We are very excited that this time we got to work with director Amir Chamdin and photographer Crille Forsberg on our videos. Their body of work is quite breathtaking, if you look it up, so it was a real honor. The video to ‘Bring Me His Head’ is only one part of the story but we can’t give anything more away at this point.”

"Vertigo" is the fourth album by the Finnish 🇫🇮 occult rock band JESS AND THE ANCIENT ONES.
A band that has been around since 2010 where the psychedelic rock and tentative progressive rock have been their trade mark over the years.
Across eight tracks, "Vertigo" provide us with 40 minutes of occult rock where they capture that late 60s/early 70s heavy psych blues sound that they do best. Not as dark as the black and white tornado cover gives itself a gleam of. The white is more creamy white with a few drops of yellow, red and green. The album have some horror film samples added to the ominously retro vibe. The sound is fresh and cripsy in it's own oldieness. The musicanship is very tight and well played. The tunes are well-written and very moreish full of character and charisma. Great guitar playing by Thomas Corpse. Jess’s vocals are very powerful and soulful infectious which lifts the whole ship with its presence. The organs from Abraham are dominated and works just perfect to give the sound the extra dynamic soundscape. The rythm section is very powerful made of the bass player Fast Jake and drummer and percussion by Yussuf.
From the opening Hitchcock horror intro in "Burning Of The Velvet Fires", a groovy piece, with wonderful organ playing and excellent vocals give us a helluva start of this record. "World Paranormal" is another great tune where the mind fly away back to the heyday of the JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, popish attitude with a very catchy chours and almost danceable rythms. "Talking Board" is a spooky piece with a darker layout and a horrified powerful background laughter. The single "Love Zombi" is a very powerful piece with a very groovy melody and catchy vocal and killer organs. "Summer Tripping Man" is a 60's garage rocker that sounds a little like THE DOORS on crack. "Born To Kill" is flowing in a more heavier landscape while "What’s On Your Mind" takes another direction into the progressive and psychedelic world. The album closes up with "Strange Earth Illusion", a real beast that passes the eleven minute mark, heavy psychedelic blues where Jess progressive vocal style gives a real spark to this piece, excellent guitar-leds, marvelous bass runs and where drums and cymbals sit like a sledgehammer, just magic. "Vertigo" is a marvelous album with a great selection of tunes written by guitarist Thomas Corpse.
"Vertigo" was released on 21 May 2021 by Svart Records.
Lineup:
Jess – Vocals
Thomas Corpse – Guitars
Fast Jake – Bass

"Vertigo", is the upcoming album from JESS AND THE ANCIENT ONES, to be released on May 21 by Svart Records. The first video for single for "Summer Tripping Man" is out now.
The Savonian occult rock behemoth JESS AND THE ANCIENT ONES have emerged with a new album. Their brand of heavy guitar and organ-led swagger has progressed from the twin guitar metal blast of yesteryear to Jess And The Ancient Ones’ very own take on soulful late sixties garage psychedelia.
What began on the previous record, The Horse & Other Weird Tales is taken further and deeper, towards a conclusion on Vertigo. Songwriter and guitarist Thomas Corpse comments, “To me this album sounds like a dark horse – a brother to the previous album. There’s a strange ominous feeling that hovers upon the entire album, maybe it’s the feeling of nostalgia that’s arising from the lyrics.”
Wrapped in a crude tornado-adorned old school sleeve, the album’s eight tracks bubble in a boiling cauldron of vintage pop culture influence and occult-tinged paranoia. Ranging from the softly fiery opening track ‘Burning of The Velvet Fires’ to the almost heavy metal -ish nihilistic banger “Born To Kill”, Vertigo is a spiraling journey of heavy Finnish psych rock at its finest.
Today's tune "Summer Tripping Man" is taken from the forthcoming album "Vertigo" out via Svart Records on the 21st of May 2021. Video by Giuliano di Girolamo. Enjoy!
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".
"III" is the return of the Swedish hard rockers LUCIFER. A band that has really grown for every release and now with the 3rd release it sounds like they finally reached the point where they were aiming for. It's music straight from the seventies that is well executed on all layers.
It's occult hard rock with doom, horror and gothic darkness where they pull the best from hard rock
influences without losing themselves into the unknown, they have created an album that is well thought true, the beautiful vocals from Johanna Sadonis adepts into the musical flow like a water stream, intertwines with the guitars take part in excellent soaring vocals and guitar harmonies and tremendous retro vibes. The guitar work here is particularly memorable, the riffing and the solos is very clever and smart without being strained. The bass lines are thick and smooth and the drums are tasteful. The lyrics cover the occult, death and the devil. The music is catchy and really fun to play, get you into a good mood on uncertain times like this.
From the down-tuned opener "Ghosts" that kickstarts this album in a tastefully old school way of riffing with a catchy melody to switch over to "Midnight Phantom" that shows some magic vocals and heavy infectious guitar riffs. The beauty of the guitars opens up the bleak softness of "Leather Demon", a half paced ballad that accelerates a few in the chouses and sums everything up with neat and tremendous guitar solo. Thick opening of excellent "Lucifer", cleaver riffing and solos with marvelous vocals from Sadonis. Crafty guitar hook and some tasty solos in the dark and gloomy "Pacific Blues" to the smokier and gothic tune "Coffin Fever". Some high-octane thrills in "Flanked By Snakes" to the somber closer "Cemetery Eyes". "Lucifer III" is a combination of the band’s prior works, that they have overthrown a bit, it's an absolute flourishing occult rock release from front to back, well-done guys.
The legendary horror poster artist Graham Humphreys hand-painted "Lucifer III"'s cover. The album was released on March 20th, 2020.

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record of The Week".
Swedish occult rock masters YEAR OF THE GOAT have returned with their 3rd opus "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis"
YEAR OF THE GOAT is recognizably influenced by the music of the 60’s and 70’s but they are creating their own dark art based on their musical roots. Sinister gospels full of atmosphere and passion are the result. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is the perfect example!
YEAR OF THE GOAT is led by Thomas Sabbathi’s groovy melodic vocals and his guitar playing, along with the two guitar gurus Jonas Mattsson and Don Palmroos, toghter they make some powerful riffage that the rythm section based on the drumm swinger Fredrik Hellerström and bass player Joona Hassinen, all this is complemented by Pope’s graceful mellotron organ.
The album is a big thrill to spin, with its captivating tunes you just suck into the creation that has been made, like a tuft of dust on the floor that is attacked by the vacuum cleaner and before the first word is said you are already sucked into the belly of the beast named Volta and hour later you wonder what the heck happened.
The new record shows that the band continues to evolve while the occult theme is intact. "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is an album with majestic sound, spellbinding and elegiac melody lines that will haunt your dreams. All from the opening tune "Subortus" to the last "Subicio" is pure brilliance, you will be hooked into the finest occult rock full of blackened heart`s blood of THE GOAT. It flows thru like a Japanish knife cutting an freshly picked tomato.
The album was released on September 6th 2019 with Napalm Records
"Four years of neverending lust for creativity. For years of gluttony and decadence within our most sacred temple. For years of unspeakable boiling wrath. For years of greed filled wastefulness. Now, envy us in our moment of pride", the band states.
Sum: "Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis" is a fantastic record
Today's tune "Superbia" is psychedelic piece with alot of energy
