Thåström - Centralmassivet

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"Centralmassivet" is Mr. Thåström's ninth solo album. Industry blues with electronic groove and a soulful singing is his trademark and that is what you will get with this release. Even from an international perspective, Thåström has developed a sound that is unique with Swedish lyrics that is just killing sensitive. And with Pelle Ossler's significantly dangling guitars, Niklas Hellberg's organ, Ulf Rockis Ivarsson bass lines, Mikael Nilzen keyboards, Nikolas Janco's drumming makes "Centralmassivet" another terrific album by Thåström.

The album starts with "Bluesen I Malmö" flows in the same stream as "Jeffrey Lee Pierce", but more deeper and cyrillic. In the dark monotonous electronic shadows of "Körkarlen" I feel lucky and I Just love the sequencer bass that drives the tune forward. The title track is a beautiful ballad with a sensitive Thåström to move forward to the spoken word-rock, Thåström has never been so inspired by Bruno K Öijer as at "Old Point Bar". "Låt Det Goda" is a captivating tune, cruel and fuzzy to make a break in the album to a senselessly beautiful ballad "Aldrig Av Med Varandra" where we hear the voice of LaGaylia Frazier in the background. The magically "Som mästarna målat himlen" where Pugh Rogefeldt appears among the songwriters is a real highlight on the album. "Karaokebaren" is a powerful tune, smokey and Industrial. "Natten För Det Här" is a slow piece and ends the album lovely!

The album contains 9 tunes that clocks in at almost 45 min. Released September 29, 2017. It was recorded at Hansa-studio in Berlin and produced by Thåström and Niklas Hellberg.

Sum: "Centralmassivet" is a sensitive and very beautiful album that is a must for every Thåström fan.

Pugh Rogefeldt - Små Lätta Moln

Sunday, a rather special day today, for it is Thetania's birthday. So we are celebrating her with a "Hooray Hooray" and dedicate today's song to her. It was much like "Little Light Clouds" that I was feeling the first time I met her. Happy Birthday Thetania, Love you girl!

Today's tune "Små Lätta Moln" (Little light cloud) is a song from 1969, written by Pugh Rogefeldt. It is on his debut album "Ja, dä ä dä"(1969), but also on the live album "Ett steg till"(1975).

The song was recorded at Metronome Studios in June 1969 with Anders Burman as a producer. Participants were Rogefeldt on guitar and vocals, George Wadenius on guitar and bass, Janne "Loffe" Carlsson on drums. Techniques for recording was Michael B. Tretow. Todays video is a live recording from Umeå at Scharinska villan 2008, enjoy!

Miss Li - Här Kommer Natten

Sunday, cold Sunday, freezing outside and it is now clear that autumn is here in earnest and winter just around the corner, now is not long to go before the shovel and long underwear are unpacked again.

This weekend I have been out and fluttered around the country, will return on matter later on. On the bus trip home, I sat with my phone and checked the emails and Facebook, noted that many had written about a particular artist, and the interpretation that had been made of Pugh Rogefeldt's song "Här kommer natten". Even a blog colleague wrote about this, So I got curious and checked it up. The first reaction was a bit of fun, noted that this is the same program as last week's classic came from, ie, a Swedish artist interprets another Swedish artist. The song is performed incredibly beautiful, touching and poignant, can really believe that Pugh is proud and does not surprise me if this will be a hit on a list near you.

Other participants besides Miss Li in this season are Magnus Uggla, Maja Ivarsson, Olle Ljungström, Pugh Rogefeldt, Darin and Sylvia Vrethammar.

Today's tune "Här kommer natten" is written by Pugh Rogefeldt, taken from his debut album "Ja, dä ä dä", released 1969. And its performed by Linda Carlsson (born July 6, 1982), better known by her stage name Miss Li, is a Swedish singer. She was born in Borlänge, but now lives in Stockholm.



Så mycket bättre ("So Much Better") is a Swedish reality television show that airs on TV4. The basic premise is that each artist attempts to do their own version of another artists well-known songs, with each person getting an episode featuring all of their songs being performed by the other musicians. The artists spend eight days together at a hotel in Gotland, where they attempt to put their own stamps on the songs. The first series premiered on 23 October 2010 and featured Lasse Berghagen, Barbro "Lill-Babs" Svensson, Petter Askergren, Thomas Di Leva, September, Christer Sandelin and Plura Jonsson. A second series premiered on 29 October 2011. The show has since spawned a Norwegian version on TV2 called "Hver gang vi møtes".

November - Sekunder (förvandlas till år)

 

During the show of Abramis Brama at Debaser Slussen last Saturday, did they invited up one guest on the stage, it was none other than Björn "Binge" Inge, who according to Abramis Brama´s statement, that he was the one who were behind the band,inspired them, pushing them forward to continue recording new materials and keep the flag flying. This was a very pleasant surprise . Ran in to "Binge" after the show, who told me about his new band "Mårran" that soon will be releaseing their debut album. This will be very interesting to listen to. So today we serve you guys a tune from a classic "Binge" band.

November is a Swedish rock band formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1969 by Christer Stålbrandt,
Richard Rolf and Björn Inge. Their music was partly inspired by American acid rock, but heavy and blues based like a mixture of Cream, Mountain and Led Zeppelin. November started in 1968 at Tegelhögen, a youth club in Vällingby (a Stockholm suburb). At this club Christer Stålbrandt and Björn Inge played together with two friends as The Imps. After a few months Stålbrandt left the group to form a new group called Train. Björn Inge joined shortly after. Train also included Snowy White on guitar. In the early autumn of 1969 Snowy decided to return to his native homeland, England, and Richard Rolf joined as their new guitarist.

On November 1st, 1969 they supported Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at the Que-Club in Gothenburg, and therefore they decided to call themselves November.

November was one of the first Swedish rock bands with Swedish lyrics. Most of the lyrics were written by Stålbrandt, influenced by the 60's flower power movement. Despite the Swedish lyrics, November was quite popular in England. While touring in England the lyrics was often translated to English, the crowd, however, insisted on the band performing with Swedish lyrics.

November recorded three albums which all reached high places on the Swedish charts. After their last concert at club Domino on New Year's Eve 1972 the band split up and had up until 2007, only performed once, namely during the release party for the CD November-Live 1993 (recorded on tour in 1971) on 30 Nov 1993.

Christer Stålbrandt moved on starting the group Saga, Björn Inge joined jazz rockers Energy, and Richard Rolf was one of the forming members of Bash and later on joined Nature.

Today's tune "Sekunder" is taken from November's first album, "En ny tid är här..." ("A new era is here)". The album was released in summer 1970 at the record company Sonet and became a sales success, with 8 weeks on "Kvällstoppen". The song "Mount Everest" was released as a single and was two weeks on the Top Ten list. To sing hard rock in Swedish, it was basically just Pugh Rogefeldt that done that before November.
