The Sounds - Song With A Mission

Last night The sounds preformed at Debaser Medis in Stockholm.
It was a very crowded Debaser, perspiration is word that would fit.
The audience were fantastic, they knew every word and jumped like
mad when she started to sing.

I was one of the security guards in the "pit"
and picture me...being very tall,
trying to make myself shorter
and yet have an overview over the crowd...
And then in a sitting position the singer
Maja parted her legs behind me
didnt see it at first...looked at the left and i saw a knee..
Ehhhmm moved a bit...one of the photo shooters took a nice pic of it :)
(forgot to ask for it)
Couple of songs later, there I were and suddenly she wrapped her t-shirt
over my head. Gaaahh.
After I went up with her in the elevator to the dressing rooms,
she apologized for the hoax but she couldnt resist. :D
Its all show :)

The Sounds started up in 1999 in Helsingborg, Sweden.
Came out with their debut album in 2002
"Living in America" with the follow up, "Dying to Say This to You"
on March, 2006. Their third album, "Crossing the Rubicon"
was released on June 2009.

The members are:
Maja Ivarsson on vocals
Felix Rodriguez on guitar
Jesper Anderberg on keyboards, piano, guitar
Johan Bengtsson on bass
Fredrik Nilsson on drums

From the beginning *they were classmates.
*Felix Rodriguez, Maja Ivarsson, Johan Bengtsson
and Fredrik Nilsson.

Enjoy m8s

Love, Thetania

Dead by Sunrise is the side project of Linkin Park's lead vocalist and songwriter, Chester Bennington. The band also features Amir Derakh, Ryan Shuck, Brandon Belsky, Elias Andra, and Anthony "Fu" Valcic from Julien-K. Dead by Sunrise's debut album, Out of Ashes, was released worldwide on October 13, 2009.

The band's name, which was previously "Snow White Tan", reflects the time during the album's recording. The final name "Dead By Sunrise" does sound better.

Todays tune "Crawl Back In" is the first single from the album "Out of Ashes".

Barren Earth - Flicker

Barren Earth is a Progressive Death Metal band that was formed in Helsinki, Finland in 2007. Barren Earth consist of Olli-Pekka Laine(ex-Amorphis, Mannhai) on Bass, Marko Tarvonen (Moonsorrow) on Drums, Kasper Mårtenson (ex-Amorphis, Ben Granfelt Band) on Keyboard, Janne Perttilä on Guitar, Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari) on Guitar and Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) on Vocals.

The music of Barren Earth combines elements of modern and traditional death metal, with 70's prog rock and folk. The singing part is very similar to Opeth, mixing growling and fine singing. Among the band's influences are artists like Paradise Lost, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and also some pioneers of Finnish prog. This is very good quality music that Tune Of The Day highly recommend to get. I will for sure!

Todays tune "Flicker" is taken from their last record "Curse Of The Red River"

Paul Weller - 7 & 3 Is The Strikers Name

Paul Weller (born John William Weller on 25 May 1958) is an English singer-songwriter. Starting with the mod/punk-rock band the Jam (1976-1982) and later on with the Style Council (1983-1989). In 1991 he re-established himself as a successful solo artist and continues to remain a respected singer, lyricist and guitarist.

Wake Up the Nation is the tenth studio album from Paul Weller and was released April 19, 2010. It is the first of Weller's albums since 1982 to feature contributions from Bruce Foxton, formerly of The Jam. Weller told Mojo magazine: "We'd both lost loved ones and without getting too spiritual that was the spur of it. I spoke to him this time last year when his wife Pat was ill and that broke the ice, then I invited him down to Black Barn (studio). There was no big plan, it was easy, a laugh, and nice to see him and work together again. We just slipped back into it." This summer will Paul Weller play at the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg.

Most of the 16 tracks are short, sharp, strange but somehow very cleaver. Todays tune "7 & 3 Is The Strikers Name" is a militaristic sound collage. This tune is done together with Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine.

Skrikhult had a gig at Klubben "Bandit All Ages"
It was really..."All Ages"
Klubben went crazy when this band from
Haparanda, Sweden, its really up north.

Saw them once when Stones and I were up there.
Raubtier grew a lot since then, but the same
energic agressive music :)

Saw a lot of people leave after Raubtier finnished.
I asked´them why I mean Plan Three and Corroded
should play, but they just said; Well the best band playd.
A couple were standing and were just leaving, this girl
were really dissapointed cos they didnt sell their
latest album at the selling point.
I heard that and asked her if I could help her.
She smiled with her whole face and said YESSS!!

I went backstage and knocked on their door
and explained her dilemma :)
One of em said yeah matter of fact we do have
3 ex here, I asked them if they could sign
it as well, they said sure.

I realized the singer knew Stones since he had
a record store up there.

Great guys!

Ahwell, here they are in a tune called Kamphund.

Cheers, Thetania

Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

Time for nostalgic trippies :D

A guy I listened to a lot when I sneaked in to my brothers room
was Paul McCartney and his Wings, specially one album named "Ram"

Did u guys know he is a "Sir" :D

Paul have done 18 solo studio albums and 8 live ones.
Productive man.

As the Beatles were breaking up in 1970,
McCartney was working on his debut solo album, "McCartney"
Backing vocals were provided by his wife, Linda,
whom he had married the previous year.
Then 1971 the album "Ram" came out.

The Wings changed a lot throughout the years but their
were 3 stable members: Paul, his wife Linda and Denny Laine.
They did 7 albums.

Think they stoped playing 1981, sad but yah..Paul is still rockin.
Anyway lets enjoy this tunes...

Peace, Thetania

And here is another one from the album "Ram"
Called Monkberry Moon Delight.
With just the sound.

Dark Funeral - My Funeral

Dark Funeral is a black metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. They formed at a time when the Scandinavian metal scene was becoming flooded with bands but survived with pride and kept the old school sound. Dark Funeral emerged as one of the most exciting groups in the genre.

Lord Ahriman and his team consider themselves one of the last "true black metal band". Today to define Black Metal as a genre is quite hard, because of the slight differences between the stiles and the band's "philosophy". Lord Ahriman define their music as (using Ahriman's own words) "Hyper Speed Black Metal".

When Dark Funeral enters the stage at Klubben on Monday evening to do the last show on their own soil, they gave the impression that they wanted to kick ass. The audience starting on half speed during the first tunes. But that didn't disturb the guys at all, they smack, bang, boom like never before, as super-pros they are, a mood that the end is worthy the sound of a show at Wacken. A notable thing is that the guys have a fantastic sound witch is not so common at that place. The band is very tight and the demonic vocals of Emperor Magus Caligula is superb.

Among the songs works Stigmata and The Birth Of The vampiir well as other tunes like Goddess of sodomy or the girl dedicated My Latex Queen. Another notable thing is that in the end of the gig (Last tune i think) the skin of the kick drum broke so Emperor Magus Caligula start to tell some stories during this time of the "gaffa time". As soon it was done the band started again, but as the drummer kicks like an horse so the gaffa lasted only for a few minutes until it broke again and at this time the band decided to ended the show. This was very bad for the guys as they did record this show for a possible live recording later on. The final thoughts of the show is that this was a hell of a gig.

Here is a picture of the stage set.

Todays tune is "My Funeral (Uncut Version)" the first video from "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" Enjoy this hell ride!

Here is some picture from the show.

Zonaria - At War With The Inferior

Zonaria is a melodic death metal band from Umeå, Sweden, formerly known as Seal Precious. In 2008 did Zonaria signed a deal with Century Media Records. They toured Europe in support of the new album with Satyricon and then joined Vader and Septic Flesh throughout November and December of 2008 as part of Vader's 25th anniversary tour. Their new album, The Cancer Empire, was released on 17 October 2008, was produced by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman. They are currently writing for their new album. Zonaria is the 2:nd band that supported Dark Funeral on their Decleration of Hate tour through mainland UK and Europe in March/April of 2010.

Zonaria was also the 2:nd band out on monday at Klubben, they got a nice grip of the audience and they did deliver tunes that really shaken the ground, this was the first encounter with the band and i got supriced. Zonaria is following the path of bands like Hypocrisy, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility and Dimmu Borgir, Zonaria might very well become Sweden’s next metal export.

Zonaria are comprised of Emanuel Isaksson - Drums, Simon Berglund - Vocals & Guitars, Emil Nystrom - Guitars and Markus Akebo - Bass and together these guys make one a great line-up.

Here is Simon Berglund in action!

Todays tune "At War With The Inferior" is taken from their second album "The Cancer Empire" The album refers to a nation that infects the world around it by spreading lies and deceit in order to dominate. For us it has a realistic reflection on the world today. Enjoy!

Carach Angren - A Strange Presence Near The Woods

Carach Angren is a symphonic black metal act from the Netherlands. Yesterday they did stand on the stage at Klubben here in Stockholm as the first of three acts on the "A Declarration Of Hate Tour", the others were Zonaria and Dark Funeral. The actual tour package was with 4 bands (Nefarium), but they did drop off a week ago, during some accident in the family. So from now on we will have 3 days of some really dark and black music here :) Carach Angren was the first act to start their set and they play a type of symphonic black metal that is quite different, and is certainly not cheesy. Live they do pretty well, feels like they do this many times before, well played and well coordinated. The band formed in the southern regions of Limburg, Netherlands. The band chooses a classical, storytelling approach in the broad genre. Symphonic arrangements on keys characterize the bands sound as it is the perfect underscore to the storytelling element.

Todays tune "A Strange Presence Near The Woods" is taken from their first album "Lammendam", which is a ghost story about the white lady called 'La Madame Blanche'. Enjoy!

Here is some pictures from the show.

Megadeth - The Right To Go Insane

After he left Metallica in 1983, guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine formed the thrash metal quartet Megadeth. By streamlining the classic thrash metal approach and making the music more threatening, as well as making the lyrics more nihilistic, Megadeth became one of the leading bands of the genre during the mid-'80s and late '80s. There have both upsides and downsides for Megadeth during the years, but they have released a new album at regular intervals and latest "Endgame" came last year.

On May 17, 1995, a U.S. Army veteran and unemployed plumber in San Diego, Shawn Timothy Nelson, snapped and stole an M60 Patton tank from a nearby National Guard Armory. He drove down the highway, crushing cars, fire hydrants and an RV before he was stopped and killed by police.

The headline-grabbing story forms the basis of Megadeth's new video for 'The Right to Go Insane,' the second single from the band's acclaimed 2009 disc 'Endgame.' In the clip, which surprisingly features no performance footage, frontman Dave Mustaine is filmed sneaking onto a military facility, stealing a tank and playing crash-up derby through the streets. Video footage from the cockpit shows him singing and laughing, while shots from a surveillance helicopter depict a missile gunsight tracking him as he pillages.

Cock Sparrer - Riot Squad

Cock Sparrer are a punk rock band formed in 1972 in the East End of London, England. Cock Sparrer is one of the first Oi! bands. Although they never enjoyed much commercial success, they are considered one of the most influential streetpunk bands, helping pave the way for the late-1970s punk scene and the Oi! subgenre. Their songs have been covered by many punk, Oi!, and hardcore bands.

Their style was influenced by pub rock, glam rock and raw 1960s beat music as delivered by bands like the Small Faces and The Who. Their lyrics mostly dealt with topics related to the daily lives of working class people. Their name derives from their original name, Cock Sparrow, a Cockney term of familiarity.

In 1976, the band met with Malcolm McLaren, who allegedly offered to sign the band alongside to his newest discovery, the Sex Pistols. According to the members of Cock Sparrer, the deal never happened because McLaren refused to buy them a round of beers.

Last weekend did Cock Sparrer a show here in Stockholm at Klubben, Sweden, a totally sold out venue with punkers, old skinners and new and rockers. Was a really amazing view to see when the doors open and the fans dropped in, allot of happy drunken peoples all around. Other bands was Agent Bulldogg and Gatans Lag, all this thanks to Kjell Hell who is the man behind this event, cheers man.

Anyway, lets pick a tune from this classic band. Todays tune "Riot Squad" is taken from "Shock Troops" witch was the debut album, released in 1982 on Razor Records.

Type O Negative - September Sun

Type O Negative was a heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York City. Although commonly viewed as a gothic metal band, Type O has also incorporated elements of doom metal and thrash metal. Their dramatic lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death has resulted in the nickname "The Drab Four" (in homage to The Beatles "Fab Four" moniker).

The band went Platinum with 1993's Bloody Kisses, and has gained an enormous following with seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs. Their most recent album is 2007's Dead Again.

On April 14, 2010, frontman Peter Steele died of heart failure. It is unknown at this point whether or not Type O Negative has broken up or plans to continue on with a new singer, but it is suspected the band will not continue without Steele as he will be very hard to replace.
So today we will let a tear drop fall down and honor this band with a tune.

Todays tune "September Sun" is taken from seventh and final album Dead Again, released 2007.
