Trouble - Plastic Green Head

Trouble is an American doom metal band noted as one of the pioneers of their genre, alongside bands such as Candlemass and Saint Vitus. Trouble's music lies with a traditional doom metal style, although their later albums showcase a more stoner-metal oriented style. The band could best be described as combining the riffs and tempos of Black Sabbath with the twin guitar attack of Judas Priest.

Trouble disbanded in 1996, but reformed six years later to release its seventh studio album on Escapi Music.
The nucleus of the band have been vocalist Eric Wagner (replaced as of late by Kory Clarke, ex Warrior Soul), guitarists Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin, and drummer Jeff Olson.

Trouble's performed yesterday at Debaser Medis/Stockholm Sweden as part of "Dynasty Of Doom" This is a classic band, that really notice, well played rock doom with a nice vocal of Kory Clarke, even if it sounded a little overstrain, but not bad at all, have been listen to their live album thats recorded not long ago and it sounded much as this so i think he is a good replacement for Eric. Great tunes, very old school. I think this was the first time i saw this band live and they did a good job.

Todays tune is the title track from their sixth album "Plastic Green Head", released in 1995.
This video is with Eric, couldn't find a decent one with Kory. Enjoy!

Candlemass - A Sorcerer's Pledge

Candlemass are a Swedish/Texan five piece doom metal band. The band established in the 1980s by Leif Edling. Candlemass did a show at Debaser Medis, Stockholm, yesterday with 2 other bands, Trouble and Angel Witch. Missed the first act but i heard that they did good and the merchandise guy sold all their shirts :) I did see Trouble, but i leave that for tomorrow. Candlemass is a windy band, many changes during the years, last try with the most popular singer Messiah didn't work out, but he was always fun to both see and hear live. Many of the fans don't like the new Texan singer Robert Lowe (SOLITUDE AETURNUS) who picked up the microphone in 2007. But somehow i like him, he has a very powerful voice and a good charisma on stage, yesterdays gig was heavy, well played and performed, good sound and lightning. So it was a great gig indeed. They also played many of the great tunes that Candlemass has made during the years in a good mix of the new once. Didn't work this evening so i was lucky to be a civilian for a chance and see a concert for real and not with a half eye and also a chance to shoot some pictures. Haven't fixed the once from the system camera yet so this is from the compact, but still its better than nothing :)

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus was the debut album with Candlemass, the album was released June 10, 1986 on Black Dragon Records. It was re-issued in 2003 with a bonus live CD. The album title Epicus Doomicus Metallicus is a Dog Latin rendering of "Epic Doom Metal", the genre with which the band is most commonly identified. Many listeners might be unaware that on debut album the vocal duties were not covered by Messiah, but by a certain Johan Langquist. Messiah joined for their second effort, “Nightfall”.

Todays tune "A Sorcerer's Pledge" is taken from the debut album and the video is a little over one month old and with Robert Lowe on the vocal, its recorded at Paranoid Festival in Ljubečna, Slovenia. 13th aug 2009, Enjoy it!

Magnum - Don't Wake The Lion

Magnum are a British Melodic Rock band from Birmingham, England.
Formed as a four piece band back in 1972 by Tony Clarkin (guitar), Bob Catley (vocals), Kex Gorin (drums) and Bob Doyle (bass). Magnum have had several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin remain today. Other band members who are active in todays Magnum is Al Barrow on the Bass Guitar, Mark Stanway on Keyboards and Jimmy Copley on Drums & Percussion (Harry James on Drums atm when they are touring)Harry was a fulltime member of the British band Thunder.

Yesterday Magnum visit Stockholm and Debaser for a show. As for the 3:rd gig in Sweden on this tour, first in Malmö then Gothenburg and now finaly in Stockholm. The crew was a nice bunch of British guys, but they were a little bit pissed about yesterday as it didnt work out to well with the local crew. Anyway, the gear got in place and time for some soundcheck and holymoses... Bob Catley, the little man from Birmingham went on stage and he actually growed to a giant. His voice is intact even if you can hear that he has grown up. The opening act this evening was M.ill.ion a Swedish heavy metal band formed in 1989 in Gothenburg by bass player B.J. Laneby. According to B.J. Laneby the dots in M.ill.ion was used "just to mess peoples mind up" :)

M.ill.ion did a pretty good show and got most of the crowd with them.
Magnum entred the stage just after 21:00, the evening started with a tune from thier latest album "Into The Valley Of The Moon King" called "Cry To Yourself" and followed with tunes as Take Me To The Edge, The Moon King and Brand New Morning, most of the tunes was from the new albums witch could feel abit wierd but in the end it felt pretty good anyway, it didnt really matter as this tour is for promoting the new album and its not a greatest hits tour as many other band does. But some older tunes came at the end of the gig anyway. Songs as Vigilante, Kingdom Of Madness and Don't Wake The Lion. A great part was the tune "Shame For The Bad Boy" witch is a Hard Rain song, (Tony Clarkin old band).

So the final review is that it was a great evening, not much to complain about and Magnum still rock!
Todays tune is a classic one that is very powerful called "Don't Wake The Lion (Too Old To Die Young)" from the album "Wings Of Heaven". The Video is (Live Hammersmith Odeon 26-3-1988)

Bigelf - Money, It's Pure Evil

Bigelf are an L.A. trio whose music has largely been met with apathy stateside, though in Europe they seem to be getting a foothold with Record Heaven, a Swedish label. As you already notice from the last 2 days we have been documented the Progressive Nation tour. Big Elf was the 3:rd band on this tour and its a band that is growing bigger in Europe. Fox as lead man with his big black high hat on his head and you can feel that you step back 30 yrs. of music when they enter the stage and you see Fox behind his Hammond Organ on one side and a Moog on the other. And they surly deliver their music well and its great to see them act, i hope i will be able to see them again soon, a full show with these guys would be awesome. And thanks Damon for the shirt, i will wear it with pride. Their records "Hex" are a heavy, Sabbaths riffs, such as on the lead off "Madhatter" or the frantic "Sunshine Suicide". There's classic keyboard solos throughout and plenty of Hammond organ, Mellotrons and Moog synths with 70s retro sounds and arrangements. The latest album "Cheat The Gallows" .The album features 10 diverse tracks of hallucinatory hard rock, BIGELF's sound blends Hendrix and with a touch of BEATLES tunefulness that will work well with classic hard rock fans, vintage prog-heads and heavy metal enthusiasts alike. Aside from Demon Fox and Ace Mark, Bigelf also consists of drummer Froth and bass player Duffy Snowhill. Even their names are impressive!

"Hex" and their latest "Cheat The Gallows" is albums that i warmly recommend if you like the 70's style of rock.

Todays tune is "Money, It's Pure Evil" taken from their latest album "Cheat the gallows" Enjoy!

Opeth - When

Yesterday at Hovet in Stockholm... Continued...
A great day with a lot of cool rockers,
and a bunch of great technicians that
worked with us building the act.

Progressive Nation 2009

With 4 marvelous bands, Headline was DreamTheater,
then there were Opeth (that could be headline by themselfs)
Bigelf and Unexpect the last 2 we will be back!

Opeth are a 5 man band, most of them have other projects as well.

Mikael Åkerfeldt is the lead vocalist/lead guitarist
and songwriter in the band as well as the lead vocalist
of death metal band Bloodbath.

The rhythm and lead gitarrist Fredrik Åkesson a really great guy,
is also active in Krux, Monsters of Metal and Talisman.

Martin Mendez is the bass guitar player and the second most
consistent member of the band.

Per Wiberg is the keyboardist and a member
of Michael Amott's stoner metal band Spiritual Beggars

Martin "Axe" Axenrot is the drummer for the bands Bloodbath,
Satanic Slaughter, Witchery, and most recently, Opeth.
Axenrot played with Opeth on their last five tours,
filling in for then drummer Martin Lopez.
On May 12, 2006, he officially joined the
band as Lopez left permanently

It was a pleasure to see them preform at Hovet,
I really liked them, Åkerfeldt growl is marvelous!
Vocally, Åkerfeldt shifts between growling
death metal vocals for heavy sections, and clean,
sometimes whispered vocals over acoustic passages.
Marvelous!!

Here is a tune from 2006.

Enjoy people!

Dream Theater - A Rite of Passage

Today Dream Theater and the Progressive Nation Tour 2009 landed in Stockholm for a Gig at Hovet.
It was a pretty amazing day with a lot of things that happened.
First of all we had a load in that just went smoothly and a afternoon with a meet and greet with the guitarist John Petrucci at DLX Music in Stockholm.
John really took his time to meet up with the fans.
DLX Music also gave a nice gift, a cake to John to thank him for passing by.

The rest of the evening and the performance was very interesting to see/hear.
The hole evening with the 3 other acts of this constellation did well,
more about that tomorrow. Dream Theater kicked as usal and im sure most of the fans who was there was happy and felt great about the show.
A funny thing was that the sound power went off 3 times in a row and its great to see that they really can cover things like this in a easy and great way.
Anyway, finally they got things in order and could continue the show,
songs like The Mirror/Lie, Sacrificed Sons, Wither, Forsaken,
In the name of god was a few tunes that was played.
To wrap this up in a nice package and end with todays tune
isn't as easy as it sounds, many things still left out
telling but i guess you guys already figure that i keep most of it untold :)
So todays tune is "A Rite of Passage" taken from thier latest album
"Black Clouds & Silver Linings"

Pearl Jam - The Fixer

Pearl Jam is an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. Since its inception, the band's line-up has included Eddie Vedder (lead vocals, guitar), Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), and Mike McCready (lead guitar). The band's current drummer is Matt Cameron, formerly of Soundgarden, who has been with the band since 1998.

September 20 was the date of the ninth studio album called "Backspacer" Pearl Jam chose to go back to working with producer Brendan O'Brien. The album was the group's first album to be produced by O'Brien since the band's 1998 album, Yield. The artwork for the album was handled by editorial cartoonist Dan Perkins, who goes by the pen name Tom Tomorrow.

"Men, we all think we can fix anything. It's not necessarily a good thing. In a relationship, a woman will say 'This is wrong,' and we're like, 'I'll fix that, don't worry about it, we can fix it.' These wonderful people, the woman you're in a relationship with, they don't want you to fix it. They just want you to listen to what's happening: 'Don't fix it, I want you to own this with me—feel it.' This is a reminder song to me, to stop fixing."

Eddie Vedder & Jerry Hannan - Society

Eddie Vedder (born Edward Louis Severson III on December 23, 1964 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American musician who serves as the lead singer for the rock band Pearl Jam. Vedder left the Southern California music scene and moved to Seattle, Washington in 1990 to join Pearl Jam where he rose to fame amid the grunge movement of the early 1990s. In 2007, Vedder released his first solo album in the form of the soundtrack for the film Into the Wild.

Its based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.
The movie was directed by Sean Penn.

Every once in a while when I listen to a tune I can really sense the emotional feelings with the lyrics or the rhythms.
That usually make me wanna listened to it countless of times. This was a tune exactly like that, its very powerful in it own means and touches deeply. The tune is called "Society" by Jerry Hannan & Eddie Vedder. The tune is written by Jerry Hannan for the movie and performed by Eddie Vedder. So today we do a double, both versions of this wonderful tune.
Witch one do you like best ?

Def Leppard - Bringin' On The Heartbreak

Def Leppard are an English rock band from Sheffield, who formed in 1977 as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Largely on the strength of their albums Pyromania and Hysteria.

Def Leppard's music is a mixture of hard rock, album-oriented rock (AOR), and heavy metal elements, with its multi-layered, harmonic vocals and its melodic guitar riffs.

Todays tune "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" is a great monster ballad. It was the second single from their 1981 album High 'n' Dry. The song was written by three of the band's members: Steve Clark, Pete Willis, and Joe Elliott.
In 2002, it was covered by American pop/R&B singer Mariah Carey for her album Charmbracelet.
Def Leppard recorded the song for their second album, High 'n' Dry. Its working title had been "A Certain Heartache," and the track (along with the others on the album) was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange.

This is the original video for "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" with Pete Willis on guitar. It was the first music video that was directed by Doug Smith, and is a live recording of Def Leppard performing the song at the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool, England on July 22, 1981.

Rosanne Cash (born May 24, 1955) is an American singer-songwriter and author. She is the eldest daughter of the late country music singer Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto Cash Distin.

Got a bit inspired about Cash yesterday and wanted to share on more track with him. Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down

Todays tune "God's Gonna Cut You Down" is a classic folk song that many have done, Johnny's version is quite different from most known gospel versions of the son. He recorded it on American V: A Hundred Highways in 2003. The lyrics are a warning to sinners that no matter how hard they try, they will not avoid God's judgment

“Go tell that long tongue liar, go and tell that midnight rider, tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter, tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down"

A music video, directed by Tony Kaye, was made for this version in late 2006. It featured a number of celebrities, including Iggy Pop, Kanye West, Chris Martin, Kris Kristofferson, Patti Smith, Terrence Howard, Flea, Q-Tip, Adam Levine, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Sir Peter Blake, Sheryl Crow, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson, Amy Lee, Tommy Lee, the Dixie Chicks, Mick Jones, Sharon Stone, Bono, Shelby Lynne, Anthony Kiedis, Travis Barker, Lisa Marie Presley, Kid Rock, Jay-Z, Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, Corinne Bailey Rae, Johnny Depp, Graham Nash, Brian Wilson, Rick Rubin and Owen Wilson. It also briefly features archive footage of Cash himself. The video was shot entirely in black and white. Since its release, both the song and video have seen moderate airplay.

The video won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.

Ozzy Osbourne & Randy Rhoads - Mr.Crowley

"Mr. Crowley" is a 1980 heavy metal song performed by Ozzy Osbourne, released on the album Blizzard of Ozz, Osbourne's first solo effort following his firing from Black Sabbath. Musicians playing on the song are guitarist Randy Rhoads, bass guitarist Bob Daisley, and drummer Lee Kerslake. Don Airey plays the song's distinctive funeral organ introduction.
The second guitar solo in "Mr. Crowley" is ranked number 28 on Guitar World Magazine's poll of the "100 greatest guitar solos" and number 34 on Planet Rock's list of the 50 greatest guitar solos.[1]
The song was inspired by books about Aleister Crowley which Ozzy Osbourne had read and a deck of tarot cards that were found in the studio. Contrary to popular opinion, Ozzy pronounces Mr. Crowley correctly ('kroʊli').
Noted covers include Judas Priest, Moonspell (Darkness and Hope, 2001) and Cradle of Filth (Nymphetamine Special Edition, 2005). Tim 'Ripper' Owens, (with Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar), Joe Lynn Turner, George Lynch and The Cardigans have also recorded covers of the song.

Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever

Like yesterday Im in the flashback mood :)
But now to something completely diffrent than yesterday..Cough...

QUEEN!
One of my favorites as a youth,
although it was earlier stuff than this tune.

They were formed in London in 1970.
Since Mercury's death and Deacon's retirement,
May and Taylor have performed infrequently together
at special events and programmes as members of other ensembles.
Between 2004 to 2009 the duo collaborated with Paul Rodgers,
under the name Queen + Paul Rodgers.
They did an album in 2008 called "The Cosmos Rocks"
But then in 2009 they splitted up, but its not
totally ruled out that they gonna play once again.

A rumour went around that George Michael should
sing with them after Mercury´s death but he only did a
live version of "Somebody to Love" what I know.

They have released fifteen studio albums,
five live albums and numerous compilation albums.

Here is a tune from their album
"A Kind of Magic", released in June 1986.

Anathema - Angels Walk Among Us

Anathema is an English band from the city of Liverpool, which, together with Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, helped to develop the death/doom sound, a subgenre of doom metal. However, their album Eternity was a departure from doom and metal, and signaled their transition to atmospheric rock.

Yesterday they did visit Sweden for a gig at Klubben/Stockholm, was only in to listen to the soundcheck, was to tired to stay for the show even if i wanted to as it sounded marvelous. Im almost sure that they delivered a great show.
The latest album Hindsight is wonderful and i can recommend it to buy.

Yesterday Jørn entred the stage @ Tyrol/Stockholm for a gig with 2 other bands (SAINT DEAMON and VINDICTIV). What about yesterday, well the first opening act "Saint Deamon" was a suprice, well done power metal, with Jan Thore Grefstad on vocals a guy who really can sing, the music was well played, i kinda like it and they did a good performance aswell. The 2:nd act "Vindctiv" with the great guitar player and bandleader Stefan Lindholm togheter with Nalle Phålsson did a great show aswell.
And for the last Jørn and his band, yes he rocks well live aswell, he really has a magic voice and stands among the greatest hardrock singers. The show was great indeed, it included everything that you could imagine a rock show should include.
2 sets of guitar solos with Tore and Tor Erik and ended up with a great drum solo with the great drummer Wild Willy.
Tunes like Stormcrow, Spirit Black, Man of the Dark, Rock and Roll Angel, Stormbringer and War of the world was played, but i didnt hear one of the tunes that i really like with Jørn "Out To Every Nation" witch is a really nice tune with him.
So i skip the set list and take it in anyway :)

[Ingenting] - Hallelujah

[ingenting] is a Swedish pop group from Stockholm with members from Florence Valentin and Chasing Dorotea. The band was created in 2003, has released 2 albums and the 3rd in on the way and should be released any day.
I got the latest album "Tomhet, idel tomhet" a week ago ("Thanks Niklas") and have been listen to it in my car and i must say that this is Swedish pop music at its absolute best, its a interesting album, the lyrics are well written and the music has great impassioned swing in the rhythms. Its a brilliant ten track pop album that is produced by Jari Haapalainen who worked with bands like Camera Obscura, Ed Harcourt and The Concretes. Have seen these guys live many times and it's a real body kick to watch, they really have a great swing in their music, the percussion part is just perfect for this type of pop.

The band includes members as:
Christopher Sander - vocals and guitar, Mattias Bergqvist - drums, Sebastian Ross - bass, Tobias Måård - guitar, Andreas Jeppsson - keys and Niklas Lundell - percussion

Below is a picture from Way Out West this year.

[Ingenting] is doing a secret gig tonight at 20:00 between "Liljeholmsbrons pelare" Liljeholmsbridge pillar (South of Stockholm).

[Ingenting] will do a gig and some signing in Gothenburg on friday (11/9) at Bengans (17:30)

Enjoy todays tune,

Mr Big - To Be With You

Tonight is the night for Mr Big, they will be playing at Berns for at-least 2 hrs with tunes from their musical carrier of rock.
As far as i heard, the guys are in superb condition and really enjoying to be back on track again, to bad that i cant be there tonight *tears* but hopefully they will enter the studio for a new album and then out on the road again and perhaps they do a little visit again to Sweden.

"To Be with You" is a song that appears on the album "Lean into It" released in 1991. "To Be With You" is about a man who has his eye on a woman who has recently experienced a broken heart from a previous relationship. The song was written and composed by Eric Martin during his teen years. Paul contributed to its melodic arrangements later on. In his solo career Mr. Big, guitarist Paul Gilbert performed the song live using the riff from the Van Halen song "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love".

Enjoy!

And we have a little Mr Big Bonus today!!
Yesterday did they played in Helsinki, Finland. Here is a great solo thing with Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan from yesterday with their doublenecks.
Enjoy!

The place was totally crowded and the line outside were still damn long.
They entered the stage with bearheads all of em´except the drummers.
On the stage they stacked up lightsboxes looked like a marshall stacks
but there were lights in em´and they were all with small mirrors.
Just like the drums and the big Bearhead in the middle of the stage! :D

They begun with "Ahead of my Time" with Arve on the mic.
Then He begun to sing Automatic Lover and the crowd screamed.

Then in the end Robyn danced out with a bearhead on her..
Something went wrong cos her mic broked or something
broke so she couldnt continue.
Pity!
So Cobrastyle, Rock N Roll Highscool and Punkrocker got lost.

Ah Well, behind the spotlight I had the ball, They rocked HARD!!!!

Here is a tune for u guys, ENJOY !!!

Cheers Thetania
