Scottish 4-piece THE SNUTS have been on the rise recently, with their newest album they have recived alot of play time on the radio and spotify where the tune popped up after a record that I was listning the other day. Sometimes the follow up tunes are intressting and fun to hear.
The tune I heard was the catchy "Juan Belmonte" which gets stuck in your head. Great groove, a nice vocals, check it out below.
THE SNUTS are a Scottish indie rock band formed in 2015, originating from West Lothian, Scotland. They have performed across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The band consists of Jack Cochrane (vocals and guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar), Callum '29' Wilson (bass) and Jordan 'Joko' Mackay (drums) and was formed when the members were in school.
Today's tune "Juan Belmonte" is taken from the debut studio album "W.L." by Scottish indie rock band, released on 2 April 2021 through Parlophone. The video clip is at Gorbals Sound. THE SNUTS are already beginning to craft an undeniably magnetic following, having captured the imagination of fans across Scotland with their early demos and infamously anthemic, all-encompassing live show. The band performed their much-anticipated debut headliner at Glasgow's legendary King Tuts in December 2017, having sold out in a matter of hours. Backing Vocals courtesy of Soul Nation Choir: Stefanie Black, Pamela Strachan, Chelsea Larkins. Brass Section:
Trumpet - Philip Cardwell, Trombone - Anoushka Nanguy & Tuba - Andreas Theocharous.
"Naiv" is another spectacular musical album release by the Hungarian eccentrics THY CATAFALQUE, the brainchild of Hungarian Tamás Kátai. "Naiv" is inspired by the “Naïve Art” movement.
One thing I love about Tamás Kátai, it's his ability to create innovative, interesting and very irresistible music. From his newly gained bag of lego, where the blocks contain diversion of genres like gothic rock, ambient, electronica, folklore, jazz, and funk amongst others, where all the pieces have wisely assembled together to create the musical landscape of well-working crossovers.
"Naiv" is just as unpredictable as his earlier works and demands to be listened to with full attention. That it can then be a sprawling story for someone who is unfamiliar with wilder textures, I can buy that, but I can almost promise that one can easily be sucked into the magical madness of the flow of rhythms with unknown and quite tricky instruments. It's a playful and very easily accessible record and still delivers on some good, old fashioned heavy riffs.
That album is a real adventure with many guests on various positions, like the vocalist Zoltán Kónya (GIRE) the progressive death metal band who appears on the album opener murderous blasting "A Bolyongás Ideje" spiced up with some psychedelia, like the unpredictable "Tsitsushka", that have many shifts from gothic metal to funk but still keep the focus also contains some fretless bass by Badó Réti (GIRE). The electronic intro in "A Valóság Kazamatái" takes one of the radar, until the heavy riffages take place in the middle eastern theme that this tune takes its path. The chamber rock piece "Számtalan Színek" where the guest musicians take the center with cello and creates a classical atmosphere. "Embersólyom" has a folkish touch with proggy flutes and some beautiful vocals from Martina Veronika Horváth (ex-NIBURTA, SALLYANNE, NULAH). She can also be heard on rocker "Napút" where she does an excellent job. "Vető" is eight minutes of old school avant-death metal, a heavy piece with some odd but pretty well-executed shifts. The extra bonus on the album is that all the lyrics are in the native Hungarian language. The album can feel complex and confusing but with some time and patience it will grow and the enjoyment will be much richer.
"Naiv" was released January 24 through Season Of Mist. Recorded, mixed and mastered in 2018-2019 in Edinburgh (United Kingdom) Makó, Budapest, Debrecen, Szentendre, Szombathely (Hungary) and Athens (Greece). Cover art: Irene Saíz Guerrero
Sum: "Naiv" is a magical album, requires some time with full attention, but with a little patience comes the rewarded.
Today's tune "Embersólyom" is taken from the ninth full-length album "Naiv", enjoy!
"Sole Survivor" is a tune by the Scottish NWOBHM Heavy Rock Band HEAVY PETTIN.
HEAVY PETTIN was formed in Glasgow in mid-1981 when the band Weeper, comprised of guitarist Gordon Bonnar, bassist Brian Waugh and drummer Gary Moat, added vocalist Steve Hayman and lead guitarist Punky Mendoza to the line-up.
HEAVY PETTIN' first stirred into action when vocalist Hamie, guitarists Gordon Bonnar and Punky Mendoza, drummer Gary Moat and bassist Brian Waugh first burst out of Glasgow in 1981. They were vibrant, priapic, anthemic and focused. As they showed on a three-track demo, and on the subsequent debut single for independent label Neat ("Roll The Dice"/"Love Xs Love"), they were more than mere DEF LEPPARD slaves. In fact, the PETTIN’ had an international sound that owed something to AC/DC, UFO, THIN LIZZY and FOREIGNER, but also had its own raging momentum.
Not that the band found the road straightforward. But, thanks to a work ethic that took them around the country, plus a valuable session for Radio 1’s prestigious ‘Friday Rock Show’, the band eventually landed a crucial deal with the major label Polydor Records. Moreover, their 1983 debut album ("Lettin’ Loose") was co-produced by the creative Mack together with QUEEN guitarist Brian May. Now, that’s pedigree.
Amazingly, that album has survived more than 20 years of high-speed hi-tech developments intact. While other, more celebrated records have dated badly, "Lettin’ Loose" re-affirms the belief back then that the Pettin would follow LEPPARD to big time stature. What went wrong at the time has little to do with band, or lack of ambition/talent.
In 2017, original members Hamie, Punky, and Gordon joined by Jez Parry on bass and Michael Ivory on drums performed for the first time in 25 years at Scotland’s WinterStorm. Reinvigorated, HEAVY PETTIN, now joined by ex-GUN guitarist Dave Aitken due to Punky hanging up his guitar and going in to retirement, did several shows in 2018 including a 6 date UK tour, with 3 sold out gigs in Nottingham, London and Edinburgh, as well as 2 sold out headline gigs in Milton Keynes and Glasgow.
The 2019 HEAVY PETTIN’ assault started in North Wales with HRH AOR Festival, then off to Germany’s Headbangers Open Air Festival in July, and a Aug/Sept tour including The Golden Age of Rock Festival Belgium, with Dee Snider and Angel, plus a mainland British tour with RockGoddess.
HEAVY PETTIN' are currently finishing out the year recording and mixing a new EP for mid-February release.
Hamie has said “…the demand and support for new HEAVY PETTIN material has been so overwhelming, we are excited to say we’re now working on brand new HEAVY PETTIN album too! Which will also be released later in 2020… and it’s going great!"
Today's tune "Sole Survivor" taken from the second album "Rock Ain’t Dead", enjoy!
"Come Undone" is a tune taken from the third collaborative studio album "Hawk" by Scottish indie pop singer Isobel Campbell and American alternative rock musician Mark Lanegan, released on 24 August 2010 on V2 Records. Recorded throughout the United Kingdom and the United States, Hawk features a number of guest musicians, including folk singer Willy Mason, bassist Bill Wells and former SMASHING PUMPKINS guitarist James Iha.
Today's tune "Come Undone" where the power comes from their tension between Isobel Campbell's wispy indie-pop coo and Mark Lanegan's deep blues-grunge growl, enjoy this beautiful rendition.
UK Punk legends THE EXPLOITED did visit Sweden for the first time, yesterday they was the first head-liner at PSK (Pretty Shitty Kjell)
Since the debut album "Punks Not Dead" in 1981, THE EXPLOITED have shown that they mean what the say. Not even an heartattack last year could hold Wattie and the boys away from the scene.
Matt Justice (Matt McGuire) - guitar, Irish Rob - bass, Wattie Buchan - Vocals & Wullie Buchan - drums
THE EXPLOITED is a Scottish punk rock band from the second wave of UK punk, formed in 1978. Originally a street punk band, THE EXPLOITED became a faster hardcore punk band with a heavy influence. Formed in Edinburgh by Stevie Ross and Terry Buchan, who were later joined by ex-soldier Walter ("Wattie") Buchan (Terry's brother), they signed to Secret Records in March 1981 and released their debut EP Army Life. The album Punks Not Dead followed in the same year. Despite many lineup changes, "Wattie" Buchan has remained as the leader, and the band continued into the 2000s and developed a worldwide following. In 2012 the band started writing material for a new album.
Despite being an iconic British hardcore punk band, THE EXPLOITED has gone through different musical styles throughout its career, starting with an Oi!-influenced street punk style on their first EP and their debut album Punk's Not Dead (1981). The band then adopted the hardcore punk style (containing riffs of thrash metal) that would become its hallmark music style during the 1980s (highlighted in the albums Troops of Tomorrow (1982), Let's Start A War ... (1983) and Horror Epics (1984)). Around the end of the 1980s, the band moved to a crossover thrash sound, starting with the LP Death Before Dishonour (1987) and continuing with the albums The Massacre (1990), Beat the Bastards (1996) and Fuck the System (2003). The band plans to release a new album in summer 2015.
Todays tune "Was It Me" is taken from the album "Fuck the System", released in 2003 by Dream Catcher Records. Ironically, this album was available in the US in a "clean version" with its anti-authoritarian title censored to "F*** the System" and edits made to the tracks themselves. The production value of this CD is much higher than their earlier work.
Gareeda is a Heavy rock trio from Edinburgh, Scotland. Formed in the first quarter of 2010 following turbulent times in not just the local music scene, but the UK, Gareeda formed over a mutual taste in music, principles and methods of consuming bourbon.
The original line-up of Stu Gordon, Tommy Concrete, Michael Branagh & Toni Martone quickly entered the studio and started writing the first album. Following an offer to join The Exploited as guitarist, lyricist and singer Tommy had to step aside due to touring commitments. Following a search of replacements, Gareeda recruited Stu Lillis to take the mic, bringing his own take on Tommy's outstanding lyrics.
Gareeda's sound is a mix of bits from blues, metal, fuzz, rock and roll, stoner and booze that reminds of Queen Of The Stone Age, with blistering riff from guitarist Stu Gordon they kick of todays tune "Last Orders" that has a very catchy groove, very US desert sound, me like and you should check this up!
