "Live At Bergisel" 2018 and now "Cyberfunk!" 2020.

THE HEAVY MINDS are a Garage-Psych band based in Upper Austria. Even though the idea of genre-boundaries is quite meaningless for the band themselves, it would probably be most appropriate to claim that the boys are influenced by a huge musical melting pot of sounds of the late 60's 'n 70's, Garage/Prog/Krautrock, Heavy Psych, Lo-Fi, Neo-Psychedelia and all sorts of underground rawness.
All of their material was recorded at Chris' small homestudio, mixed by Marco Kleebauer (LEYYA, KARMA ART, ...) and mastered by Alpha Mastering. Furthermore and from now on the group will be joined live by Benedikt Brands (MY FRIEND PETER, HIGH BRIAN,...) on bass and synths.
One of the most significant scenes in the video was shot at the "Kometor", which is an art project that combines abstract artistry with galactic imagery and is one of the highlights of Peuerbach. The small town, located in Upper Austria, is also the bands hometown.

ANOMALIE is an Austrian Atmospheric Black Metal band founded by mastermind Marrok (live-HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY) in 2011.
Post Atmospheric Blackened Soundscapes is the main thing for this band. Heavy, well played with chanting surroundings that grabs you already on the first spinn, really enjoyable, check it out.

DOWN WITH THE GYPSIES is a young five-piece psych/folk/prog band with members from Poland, Germany, Austria & Spain. The band was formed late 2015 and is based in Karlsruhe, Germany.
The band was formed by singer & guitarist Gaba Wierzbicka and drummer Tom Schneckenhaus. The first demo tape was recorded in April, just before Melina Tzimou joined the band on guitar. After the show at PSYKA FESTIVAL, Karlsruhe in October 2016, Maik left the band and Mitja Besen took over on bass. As there were a lot of changes in their line-up, the band took a break from playing live and turned it into a creative process of songwriting and a period of finding their own sound.
In March 2017 they recorded their debut LP “Kassiopeia” at KAPU Studio in Linz, Austria. Recorded & mixed by Sabina Sloth, Mastered by Niels Reckziegel. It was self-released in July 2017. In August and September this year the band toured Europe for the first time. They signed with STONEFREE RECORDS, who released their debut “Kassiopeia” in a new outfit in early 2018. Currently, the band is working on new songs and tour dates for 2019.

GREAT RIFT is a four headed heavy/psych rockband, born 2016 in Vienna, Austria. In 2017 the band recorded their debut EP "Voodoowoodland", released on "Electric Fire Records“. In June 2018 their first full length album "Vesta" will be out via "Electric Fire Records" with a vinyl co-release on "StoneFree Records".
The sound of GREAT RIFT is modern and fresh, but strongly reminiscent of the heavy blues, hard- and psychedelic rock of the 70s, coupled with distinctive, unique vocals. And hell yeah, this sounds really good.

"Arson" follows the line of heartbreaking emotion, melancholy sadness, and depressing pain. But this is somehow not a "cut your arms" kinda music, even if the lyrics are very depressing, big losses in life, suicide, and death, the music is something else, yes it's dark, melodic and black, but they manage to keep me engaged with an amazing flow in their music, which is a mix of blackened post metal brilliance. The album is 71 mins long, spread over 8 tunes, almost overkill, but it is a well-crafted piece that needs some attention.
The album opens up with "Fire, Walk With Me", a melodic masterpiece, continues with the dreamy and creepy "The Graves We’ve Dug". "You Are The Scars" is a scary and triumphant piece. The melancholia and powerful beauty in "Heroin Waltz" where the classical guitar is played by Bernth Brodträger. "Tomb Omnia" with its blackened guitars, growling vocals and hard-hitting drumming makes you feel good. "Stillborn" is a slower piece with a great atmosphere, post-metal fusion. "Voidgazer" have a little blackened folkish touch. The album closes up in a magnificent way with a cover of GRAVEYARD LOVERS "Manifesto", with guest vocals by Silvi Bogojevic that really gives a new life to the tune.
"Arson" was released February 16, 2018, and the amazing cover artwork is made by Striga.

Austria's HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY will release their new album ”Arson", on February 16th via AOP Records. The band has released a video for "Heroin Waltz", see it below.
Founded in 2011 in Vienna, Austria, the aim of HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY has always been to create a unique mixture of melancholy and aggression, madness and meaning, wrapped in alternately manic / mellow songs that bridged black metal and atmospheric post-rock. The band was initially begun as a studio project by erstwhile Bifröst member M. S. joined by vocalist / lyricist J. J., and has recently been expanded to a live lineup. With that lineup secured, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY then embarked upon successful European tours with the likes of A FOREST OF STARS, ELLENDE, FÄULNIS, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT and AGRYPNIE among others, encompassing over 25 countries to date. 2016 was a really successful year for HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY. Their 3rd album “III - Trauma” got great acclaim from critics and audiences and a nominee for the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award”. The recording process of the 4th album “Arson” is fi nished. It is the first time with a studio drummer on a record and no one else could fi t better into the line-up than Kerim “Krimh” Lechner who handles the drums behind SEPTICFLESH and played live with BEHEMOTH. The new album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Fellner.

"This song is not primarily about heroin or doing drugs inherently, but also about the aspiration to find warmth in life and the search for something that makes you feel complete. I think it is almost impossible to find this warmness and equanimity, as life is nothing but a continuous downward spiral. The longing is willing to abate after a few years, but the sadness will last forever." - J.J. (vocals)
Upcoming European tour dates for the spring of 2018. The band will be supporting Dutch dark-rock band DOOL and the three week excursion will take place March 2nd through March 18th, with performances in eight different countries.

After 3 weeks on the road with the lads in Hong Faux, I can tell that I still feel a bit thrashed but happy that I was able to accomplish it, this was the second time I'm out with the guys and I had really a great time with loads of Laughs and many new friends. The Danish team that we teamed up with was really a well oiled machine and great to work with and most of the time the work went so smoothly that you sometimes wondered where the day vanished.
The tour took us true the hole Germany with a detour to Austria and Switzerland. In other words, I have visited a lot of amazing places, seen a lot of strange and odd things, eating things that I can not even pronounce.
In Germany did I have a lot of fun or at least the lads had it, especially with my German, it really sucks big time, as for an example, when a street have a name with the German "ß", i read it as a B :) , or when I thought our hotel was on "Einbahnstraße" which really means that it's a One-Way Street. Haha, I have been serving alot of Humor, but also received plenty :)
