THE GRAVELTONES are a 2 piece heavy blues rock and roll band consisting of members Jimmy O (guitar/vocals) and Mikey Sorbello (drums). The band are currently based in London. THE GRAVELTONES are influenced by artists such as Captain Beefheart, John Lee Hooker and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
THE GRAVELTONES have filmed a live version of their single "World On A String" for TeamRock, see it below.
"World On A String" comes from the band’s latest album "Love Lies Dying", released June 1st 2015. "World On A String" was released on April 13. Rumors says that something new is in the pipeline, interesting. Enjoy!
DEMON HEAD has released a video from their brand new "The Resistance" seven inch vinyl. The new release is a epilogue to the bands last album "Thunder on the Fields", the release contains two stories that will enthrall the listener.
The B-side "Rivers of Mars" is a haunting rock song that somehow blends the scene of a forest night with the discovery of water on the Red Planet - our closest, still unknown neighbor world. On this song, we let the vibe of recording in a wooden winter house take us and the music over. Could it be that we are not alone?
Today's tune "The Resistance" is the timeless narrative of the struggles and nightmares of an underground, partisan movement in the face of totalitarian power. We have crafted the music as a sinister rock soundtrack to tell this tale: our homage to those who defy tyranny. The single was released on the 20th of April on The Sign Records. Enjoy!
The American blues-rock musician Patrick Sweany from Massillon, Ohio, United States, is preparing him self for a home-bound tour supporting his latest release "Ancient Noise", see the dates below.
In June 2007, Sweany released another full-length album, "Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone",once again it was recorded by Dan Auerbach, this time in his newly fashioned Akron Analog studios. A great tune on the album called "Them Shoes" is today's tune. Enjoy!

LEFT LANE CRUISERs third album for Alive Naturalsound records could be considered, in many ways, their best effort yet. "Junkyard Speed Ball" brings in the elements of the heavy, heart thumping, trash blues stomp they're known for, but it also showcases a wider range, with some slower numbers that will make you groove.
Recorded in Detroit by Jim Diamond, LEFT LANE CRUISER is joined by none other than Revrend James Leg (aka John Wesley Myers) of the BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES playing keyboard on five songs, with his distinctive style undoubtedly bringing a new color to the duo sound. This whiskey fueled two man frenzy of blues-driven rock’n’roll noise straight from Fort Wayne, Indiana was formed by Freddy J. Evans IV (guitar/vocals) and Brenn "Sausage Paw" Beck (drummer/percussion/vocals), and hailing from Fort Wayne IN, LEFT LANE CRUISER has been bringing its unique style of high octane punk blues (aka deep blues) to fans all over the world, slowly gaining recognition from the press : Assimilates the Mississippi Delta blues laid down by guys like Big Joe Williams and Son House and cultivates it into a country punk blues speedball (Popmatters).
"Most say it's a blues band, but they are also a hard rock band with a lot of Southern fried attitude. They are their own category. Call them Industrial Redneck, or Country Trash." (Atlanta Music Guide). Reminds me of live CRAMPS, RL Burnside, and even old Henry Rollins.
Today's tune "Lost My Mind", filmed live @ Founders Brewery - Taproom 11/29/12, taken from the album "Junkyard Speed Ball", enjoy!
"Grand Rites" is the second album release from the Heavy Metal/Stoner Rock band DEAD QUIET.
DEAD QUIET hails from Vancouver, BC and was formed in 2013 from the ashes of the guitarist and vocalist Kevin Keegan’s former band, BARN BURNER, and the rest of the band members ain't any rookies, on bass we have Aaron “Boon” Gustafson (ANCIIENTS, ex-3 INCHES OF BLOOD (live), ex-SPREADEAGLE), on guitars Brock MacInnes (ANCIIENTS, TOBEATIC, ex-VENOMOUS TUSK, PERCHERON, ROTTING HILLS, THE BLOOD RIVER BAND, ex-HAMMER OF HADES), on keyboards Justin Hagberg (WORSE, BLACK WIZARD (live), ALLFATHER, ex-3 INCHES OF BLOOD, KLANDESTIN, RITUAL DICTATES, ex-ROADRUNNER UNITED, ex-THE VILLAIN AVIAN SYMPHONY) and on drums Jason Dana (ex-KAREN FOSTER, ex-SPREADEAGLE).
DEAD QUIETs follow up album "Grand Rites" is a mixture of 70s hard rock and melodic doom metal. An album where they seek to meld melody with catastrophe as they weave through a dissonant landscape of crushing metallic riffs and somber choral musings.
The album opens up with "Moon Curser" a classic layout with a big and catchy chorus, heavy riffing with powerful keyboards and an intensity vocalist that takes a step forward and releases his pain and anguish as a rough-haired alpha male. It follows up by "Blood Lovers", that opens up with a melodic guitar string until the stomping rhythm section jumps along, a great and really fun tune. "Corpse Revival" is a more thrashier piece, heavy, screamy, sludge and very enjoyable. "Disgraced" & "Fucking Oath" turn the mood down a notch with a half-paced melody, cleaner vocal, slightly easier playing. "Spiritual Abuse" follows the same path but with a more harsher vocal. "Dear Demon" opens up with acoustic guitars, whiskey-soaked vocal, the tune builds up slowly, heavy bass licks, thundering riffing and more angry vocals and a catchy chorus, see the video below. "Old Hopeless" is a real rocker with great and bombastic melody. The album closes up with the title track "Grand Rites", a tune that blends the whole album into one tune, soft melody, neatly guitar playing, clean vocals to harsh and heavy riffing, screaming and anarchy drumming.
DEAD QUIETs new album "Grand Rites" is a very impressive genre-spanning journey.
My beautiful blue vinyl version of the album.
Today's tune "Dear Demon" taken from "Grand Rites", enoy!

"Ride with Captain Max" is a tune from the debut album "Contrasts", from the South Wales progressive rockers in BLONDE ON BLONDE.
"Contrasts" was released 1969.
This Welch band has delivered an album that is exemplary of the progressive rock period. Songwriting is key to a great album and this group has certainly delivered the goods. "Ride With Captain Max" is a masterful display of guitar rock.
BLONDE ON BLONDE borrowed it's name from the title of Bob Dylan's 1966 Magnum Opus. The two artists have NO relationship though both played at the Isle Of Wight festival in 1970. "Our" BLONDE ON BLONDE disbanded in 1972.
The band was formed in Newport in 1967 by vocalist/guitarist Ralph Denyer, drummer Les Hicks, bassist/organist Richard Hopkins and guitarist/sitar player Gareth Johnson.

The story of DE UNDERJORDISKE is a marvelous, metamorphic one. Three men who barely performed or played music, starts a band with a cleared musicality. A couple of years later, they play at Roskilde and released an album that got banned on the radio.
DE UNDERJORDISKE plays Danish-language rock, combining the 80's guitar pop with the 60's psychedelic sound patterns. The songs pendulate between captivating up-tempo numbers and massive melodies with texts that revolve around liberation, spirituality and love. They are emotional and overground, which draws threads to the lyrical tradition of the 60's and romance.
The two guitarists, brothers and sisters Kristian and Andreas Bengtsen, started together with singer Peter Kure DE UNDERJORDISKE back in 2012. The crew also consists of Thomas Brandt on drums and Anders Hvass on bass. The group really broke through in 2015 with the debut album "Ind i Flammerne" and has built a solid reputation as one of the country's most prominent live bands. Top performing performances on Skanderborg and Roskilde Festival made a nomination for Danish Music Awards in 2016 as the Danish livelihood of the year.
Today's tune "Flænger i Luften" is the title tune from the latest album by DE UNDERJORDISKE, enjoy!
"Can You Cook?" is the brand new single and title tune from the upcoming album by the bluesman Seasick Steve. Set to be released 28th September 2018.
‘Can U Cook?’ has been Steve mixing up all of his much-loved ingredients to deliver a fresh new record that’s full of sunshine, as well as being a good ol’ Seasick mix of boogie, blues, rock, americana and folk-music.
Produced and written by Seasick Steve, this will be Steve’s ninth studio album and was mostly recorded in a converted ice house on the dock in Key West, Florida.
Steve’s longtime drummer Dan Magnusson (a.k.a. Crazy Dan) is of course featured on the record, along with some amazing playing contributions from guitarist Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars). Luther is now part of the touring band for the forthcoming tour dates, see the dates below.
Steven Gene Wold ,commonly known as Seasick Steve, is an American blues musician. He plays mostly personalized guitars and sings, usually about his early life doing casual work.
Today's tune "Can U Cook?" taken from the upcoming album, the video is live from a performance @ Mainstage in Arras . Can You Cook on only one string. Strange guy but a great artist.

"Cumbé", a tune that was recorded live at their Lumbini studio in Ixtapa, Mexico, gives a tantalizing glimpse their new album currently in the works and according to a press release the title of the tune translates to “the dance of people of color.”
The pair also revealed that they will release their fifth studio record in “early 2019,” and they’ve scheduled a lengthy US tour, including stops at the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, and more, see the dates below.
Rodrigo y Gabriela (Rodrigo and Gabriela) are a Mexican classical guitar duo whose music is influenced by a number of genres including nuevo flamenco, rock, and heavy metal. The duo's recordings consist largely of instrumental duets on the flamenco guitar. Currently residing in Mexico City, they began their career in Dublin, Ireland, during an eight-year stay. Internationally acclaimed guitar hero Michael Romeo has announced the release of his eagerly anticipated first official solo album, "War of the Worlds / Pt. 1", released July 27th thru Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group. The wildly ambitious 10-song album sees the founder, chief songwriter and prime mover of the progressive titans SYMPHONY X furthering his reputation as one of the world's preeminent axe slingers and composers of adventurous, multi-faceted orchestral metal.
The album is inspired by the homonymous novel by H. G. Wells and incorporates elements of EDM, dubstep and classical music, inspired by movie score composers such as Bernard Herrmann and John Williams. Most of it was created when SYMPHONY X's vocalist Russell Allen was still recovering from the road accident he suffered one year before while on tour with ADRENALINE MOB Mob (in which his bandmate David Zablidowsky and tour manager Jane Train died) and the other members were involved with other projects. Michael hired three musicians he's known for a while, including bassist John DeServio, with whom he went to high school together.
Two lyric videos, one for "Djinn" (see below) and another for "Fear of the Unknown", were released on 29 June and 18 July, respectively. According to Romeo, a sequel, "War of the Worlds, Pt. 2", is already at the final stages of recording, but will take a while to be released because he wants people "to absorb the first one for a while, and then we'll put out the second record. They'll complement each other, but they'll also be a bit different".
Michael Romeo: "This is one of my favorite riffs on the album. The album title is 'War of the Worlds', but in this case, the 'Worlds' refers to the worlds of politics and religion."
Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
"Devouring Radiant Light" is the latest and their sixth album release by the Ohio extreme metalheads SKELETONWITCH. With the latest effort, they have polished up the thrash of their past in favor of nuanced black metal with a new vocalist Adam Clemans (Clemans is known for his time in his black metal band, WOLVHAMMER) who took over Chance Garnette duties after he did falling out from the band.
The band currently consists of bassist Evan Linger, lead guitarist Nate Garnette, rhythm guitarist Scott Hedrick, and vocalist Adam Clemans. Jon Rice is currently filling in as drummer for tour purposes. And with some new blood in the band a new direction was set into new sonic boundaries.
"Devouring Radiant Light" is a bold and wicked step forward for the band, a very melodic and exciting record to listen to. The album fires off with the lead single "Fen Of Shadows", an eight minutes long masterpiece, right here you will hear the difference between the old and new and get a grasp on what's to follow. Good or bad, well that's up to the listner to judge, but I do like what I hear. Clemans vocals is amazingly good, harsh and angry which suits this supreme. The music, is heavy, fast and extremly well played. "Temple Of Sun", a real heavy piece, harsh vocals, thundering riffing and heavily melodic and black metal inspired instrumentals.
And the creeping intro that opens up "The Vault" really gives me the creep, it's also the longest tune on the album with heavy riffing. "Carnarium Eternal" is a speedy and powerful piece. The album closes really neatly with "Sacred Soil"
This is a very strong blackened album by SKELETONWITCH that I really recomend that you check out!
Devouring Radiant Light was released on Friday, July 13 on Prosthetic and their robust production (once again courtesy of CONVERGE guitarist and board masterman Kurt Ballou).
Today's tune "Fen Of Shadows" taken from "Devouring Radiant Light", enjoy!
"Think" is a song performed by American singer Aretha Franklin. It was released as single in 1968, from her "Aretha Now" album. The song, a feminist anthem, reached No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100, becoming Franklin's seventh top 10 hit in the United States. The song also reached number 1 on the magazine's Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles, becoming her sixth single to top the chart. The song was written by Aretha and then husband Ted White. Franklin re-recorded the song in 1989 for the album Through the "Storm". Pitchfork Media placed it at number 15 on its list of "The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s"
The song is performed by a lead vocalist, backing vocalists, a brass section, organ, piano, two electric guitars, bass, and percussion. The personnel on the original recording included Aretha Franklin on piano, Wayne Jackson on trumpet, Andrew Love and Charles Chalmers on tenor sax, Floyd Newman or Willie Bridges on baritone sax, Spooner Oldham on organ, Jerry Jemmott on bass, Tommy Cogbill and Jimmy Johnson on guitars and Roger Hawkins on drums.
Franklin lip-synched to a new, longer version of the song in a musical sequence of the 1980 film The Blues Brothers. This version appears on the film soundtrack album, and in addition to Franklin's singing features backup vocals from Franklin's sisters, Carolyn and Erma, and a recurring sax riff performed by The Blues Brothers' saxophonist Lou Marini. Because Franklin was not used to lip-syncing, this sequence required a number of takes and considerable editing. Franklin re-recorded the song for Mothers Against Drunk Driving as a public service announcement during the late 1980s. In the 2017 animated film Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Adam Lambert sang the song.
Aretha Louise Franklin (March 25, 1942 – August 16, 2018) was an American singer, songwriter and pianist. She began her career as a child singing gospel at New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, where her father, C. L. Franklin, was minister. In 1960, at the age of 18, she embarked on a secular career, recording for Columbia Records but achieving only modest success. After signing to Atlantic Records in 1967, Franklin achieved commercial acclaim and success with songs such as "Respect", Think", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", "Don't Play That Song (You Lied)", and "Spanish Harlem".
On August 13, 2018, Franklin was reported to be gravely ill at her home in Riverfront Towers, Detroit. She was reported to be under hospice care and surrounded by friends and family. Stevie Wonder, Jesse Jackson, and ex-husband Glynn Turman, among others, visited her on her deathbed. Franklin died at her home on August 16, 2018, aged 76. The cause was reported to be pancreatic cancer.
In a land of giants, Aretha Franklin stood as one of the tallest. She had the soul of a lion, the strength of a warrior and the voice of unparalleled power and conviction. Today's tune is for you Aretha, R.I.P.

When HUNTRESS shot from zero to hero with their debut EP "Off With Her Head" in 2010, they made quite a few heads turn: an Amazonian, breathtaking singer in the form of Jill Janus and her 4-octave vocal range, a rich occult background and razor-sharp heavy metal. "Static" – the third album by HUNTRESS – easily poses the most exciting and perfectly arranged release by Huntress to date: a feast of both flesh and spirituality! Timeless metal elegance, aggressive outbursts and sweeping melodies bring Static to life!
HUNTRESS singer Jill Janus has died by suicide. She was only 43 years old.
Jill's family and bandmates have released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Jill Janus — frontwoman for the California heavy metal band HUNTRESS — passed away on Tuesday, August 14. A longtime sufferer of mental illness, she took her own life outside of Portland, Oregon. Janus spoke publicly about these challenges in hopes of guiding others to address and overcome their mental illness.
"Janus was a truly special creative involved with numerous musical projects including her role as vocalist for female metal/hard rock cover bands THE STARBREAKERS and CHELSEA GIRLS. In addition, Janus was co-composer and creator of an upcoming rock opera with TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA's Angus Clark and had a decade-long career as NYC DJ Penelope Tuesdae. Her musical career began in childhood.
"Beyond her accomplishments in the music world and her advocacy for mental health issues, she was a beautiful person passionate about her family, animal rescue and the world of natural medicine. She will be missed more than she could have ever known.
Today's tune "Sorrow" is taken from the third and final album "Static", by the Highland Park, California heavy metal band HUNTRESS. It was released on September 25, 2015. A music video for the song "Sorrow" was released on September 25, 2015. R.I.P. Jill Janus.

"Breadfan" is a heavy metal song originally recorded by BUDGIE, appearing on their 1973 album "Never Turn Your Back on a Friend". The title refers to a person's relationship to money, "bread" being slang for money. The lyrics highlight the moral dilemmas on what to do with money; keep it, give it away, spend it and to ultimately be free of it and not to let it rule your life.
Today's cover is made by the Welsh trio FLORENCE BLACK, taken from their "The Final EP". Recorded by Jeff Rose. Written by BUDGIE. Performed by FLORENCE BLACK, enjoy!
Way Out West is now finally over, a festival that one is actually looking forward to each year. This was my 11th year in Slottsskogen, Gothenburg. This time we got very mixed weather, I mean very mixed, not just rain that we usually tampered with, but now we also got thunderstorms that stopped building on two occasions, a storm that passed thru and collected everything loose with it, signs, tents, fence cover, ash trays, etc. It was not only misery, one festival day with sun :)
The lineup for Wow was as usually very varied, where Thåström was crowned as king of the forest. Iggy Pop an long-standing artist that still keeps rocking, a cruel concert from a awesome artist. Patti Smith delivered and Kamasi Washington had a fabulous swing. Besides this, it was a fantastic bunch of peoples that worked really hard to make this to be the best festival ever, and the vegan ice cream tasted surprisingly good, the food was ok to be vegetarian, but I sadly missed the test of the Eco Gin. Overall the score for this year's festival was high.
So let's leave the Indie/Pop tunes and call back the some Flat out guitar rock.
KOSMIK BOOGIE TRIBE (KBT) is also known as LOBBY LOYDE IS THE REASON.
KBT is a five piece rock and roll group based in Oslo, Norway. Each member originally hails from different rural parts of Norway but have been living in the capital for ages and have all been part of different aspects of the Oslo rock underground as bartenders, sound engineers, band hosts, booking agents and the lot for years and years at various clubs and venues. They literally live and breathe rock’n’roll.
The members also contribute in different ways with recording artists such as THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE ZUGLY, LONELY KAMEL, BACKSTREET GIRLS, THE MORMONES, COCKROACH CLAN and others.
Today's tune "We’ve Got The Cash" is taken from "We’re Not Here to Fu*k Spiders", The third release from Norwegian quintet! The album is an incendiary slab of no-bullshit, gutbucket rock n’ roll.
Since the release of her debut EP Little Bit in 2008, Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li has become an iconic staple of the indie-pop world with a decade spanning career. With four acclaimed albums under her belt amassing over a quarter of a billion Spotify streams, Lykke has accrued endless accolades. From “Best Album of the Year” nods from the likes of The New York Times and Rolling Stone to performing on the renowned stages of music festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella and Lollapalooza. June 2018 Lykke Li released her fourth studio album so sad so sexy to widespread critical acclaim. Her performance at Way Out West will be her only Swedish performance this summer.
In 2016-2017, she was busy nurturing, liv, her love child with Andrew Wyatt, Björn Yttling, Pontus Winnberg & Jeff Bhasker – a project that allowed the collective to mutually have a creative outlet.
Lykke Li did perform in Slottsskogen on Saturday, August 11.
Today's tune "Never Gonna Love Again" is taken from the third studio album "I Never Learn", released on 2 May 2014 by LL Recordings and Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Li, Björn Yttling and Greg Kurstin. It spawned the singles "No Rest for the Wicked", "Gunshot" and "Never Gonna Love Again".
Few bands have been so characteristic for their time as POPSICLE. With classic hits like Sunkissed, "Hey Princess" and "Not Forever" they became the soundtrack for many people’s 90’s. Now they are back and ready to take on Linné stage at Way Out West.
POPSICLE is a pop group in Piteå in Sweden, which together with THIS PERFECT DAY, THE WANNADIES and BRAINPOOL started the 1990s indiepop wave in Sweden.
POPSICLE may have laid the foundations of the Swedish indie scene, but it was not until four years later as the band played through to a wider audience, that they had their biggest hit - the single and today's tune "Not Forever" from the self-titled third album.
