Bosnian Rainbows - Mother, Father, Set Us Free

The support band for Tomahawk the other day was the alternative rockers "Bosnian Rainbows". A band that I had not heard before, but was actually very curious when I heard that Omar Rodríguez-López was in the band. His involvement in the Mars Volta is totally magical so this must be something.

Sure, this was good, a bit different, a little wacky with a well dressed electro-clad squeaks rock, but with a great swing in the melodies. The singer Teri reminded at times of Björk, but with her own peculiarities, a bit crazy, but with full control, where she at one point jumps down from the stage and disappears into the crowd, the band jams on and then she shows up in the middle, right in front of the stage, she stands on the riot fence with her back to the audience, singing a bit before she makes her stage dive, but she jumps out backwards. In total a great support act for another great band. If you got the chance to see them live, please do so as this is absolutly worth watching live.

Bosnian Rainbows is an American alternative rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2012. The band consists of former The Mars Volta members, Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, backing vocals) and Deantoni Parks (drums, keyboards), alongside Le Butcherettes vocalist Teri Gender Bender and Nicci Kasper (keyboards).

Initially billed as a variation on the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, the band was formed following Rodriguez-Lopez's putting his primary project, The Mars Volta, on hiatus.

Todays tune "Mother, Father, Set Us Free" is taken from the self titled debut album with "Bosnian Rainbows", released June 24, 2013. The album was recorded and produced by Johann Scheerer at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg, Germany in October 2012, during a break in band's touring schedule. All the recording, as well as mixing, was made on analog gear, without using computers. All lyrics written by Teresa Suárez, all music composed by Bosnian Rainbows.
