Gothenburg's FRANSKA TRION new album "Dom Ensammas Planet" (The Planet of the Lonely) is the first without drummer Thommy Larsson. But despite his death, he is present on the album and in the band colleague and friend Matti Ollikainen's life.
The song "Två Steg Bort" (Two Steps Away) is about the friend and band colleague Thommy Larsson who passed away last spring.
The album goes from darkness to light - from classic FRANSKA TRION topics like mad love, despair and anxiety to dazzling heavenly light and vibrant life.
FRANSKA TRION was formed one evening at the jazz club Brötz in Gothenburg, Sweden 17 years ago by Matti Ollikainen, Thommy Larsson and Victor Furbacken. Since then, Matti Ollikainen - in addition to being a widely employed studio and tour musician - has sung his autobiographical songs about unhappy love, dark taverns, and desperation - but also about passion, hope, and happy love. The music moves between rock, blues, and jazz.

From the opening bars of Disbelief Suspension onwards, it’s clear that "Somebody’s Knocking" is an album made by someone deeply obsessed with how music – with all its primal, spiritual healing power – truly penetrates the soul. As a result, there’s joy in the music, as if created from a perfect set of inspirations smashed and grabbed from God’s own record shop.
"Somebody’s Knocking" is the eleventh solo album by ex-SCREAMING TREES frontman, Mark Lanegan. Lanegan says that JOY DIVISION, THE STOOGES, LOVE and, perhaps surprisingly, NEW ORDER have all influenced this album. Despite having always been a fan of electronic music, the sounds are now making their way into his otherwise fags-and-whiskey-drenched gruff rock sound as it’s what he listens to most these days.
Although "Somebody’s Knocking" came together in an eleven-day session in L.A. (Lanegan’s hometown of the last twenty-two years), many of the deepest musical influences on the record are European – be they the aforementioned electronic artists or newer, murkier forms provided by
writing partners Martin Jenkins (who records as Pye Corner Audio) Sietse van Gorkom who co-wrote 7 tracks including first single and today's tune "Stitch It Up", or Rob Marshall – a collaborator on "Gargoyle" and on his own, forthcoming debut album as "Humanist". In each case, Lanegan approached working
with each of the writers from the perspective of a fan.

Sunday, time for a classic, or sorta, as it's not so old.
"Pale Rider" is a tune taken from the third album "Köld" by Icelandic post-metal band SÓLSTAFIR. It was released on January 21, 2009 through Spikefarm Records. Feels like I have to end this week with a tune from one of the biggest acts from Iceland.
SÓLSTAFIR has been played serval times here and has reached really high almost every time they have released something new. SÓLSTAFIR is a post-metal band formed in 1995 and currently signed to Season of Mist. Originally a black metal band, they transitioned to a post-rock-influenced style on their second album "Masterpiece Of Bitterness".
The beautiful cover art was done by Guðmundur Óli Pálmason.
SÓLSTAFIR will do a winter tour in Europe and this tour is going to be something incredibly special, album "Köld" will be played in its entirety to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the album.

SINMARA is a Black Metal band from Reykjavík and Mosfellsbær featuring members of SVARTIDAUÐI, WORMLUST, REBRITH OF NEFAST and SLIDHR. The band was formerly named CHAO, and under that name the three track cassette "Spiritus Sankti" was released in 2012 by Norwegian label Terratur Possessions. Musically SINMARA contrast chaotic agression with haunting melodies and dramatic build-ups, with a focus on musicianship and attention to detail. Sinmara is an experienced and respected live band, having played countless shows in Reykjavík and three times at Eistnaflug.
Their latest release "Hvísl Stjarnanna", released on CD, LP and digital through the veritable German imprint Ván Records on March 8, 2019.
A monument to the group’s namesake dark sorceress goddess, keeper of the baneful sword Lævateinn, ‘Hvísl Stjarnanna’ is bound together thematically by myths relating to sirens, ghosts and malevolent spirits beckoning from beyond. To heed the whisper of the stars is to be transfixed by a dreamlike connection and melancholic yearning for the realm beyond the stars, to be guided by the mediators between the world of the living and the nightside of the dead.
Musically the album sees the band further progress the style previously touched upon on their latest MLP "Within the Weaves of Infinity" which saw the band infuse their chaotic and forceful Black Metal with a melodic richness which harkens back to traditional forebearers of the Scandinavian style. On "Hvísl Stjarnanna" SINMARA reveals a mournful and nostalgic atmosphere and soundscapes steeped in more grandeur than they’ve crafted to date, but yet showcasing serpentine harmonies permeated by the same malefic venom as has come to be expected of the band.

In ‘98 Greg Wilkinson started playing shows with a drum machine, bass, circuit bent noise generators while singing under the moniker Mr Brainoil. Playing gigs solo during that time would come to an end in early 2000 when Nathan Smith would join on guitar. Later that year, Ira Harris would round the lineup on drums to its final and only formation changing its moniker to BRAINOIL.

"Polsk Zchlager" is a tune by the Swedish punk rock band KSMB (Kurt-Sunes med Berit), they were active between 1977 to 1982. The young band members grew up and lived in the suburb Skärholmen outside Stockholm.
"Polsk Zchlager" suites well after two days of Polish trouble and misery of a band that could be popular and exalted, but instead get misunderstood and not reliable. Finally, maybe even forgotten, hopefully not.

BATHUSKA as a band that really blown me away with the debut "Litourgiya", a record that got many hours of playtime. Nowadays I'm not really sure what to like and think about version 1 or 2.
Both of them (that is, the antagonists, former friends, guitarist Krzysztof Drabikowski (version 1) and singer Bartłomiej Krysiuk (version 2)) have now both released an album, version 1 in May and version 2 in July. Both albums feel rushed and full of hatred about the situation.
Krzysztof Drabikowski is widely regarded as the one who has been merely stalking his life's work and is often called True BATHUSKA by his fans. Bartłomiej Krysiuk is generally considered the villain who simply took over Drabikowski's creation, or cut him off, and his official version of BATHUSKA, supported by Metal Blade, is called by the Drabikowski fans of Fake BATHUSKA. Mazy?.
Bartłomiej Krysiuk "Hospodi (Господи)" (version 2) have a bigger and better production, I guess it's because Metal Blade is behind this version. Decent tunes and opens up pretty good but falls a bit in the end. My favorite tune is "Crucifixion - Utrenia (Утреня)", the easy and clever riffing in the middle of the tune is magically simple and seductive. So if you sum these both albums up, takes the best parts and merge it together and a great BATHUSKA release would have entered the world.

After a few spins on both albums, there are some differences, not big, they both follow the atmospheric with melodic chants mixed with black metal. Both are good, follows the already made path, decent creations and innovative black metal, but if they had worked together it would have been awesome I guess.
Krzysztof Drabikowski version feels and sounds like a follow up to "Litourgiya", a bit harder and darker. It has a decent production from the digital file I'm listening to, would like to have a Vinyl version to truly get into it, hope he releases it on the true media. Favorites tunes are "Песнь 1", "Песнь 5" and "Песнь 6". But it's very hard to analyze the albums, I'm so infected by the bullshit around these guys.

"Am I Evil?" is a song by British heavy metal band DIAMOND HEAD released on their 1980 debut album "Lightning To The Nations". The song was written by vocalist Sean Harris and guitarist Brian Tatler and released on Happy Face Records, a label owned by the producer Muff Murfin of The Old Smithy studio of Worcester. The song was immediately popular among the heavy metal circles in the United Kingdom around the time of its release, but only rose to international prominence after METALLICA covered it as a B-side on their "Creeping Death" single in 1984; the cover was re-released on their 1998 covers album "Garage Inc.". The song was influenced by the BLACK SABBATH song "Symptom Of The Universe."

"Bird Of Paradise" is the debut single by former THIN LIZZY guitarist Snowy White, from his debut album, "White Flames", released in 1983. The single became White's biggest hit, peaking at no. 6 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1984, remaining on the chart for 11 weeks. The song was the only single released from the album and is White's signature song.
The song has featured on various compilations of White's material, such as Goldtop: "Groups & Sessions '74–'94", "Pure Gold" and "The Best of Snowy White". White performed the song on the BBC Television show Top of the Pops in 1984, see the clip below.
British radio DJ Steve Wright described "Bird of Paradise" as "one of my favourite songs of all time", after playing the song on BBC Radio 1 during its run in the charts.
BESVÄRJELSEN (Swedish for “Conjuring”) formed in 2014 by members out of bands like DOZER, GREENLEAF, AFGRUND, LASTKAJ and V. One can tell their influences has also been drawn from all these genres represented in their musical history. However rooted in Doom you will find traces of Progressive Metal, Punk, Folk, and simply old classic Rock n’ Roll that has been carefully weaved together to a sound as heavy as it’s sophisticated.
The band released their first EP “Villfarelser” in 2015 which was later followed up by yet another EP “Exil” in 2016. Both EP’s was well received by Swedish media and the band got quite a lot of radio plays on Swedish National Radio even though having released both EP’s themselves and not being backed up by any record label.
2017 has been spent writing and recording new songs which now has been funneled down to the bands first full-length album "Vallmo" (Swedish for "Poppy"). "Vallmo" is an album that more than ever showcase the bands enormous potential. Seamlessly wandering from crushing Doom riffs to catchy vocals and melodies, deep lyrical content and drum beats from hell, all topped with beautiful guitar solos and layers. A totally new addition to the debut "Vallmo" is that BESVÄRJELSEN now has songs in English as well as in Swedish, so for today we pick an English one so you all get a chance to follow the lyrics.

The Swedish gothic metal band MISTER MISERY have released a brand new video from the upcoming album "Unalive". MISTER MISERY is blending high energy metal and incorporating melody reminiscent of the pop/rock genre. Loaded with attitude and power, the band Is a theatrical circus pushing the boundaries in their musical performances.

MISTER MISERY was formed in Stockholm, Sweden and came to life after Lead vocalist Harley Vendetta left Hollywood late 2017 to pursue his own vision after leaving his previous American band. Harley later found lead guitarist Alex nine early 2018 and one became two. In February 2018 they released their first single "Revelation For The Lost" that sparked the interest of metal drummer Mac Frantic that later joined forces with the band in March 2018.
The final piece was yet to be found for this "Larger Than Life" band but by their third single release "Torn" they finally found current bass player Eddie Kratz and became a full unit May 2018. Now with a full-length album to be released they are in full force to spark a new hope for the alternative community in hopes of stardom.
