Year Of The Goat - Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record of The Week".

Swedish occult rock masters YEAR OF THE GOAT have returned with their 3rd opus "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis"

YEAR OF THE GOAT is recognizably influenced by the music of the 60’s and 70’s but they are creating their own dark art based on their musical roots. Sinister gospels full of atmosphere and passion are the result. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is the perfect example!

YEAR OF THE GOAT is led by Thomas Sabbathi’s groovy melodic vocals and his guitar playing, along with the two guitar gurus Jonas Mattsson and Don Palmroos, toghter they make some powerful riffage that the rythm section based on the drumm swinger Fredrik Hellerström and bass player Joona Hassinen, all this is complemented by Pope’s graceful mellotron organ.

The album is a big thrill to spin, with its captivating tunes you just suck into the creation that has been made, like a tuft of dust on the floor that is attacked by the vacuum cleaner and before the first word is said you are already sucked into the belly of the beast named Volta and hour later you wonder what the heck happened.

The new record shows that the band continues to evolve while the occult theme is intact. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is an album with majestic sound, spellbinding and elegiac melody lines that will haunt your dreams. All from the opening tune "Subortus" to the last "Subicio" is pure brilliance, you will be hooked into the finest occult rock full of blackened heart`s blood of THE GOAT. It flows thru like a Japanish knife cutting an freshly picked tomato.

The album was released on September 6th 2019 with Napalm Records

"Four years of neverending lust for creativity. For years of gluttony and decadence within our most sacred temple. For years of unspeakable boiling wrath. For years of greed filled wastefulness. Now, envy us in our moment of pride", the band states.

Sum: "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is a fantastic record

Today's tune "Superbia" is psychedelic piece with alot of energy

Year Of The Goat - Song Of Winter

Swedish cultists YEAR OF THE GOAT released their new seven-incher "Song of Winter" Dec 9th last year.

Atm YEAR OF THE GOAT are out on the road in Jan/Feb, along with the countrymen THE ORDER OF ISRRAFEL and the Norwegian rockers TOMBSTONES.

"For many years Francoise Hardy has been part of our playlist while on the road. As soon as "Song Of Winter" played the thought that we really should do a cover of it at some point always presented itself. Lyrically we find it going very well with the theme of our first album and also with the one we’re planning at the moment. The B-side on the other hand lyrically draws more towards our second album “The Unspeakable”. One could probably say that the wonderful and talented Francoise Hardy is helping us build a bridge between our last album and the one to come.”

“Song of Winter” released by Parisian singer/actress/model Francoise Hardy on 1969’s "One-Nine-Seven-Zero”

Today’s tune “Song of Winter” is the brand new single by YEAR OF THE GOAT, Release limited to 500 copies. GOLDEN Vinyl limited to 200 copies, exclusively available through Napalm Records

Here is the original version of "Song Of Winter" with Francoise Hardy

Year Of The Goat - Vermin

Monday, time to introduce this weeks "Record Of The Week", this week we stay on Swedish soil and bow for YEAR OF THE GOAT and their latest album "The Unspeakable". It's about a month ago when we had the first tune of "The Unspeakable" played here at Tune Of The Day, that was the song "The Emma", then we stretched out our arms and praised the other side for a brilliant drop!

In these times of global upheaval YEAR OF THE GOAT will add fire to chaos and ignite the branches spread out for Christ by his flock to further the triumphal return of a Lord that never left… So rejoice in sin, every hour and every second is yours and yours only, just like every year is, and always has been, the YEAR OF THE GOAT!

"The Unspeakable" is a finely crafted piece, which is chock full of conjuring tone and with sinister knells, a magic mix of species, like a tin of "Chimichurri". "The Unspeakable" kicks of very brave, a epic 13 minute killer with sprawling twists full of progressive and dark gothic influences! The Second tune "Pillars of The South" they serve us with a straight rocker with great riffing and the vocal harmonies are just stunning. The 3:rd track we have played before, the amazing ballad where we get more of the astonishing use of the vocals and organ! That YEAR OF THE GOAT knows how to create amazing tunes is shown on this record only after the three first tunes. "Vermin" with it's more folk rockish approach gives the album a great highlight, it's catchy and melodic! The tunes "The Wind", "Black Sunlight" both rock on with all the ingredients you know to love so far and this keeps going thru until the end when the album closer "Riders With Vultures" get's on, a bombastic tune, where YOTG gives us a majesty of progressive rock in the same spirit as the first epic tune.

A quick summary of "The Unspeakable".

It's captivating, majestic and surprisingly fresh "Chimichurri"!
You need to add to your collection!

This one of the limited edition Vinyl releases of "The Unspeakable", yes I got this version!

Today's tune "Vermin" is taken from "The Unspeakable"

Sorry! No Video on this track, so please check out Spotify below for the link! Give it a listen and you will love it!

YEAR OF THE GOAT invite us to celebrate their second full length album "The Unspeakable". The Swedes indulge in occult doom rock full of blackened heart`s blood and elegiac melody lines that will haunt your dreams.

Lucifer is not fallen, he is the force that rises above such silly concepts as moral absolutes and eternal torture for non and petty crimes.

YEAR OF THE GOAT, while recognizing that the 60’s and 70’s saw the birth of true genius within the performance of dark art, aim is to abolish time and make you see it for the illusion it is - sinister gospels with properly dank atmospheres can be created whenever and wherever.

The band consists of:

Thomas Sabbathi vocals, guitar
Marcus Lundberg guitar
Don Palmroos guitar
Fredrik Hellerström drums
Tobias Resch bass
Pope mellotron,vocal

In these times of global upheaval YEAR OF THE GOAT will add fire to chaos and ignite the branches spread out for Christ by his flock to further the triumphal return of a Lord that never left… So rejoice in sin, every hour and every second is yours and yours only, just like every year is, and always has been, the YEAR OF THE GOAT!
- The Emma

Today's tune "The Emma" is taken from the upcoming album "The Unspeakable", set to release on July 31. The new single is a brilliant piece of art and I am really looking forward to hear the album in the end of next month. So what are you waiting for....??? Hit play for gods sake!

Year of the Goat - Spirits of Fire

Year of the Goat, while recognizing that the 60’s and 70’s saw the birth of true genius within the performance of dark art, aim is to abolish time and make you see it for the illusion it is - sinister gospels with properly dank atmospheres can be created whenever and wherever.

Since the release of the laureled mini LP in May 2011 fate has dealt YOG a bad set of cards. Per Broddesson severely injured his left hand a few weeks before the bands debut gig on the 1st of October 2011 in their hometown Norrköping, supporting Graveyard. Per's injury made it impossible for him to play the gig and a replacement had to be called in. Per's injury also affected the time schedule for the recording of the debut album Angels´ Necropolis, and in addition to this friction between members started to gnaw at the band chemistry, resulting in Jonas Matsson leaving in January. The stress fueled search for a new guitarist started immediately and at the beginning of March Don Palmroos received full membership. The beginning of March also saw Mikael Popovic join YOG on mellotron and back ground vocals, a much welcome recruitment which has strengthened YOG immensely. Parallel to, and despite, these events the recording of Angels´ Necropolis rolled on at studio Huvudstaden (Ghost, PG Lost), a studio perfectly suited to YOG's sound preferences, featuring (mostly analogue) equipment that makes for a stunning, true vintage sound.

Year of the Goat members today:

Thomas Sabbathi - vocals, guitar
Per Broddesson - guitar
Don Palmroos - guitar
Fredrik Hellerström - drums
Tobias Resch - bass
Mikael Popovic - mellotron,vocal

The record has been released both as a CD and Vinyl. When reading the table of contents of The vinyl, it accumulates lots of liquid in the mouth which can easily begin to seep out of the corners of the mouth.

Noble rough cartonstock gatefold jacket with hotfoil embossing, huge 12" sized 16 page booklet with lyrics and impressions, heavy innerseleeves, heavy 180 gram black virgin vinyl, limited edition. The album Angels Necropolis is more than a mere collection of songs; it is a recollection of a fantastic chain of events wrenched from a state of reverie. It is an alternative gospel, a musical reverence to the Master, a harmonious companion to the Light-Bringer, a sublime hymn to Abraxas. For there within the album lies its own mythology: the story of the rise of Lucifer to the throne of the Overworld.

The Year Of The Goat is truly upon us all…and Spirits Of Fire is todays tune, taken from the latest record.

"Av alla barmhärtiga änglar är jag den Ende fallne"

Aoria - The Black Heart

First December, that means it's time to open the doors in this year's Advent Calendar, the Christmas (Advent) Calendar can be seen on TV, and a new bunch of reviews that have been published on WeRock.se.

My contribution to WeRock this month, is the band Aoria, Read my review on WeRock! Other bands that have come under the microscope are Dark Confessions "Insanity", review written by BiblioteKarin, Propagandhi "Failed States", review written by Fredrik, Tiamat "The Scarred People", review written by Robert who also puts teeth in Soundgarden "King Animal" and Vivid Remorse "Down To The Wire", Jarno as the new writer gives his thoughts on http://www.werock.se/Recension/visarec.php?id=860.. Furthermore, you can read about Aeon "Aeons Black", Cryptopsy "The Best Of Us Bleed", Nomentory "Where Death Is Most Alive"

In July 2011, after four years of silence, Erik Nilsson (A Swarm of the Sun, Kausal), Robin Bergh (October Tide) and Niklas Sandin (Katatonia) began recording Aoria's debut album The Constant.

During the silent years the band earned a dedicated following through music communities and media. After four years of individual progress with other musical projects, the band has reformed and picked up where it left off - with a vision to create an emotionally earthshaking album of melancholic and powerful soundscapes.

The album is recorded at Garaget Studio and produced by band member Erik Nilsson. It is mixed at Studio Riddarborgen by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna, Khoma) who, with his uncompromising sound, has intensified what has become The Constant.

Todays tune "The Black Heart" is the first single of the new album "The Constant"
