Taylor Hawkins - Somebody To Love

Another hero has left us, Taylor Hawkins, mostly known as the happy drummer in FOO FIGHTERS.

On March 25, 2022, emergency services were called to the Casa Medina hotel in Bogotá, Colombia, where Hawkins was suffering from chest pain in his hotel room. Health personnel arrived and found Hawkins unresponsive; they performed CPR, but he was declared dead at the scene. No cause of death was given.

Hawkins was scheduled to perform with the FOO FIGHTERS that night at the Estéreo Picnic Festival as part of their ongoing South American tour; the festival stage was turned into a candlelight vigil for Hawkins

Taylor Hawkins performing "Somebody to Love" at his last live perfomance along with FOO FIGHTERS, the song was written by the singer/pianist Freddie Mercury from the British rock band QUEEN. It was orginally released on the band's 1976 album "A Day at the Races". Enjoy this clip from Chile 18/03/2022. R.I.P. Taylor! Thanks for the ride!

Foo Fighters - Everlong

Lollapalooza is over, a great but very long weekend has passed, supurb weather, sun and no rain, happy peoples, lucky child and a satisfied dad. Many good acts played during this festival. GRETA VAN FLEET and THE HELLACOPTERS was the top notch in my book. WOLFMOTHER was also really good, KVELERTAK aswell, cool to see the new singer. BRING ME THE HORIZON had a cool stage set that worked well with the pyro :)

Here are a few pictures from the festival.

There was a few of the building pictures. Rest are a few of the Live shoots I took during the festival.

FOO FIGHTERS live clip

Today's tune goes to the Headliner on Saturday, FOO FIGHTERS are, after a quarter of a century together, in every sense the ultimate rock band. Night after night Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee continue to sell out stadiums and arenas the world over, educating crowds on the life-affirming power of rock n roll. The band's current live show, has been described by Rolling Stone as “explosive and euphoric… wild and combustible at the place where Grohl’s love for punk and classic rock coalesce into something raging and tuneful… a show of enthusiasm that has grown over decades.”

FOO FIGHTERS began 2018 with an Australia / New Zealand stadium tour, continuing to play three-hour-plus rock marathons for capacity crowds over multiple nights at some of the world’s most prestigious venues: Madison Square Garden, Fenway Park in Boston, Wrigley Field in Chicago, London Stadium—plus a return to Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg— the site of the accident that led to the 2015 Broken Leg Tour.

FOO FIGHTERS did bring their explosive and euphoric live show to Lollapalooza Stockholm for a highly anticipated master class in thunderous, heartfelt rock ‘n’ roll.

Today's tune "Everlong" was the last tune that gilded evening air, the tune was released in August 1997 as the second single from their second studio album, "The Colour And The Shape" (1997).

Wolfmother - Love Train

Today we have Aussies finest, the classic rock band WOLFMOTHER, in 2005 they released the eponymous debut, a record that was exactly what rock & roll needed: a meaty, beaty, big and bouncy genre resuscitator that not only broke through to the mainstream, but broke big.

WOLFMOTHER was certified Gold in the States and Triple-Platinum in the band’s Australian homeland. Lead single “Woman” hit top ten on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks Chart and won a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance.” Their songs became ubiquitous, appearing in films (Shrek, Jackass, The Hangover), video games (Need For Speed, MLB: The Show, Saints Row) and television commercials (Apple, Mitsubishi). Led by vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, WOLFMOTHER have amassed a global fanbase, played to packed-house crowds around the world, delivered show-stealing sets at star-studded festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Reading and Leeds, and have been invited to share stages with rock icons Aerosmith and AC/DC. For their induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame, Led Zeppelin personally invited Wolfmother as their guests (the band showed their appreciation by delivering an electrifying cover of “Communication Breakdown”).

But ten years after their arrival, WOLFMOTHER have returned with what could arguably be called their best work to date. With "Victorious", Stockdale once again arrives right on time: in an era dominated by single-song downloads, this is an album worthy of repeat listens from top to bottom. Following 2009’s "Cosmic Egg" and 2014’s "New Crown", the much-anticipated "Victorious" is an electrifying testament to the range and depth of Stockdale’s artistry. Recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with two-time Grammy winning producer Brendan O’Brien (PEARL JAM, SOUNDGARDEN, Bruce Springsteen), the songs are edgy, inventive and uncompromising and rank among the band’s best ever.

WOLFMOTHER will perform at Park Stage today, Sunday 6/30, 6:30pm-7:30pm

Today's tune "Love Train" is a song featured on the 2006 international version of their debut studio album Wolfmother. "Love Train" was released as the fifth single on 18 September 2006.

The music video for "Love Train" was directed by Jay Martin, who described it as a combination of "band portraits and epic, heroic performance."

"Love Train" was noted for being featured in an iPod advertisement. It was also featured in The Hangover Part II.

Perry Farrell - Pirate Punk Politician

Perry Farrell — JANES ADDICTION and PORNO PYROS frontman and Lollapalooza founder—has announced his first solo album in 18 years. "Kind Heaven" is out June 7 via BMG.

Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra will perform at Park Stage on Sunday 6/30, 8:30pm-9:30pm

Today's tune "Pirate Punk Politician" is the lead single from "Kind Heaven". Farrell calls the tune “a good old fashioned protest song about today’s strongmen and their tactics of oppression”.

"Kind Heaven" follows 2001’s Song Yet to Be Sung and the 2011 JANES ADDICTION record "The Great Escape Artist". The new album features a collective of musicians called Perry Farrell’s King Heaven Orchestra. It also includes contributions from Dhani Harrison (George Harrison’s son), the CARS’ Elliot Easton, FOO FIGHTERS’ Taylor Hawkins, and others. It was co-produced by Farrell and David Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti.

In 2005, music producer Tor Hyams approached Farrell with the idea of creating a kids' stage with family-friendly fare at Lollapalooza. Kidzapalooza came to be that year, produced by Hyams and continues to this day with guests like Slash, Patti Smith and LeAnn Rimes appearing in the lineup of artists. Kidzapalooza makes Lollapalooza Stockholm a great festival for all ages – a world full of adventure and experiences for the whole family. Take your kids to see your favorite bands and retreat back to an area filled with entertainment and activities that encourage playfulness, creativity and laughter.

Enjoy lots of performances every day on the Kidzapalooza stage “Tältscenen”, with exciting acts such as James Hollingworth, Britta Persson, Orkester Pop, Oscar Danielson, Maria Llerena – among other activities such as a mini disco and theater shows.

Enjoy today's tune with Perry Farrell performs "Pirate Punk Politician" for the Tonight Show audience.

Greta Van Fleet - Safari Song

A new dawn of rock ‘n’ roll is on the horizon. Channeling the spirits of and creativity of 70’s acts like LED ZEPPELIN, THE DOORS and THE WHO, the Michigan-band GRETA VAN FLEET became an overnight sensation and brought the attention of the world upon them. With their self-declared goal to spread peace, love and unity, the Kiszka brothers together with drummer Danny Wagner, struck gold in the hearts of their fans. 2017, GRETA VAN FLEETs first year as a professional band was a wild ride of sold-out concerts in North America and Europe, glowing press, accolades from a slew of fellow artists, millions of YouTube video plays and Spotify streams, and most importantly, the genesis of an extraordinary connection with their fans.

The four young musicians – twin brothers Josh and Jake Kiszka, younger brother Sam and friend Danny Wagner – found their passion for rock as they grew up listening through their parents’ extensive vinyl record collections, which helped give birth to the music they make today: a high-energy hybrid of rock ’n’ roll, blues and soul. Debut single "Highway Tune" topped Billboard US Mainstream Rock for four weeks in a row, while their debut full-length album from earlier this year, "Anthem of the Peaceful Army", took a similar journey when it topped the Billboard following its release. The band’s collective goal is to have people walk out of their live shows feeling invigorated, energized and exhilarated, and to take that feeling out into the world. With millions of listeners worldwide, a chart-topping album and an energizing live show, GRETA VAN FLEET are ready for Lollapalooza.

GRETA VAN FLEET performs on Tower Stage on Saturday 6/29, 7:30pm-8:30pm

Today's tune "Safari Song" taken from the second EP "From the Fires", here GRETA VAN FLEET performs the tune during a 101WKQX intimate session in The Lounge, enjoy!

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Crowbar

Forget everything you know about Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. Cast aside the savage brilliance of 2015 debut "Blossom" and Top Ten follow up "Modern Ruin". Erase from your mind a live show which remains the most thrillingly visceral experience in contemporary rock. Because everything they’ve done up until now has been leading to their jaw-dropping third album, "End Of Suffering".

Just six months in the making, End Of Suffering - named after the Buddhist term for enlightenment- is the sound of a band entering an entirely new realm of the senses. A forty minute rock’n’rollercoaster of molten-hot bangers, scorched-soul ballads and grunge lullabies laced through with a lacerating lyrical honesty, it’s both a stadium sized declaration of intent and a deeply personal cri-de-coeur.

Recording in Blackwood’s ‘shoebox-sized’ studio in Clapham, the band tapped into this kinetic energy, laying tracks down quickly rather than trying to recapture the feel of the demos. Following additional sessions at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, a final layer of sonic stardust came via mixing legend Alan Moulder (NINE INCH NAILS/QOTSA).

The result is End Of Suffering. it pulsates with ideas, energy and –crucially- cracking tunes. ‘Kitty Sucker’ - where Frank leers “I’m a punk rock renegade/ A tattooed motherfucker dripping lust for decade” is designed to create mosh pit mayhem, while Tyrant Lizard King is more vicious still- the musical equivalent of a bloodthirsty knifefight between Muse and Kasabian on the set of Peaky Blinders.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes will perform at Park Stage on Saturday 6/29, 1:30pm-2:15pm

Today's tune "Crowbar" is taken from the latest album "End Of Suffering", enjoy!

Lana Del Rey - Mariners Apartment Complex

There are very few artists that can sculp a universe of their own. Where every detail is compelling and every phrase is true and sincere. Lana Del Rey is among those chosen few. The line between the woman born Elisabeth Woolridge Grant and Lana Del Rey is as needless as comparing her to other artists. The Queen of Sadness can’t be of this world. From a poolside in a glamorous ruin Lana Del Rey has proven time and time again that she is nothing less than a masterful storyteller. Old Hollywood, vintage music, rockets, the Kennedys and Marilyn Manson – even though her lyrics are filled with nostalgia they remain highly contemporary and the same goes for the gloomy, dramatic music. Always cinematic and orchestral, topped with hip-hop beats and girl-group harmonies. If you add some of the best songs written this millennium, it is obvious that this is her time and we are blessed to be sharing it with her.

Lana Del Rey released her masterpiece "Lust For Life" in 2017 but shows no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year she gave us the two singles "Mariners Apartment Complex" and "Venice Bitch", both taken from the coming album named "Norman Fucking Rockwell".

Gärdet, prepare to be transformed into Lana-land because this summer the Queen of Sadness will travel to Sweden for a highly anticipated show at Lollapalooza.

Lana Del Rey will perform at Bay Stage Fri 6/28, 9:15pm-10:30pm

Today's tune "Mariners Apartment Complex", is a song by American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, released on September 12, 2018, through Polydor and Interscope Records, as the first “fan single” from her upcoming studio album, "Norman Fucking Rockwell" (2019). The song marks the first collaboration between Del Rey and Jack Antonoff, who wrote and produced the song together.

"The song is about this time I took a walk late at night with a guy I was seeing, and we stopped in front his friend's apartment complex, and he put his hand around my shoulder, and he said "I think we are together because we're both similar, like we're both really messed up" and I thought it was the saddest thing I'd ever heard. And I said, "I'm not sad, I didn't know that's why you thought you were relating to me on that level, I'm actually doing pretty good". And he was upset, and that's when I wrote the song. I thought, I had to do so many times, where you know like I had to sort of step on that role where I was showing the way and I was sort of being the brighter light. But that's why it's so cool that you’re playing it. 'Cause I thought that I'd just put it out and it would be one of those things that I'd put out just to have there for myself, but it's cool being able to share it with people too."

Bring Me The Horizon - Wonderful Life

Becoming one of the world’s most successful rock bands was never in the prophecy for BRING ME THE HORIZON. Yet here they are, mostly thanks to themselves and their ambition to carve their own faith no matter what. And Sheffield’s own BRING ME THE HORIZON has never walked the path of least resistance. Starting out as a deathcore band, switching to metalcore before finally creating their own space somewhere in between heavy metal and pop. The music remained crushingly heavy and brutally effective, but also began to incorporate elements of keyboards and odd electronic twists. The vocals evolved as well. Lead singer Oli Sykes started experimenting with a variety of expression to channel his inner turmoil. But whether Sykes screams, sings, growls or whispers it remains therapeutic and relatable.

With their grand, eclectic album "That’s The Spirit" (2015) BRING ME THE HORIZON demanded to be seen in a new light and cemented their position as a gateway band to heavy music. The album received critical acclaim and was rightfully dubbed “future-proof rock”. After a cryptic campaign, signs reading “do you wanna join my cult?”, BRING ME THE HORIZON returned earlier this year with immediate fan-favorite MANTRA which was followed by the bluesy wonderful filth, featuring Dani Filth from CRADLE OF FILTH, both from their coming sixth studio album "amo" that also includes a collaboration with Grimes. This summer, BRING ME THE HORIZON will bring their tight, loud, well-oiled rock machine to Lollapalooza!

BRING ME THE HORIZON will perform at Park Stage Sat 6/29, 8:30pm-9:30pm

Today's tune "Wonderful Life" taken from the new album "aмo". "Wonderful Life" featuring CRADLE OF FILTH vocalist Dani Filth. Produced by the band's vocalist Oliver Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish, the track was released as the second single from the album on 21 October 2018.

Halestorm - Uncomfortable

New week and no "Record Of The Week" which hereby takes a little break and comes back to the fall.

This week we focus a little on who comes to the festival Lollapalooza, we will take a little closer look on a few bands that I find interesting and next week we summarize everything.

First out is the true legend of how the two siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale, at the time 13 and 10 years old, agreed to start a band that were going to stick together through thick and thin is widely spread by now. The fact that they now, 21 years later, still honors that contract is quite moving. Together with Josh Smith and John Joe Hottinger they make up the Pennsylvania-based post-grunge/metal quartet HALESTORM. One of the most successful hard rock groups to emerge during the 21st century. Their aggressive but hook-heavy sound has taken the band around the world and won them a huge fanbase, restlessly performing several hundreds of show each year. HALESTORM is fronted by the incomparably charismatic vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale. Her truly blessed pipes has that rare ability to dance on the verge of exploding, but also knowing when to hold back. With a vocal range that impressing it makes understanding how Halestorm so seamlessly can incorporate both piano ballads and sing-along choruses to their expression, without ever losing the rawness, easier.

HALESTORM released their self-titled debut in 2009 which immediately caught the attention of rock lovers. 2013 saw their sophomore effort "The Strange Case Of…" that won them a Grammy for Best Hardrock/Metal Performance. After "Into The Wild" (2015) with four top 10 mainstream hits, HALESTORM returned last year with the widely celebrated "Vicous". Here we find the golden children of modern rock once again waving the flag of rock with pride and power. But HALESTORMs live show remains their backbone and given the fact the band barely left the road for the last 20 years, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are considered to be one of the greatest live acts around.

HALESTORM will perform on the Park Stage Fri 6/28, 5:00pm-6:00pm

Today's tune "Uncomfortable" is taken from the bands latest album "Vicious", enjoy!
