D-A-D - A Prayer For The Loud

New week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".

"A Prayer For The Loud" is the twelfth release by the Danish finest rock band D-A-D. The album was released by AFM Records on May 31st, 2019

It took them eight long years to carve this one out, since their last album, "DIC·NII·LAN·DAFT·ERD·ARK". A band that has been very active playing live already lost the count how many time I have seen them live, but it always has been a pleasure for sure. And now they are back with some new music, after the first spin I have a big smile on my face. D-A-D have made it again, Jesper Binzer with his recognizable nasal voice that still sounds magic and his lyrics are very intelligent. Jacob Binzer guitar work is cleaver and truly amazing. Laust Sonne's drums sound really good and he plays it like Harry Potter waves his wand, it some kind of magic. Stig Pedersen bass licks flow like a stream of strawberries on the ice cake, a sunny day in Copenhagen.

"A Prayer For The Loud" contains 11 tunes with a respectable run time of 44 mins. There are plenty of goodies here, like the first tune "Burning Star", an uptempo classic D-A-D track that blows up with drums and guitar inferno. Some really neat and well-played guitars by Jacob. Jespers lyrics is cleaver...like the line "I’ve got a bad case of I told you so, and it's hard to hold my tongue". The title tune "A Prayer For The Loud" has a beautiful blues-inspired touch and a melody driving verse. "The Sky Is Made Of Blues" is a driven bluesy piece and the "A Drug For The Heart" is a killer passionate ballad. There are a few rockers like "Nothing Ever Changes" that has the classic D-A-D sound and layout, same goes with the freak out "Musical Chairs" or the catchy "The Real Me" the psychedelic rocker "Time Is A Train" and the guitar-based "Happy Days In Hell". The album closer "If The World Just" is another slower approach piece that wraps this album in golden paper and a silver bow. Well done guys.

Sum: "A Prayer For The Loud" is a super fun and really enjoyable record, a must have if you are a D-A-D fan.
