Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record of The Week".
Swedish occult rock masters YEAR OF THE GOAT have returned with their 3rd opus "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis"
YEAR OF THE GOAT is recognizably influenced by the music of the 60’s and 70’s but they are creating their own dark art based on their musical roots. Sinister gospels full of atmosphere and passion are the result. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is the perfect example!
YEAR OF THE GOAT is led by Thomas Sabbathi’s groovy melodic vocals and his guitar playing, along with the two guitar gurus Jonas Mattsson and Don Palmroos, toghter they make some powerful riffage that the rythm section based on the drumm swinger Fredrik Hellerström and bass player Joona Hassinen, all this is complemented by Pope’s graceful mellotron organ.
The album is a big thrill to spin, with its captivating tunes you just suck into the creation that has been made, like a tuft of dust on the floor that is attacked by the vacuum cleaner and before the first word is said you are already sucked into the belly of the beast named Volta and hour later you wonder what the heck happened.
The new record shows that the band continues to evolve while the occult theme is intact. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is an album with majestic sound, spellbinding and elegiac melody lines that will haunt your dreams. All from the opening tune "Subortus" to the last "Subicio" is pure brilliance, you will be hooked into the finest occult rock full of blackened heart`s blood of THE GOAT. It flows thru like a Japanish knife cutting an freshly picked tomato.
The album was released on September 6th 2019 with Napalm Records
"Four years of neverending lust for creativity. For years of gluttony and decadence within our most sacred temple. For years of unspeakable boiling wrath. For years of greed filled wastefulness. Now, envy us in our moment of pride", the band states.
Sum: "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is a fantastic record
Today's tune "Superbia" is psychedelic piece with alot of energy
Today we do it with a tear in the eye and say goodbye to "Close-Up Magazine" that announced that after 28 years of total metal magazine dominance have to face the fact that money is out and the black flame is no longer burning. The magazine has been overruled by the digital media and is no longer a vital format for the readers to consume. I have been both a subscriber and lose number buyer for many years and found that this was a great magazine too for fill my needs for new music and old stories with they have been an excellent provider of. Both musically with all the extras you got as a subscriber, all the music that you never thought exist until someone on the magazine provide it to you as a reader. All the festivals they have given truly the years, you guys will be missed. Now there is only one magazine left on the Swedish soil that will bring some musical information to own as a reader, but they have more the commercial kind of music, the more straight forward and not the underground, the small bands that waves with there hands for some recognition. Close-Up will be missed and send all my love and hugs to Robban Becirovic for all these years that you have offered all your sweat, tears, money and love for the music business.
Thank you for your constant presence, all the readable interviews with all our heroes, all the new musical findings, all the gigs, and festivals, and not least for all the inspiration that you have provided during the years.
Rest in Peace, Close-Up Magazine. I hope that you will lie well in the Metal Church. Today's tune is for you!
Today's tune "Metal Church" is tune by the American heavy metal band METAL CHURCH. They originally formed in San Francisco, California in 1980 before relocating to Aberdeen, Washington. The tune is taken from their self-titled debut album was released in 1984.
The video is filmed live at Trees in Dallas, Texas on February 23, 2014.
Are you already in the right mood for Halloween? DEAF RAT definitely are! Their new single "Hail The End Of Days" is a dark and sinister hymn for the lost and forsaken that breathes the spirit of Rock’n Roll and Hard Rock legends. See the video below.
The new song foreshadows "Ban The Light", the Debut album of uprising Swedish Hard Rock Force from Dalarna, Sweden. It's set to be out on 1st November.
DEAF RAT opens the curtain on a sinister but tempting stage set from a dark musical with massive guitar riffs and strong melodies. This is the band that fills up the cracks in the ageing concrete between LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, GUNS’N’ROSES and PANTERA.
DEAF RAT are a bunch of Swedish guys, coming from different angles in Hard Rock Scene and hailing their music with a lot of dirt, darkness and melody. On their unholy mission, DEAF RAT have only one message to share with the world: Live your life to the fullest since it is the only one you have!
The passion for music may lie in the genes of DEAF RAT since their home region Dalarna in Sweden produced many great bands thrilling the music industry since years like PAIN, HYPOCRISY, TWILIGHT FORCE and SABATON.
"We're hard workers", says Frankie Rich. "If we want something done, we do it ourselves. This is definitely reflected in our music“.
One does not need to be a clairvoyant to see that the stars are all in line for DEAF RAT to become a characterizing band in Hard Rock scene in the next years. So, hold your breath, keep your eyes open and be ready for a new century to begin:
"Go big or go home” is a phrase we've all muttered, shouted, or heard multiple times in our lives. For Swedish hard rockers CRASHDÏET, it has been the motivational catch phrase since they started out back in the beginning of 2000. As fans who have followed the band know, the band has gone through a bit of turbulence in their career, with deaths, line-up changes, and a history of substance abuse that would make some legendary '80s hard rockers blush. However, the boys have also become known for picking up the pieces and returning to the fight every time they get knocked down. Their undeniable mixture of '80s arena rock with notable elements of punk has made them a significant name in the revival of the sleaze and glam (or hair metal) genre. In September they released their fifth studio album "Rust", followed by a European tour together with their neighbors in Norway, THE CRUEL INTENTIONS and Swedish punk-sleaze act HIGHRIDE, see the dates below.
CRASHDÏET released their critically acclaimed debut album “Rest in Sleaze” in the fall of 2005 through Universal Music, giving them a springboard to success in their home country of Sweden, but shortly after, in January of 2006, their frontman and founder Dave Lepard, was found dead in his home after committing suicide. The surviving members have carried on the torch since, recruiting new frontmen, touring the world and releasing studio albums to a growing fanbase.
"RUST" is CRASHDÏET's first studio album in six years and is the follow-up to the 2013 effort, "The Savage Playground". It also signifies the first album to feature the band's newest member, vocalist Gabriel Keyes, who joined the band in 2017.
"RUST" was produced by Martin Sweet (apart from two tracks produced by Eric Bazilian and Chris Laney) and mixed by Chris Laney, who previously worked with CRASHDÏET on their 2005 critically acclaimed debut, "Rest In Sleaze".
Today's tune "Rust" is the title track from their new album. Pyro on the Video is done by Thomas Emblad (Pyromania Productions AB)

Today is my birthday, congratulations and cheers can be left in the comments below, haha. Birthdays are not something big as it used to be when you were younger and longed to reach a certain age, now you just get older and older and I have stop counting my age.
One day a few days ago I ended up in front of the TV, something that I usually not do, rarely watch TV, sometimes a movie with the family or some series with the wife, some football if time exists. But here I was, waiting for a game to start, turned the TV on and did not really check what was on as I had my computer in the lap at the same time, TV was on in the background and I was totally into reading on the laptop. Suddenly I hear a melody with Finish lines and I got completely warm inside my body, never heard this before but somehow I did recognize the song. Pretty strange feeling, then after a few minutes my dad showed up in my mind, he has been dead for a long time, he died when I was 5½ years old. Could this have been something that he played when I was young, maybe, as my dad was quarter finish and spoke the language when I was a kid. Don't know really, both my parents are gone so I guess it will be a mystery. Anyway, because I am a curious soul I started to check things up, googled and listen for several hours until I found the tune "Juokse Sinä Humma". Listen to it and try to figure it out. Read all I could find about the guy behind this tune and found it pretty interesting. The only sad thing is that he died on my birthday, same as my true hero John Bonham, both guys rest in piece.
Tapio Rautavaara (March 8, 1915 – September 25, 1979) was a Finnish athlete, singer (bass-baritone) and film actor.
As a singer, Rautavaara became very popular with the Finnish people and toured for over 30 years. Although his popularity diminished somewhat in the 1970s, he continued to make his appearance as a singer until his death.
Cornelis Vreeswijk interprets several of Rautavaara's songs on the album "En Spjutkastares Visor".
Ville Valo, the frontman of the Finnish rock band HIM, regards Rautavaara as his greatest idol in Finnish music.
Today's tune "Juokse Sinä Humma" is taken from the album with the same name, released 1953.
Calgary-based hard rock metal quintet KOBRA AND THE LOTUS have returned with their new studio album "Evolution", which was released at September 20th on Napalm Records.
The new LP sees the band imbued with a new fire that comes through by way of undeniable hooks, soaring guitar riffs, marching drum beats, and the soulful, bombastic vocal delivery of lead singer Kobra Paige.
"Evolution" wad produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette )ALTER BRIDGE, LINKIN PARK, SLASH, SEVENDUST).
KOBRA AND THE LOTUS consist of:
Kobra Paige – vocals, piano,
Jasio Kulakowski – lead/rhythm guitar,
Ronny Gutierrez – lead/rhythm guitar,
Brad Kennedy – bass guitar,
Marcus Lee – drums
Today's tune "Burn" is the first single from "Evolution". A hummable riff snaps into a visceral verse as the frontwoman directly declares, "I really hate you, yes I do".
“It’s about all of the reasons you hold yourself back,” she explains. “You literally need to burn all of those feelings, stories, excuses, and obstacles keeping you from being your own authentic self. It’s super personal. It’s a product of growing and arriving as a person. I’m realizing who I am. It’s symbolic of the rebirth,” says Kobra. Enjoy!
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
After thirteen years of silence, the expectations for TOOLs upcoming fifth studio album "Fear Inoculum" were going sky high, I mean it would be almost an impossible challenge for TOOL to live up that. So finally it arrived and we can start to judge it, will the wait has been in vain or did they really manage to pull it off, well after serval spins of "Fear Inoculum" (released August 30) I do like what I hear and I'm really happy that they manage to pull it off.
"Fear Inoculum" is a massive piece to dig into, almost 87 mins of music divided into ten tunes. Or seven tunes on the physical version, CD only sofar, still waiting on the real format on this, hopefully in the future. The 10 tunes include 4 instrumental pieces that are squeezed in between the original tracks, only one instrumental on the physical version. The tunes are progressive and very melodic, the vocals are all on the long epics and all spins over the 10 mins line and all follow the same line in basic compositions and structure that follows the typical TOOL way. Jones guitars and Carey's drums are the backbones of the album and spices it up with Keenan's voice to make it more mature. All the tunes on the album have a really high class, no low points at all, excellent musicianship makes the album really funny to listen to. Even the instrumental parts stand out like the drum and synth piece "Chocolate Chip Tip". The highlights are the harmonic and rhythmic "Descending", melodic with a twisty Middle Eastern touch and the crushing doomish chorus in "Pneuma", and the progressive and heavy 15 mins majestic beast "7empest". Overall "Fear Inoculum" is an outstanding album and is absolutely worth the wait.
Sum: "Fear Inoculum" is a marvelous album.
Today's tune is the title tune from "Fear Inoculum", enjoy!
"Motorhead" is the eponymous song of the British heavy metal band of the same name. It was originally recorded by the space rock band HAWKWIND, of whom the song's author, MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, had been a member from 1971 to 1975. It was the last song that he had written for them, but it had only been released as the B-side of the single "Kings Of Speed", in March 1975. In May of that year, Lemmy was fired from HAWKWIND and formed a new band, naming it after the song. It indicated the direction in which he planned to go: hard rock, not space rock. MOTÖRHEAD recorded two new versions of the song later that year, one as part of a demo session with producer Dave Edmunds and then another as part of the sessions for what was meant to have been MOTÖRHEADs debut album. However, their record label, United Artists Records, decided to shelve the project and dropped the band without releasing any of the material. Over a year later, the song was recorded yet again for Chiswick Records, during the session for their actual debut album and was released ahead of it, in June 1977, as their second 7" single.
Initially issued with the Map of Chiswick label, it was later switched to the Big Beat label and pressed in other formats. The reverse cover is taken up almost entirely with the song's lyrics, printed in a lowercase form of blackletter. Most of the original singles have the words "a porky prime cut" inscribed on the run-out groove, indicating that the record was mastered by George Peckham. A variety of supporting messages also appear.
Chiswick also released a special 12" vinyl edition which was limited to 12,500 copies, it has the same sleeve, tracks and catalogue number – Chiswick S13.
On April 28, 1979 Lemmy was interviewed by John Tobler on BBC Radio 1's Rock on Saturday show, MOTÖRHEAD, Leaving Here and Limb from Limb were played
In September 1979 Chiswick released a 7" vinyl picture disc in two pressings, black and white, and blue and white as well as single colour pressings in black, blue, pink, orange and white vinyl – catalogued Big Beat NSP13 and NS13 respectively.
In 1981, a live recording, "Motorhead" was released as a single and reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. This single is their highest-charting single in the UK Singles Chart.
In 2008, the song was re-recorded as downloadable content for the rhythm game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, along with "Stay Clean" and "(We Are) The Road Crew".
It was covered by PRIMAL SCREAM on their 1997 album Vanishing Point.
The single was released on 10th June 1977, with "City Kids" as B-side. The Video is filmed 1981.
Witchcraft and Lucifer is something that the Cincinnati based doom metal band CULT OF SORROW have close to their hearts.
CULT OF SORROW are inspired by early heavy metal in it's most primal format. The lyrics on the bands latest release "Invocation Of The Lucifer" are based around the traditional witchcraft where the horned god, be it Lucifer, Satan, Pan, Cernunnos, etc. The music is heavy doom metal where BLACK SABBATH could be the closes reference.
"Invocation Of The Lucifer" was recorded on Candyland Recording Studio, Cover Art by Waclaw Traier @ Droned Artworks, the album was released September 20, 2019.
CULT OF SORROW consists of:
Jerry Lovett (Vocals, Guitar),
Pete Contreras (Guitar),
Joe Owen (bass),
Nate Bid (Drums)
Today's tune "Burn" is taken from the album "Invocation Of The Lucifer" by Black Doomba Records. Video produced by No Master Studio, enjoy!
Classic Heavy Metal is something that suits perfectly a Friday evening like this. The Brooklyn, New York quintet TOWER have crafted a highly proficient tune that brings us back in time when the classic heavy-metal heroes like JUDAS PRIEST, DIO and W.A.S.P. was high on the charts. With classic and intricate guitar work and the mesmerizing singer Sarabeth Linden's positively high range roars, black leather, chains and long curly hair is the way to run to keep up you interested.
TOWER was formed in the concrete jungle of New York City, TOWER produces a sound that some attempt but few can pull off. Featuring members Sarabeth Linden (lead vocals), James Danzo (guitar), Zak Penley (guitar), and Philippe Arman (bass, backup vocals).
Sarabeth Linden about the tune:
"Our single "Run for My Life" is an extremely personal song for me," reveals Linden. "It's about letting go of a relationship that no longer fits your needs and releasing the chains that once held you there".
Today's tune "Run For My Life" is taken from the upcoming EP "Tomorrow And Yesterday", the release is set at 10/18/19, enjoy!
Thursday, time for digging up a cool cover. This time we have a true classic that gets some distorted riffs with a whiskey soar vocal.
“Cocaine” is a epic classic by JJ Cale, the song was written and recorded in 1976. The song was popularized by Eric Clapton after his cover version was released on the 1977 album "Slowhand".
Today's cover is a modern rocker with the Norwegian fuzzed-out intergalactic stoner rock band KAL-EL, their music is a step-child of hard rock and heavy metal, you know, a bass-heavy groove, detuned guitars, and fuzz-pedals set max, often with hints of pyschedelic and blues rock as well as doom metal.
Today's tune "Cocaine", here is a clip with Erik Torp, Live at Corner Pub & Diskotek 30.11.2018, enjoy!
The German/Swedish industrial metal super-duo LINDEMANN featuring lead vocalist Till Lindemann of Neue Deutsche Härte band RAMMSTEIN, along with multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren of Swedish death metal band HYPOCRISY and industrial metal project PAIN. Tägtgren defines it as "a baby between RAMMSTEIN and PAIN – at least it's a mix of RAMMSTEIN vocals and PAIN music."
Now they have shared a new song from their collaborative project LINDEMANN.
"Steh Auf" is the duo’s first new material since their 2015 album "Skills in Pills". The single is taken from their newly announced second record, "F & M", which is due for release on November 22.
LINDEMANNs 2015 debut album featured lyrics written and sung entirely in English in a first for Till Lindemann, who until then had sung a few words in English in RAMMSTEINs music. On "Steh Auf" Till sings in his native German. His work with RAMMSTEIN is forever envelope-pushing in its fearless experimentation, but something about Till Lindemann's output with his solo project has an even more surreal vibe that complements the German singer's brutish sex appeal in a compelling, never clichéd way. Said project's latest offering, "Steh Auf", is an anthemic instruction to "Stand up!", and with the driving beat and symphonic flourishes behind him, you'll surely do as Till commands.
Today's tune "Steh Auf" is the first single from the upcoming album "F & M", The music video featured Swedish actor Peter Stormare. Enjoy today's tune!
The Okanagan Valley boys GOMORRAH released thier second selftitled album already in March 22nd, 2019. Got my attention during the hot summer days in July. This is powerful technical death metal that is catchy, beautiful and freaking brutal at the same time. It's like a mix between BEHEMOTH and DREAM THEATER :)
GOMORRAH consists of the vocalist Jeff Bryan and guitarist Bowen Matheson.
Just check out todays tune "Ember" with the ambient intro, groovy growling and excellent technical rhythmic guitar work and the flawless pownding fills by the hired drummer Hannes Grossman (HATE ETERNAL, ALKALOID, ex-NECROPHAGIST/OBSCURA).
Today's tune "Ember" taken from the Canadian Technical Death Metal GOMORRAH's selftitled release by Willowtip Records, enjoy!
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".
In the midst river's of all album releases, that I already bathe in albums that are waiting for my attention. I pick up an album that has got plenty of spins that I need to recommend further to the masses. All started with a recommendation by a good friend "Chief Rebel Angel" at Heavymetale. He wrote a text that caught my attention and I gave it a chance... a few spins on the digital platform I got hooked and order the album online.
I'm talking about the Europeans in the Death Metal band HEADS FOR THE DEAD and their album "Serpents Curse".
From the fathomless dark realms of the occult comes HEADS FOR THE DEAD. The band was formed by Hauber (REVEL IN FLESH) and Pettersson (URSINNE, WOMBBATH, HENRY KANE) to deliver a deadly mixture of extreme dark Metal madness ranging from Death-, Doom- Crust and Black Metal, combined with an atmosphere of filth and horror.
"Serpents Curse" have some guest, members of SENTIENT HORROR (Matt Moliti) and WOMBBATH (Håkan Stuvemark) has helped to liven up the tunes with their guest solos on a few tracks, the session drummer of DOWN AMONG THE DEAD MEN (Erik Bevenrud) have smashed the leather on this album. The Artwork by Branca Studio (PARADISE LOST, BEASTMAKER) and the Logo by Mark Riddick (FETID ZOMBIE).
"Serpents Curse" opens up with the title tune, a horror full piece of doomish death "throw your head in the sidewalk metal" in the best manner, old school Swedish death metal is the main influences, well played with the little extra to keep me alive and kicking. The whole album keeps a very good class. Speeds vary from slow doomish, and occult like tunes "Deep Below" and "The Awakening" to high octane, ferocious tunes like "Post Mortem Suffering" and "Death Calls", both tune are just over a minute long. "Gate Creeper" and "Heads For The Dead" is pounding away triumphantly, great pieces of music and the horror heavy tune "Of Wrath And Vengeance" is a true killer. The album ends with a hair-raising cover of WOLFBRIGADES's "In Darkness You Feel No Regrets". An excellent album release that should not be passed.
Sum: Death and Horror ridden Metal of the highest quality, check it up!
Today's tune "Serpents Curse" is the title tune from HEADS FOR THE DEAD 2nd album, released on Transcending Obscurity Records, 24 September 2018, enjoy!
BRAINTICKET is an experimental European krautrock band most active in the early 1970s, and known for its use of exotic instruments and jazz-inspired compositions. The only constant member has been Belgian musician Joel Vandroogenbroeck. The band continues to perform concerts and release albums in the 2000s.
BRAINTICKET was founded by Joel Vandroogenbroeck (born Brussels, 25 August 1938), a Belgian who grew up studying classical piano before switching to jazz. He received the Art Tatum prize as “youngest jazz pianist” at the age of fifteen and toured around Europe and Africa including performances with the Quincy Jones Orchestra at the World Exhibition in Brussels and the RAI symphony of Rome. By the late 1960s, Vandroogenbroeck was still playing jazz but he found new inspiration in German krautrock artists AMON DÜÜL II, CAN and TANGERINE DREAM. Under the influence of these groups, Joel and guitarist Ron Bryer recruited drummer Wolfgang Paap and formed the trio that would become BRAINTICKET.
Today's tune is taken from the group’s 1971 debut album "Cottonwoodhill" featured British vocalist Dawn Muir. "Cottonwoodhill" immediately ran into controversy for its association with psychedelic drugs. Much to Vandroogenbroeck's disgust, the album came with a warning label that insisted you should "After Listening to this Record, your friends may not know you anymore" and "Only listen to this once a day. Your brain might be destroyed!" which led to the album being banned in several countries including the USA.
Today's tune "Black Sand" taken from the debut album "Cottonwoodhill" (1971), the clip is live from the "Space Rock Invasion Tour", enjoy!
