Record Madness is a project between
Metal blog and Tune Of The Day, a project that have now been running for some time.
In short, its based on a closer look at our record collection, and the rules are relatively simple.
There will be challenges between us. Everything is about to dive into the shelf and pick up the records with the letter which you have been challenged with. One tells stories, shows pictures, a little anecdotes, or anything that affects the character that is current at the moment. The posts ends with a challenge in the form of a letter from the alphabet sent to Chief Rebel on Metal blog. Then he makes the same thing with his record shelf (hey CD!) But with his twist and his angle on it before he sends back a letter. Then it all goes back and forth like a pinball machine, but in slow motion.
Everything started with "Chief Rebel" who dived into the letter "
A", and wrote a mammoth post with lots of pictures of what was in his record shelf under the letter A. Then he has described what he has under "
R","

Now we have come up a bit in the process and I have harvested both the letter "
L", "

D" and today we'll see what is hidden behind the letter "F"(LQBUDF)
Alright let's get it going. "F" a average letter, that contains a mixed lot of artists, "F" has a pretty good place to the left and still in a standing height in the record shelf. Once I have browsed through the albums I quickly notice that it contains a really mixed output, kinda funny indeed. But like some other letters, there are a lot of holes to fill in. There a few records that not is displayed here as standing in a box a long way from here and hopefully will be here in a few years :)
First out is the latest album with Swedish trashers F.K.U. (Freddy Krueger's Ünderwear) with the Zombie like cover.

The English folk rock and electric folk band Fairport Convention take some space in the record shelf, the band was formed in 1967, they are widely regarded as the most important group in the English folk rock movement. The records on the picture shows:
Babbacombe Lee (1971), In Real Time: Live '87 (1987), Nine (1973), Rising for the Moon (1975), Fairport Live Convention (titled A Moveable Feast in the USA) (1974) and Unhalfbricking (1969)
From San Francisco, California we find the rock band Faith No More and the records
King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime (1995), Angel Dust (1992) & Introduce Yourself (1987),
The record producer Frank Farian who created the British band Far Corporation, who also was behind the bands Boney M. and Milli Vanilli. The name was shortened from "Frank Farian Corporation", which was originally put together to record a cover of the Paul Simon piece "Mother and Child Reunion" as a charity record and reached the top 10 in several European countries. That group's lineup included members of Barclay James Harvest, Toto, Boney M and Force Majeure.
Far Corporation's primary claim to fame is their cover of "Stairway to Heaven". Contrary to public perception, Far Corporation was actually the first group to make the singles charts with this song as Led Zeppelin had never released it as a single. Some of the musicians Farian assembled include vocalist Robin McAuley, drummer Simon Phillips, ex-Saga drummer Curt Cress, and three members of Toto: vocalist Bobby Kimball, keyboardist David Paich, and guitarist Steve Lukather.
Division One (1985)
Fearless was the fifth album from the British rock band Family, which was released in October 29, 1971. It was known for its innovative layered-page album headshots of the band's members melding into a single blur.
Bandstand is the sixth studio album from the British progressive rock band Family. Released in 1972. The album cover pictured, and was die-cut in the shape of, a Bush TV22 television set, with a black-and-white image of the band onscreen.
3 more Family albums, first out from the left is the fourth album Anyway (1970), The second album Family Entertainment (1969) and the last out is It's Only a Movie (1973) and their last original studio album before they disbanded that year.
Wake Me When It's Over (1989), the second album with Faster Pussycat, moving from the hair metal sound of their first album to a blues-influenced sound.
Fastway is a British rock band formed by guitarist, "Fast" Eddie Clarke, formerly of Motörhead, and bassist, Pete Way, formerly of UFO. Here with the records On Target (1988) & All Fired Up (1984)

Metals (2011) & The Reminder (2007) with Feist, who is a Canadian singer-songwriter, performing both as a solo artist and as a member of the indie rock group Broken Social Scene.
Bryan Ferry with the albums Another Time, Another Place (1974) his second solo album & These Foolish Things (1973) this album containing cover versions of standard songs. It was his first solo effort, as he was still Roxy Music's lead singer.
Two albums, two different albums, two completely different styles, first Clear Heart Full Eyes (2012) is the debut solo album by The Hold Steady vocalist and guitarist Craig Finn and the second is Nifelvind (2010) (English: Hellwind) is the fifth full-length album by the Finnish folk metal band Finntroll.
Firebird was a British blues-rock power trio founded by Bill Steer in 1999. The music style, reminiscent of seventies rock bands such as Cream, is a radical departure from Steer's previous work with grindcore pioneers Napalm Death and death metal band Carcass. The Firm were a British rock supergroup comprising former Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, and Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Uriah Heep drummer Chris Slade and bass player Tony Franklin. Page and Rodgers originally wanted former Yes drummer Bill Bruford and fretless bassist Pino Palladino in the group; however, Bruford was contracted to another label and Palladino had tour commitments with singer Paul Young.
Here with the only records the band released, The Firm (1985) & Mean Business (1986), Page had indicated that the band was never meant to last more than two albums. After the band split, Page and Rodgers returned to solo work while Chris Slade joined AC/DC and Franklin teamed up with guitarist John Sykes in Blue Murder.
First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo composed of sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, whose close vocal harmonies and woodsy, folk-influenced songwriting take influence from the likes of Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom. Hailing from Enskede, a southern suburb of Stockholm, the siblings began composing songs in 2007.

U.S. alternative rock band Fishbone, formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California, which plays a fusion of ska, punk rock, funk, hard rock and soul.

Ella Fitzgerald, also known as the "First Lady of Song", "Queen of Jazz", and "Lady Ella", was an American jazz vocalist with a vocal range spanning three octaves (D♭3 to D♭6). She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing. Five Finger Death Punch (also initialized as FFDP or 5FDP) is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2005, the group's name is derived from classic martial arts cinema. The band originally consisted of vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Here is the record War Is the Answer (2009)
The American blues-rock band Five Horse Johnson, from Toledo, Ohio. A band that combines hard rock, blues and other influences into a blend of stoner rock/blues music they call their own. Here with the record The Taking of Black Heart (2013)
Here is a record with the Japanese rock band called Flower Travellin' Band (フラワー・トラベリン・バンド Furawā Toraberin Bando?). In Japan they often go by the moniker FTB. Here is the second album Satori, but their first of original material. It was released in Japan in 1971.

Flying Colors (2012) is the self titled debut record by the American supergroup composed of Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue, Casey McPherson, Neal Morse and Steve Morse.
Here is "Done So Wrong" (2011) with the heavy, psychedelic rock band "The Flying Eyes", hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. Their name comes from a 1962 science fiction novel about giant, disembodied eyes that descend from outer space to control humanity.
A Larum (2008) is the first full-length album by London-based folk rock band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, although it was released under the name of Johnny Flynn alone.
Centerfield (1985) with John Fogerty who is an American musician, songwriter, and guitarist, best known for his time with the swamp pop/roots rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) and as a solo recording artist.
Here we have two records with the Dutch rock band "Focus", which was founded by classically trained organist/flautist Thijs van Leer in 1969, and is most famous for the instrumental pieces "Hocus Pocus" and "Sylvia". The records are Focus 3 (1972) & Hamburger Concerto (1974)
American rock band "The Foo Fighters", formed in Seattle in 1994. It was founded by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the death of Kurt Cobain and the resulting dissolution of his previous band.

Here you can see the British-American rock band Foreigner with the fifth studio album Agent Provocateur (1984), it contains the band's biggest hit single, the album's love theme, "I Want to Know What Love Is", which is their only #1 single in the UK and the U.S.
Here stands a few records with David Foster who is a Canadian musician, record producer, composer, singer, songwriter, and arranger. Fotheringay is the self-titled album by the group formed by Sandy Denny after she left Fairport Convention in 1969, and was the group's only release until 2008. It was recorded in 1970 with former Eclection member and Denny's future husband Trevor Lucas, with Gerry Conway, Jerry Donahue, and Pat Donaldson. The album includes five Sandy Denny compositions (one of which was co-written with Lucas), one song by Lucas, as well as two traditional songs and two cover versions: Bob Dylan's "Too Much of Nothing" and Gordon Lightfoot's "The Way I Feel".
(The) Four Tops are an American vocal quartet, whose repertoire has included doo-wop, jazz, soul music, R&B, disco, adult contemporary, and showtunes here with the record 4 Tops On Broadway (1967). The other record is the debut album Fourplay (1991) with the contemporary jazz quartet Fourplay.

Franke and the Knockouts was a short-lived band, formed in New Jersey, USA and fronted by singer/songwriter Franke Previte. Here with the records Below The Belt (1982) and Makin' The Point (1984)

(1969). The Free Story has a interesting story behind that I might tell someday. Free
was an English rock band formed in London in 1968 best known for their 1970 signature song "All Right Now". They disbanded in 1973 and lead singer Paul Rodgers went on to become a frontman of the band Bad Company along with Simon Kirke on drums.
Space Ace the former Kiss member with one of his solo albums Outer Space (2009). There is an interesting story behind this record that I will tell someday. I believe I have all the other solo albums somewhere in a box far far away.
