Joe Bonamassa - Blues of Desperation

Monday, New Week, time to present "Record of The Week" "Blues of Desperation" is the twelfth studio album by American blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa. It was released on March 25, 2016 through J&R Records. "Blues of Desperation" is recorded in just five days in Nashville with the producer Kevin Shirley where Bonamassa give us 11 excellent blues rock tunes that are filled with his marvellous guitar spells, all together with his band members bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, horn players Lee Thornburg, Paulie Cerra and Mark Douthit, background singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae and Juanita Tippins all this is backed by the dual drummers, Anton Fig (David Letterman's house band) and Greg Morrow.

"Blues of Desperation" is simply an excellent blues rock album. I must say that Bonamassa's resume is pretty impressive, he continues to be creative and interesting album after album.

The record features, astonishing, cutting edge blues musicianship from Bonamassa and his band. The album kicks of with the barreling rocker "This Train" with some excellent slide guitar work and the searing blues-rock riff driven "Mountain Climbing" to the wonderful laid back car song "Drive", a tune that you will get goose bumps if you turn it up during driving. The album continues with great slow blues rocker "No Good Place For The Lonely".

He blazes across new horizons of blues-rock on songs like the stirring Americana tune "The Valley Runs Low" and the piano blues tune "Livin’ Easy" and more classic blues tune like "You Left Me Nothin' But The Bill And The Blues" and "What I’ve Known For A Very Long Time" to the modern touch of heavy blues rhythms like the title track "Blues of Desperation" along with "Distant Lonesome Train" and "How Deep This River Runs"

Summary: If there is one Blues album that you are going to buy 2016, then is no doubt "Blues of Desperation" with Joe Bonamassa
