HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER is an American folk music band, originating from Durham, North Carolina, led by MC Taylor (born September 9, 1975).
The band was formed by Mike (MC) Taylor and Scott Hirsch in 2007. The band's early recordings were released through Taylor's own recording label, "Heaven & Earth Magic Recording Company."
The band's debut album, "Country Hai East Cotton", was released in 2009 via Taylor's label in a limited edition of 500. This was followed by their international debut album, "Bad Debt", in 2010, released via Black Maps. The band's third album, "Poor Moon", was released in 2012 via North Carolina-based "Paradise Of Bachelors", and received positive reviews. The band's fourth album, "Haw", was released on April 2, 2013. The journey continues with serval released and in 2021 it was time for the eleventh album "Quietly Blowing It" released on Merge. Their 2019 album "Terms Of Surrender" received a nomination for Best Americana Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
A husband and a wife from Transylvania County, North Carolina that meander through heavy metal, doom, goth rock and retro-ized horror punk in all its gritty glory: BLOODY HAMMERS. Since their formation in 2010, vocalist/guitarist/bassist Anders Manga and organist/pianist Devallia create fascinating tunes full of horror and creepy melodies, ready to haunt the listeners right away.
"Songs Of Unspeakable Terror" – explores territory yet uncharted by the band: retro-ized horror punk in all its gritty glory. This beastly follow-up to the band’s standout 2019 full-length "The Summoning" shouldn’t be confused as an all new direction for the band, however. These songs are a pandemic lockdown labor of love, a temporary foray into the unknown, while still remaining true to the BLOODY HAMMERS trademark. At the start of 2020, having just released a new album under his darkwave solo project, vocalist/guitarist/bassist Anders Manga was about to head out on tour when COVID-19 hit.
Soon locked in their house under the country’s strict stay-at-home orders, Manga and his bride and bandmate, organist/pianist Devallia, spent time jamming in their basement and revisiting some of their classic punk favorites from up north – THE MISFITS, PLASMATICS, THE CRAMPS and VOLUPTUOUS HORROR of Karen Black, to name a few. Holed up and barred from the uncertainty of the world, BLOODY HAMMERS churned out 11 new raw-power tracks inspired by these greats, and now, they’re unearthed… from the grave!

North Carolina’s COSMIC REAPER comes crashing through the speakers with their self-titled debut album. Dripping with a classic 70’s attitude, mixing sci-fi-oriented lyrics, brief but satisfying moments of prog exploration, all while keeping one foot firmly planted in modern doom, you start to get an idea of the interstellar journey that awaits.
In its infancy, bass player Garrett Garlington and guitar player Dillon Prentice, together in Garrett’s kitchen, mixed heavy and fuzzy harmonies with crushing riffs. Not long after, the duo added Thad Collis. His ethereal vocals and impassioned guitar harmonies are what built the band’s foundation. Jeremy Grobsmith, a Colorado Springs metal veteran (THE GREAT REDNECK HOPE, MATTERHORN, and WORRY) had recently moved to The Queen City, befriended the guys, and was quickly asked to join. His hard-hitting and eclectic drum style rounded out the COSMIC REAPER sound and the band was born.
Following a year of practice and fine-tuning their sound, COSMIC REAPER made their live debut in July of 2019. In September of that same year, they recorded the "Demon Dance" EP at Greensboro’s recording studio The Parliament House, alongside owner and maverick Jacob Beeson. Noteworthy exposure from doom metal-focused podcasts and web-zines helped in the success of their first offering. Following the release, the band continued to perform regionally and then capitalized on the time afforded by the unfortunate shutdown of venues and they began writing their first full-length album. The band returned to Beeson’s studio in the summer of 2020 to start recording. Laden with droning riffs and downtempo walls of monolithic sound, they completed their crushing Self-titled debut full length. The start of 2021 ushers in a new and monumental era for the guys as Cosmic Reaper becomes part of the Heavy Psych Sounds family.
The heaviest elements are there and are guaranteed to move planets. The stars align and engines ignite as COSMIC REAPER claws at the soul of the genre.

Since its 2007 genesis at the hands of founding members, Jon Case (bass, vocals) and Jason Ward (drums, vocals), this Greensboro, NC outfit have mutated restlessly, moving from its initial Morphine-infused heavy fusion through math-y metal and finally to the soaring, technical heavy rock of its current approach. Over those dozen years, too, IRATA has made its presence known in metal and hard rock circles throughout the Southeast and beyond. Now, and thanks to its growth from a trio to a four-piece with the addition of guitarist Owen Burd, IRATA is evolving yet again.
With Burd's talents on guitar, vocals and trumpet added to what had already felt like a complete equation, Ward notes, IRATA is pushing itself to new vocal and instrumental heights. Accordingly, the new album "Tower" applies impressive musicianship and complex textures to increasingly approachable tunes that teeter between hard rock and prog-metal. It's like the sports car version of Don Caballero.
The album "Tower" was recorded in vaunted hometown studio Legitimate Business and produced by ALL THEM WITCHES guitarist Ben McLeod, with co-production by LEGIT BIZ engineer and heavy metal mastermind Kris Hilbert. Flavors of MASTODON, KYLESA, HELMS ALEE and SANDRIDER mix with SMASHING PUMPKINS-reminiscent textures and clarion Perry Farrell-style vocals, creating a heavy palette that is both innovative and familiar.
"Tower" was released on Detroit's Small Stone Records in May of 2019, with national and international tours in support of Tower to be announced.

Never content to exist in an easily defined space, NEW LIGHT CHOIR defy genres, preferring to weave diverse threads of sound into their own unique sonic tapestry. On their previous album Volume II (High Roller Records, 2015), the two-headed genre-hybrid group explored the 50-year history of dark, heavy guitar-based music and made what Invisible Oranges called “music made from missing links.”
NEW LIGHT CHOIRs new album, "Torchlight", sees the duo step on the distortion pedal and travel deeper into the mystical, dusk-filled metallic territory hinted at on its predecessor. "Torchlight" is possessed with the same creative spirit and a sense of wonder as the early albums by genre forefathers TROUBLE and MANILLA ROAD, yet NEW LIGHT CHOIR are devoid of the trappings of retro worship and prefer to look into the future.

Is it Halloween yet? Silly question, it’s Halloween all year round for BLOODY HAMMERS! The American hard rock duo has prepared a wonderfully creepy horror musical experience that pays homage to classic flicks such as "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" (1974) and "Now The Screaming Starts" (1973).
BLOODY HAMMERS was founded in 2012 by Anders Manga in Transylvania County, North Carolina. Manga is the primary producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. BLOODY HAMMERS music straddles a range of genres including heavy metal, gothic rock, doom metal and psychedelic rock. The touring band features a revolving lineup with Manga and keyboardist Devallia being the only permanent live members. Devallia also contributes keyboard parts to recordings, is sometimes credited as a co-producer.
The band will release their fifth album "The Summoning" in June 28th, 2019. "The Summoning" is the BLOODY HAMMERS idea of a soundtrack for your favorite video nasties holds some surprises on their upcoming album.
"Lunar Blue" is the debut EP from OLD MOONS out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The band plays slow and darker shades of heavy rock, a very dark baritone vocal hovering in the cloud and wonderfully distorted guitars, check this up.

Crazed, stripped-down glitter/gutter rock from North Carolina. ZODIAC PANTHERS with their new single and video "Primal Astrology" shaking life in any old skeleton, even the old relics of RAMONES wake to life when the rythms of this trio lets loose.
On hitting play the listener is immediately drawn to the best of CBGBs on the late ’70s with the carefree low slung guitar and bass combinations pumped along by a busy drumkit with the slurried vocal rounding out the sound.
Appropriately all over in less than two and three quarters, such is its infectious nature the audience finds themselves chanting along with the chorus on first play through.

BASK are a young band from North Carolina that play a highly original blend of Americana, country, post-rock and stoner/doom metal. "American Hollow" is the band’s debut on The Path Less Traveled Records and I can say that this is great stuff. An energetic album with some half-time shuffles that breaks into a pretty straight-forward stoner rock groove, similar to some of the less aggressive tunes by RED FANG.
The vocals have a great twang with a distinctly country vibe, odd but it works. The lads have a great feeling in the musicianship jangly and swiftly guitars slings, big fat drums and a rumbly bass in a melancholy country-like vibe.
