Ryan Adams - Blank Space

Time to wrap up Way Out West and post the last one from the festival. This time it was my 10th Way Out West of 11 :) The weather was pretty good, only two days with rain, site was in good condition and easy to build on, the volunteers was awesome as always in Gothenburg and made the life easy for us in the crew. The music was ok, even if I would love to have some more Rock than the festival supply´s. The vegetarian food was really good this year, good mix of various dishes. My favourite this year of all the artists is Ryan Adams and PIXIES. Both bands deliverd great music.

"Blank Space" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her fifth studio album 1989 (2014). It was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback. The song was released to the radio by Republic Records on November 10, 2014 as the album's second single, after "Shake It Off" and is the second track on the album. Musically, "Blank Space" is an electropop song with lyrics that satirize the media's perception of Swift and her relationships.

Ryan Adams' cover version of the song was featured on his Taylor Swift tribute album, 1989 (2015). Father John Misty released a cover version of the song in the style of the rock band The Velvet Underground in 2015. The cover is a reinterpretation of Adams' version and is built on the melody of the song "I'm Waiting for the Man."

Today's tune "Blank Space" is taken from the fifteenth studio album "1989" by American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, released digitally through his own PAX AM record label on September 21, 2015. The album is a track-by-track cover of Taylor Swift's album of the same name. It debuted at number 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart, one position ahead of Swift's 1989, which was in its 48th week on the chart.

Adams first became interested in Taylor Swift's album while coping with the collapse of his marriage to Mandy Moore. On what attracted him about Swift's album, Adams stated "There's just a joy to 1989," describing the album as "its own alternate universe." Adams initially described the album as being in the style of The Smiths. When recording the album, Adams said he found a sound somewhere between Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and The Smiths' Meat Is Murder.

Band of Horses - The Funeral

Way out West is now in the building state, in a few days the festival will kick in and the music will fly free in Slottsskogen here in Gothenburg. So for the upcoming week we lay all the focus on this festival, music, stories and of course some pictures.

In the mid-oughties a flanellwearing army of american men with guitars once again marched on the recording industry. And, with their beards proudly waving like pennants in the wind, BAND OF HORSES walked first point. Ben Bridwell and his comrades brought a sense of epic mystery to an otherwise earth-bound genre. Each Band of Horses-song bringing the sense of a frail human being singing his questions into the void of the night sky. But after years of searching for inspiration outside — rocky shores, dense woods, desert plains — Ben has, on latest album ”Why are you ok”, uncovered a new conduit by growing roots: being a husband and a father, and channeling the resulting sense of exploration, uncertainty, fear, love, and courage into his music. And, luckily for us, it turns out those more down at home-feelings translate into music just as epic as we´re used to from BAND OF HORSES.

Since forming the band in Seattle back in 2004, Ben Bridwell and his BAND OF HORSES has released five album. Break out album ”Cease to Begin” in 2007 was followed by ”infinite Arms” in 2010, debuting in the US top ten and going on to be nominated for a Grammy. Last years ”Why are you ok” was recorded with help from Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) and Rick Rubin (50% of all good music from the last 30 years).

Today's tune "The Funeral" is a song by the American rock band BAND OF HORSES, taken from their debut studio album "Everything All the Time" (2006). The alternative rock song was written by the band members. The song was released as the debut single from the band and lead single from the album. A live version of the song appeared earlier on the band's self-titled EP, under the original name "Billion Day Funeral".

In August 2009, Pitchfork Media named "The Funeral" the 67th-greatest song of the 2000s. On the surface the video tells the story of a man whose dog has died. Saddened by his loss, the man drowns his sorrows in alcohol. He then drives under the influence and the end of the video suggests he crashes head-on into a delivery truck.

Band of Horses - Knock Knock

Today Band Of Horses play in Stockholm.
Me and Stones arent there, cos Stones is out on a tour and I have 2 other gigs to take care of.

Band Of Horses released 4 albums and the latest came this year, called "Mirage Rock"

Im gonna play the first single from it.
Directed by Jared Eberhardt, the video simulates nature documentaries from a bygone era. Bridwell revealed that the footage was taken in the Salt Lake City area, "It seems fitting that we'd finally get to shoot a video around Salt Lake City, as we've got a song that pays tribute to the area called 'The Great Salt Lake' from our first album. Better late than never."

If you dont know who they are they are a Indie Rock band from Seattle, US, started up in 2004.
