White Lies - Am I Really Going To Die

"As I Try Not To Fall Apart" is the sixth full-length release for British trio WHITE LIES was produced by Ed Buller and Claudius Mittendorfer. Released 18th February 2022.

WHITE LIES have been known for their moody and anthemic songs, where the tunes mostly were melancholy and brooding and somehow this feels different to previous outings, but I have heard it to few times to make a review but I will share the title track.

The album had four singles released ahead of its release: the title track, "I Don't Want to Go to Mars", "Am I Really Going to Die", and "Blue Drift".

Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar),
Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals),
and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums)

The Snuts - Juan Belmonte

Scottish 4-piece THE SNUTS have been on the rise recently, with their newest album they have recived alot of play time on the radio and spotify where the tune popped up after a record that I was listning the other day. Sometimes the follow up tunes are intressting and fun to hear.

The tune I heard was the catchy "Juan Belmonte" which gets stuck in your head. Great groove, a nice vocals, check it out below.

THE SNUTS are a Scottish indie rock band formed in 2015, originating from West Lothian, Scotland. They have performed across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The band consists of Jack Cochrane (vocals and guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar), Callum '29' Wilson (bass) and Jordan 'Joko' Mackay (drums) and was formed when the members were in school.

Today's tune "Juan Belmonte" is taken from the debut studio album "W.L." by Scottish indie rock band, released on 2 April 2021 through Parlophone. The video clip is at Gorbals Sound. THE SNUTS are already beginning to craft an undeniably magnetic following, having captured the imagination of fans across Scotland with their early demos and infamously anthemic, all-encompassing live show. The band performed their much-anticipated debut headliner at Glasgow's legendary King Tuts in December 2017, having sold out in a matter of hours. Backing Vocals courtesy of Soul Nation Choir: Stefanie Black, Pamela Strachan, Chelsea Larkins. Brass Section: Trumpet - Philip Cardwell, Trombone - Anoushka Nanguy & Tuba - Andreas Theocharous.

Arab Strap - The Turning Of Our Bones

"The Turning Of Our Bones" is the comback tune with the Scottish duo ARAB STRAP, their first new song in 15 years.

ARAB STRAP are a Scottish indie rock band whose core members are Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton. The band were signed to independent record label Chemikal Underground, split in 2006 and reformed in 2016. The band signed to Rock Action Records in 2020.

The Scottish duo, Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton, are “back from the grave and ready to rave”. And tell us that the new song is about “Inspired by the Famadihana ritual of the Malagasy people of Madagascar, in which they dance with the corpses of loved ones; it’s all about resurrection and shagging.”

"It's about hopelessness and darkness,” says Aidan Moffat. “But in a fun way.” The ARAB STRAP frontman is speaking about the band’s 7th studio album and their first since 2005’s "The Last Romance". The band's exciting return saw the much lauded "The Turning Of Our Bones" single achieve Record of the Week on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio 2 show and hit the B-list at BB6Music. The new album will appeal to longtime fans and pick up new ones who weren't ready for ARAB STRAP first time round!

“‘The Turning Of Our Bones’ is an incantation, a voodoo spell to raise the dead,” Moffat said of the new song in a statement.

ARAB STRAP last performed as part of the Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavík in November 2017, with Moffat telling a fan after the show that the performance was likely to have been their last ever gig.

Enjoy today's tune "The Turning Of Our Bones" taken from the new album "As Days Get Dark", released 5 March 2021 via the label Rock Action.

Calexico - Quattro (World Drifts In)

Saturday and we pick a tune that almost could be a classic.

"Quattro (World Drifts In)" is taken from the fourth studio album "Feast Of Wire" by American indie rock band CALEXICO. The album was released on June 18, 2003 through Quarterstick Records. The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

The band keeps things tight and concise and John Convertino's drums corral the rush of sound into all the right spaces, pushing the steel guitar motifs that color the background of "Quattro (World Drifts In)" up to meet Burns' vocals. The album "Feast Of Wire" is a stunning album where they kept arsenal of genres, textures and images to transport you to the Southwest's forgotten places and put you in the shoes of the people who stare across the border in both directions. It is the album we always knew they had in them but feared they would never make as the website pitchfork says.

Enjoy today's tune "Quattro (World Drifts In)" by CALEXICO, released February 18, 2003.

Ty Segall & Cory Hanson - She Is A Beam

Ty Segall has returned with “She’s a Beam”, a new collaborative single with WAND frontman Cory Hanson. Cory and Ty have decided to release the much anticipated single "She's a Beam", along with "Milk Bird Flyer". Both songs were recorded 5 years ago, and were recently rediscovered. They will be donating 100% of the first week's sales of both songs to Black Lives Matter LA. The single was released February 7, 2021.

Unfurling like a five-minute jam-out session, “She’s a Beam” sees Segall and Hanson working pure psychedelic magic. For about 90 seconds we hear some foggy vocals, but the rest is dedicated to the two musicians playing off one another with their respective guitars.

Today's clip with Ty Segall & Cory Hanson performing "She Is A Beam" live on the Logging Road at Pickathon. Recorded August 2, 2015.

Kevin Morby - Wander

"Sundowner" is the sixth studio album by American indie rock musician Kevin Morby, released on October 16, 2020, on Dead Oceans.

"Sundowner" was written at Morby's home in Kansas. It was recorded in January 2019 with producer Brad Cook at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas. In the meantime, Morby released his fifth studio album, "Oh My God" (2019), and went on tour in support of it. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Morby and Cook put the finishing touches on "Sundowner" from their respective homes.

In an essay announcing the album, Morby described the album as his "attempt to put the Middle American twilight—its beauty profound, though not always immediate—into sound."

Today's tune "Wander" is taken from "Sundowner", as Morby explains “‘Wander’ is anchored by a lyric I’ve had in my head for the past decade,” he adds. “The hook ‘I wonder as I wander why was I born in the wild wonder’ is even featured in the insert of the first "Babies" LP. The song is meant to steadily gain momentum before coming to an abrupt halt. It is the shortest song I’ve ever written, and is intended to be played on a loop.” Enjoy today's tune.

The Sounds - Safe And Sound

For a band whose history as a band spans a little over two decades, Swedish indie rockers THE SOUNDS sure don’t sound like it. Resonating the excitement and dynamism of a band who are getting their very first hint of success, THE SOUNDS are gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album, "Things We Do For Love", a sweepingly majestic slice of Nordic indie rock that crackles and pops in all the right places.

The new album sounds really promising and exciting after hearing the two singles that have been released where the latest can be heard and seen below. The first single is the propulsive title track "Things We Do For Love" and now the second tune with the pulsating keys in "Safe And Sound" (which vocalist Maja Ivarsson describes as “having the courage to dive into something new as long as you got that special person right next to you”).

THE SOUNDS did perform a free "Safe And Sound” concert that was broadcast LIVE from the premier local venue The KB in their hometown of Malmö, Sweden on Friday April 17, 2020. They performing and debuting songs from their first new album in seven years entitled "Things We Do For Love" (out June 12, 2020), including their new singles "Things We Do For Love" and "Safe And Sound" (the latter single out on April 24th). The event was a full production concert of fan favorites from their previous six albums that “You can dance and rock out to while safely social distancing at home.”

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, THE SOUNDS have been forced to postpone their entire North American tour planned for April/May (rescheduled dates TBA), as well as all of their other concerts and festivals around the world. The band had been searching for a way to reach their large global fan-base while the world is forced to be staying in, so when their hometown venue The KB reached out and invited the band to come and perform there for a full production concert, they immediately started the discussions.

The stream is broadcasted on THE SOUNDS webpages:

Or straight to the Youtube link here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvo0k45-FNU

Cato Salsa Experience - Lovesick

Part of the post-CARDIGANS trend in Scandinavian pop toward a more rocking, garage sound, Oslo, Norway's CATO SALSA EXPERIENCE make a righteously sloppy clatter with a strong hint of psychedelia and just enough pop smarts to make it work. The group formed in 2000 when singer and guitarist Cato Thomassen, bassist Christian Engfelt, and drummer Jon Magne Riise held an informal jam session in Thomassen's kitchen. Adding keyboardist Nina Bjorndalen and taking their nonsensical name from a joke someone had scribbled on the aforementioned kitchen wall, the band started gigging around the local clubs and released a self-titled 10" EP. After THE HIVES made the Scandinavian countries hot again, the American label Emperor Norton signed the CATO SALSA EXPERIENCE, releasing their debut album, "A Good Tip for a Good Time", in the summer of 2002.

Later in the 2000s, the group began recording albums with The Thing. Following the beginning of Cato Thomassen's full-time musical partnership with ex MADRUGADA singer Sivert Höyem in 2009, the band is seemingly now defunct.

Members:

Cato (Salsa) Thomassen-vocals, guitar
Christian Engfelt-bass
Jon Magne Riise-drums
Nina Bjorndalen-keyboards

Today's tune "Lovesick" is taken from the bands second album "Fruit Is Still Fresh" (Garralda Records, 2003), enjoy!

Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?

For twelve years, the music and film festival Way Out West – that attracts visitors from all over Sweden and large parts of the rest of the world – has filled Gothenburg and Slottskogen with three days of music, festivities and culture. The programme includes the biggest stars in the world, the hottest new-comers, film premieres, challenging conversations, great vegetarian food and a robust club programme called ‘Stay Out West’ that takes place at night in central Gothenburg.

The ground concept remains the same; over three days we create a cultural melting-pot in central Gothenburg and establish the main area in beautiful Slottsskogen. We create the festival that we would like to visit ourselves, and one that we don’t think exists anywhere else in the world.

This is Way Out West!

This is my eleventh year on this festival and for some strange reason, I long for it. Much depends on the fact that it is the world's best colleagues, a bunch that is well welded that it goes like a dance, everyone know what to do and help eash other out and makes things easier for eash other to conquer it. Even if I, is not a big fan of Indie, Rap, Hip Hop, Dance or the most common artists that perform on this festival, not even am I a vegeterian, but once a year it works out just fine. And as I always do every year around the festival, I play some tunes from the artists that is going to perform and as long as we go I add some cool pictures and I even might tell a story, we will see about that. So for the next week, 10 days I will focus on WOW - 18. First out will be british bunch of Indie Rockers.

ARCTIC MONKEYS is a English indie rock band that is playing on Thursday at WOW.

Today's tune "Do I Wanna Know?" is a song recorded by ARCTIC MONKEYS for their fifth studio album "AM" (2013). The song was released as a single on 18 June 2013, together with an accompanying music video, and afterward became available for digital download via iTunes. A 7" vinyl edition of the single was released on 22 July 2013, with a B-side titled "2013".

The song was first played live on 22 May 2013 in Ventura, California, at the first concert of the ARCTIC MONKEYS' AM Tour. Throughout the tour, "Do I Wanna Know?" was being played as the opening number.

Musically, "Do I Wanna Know?" is an indie rock song with elements of psychedelic music and strong elements of stoner rock and blues rock. In terms of both lyrical content and aesthetic style, the song picks up from where the band's 2012 single "R U Mine?" left off. The guitar riffs are strikingly similar, but the song is more downtempo. The track continues the hard-edged, rocking sound of their previous album Suck It and See. In concert, singer and guitarist Alex Turner use a Vox 12-string electric guitar.

Structurally, the song follows a common pop music "verse-pre-chorus-chorus" form up until its second chorus; from that point on, it follows what Hit Songs Deconstructed calls "a more unorthodox flow" ending in a "pre-chorus/chorus hybrid section". Falsetto backing vocals form an interplay with those of Turner throughout the song. Moreover, the title encapsulates the entire premise of the story, the narrator wondering whether he wants to remain in doubt or know if his feelings are unrequited or mutual. "Do I Wanna Know?" is in the key of G minor.

The music video for the tune was directed by David Wilson with animation agency Blinkink, was first released onto YouTube on 18 June 2013. As of July 2018, it has been viewed over 690 million times. The video begins with a black background and simple visuals of white sound waves (similar to the AM cover art) that vibrate in synchronization, first with the percussion and lead guitar, then with the lead singer, Alex Turner. As the band enters with the chorus, colored sound waves illustrate new voices. Simple sound waves then give way to fast-moving, representational line-drawing animations that morph between a variety of female, race car, race car engine, and road racing images. At one point, the undulating white line becomes the "trucker's Mudflap girl", seen in the single's cover art. The line drawings are interrupted several times with flashes of full-color animation, several that recall the surrealistic style of Robert Crumb. The increasingly complex video creates, by turns, a somewhat jarring and psychedelic experience, in a style not unlike the Gary Gutierrez animations that were featured in The Grateful Dead Movie (1977). The video ends with the familiar white line becoming two crossed checkered flags, which join together in a single line with the "AM" initials. Enjoy!

Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks

This band visited Stockholm Sweden at Debaser Medis last week.
Apearently they were quite popular, (i never heard about em) Debaser was full this evening and the audience was singing along and seemed to like it.

I took some pics from the gig, here they are.

The vocal guy, Marc Foster had a terrible cold, coughing back stage, Really good that they went through this gig with this, they are not like certain other artists that cancelled a full arena..cough cough no name said.

Foster the people is a indie band from the States plays sorta atmospheric, psychedelic, and dance-oriented pop, they started up in 2009.
Foster was struggelin around doing commercial jingles and then he started up the band and had a break through with this tune, Pumped Up Kicks in 2010.
In May 2011 they released the debut album "Torches".

Ladys and Gents, here is Foster the people.

Peace, Thetania
