Tom Waits - Chritmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis

Thomas Alan "Tom" Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, composer and actor. Waits has a distinctive voice and he is well reckon for it. A very good description was made by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car."

Todays Holiday Tune Of The Day is "Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis", a really wonderful tune, Tom at his high class, watch the video below, its great with a Silent Night intro. Originally on Waits' "Blue Valentine" album.

Bob Dylan - Must Be Santa

It's a Bob Dylan Christmas - and it's definitely unique. But it's a classic tune, with a classic man even if this feels a little bizarre, but what the heck its Christmas :)

Todays tune is Bob Dylan's song 'Must Be Santa' directed by Nash Edgerton. The song is taken from his latest album "Christmas in the Heart" It's his 34th studio album and first Christmas album, wonder why he waited so long for this. All of the proceeds from the album are donated to charities.

Enjoy!

Jethro Tull - A Christmas Song

The Jethro Tull Christmas Album is an album released by Jethro Tull on September 30, 2003. The songs are a mix of new material, re-recordings of Tull's own suitably-themed material and arrangements of traditional Christmas music.

Todays tune for Christmas Eve is "A Christmas Song" with Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson, Enjoy!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Once in Royal David's City stood a lowly cattle shed,
where a mother laid her baby.
You'd do well to remember the things He later said.
When you're stuffing yourselves at the Christmas parties,
you'll laugh when I tell you to take a running jump.
You're missing the point I'm sure does not need making;
that Christmas spirit is not what you drink.

So how can you laugh when your own mother's hungry
and how can you smile when the reasons for smiling are wrong?
And if I messed up your thoughtless pleasures,
remember, if you wish, this is just a Christmas song.

The Hives & Cyndi Lauper - A Christmas Duel

"A Christmas Duel" is a special Christmas duet recorded by the Swedish rock band The Hives and American singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper. It was made available as a download-only single on November 19, 2008. The song juxtaposes sweet music with nasty lyrics. As for how the collaboration took place "We came up with the song and we figured it was a duet, and we'd always hoped to do a duet with Cyndi Lauper."
"A Christmas Duel" also appears on NO HO HO: Alternative Christmas Holiday Anthems released on November 10, 2009

As you probably already figure it out is that "Tune of the day" no goes Christmas, the upcoming days we will focus on some great Christmas tunes and this is the first one, Enjoy!

Django Reinhardt - J'attendrai Swing

Jean "Django" Reinhardt; 23 January 1910 – 16 May 1953) was a Gypsy jazz guitarist.

One of the first prominent European jazz musicians, Reinhardt remains one of the most renowned jazz guitarists. With violinist Stéphane Grappelli, he cofounded the Quintette du Hot Club de France, described by critic Thom Jurek as "one of the most original bands in the history of recorded jazz." Reinhardt's most popular compositions have become jazz standards, including "Minor Swing", "Tears", "Belleville", "Djangology", "Swing '42" and "Nuages" (French for "Clouds").

Todays tune is a old one, 1939 is the date, i think this is one of the oldest tune that has been published on the tune of the day. It was very tricky to find any moving fotages on Django, would like to add one of his most popular tunes like "Tears" or "Minor Swing" but this is good aswell, enjoy!

Hellfueled - Midnight Lady

This band singer reminds me a bit of Ozzy....

This is a Swedish band from Huskvarna, started back in 1998.
The band existed in this form under names as "Below" and "Firebug", (which they both had to change because of lawsuit-threats from American bands with the same names), until 1999 when they came up with the bands final name - HELLFUELED!

They play in Gothenburg tonight and on the 31st they play in a small
town called Jönköping.

This tune is from an ep released in dec 2004.

Enjoy,

Thetania

Sonata Arctica - Flag In The Ground

Sonata Arctica is a Finnish power metal band from the town of Kemi, originally assembled in 1996. A few days ago did Sonata visit Stockholm again for a show, this was the last gig on "The Days Of Grays Tour" so it was a little special. They toured with Winterborn (Another Finish Band) and Delain (Dutch Power Metal Band). It was great day/evening with loads of pranks, so it was lots of fun. Same crew as the last 5 times (i think) i have done Sonata, so that was great, chatting, laughing and talking about ski resorts in Levi and how the color on the houses over there is done...lol. Had some time to take some pictures.

Some Sonata Fans.

Sonata members are
Tony Kakko - Vocals, Elias Viljanen - Guitars & Backing, Marko Paasikoski - Bass, Tommy Portimo - Drums, Henrik Klingenberg - Keyboards

The Days of Grays is the sixth full-length studio album by Sonata Arctica, was released on September 16th 2009.

Elvis - Lawdy Miss Clawdy

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), a was an American singer and actor. A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name Elvis. In addition, he is often referred to as the King of Rock and Roll or simply the King. And i guess no more presentation is needed of this man.

Earlier this week it was a show at Rival, a tribute to the King "Elvis Forever" with Henrik Åberg (born 1976, a Swedish singer who won TV4:s competition program "Sikta mot stjärnorna" 1995, where he imitate Elvis Presleys song Blue Hawaii.) and Jack Baymoore (a Rockabilly singer) It was a pleasant evening with loads of classic Elvis tune.

Todays tune "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" is a song by Lloyd Price. It was first recorded by Price at the New Orleans recording studio of Specialty Records in March of 1952. It was released under the Specialty label in April and was number one on the Billboard rhythm and blues chart for seven weeks and stayed on the chart for six months. An 8-bar blues with a rolicking piano backup, with the words written by Price, but the melody adapted from the older Junker Blues (Champion Jack Dupree, 1941), it became the biggest rhythm and blues hit of the year and sold over one million copies by crossing over to the white record-buying market. It was the first hit from New Orleans to be accepted into rock and roll. The word lawdy means Lord. In 1956 the song was covered by Elvis Presley and stayed on the charts for ten weeks. And many others have covered this tune, even my house band Led Zeppelin did this one (in concert, 1970-72). Enjoy!

Sissel Kyrkjebø,(born 24 June 1969 in Bergen) also simply known as Sissel, is a Norwegian soprano. She is best known for singing the Olympic Hymn (Hymne Olympique) at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, for duets with Plácido Domingo, Charles Aznavour, José Carreras, Neil Sedaka, Warren G, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Josh Groban, Diana Krall, Russell Watson and The Chieftains, and her participation on the Titanic film soundtrack.

During this weekend she visit Stockholm and the Globe with her Christmas tour together with Odd Nordstoga, Real Group, Orsa Spelmän and Krister Henriksson. It was a nice evening with a little different layout that i am use to see when Christmas music is played. The crew was nice, the lightning guy was pretty good with his cues and it was kinda cool to bump into Christer and Sami again.

Here is picture just before the show started, nice position.

Todays tune "Upp gläd er alla" is a Christmas carol with old lyrics by Thomas Kingo (Swedish translation by Py Bäckman), to a new tune by Odd Nordstoga. The song is released on the 2009 album "Strålande jul" with Sissel Kyrkjebø and Odd Nordstoga. This video: Live at the Swedish/Norwegian talkshow "Skavlan", Nov. 5, 2009. Enjoy!

In Flames - Only For The Weak

IN FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any band like them? :D
Yeah might be but for me at that moment it was a huge experience
really freaked me out :D
They were the Headline on the Taste of Chaos tour.
This was the line up:
In Flames
Killswitch Engage
Dead By April
Every Time I Die
Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster

The Taste of Chaos next stop is Gothenburg today and Malmö on the 14th.

I didnt have the opportunity to se them all :/
But I saw In Flames, That was really a ball!
The lights was fantastic, designed by Morgan Brown.
Saw a new light that I didnt see b4,
I think the name of it was Showgun, fantastic light.
Both a spot and a circle outside the spot with small lamps.
Great effect!

Of course was the bang and the boom and the fire there.
Almost the same as at Annexet last time I saw them.

The crowd was totally magic, Anders maked the jump through the floor
Specielly on this very song that i took from another concert.
And at the beginning they lighted their cell phone so it looked
like a heaven full of stars..speakless.

I took a bunch of pictures but the camera isnt here
:/ at the moment so I guess i´ll put in another In Flames
tune soon and get in some pics.

Okey Enjoy and jump to this fantastic tune!!!

Headbang motha´f...er, Thetania
