Number 2 on the seasonal best album list on Tune Of The Day, goes to the American Blues-Rock band "Rival Sons" with their album "Head Down".
In 2007 Scott Holiday left his previous band and signed with Atlantic Records to form a band in a more hard rock/blues rock vein. Teaming with drummer Mike Miley and bassist Robin Everhart, they set off in search of a vocalist. Holiday discovered Jay Buchanan and suggested him to the band. Miley had known Buchanan for years, and asked him to join the band; after initially declining, Buchanan agreed to join.
In June 2009 the band digitally self-released their first album, Before the Fire. In 2010 the band signed with Earache Records and released a self-titled EP, followed by their first full length, Pressure & Time. In 2012, the band played on the second stage at Download Festival before again entering the studio for a recording session for their latest album. Head Down was released on September 17, 2012 and lead to a tour of Europe
Rival Sons is not just a retro nostalgia band, far from it. With their influences have they created something of their own, and with "Head Down", the band has developed and does it with panache. With their innovative rock of artistic achievement, the album is a must in the record shelf.
Todays tune "Until the Sun Comes" is taken from Rival Sons third studio album "Head Down"
