Founded in 2015, the fourpiece stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of CANDLEMASS, PARADISE LOST and BLACK BREATH, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it wouldn`t come as a surprise if "Puritan Masochism" conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre.
DYING HYDRA is a three-tentacled specimen of Hydra - arisen from the sludgy undergrounds of Copenhagen.
The beyond-heavy trio - paralyse the audience with their heavy and immensely dirty soundscapes.
All members of the band have more than a decade of experience on the Danish metal scene.
Together, as mortals, they unfold the devastating heavy music of the immortal Hydra.
They released their Self-titled 4 track EP on May 30, 2018. The EP was recorded, Mix & Master by Patrick Fragtrup, Wolf Rider Sound Production.

"A Prayer For The Loud" is the twelfth release by the Danish finest rock band D-A-D. The album was released by AFM Records on May 31st, 2019
It took them eight long years to carve this one out, since their last album, "DIC·NII·LAN·DAFT·ERD·ARK". A band that has been very active playing live already lost the count how many time I have seen them live, but it always has been a pleasure for sure. And now they are back with some new music, after the first spin I have a big smile on my face. D-A-D have made it again, Jesper Binzer with his recognizable nasal voice that still sounds magic and his lyrics are very intelligent. Jacob Binzer guitar work is cleaver and truly amazing. Laust Sonne's drums sound really good and he plays it like Harry Potter waves his wand, it some kind of magic. Stig Pedersen bass licks flow like a stream of strawberries on the ice cake, a sunny day in Copenhagen.
"A Prayer For The Loud" contains 11 tunes with a respectable run time of 44 mins. There are plenty of goodies here, like the first tune "Burning Star", an uptempo classic D-A-D track that blows up with drums and guitar inferno. Some really neat and well-played guitars by Jacob. Jespers lyrics is cleaver...like the line "I’ve got a bad case of I told you so, and it's hard to hold my tongue".
The title tune "A Prayer For The Loud" has a beautiful blues-inspired touch and a melody driving verse. "The Sky Is Made Of Blues" is a driven bluesy piece and the "A Drug For The Heart" is a killer passionate ballad. There are a few rockers like "Nothing Ever Changes" that has the classic D-A-D sound and layout, same goes with the freak out "Musical Chairs" or the catchy "The Real Me" the psychedelic rocker "Time Is A Train" and the guitar-based "Happy Days In Hell". The album closer "If The World Just" is another slower approach piece that wraps this album in golden paper and a silver bow. Well done guys.
Sum: "A Prayer For The Loud" is a super fun and really enjoyable record, a must have if you are a D-A-D fan.

SKIN TUXEDO is a Danish alternative rock/stoner band that started as a one-man-band in late 2012. Inspired by the sound of the '60s & '70s combined with a more modern feel. Ivan Boel Stenger (DELIRUM CORDIA) started writing songs and with little effort, he suddenly had a handful of songs that were beginning to define his new project: SKIN TUXEDO.
Soon after starting this project Ivan got a record deal with Sliptrick Records and released the self-titled EP Skin Tuxedo 25. march 2013. Since then the band has grown with guitarist Jesper Dalsgaard, drummer Frank Beck Hansen and the bassist Henrik "Duplo" SĂžrensen.
The bands goal is to make relevant and honest music, whether it´s beautiful, atmospheric and melancholic songs or just plain rock songs.

Epic metal quintet RISING takes an ambitious leap with the band’s fourth album "Sword And Scythe", a concept album on the history of mankind seen from the perspective of cosmic circularity, where the full potential of the band’s musical vision unfolds in a collection of songs of both progressive outlook, melodic mastery and fierce aggression.
RISING materialized in 2008 when the founding members, drummer Martin Niemann and guitarist Jacob Krogholt found themselves sharing the vision of a metal band encompassing all the traits making this particular music exciting to them: Aggression, heaviness, melody, musicianship and vivid narratives of primeval forces as well as concrete opposition towards oppressive structures and ideologies. After releasing two EP’s and two critically acclaimed albums as a three-piece balancing musically towards doom and sludge, Niemann and Krogholt regrouped as a five-piece adding new dimensions to their trademark sound. With the distinct, melodic vocals of lead singer Morten GrĂžnnegaard and the further addition of bass player Bjarke Lassen and guitarist Anders Bo Rasmussen, RISING moved towards a more classic metal sound while retaining their unique blend of 70’s and 80’s heavy metal with the heavier aspects of more recent alternative variations on the genre. The new line-up recorded RISING’s third album "Oceans Into Their Graves" which saw the band renewed and roaming its natural habitat with a grandiose, crushingly heavy and melodic collection of songs. The album led the band to international critical acclaim, shows at Roskilde Festival and Copenhell in their native Denmark as well as touring nationally and abroad.
Now, RISING has completed their fourth album "Sword And Scythe", a monumental concept album consisting of ten songs and two short instrumentals produced by Jacob Bredahl and the band, while the album’s artwork is once again conceived and created by singer Morten GrĂžnnegaard. Musically, the album shows an ensemble moving towards a more progressive direction while operating confidently within a wide range of dynamics and facets of their own compositional and playing ability. The album varies from fast, short songs to longer epics with proggy structures, continuously displaying a fierce heaviness balanced by a distinct sense of melody and finesse, not at least in the updated twin guitar arrangements. Furtherly, the album is enriched by a group of musical guests adding choir vocals, piano, trombone and also mellotron parts performed by renowned Danish rock musician Tim Christensen.
Conceptually, "Sword And Scythe" examines the progression and recession of mankind throughout the movements of history. As the sword and the scythe can be tools for fighting evil oppression and feeding hungry mouths, they are equally symbols of destruction and the greedy exploitation of our planet's resources. Since the dawn of man, the strive for power, wealth and growth have pushed many overambitious civilizations over the brink into the endless oblivion of forgotten history. The album tells the story of the rebirth and rise of humanity after a future total collapse of our global society. Will man learn from the mistakes of the past and evolve into something better and brighter, or are we forever destined to repeat history and steer towards our own perpetual ruin? The album proposes no answers, only questions as to who we are, what we are and what we might become.

Today, we travel across the strait to Denmark where we find the five-piece band shoegaze/metal band MĂL hailing from Aarhus, Denmark and their latest effort "Jord" (Danish for "Soil"). This is a band that combines its multiple influences into a unique blackened shoegaze sound in that has gained my attention. The boundaries of modern Black Metal have been pushed beyond the purists, and MĂL is proving themselves as a masterful contribution and deliver the absolute finest Denmark can offer at present.

"Jord" is a very creative 8 piece album, 40 minutes of atmospheric and dreamy Blackgaze with soaring and drenched guitars and wheezing vocals with a brilliant composition of soundscapes, melodies, and emotions. But despite all the aggression, it is very accessible to listen to. They are inspired by bands like DEAFHEAVEN, LANTLĂS and ALCEST.
With "Jord" it's easy to get lost in its own beauty like the opening cut "Storm", with a picking intro, soft layback guitar until it burst out like a volcano on viagra, heavy riffing, pulsating drumming and wheezing vocals and you are hooked. "Penumbra" were we get a wall of sounds hitting you like a tsunami, slower reflective intermissions were we can get a bit air before it comes again. Or the softer parts like the melancholy "Bruma", shows a half-paced face until you will feel your soul fights with the blackened screams or in the real beauty is "Lambda", close your eyes and let the atmosphere sweep you slowly toward your dreams. In the more aggressive and extreme tunes as "Vakuum", "Ligament", "Virga" and the title track, atmospheric with clever hardened riffs and black metal ferocity with Scandinavian roots flowing in the veins. This is one of those albums, that will leave you totally blown away after the first spin and hey, it's only getting better the next spin. It gives a first love rush, a true beauty.

The Danish retro-heavy rockers, DOUBLESTONE are an interesting gang of musicians that create some classic heavy rock and sings about wizards, devils, and serpents. Mixing lyrics with native language and english. The music is classic rock with blues and heavy rock influenses. Formed in 2011 Copenhagen, Denmark, by long time friends, Jamie and Bo as a duo. DOUBLESTONE, later that year became a power-trio as (the cousin) Kristian joined the band.
The trio released a few EP’s, and in 2013 joined forces with, MOS GENERATORs Tony Reed to record their first full length “Wingmakers.” The debut album was recorded in an old cheese factory’s basement under the city of Copenhagen and catapulted the trio into the international stoner-rock scene, with their 70’s inspired, straight forward hardrock.
Now digging even deeper and going even further under ground, the second album, was created in the World War II bunker which is now Wolf Ram Studio, produced and mixed by DOUBLESTONE and Andreas Krohn, and mastered once again by the legendary by Tony Reed. "Devil’s Own/DjĂŠvlens Egn" was released through Ripple Music on May 5, 2017.

DE FORBANDEDE is a danish stoner/garage rock band. Formed in Odense, Denmark, 2015 as an recording project aimed at meeting in a studio to write and record songs in the same session, both to avoid over-exercise and that the songs could be as "fresh" as possible. In the style there was gone on the psychedelic and a vowel-driven desert rock. It quickly swept into a 3-track EP "Everything & Nothing" that, together with 2 videos, quickly drew attention to the band from GFR, Gearbox Agency, Career Channel and various festivals plus a nomination for the Odense Live Prize 2017.

"Dying Is Easy" is the title from the upcoming solo album with Jesper Binzer, Jesper is best known as the singer from D-A-D.
This is the first soloalbum from Jesper, set to be released on November 3:rd. After 11 album and many thousands of concerts all around the globe it's the first time he is done somethings by him self. A creative soul the last year have made him do this. And as far as I am informed a new D-A-D album is in the pipeline as well.
"Dying Is Easy" contains 10 tunes that will be awesome to play soonish. A few tunes have already been released, today you will hear one of them here at Tune Of The Day.
"The musical thoughts pressed on and it itched in my fingers to free the ideas I had in my head, and they should be fired off. For the first time, I did something alone. It started just over a year ago where I was at home with the guitar and worked on a song that I eventually found out about myself. And since then text and music dropped out of me and at the end of the year I realized that I was actually making an entire solo album" says a happy Jesper Binzer.
On the album "Dying Is Easy" he has been working with SĂžren Andersen and recorded the album at Medley Studio. The record is mixed by Jacob Hansen, the man behind the production of VOLDBEAT.
He will also do a few solo concerts in Denmark around the release.
"Kingmaker" is the the latest and the fifteenth studio album of Danish metal icons PRETTY MAIDS. Building on their rebirth with 2010’s ”Pandemonium" and 2013’s ”Motherland", they are back with ”Kingmaker", which follows the same formula as their previous releases. They’re still led by founding guitarist Ken Hammer and vocalist Ronnie Atkins, who have been the backbone of their existence from the very beginning in 1981.
The album was pre-released in Japan on October 21, 2016. In other areas, it was released on 4 November 2016 by Frontiers Records. It is the first album of all new material since Motherland (2013). Kingmaker is the first album without keyboard player Morten Sandager who left the band in February 2016 after joining Pretty Maids in 2006. Instead Kim Olesen of Anubis Gate plays keyboards on the album.
In an interview with The Classic Metal Show, lead singer Ronnie Atkins said of the album: "Basically we are big pop freaks as well. We like all kinds of music and to us a good song is a good song. Some of the stuff is actually written on an acoustic guitar. There are songs on the album that are basically pop songs. You could take songs like "Heavens Little Devil", basically just a pop song. The challenge is turning a pop song into a rock song."
The album debuted at number 35 on the German Albums Chart, becoming Pretty Maids' highest-charting album since Jump the Gun in 1990 (which also charted at number 35). However, the album failed to chart in their native Denmark.

J.Tex and The Volunteers is a travelling trio, made up of artist, sailors, surfers, writers, painters and farmers, taking journey to many a city and town, for there they turn musician… playing their instruments and telling their stories in song. These nomads enjoy a nice whisky, coffee, smoke, conversation and Improvising on their instruments while playing home crafted songs. Cooking up food for thought over the open fire. With their stylistic flexibility, swing, rhythm and rock steady roots music, they offer the listener a new musical experience. This is good old fashion entertainment but with a twist, a new take on an old thing. Its comfortable and familiar like a gin and tonic but with an extra shoot and a taller glass.
Singer/Songwriter J.Tex was born in Detroit, Michigan – growing up in Denmark. Playing instruments from the age of 6. Playing for a living on the roads of Europe, mainly in Italy and France in the early 90´ties.
The inspiration is clearly from the great vide open “Dustville” America, but don’t get it wrong – J.Tex is truly an urban cowboy and at the age of 20 he went back to the States to search for his musical roots. J. Tex started out his journey in Nashville, Tennessee with a guitar in one hand, and a paintbrush in the other, he traveled all over the South.
After a few months of doing odd jobs, he found himself on a long journey through the back roads of the South. He had a great companion and mentor in the fire-burning carnival painter and artist “the one legged man” John Heiner.
This trip was a lifetime experience for J.Tex – learning the trade of art, and living the wild life on the road. When traveling long hours up and down interstate highway 75, he always found the time for writing songs when jamming with old-timers, and everyday Americans.

Anubis Gate is a heavy/progressive/power metal band from Denmark. Despite having formed Anubis Gate only in 2003, the members regularly worked together since 1984. They have released five studio albums, and their most recent release is 2013's free download EP "Sheep". Their sixth album "Horizons" is due for release on April 15, 2014.
Anubis Gate concerts have always been rare. But 2012 saw the band returning to Prog Power Europe, this time as co-headliners. It also marked the departure of founding member Jesper M. Jensen, who was replaced by Michael Bodin (Third Eye). Few months later the other founding member, drummer Morten SĂžrensen also left the band. He is now replaced by Morten Gade SĂžrensen (Pyramaze, Wuthering heights).
On October 31, 2013 the new 4-piece released a free download EP called "Sheep" consisting of the original "Destined to remember" from the forthcoming 6th album, "Horizons" due for release on April 15, 2014 and two covers: The Pink Floyd classic "Sheep" and Mr. Misters "Broken wings". The Danish rockers Pretty Maids have released a new video "Nuclear Boomerang" that is taken from the upcoming album "Louder Than Ever, set to release March 21st 2014
After celebrating their 30th Anniversary as a band and the release of their latest monumental release "Motherland", the Danish melodic hard rockers are serving the fans with "Louder Than Ever". This is not a completely new album but consists of eight re-recorded classic songs from the 1995 - 2006 era plus four brand new songs specially written for this record and a special bonus DVD including archive footage from the 80's, brand new interviews and plenty of cool material for the fans!
"The reason for doing this project is to give those songs a different spin with the band and producer we have now" explains singer Ronnie Atkins. It is an in-between album until the band completes the next studio album with new tunes".

Pretty Maids are a Danish hard rock/heavy metal band from Horsens, Denmark. Formed in 1981 by Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer, their sound and music can be described as classic guitar-laden heavy rock with a strong emphasis on melodic elements like vocals and keyboards.
Over the years, Pretty Maids have sold hundreds of thousands of records, but have never broken through in a major way, except in Japan during the 1990s. They have supported well known bands as Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, and Saxon, and were also featured at the 1987 German version of Monsters of Rock, where Metallica headlined along with Deep Purple.
After a prolonged international touring hiatus before the release of the 2006 Wake Up To The Real World album, the band have every year since been touring their primary markets of Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Spain.

Gas Giant an Danish power psych rockers, a band that does not officially exist anymore (the three main guys still play together and make music), in 2000, they released "Pleasant Journey in Heavy Tunes" this all time classic record.
The record includes todays tune, what is now a stoner rock classic, “Too Stoned” (it was the first song on the High times Magazine compilation, High Volume: The Stoner Rock Collection 2004). The band had previously recorded this song on the Blind Man Buff EP two years before but were not totally satisfied with it.
The tune starts off with the sound of a water pipe where the guitar kicks in slow and beautiful before he killer bassline kicks in. This is a slow and lightly spacey powerful tune that really get hold on you.
