Parcels - Lightenup

Day two of Popaganda contained an interesting line up of bands like LOVA, Linnea Henriksson, PALE WAVES, MWUANA, BIPOLAR SUNSHINE, Tove Styrke, PARCELS, METRONOMY, Jenny Wilson and Veronica Maggio.

PARCELS, the young disco-pop breakthrough band hailing from Australia and going to release their debut album. The first emerging band ever to collaborate with the legendary DAFT PUNK (Overnight single – summer 2017). PARCELS make immaculately polished MOR pop that would sound at home in the company of CHIC or 70s-era FLEETWOOD MAC.

PARCELS did a hell of a show at Popaganda, absolutely the best live performance that day at Erikdalsbadet, extremely hard to stand still during their set.

PARCELS composed of Louie Swain (keyboards), Patrick Hetherington (keyboards), Noah Hill (bass), Anatole "Toto" Serret (drums) and Jules Crommelin (guitar). The band formed in 2014 while at high school in Byron Bay, Australia, and are now based in Berlin, Germany.

Caesars Palace - Jerk It Out

CAESARS is a Swedish indie rock band. In their native Sweden, the band was originally known as CAESARS PALACE, a name which was changed to avoid conflicting with the name of the Las Vegas hotel. In the rest of Scandinavia, they are known as TWELVE CAESARS. Elsewhere they go by the name CAESARS. Band member Joakim Åhlund is also a founding member of the TEDDYBEARS.

After CAESARS released their fifth studio album "Strawberry Weed" they decided to put the band on hold until further notice. In December 2017 CAESARS played a surprise reunion gig in Stockholm, their first since 2009. In May 2018 the band was announced as part of the lineup of this year's Popaganda Festival were I spent my weekend. And CAESARS ended the evening on stage 2 with a really great show.  Other band that played on Popaganda on Friday was Jens Lekman, PALE HONEY, Sarah Klang, Hanna Järver, LITTLE DRAGON, SLOWDIVE, FRANZ FERDINAND and FIRST AID KIT.

Today's tune "Jerk It Out" is a song that was released in April 2003 as the lead single from their album "Love for the Streets"; it is also featured on the follow-up "Paper Tigers" in remixed form. The song's appearance on charts was helped by prolific use in mid-2000s media, including commercials for the iPod Shuffle, Mobiltel, Nivea, Coca-Cola (in South Africa and Indonesia) as well as a 2009 Renault Mégane spot. Furthermore, it was used in the video games Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova (arcade and PlayStation 2 versions), FIFA Football 2004, Just Dance, Rock Band 3 (as downloadable content), Samba de Amigo (downloadable content for the Wii version), SSX 3, and LMA Manager.

The song was part of the soundtrack of many films, including The Benchwarmers, Captivity, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Fun with Dick and Jane and Yours, Mine and Ours. It featured in trailers for Knight and Day, The Pink Panther and Garfield Gets Real, while the remix of the song was used in the trailer for Clerks II.

The song was used in the car sketch in the Eddsworld episode "Random Bits".

The song was included in the TV series Dawson's Creek, the HBO series Entourage, NCIS, the British series Teachers, and the dancing game Just Dance.

In 2017, it was sampled by rapper Tiggs Da Author in his song "Work It Out".

Enjoy!

Hurula - Ont Som Jag

Last weekend it was time for the yearly festival Popaganda, the last one of the year 2017, the autumn is here again, the darkness is waiting in the corner.

This years Popaganda did include acts like THE VACCINS, PHOENIX, TOVE LO, alt-J, Oscar Lindros, RADIO DEPT, HURULA among others. As a man like me don't really fit in the area like this, to little rock to please my heart. To be honest, not many band was familiar to me at all, except the northern rock band HURULA and Oscar Lindros. And I was pretty lucky, I had HURULA on my stage and he was furious and angry that resulted in a freaking good show, the lyrics are in Swedish and have a little punkish feeling.

Here is some photos from the phone, quickies during the evening so the quality is not the best, but better than nothing,

The Duck is on it's way to get placed on the safe spot in the festival :)

Kate Nash - Fri-end?

During this weekend my ears is filled with pop again. The music festival Popaganda is running at Eriksdalsbadet, Stockholm, Sweden, on the 30th-31st of August 2013.

The Popaganda festival and club are arranged by the Popaganda organization in association with Luger. This year is the sixth time that the Popaganda festival is arranged at Eriksdalsbadet in Stockholm. It is the eleventh festival since the start in 2002, back then located on the campus of the Stockholm University.

One of the artist on my stage yesterday was Kate Nash, a girl that I do like, even if she has become more crazier than last time I saw her live, but this was really good.

In the mid-00's Kate Nash became one of the leading figures of the so-called "MySpace" artists, got a record deal and hit big. She got an explosive breakthrough in 2007, when her debut album "Made of Bricks" reached the British album chart first place.

Six years later and two additional albums into her career, she started her own label and focused more and more on guitar-based Riot Grrrl-punk rather than kind piano-pop. And the new turn is pretty cool and last night it was pretty crazy on the stage when a bunch of kids was invited to dance with her, so that the entire stage swayed, almost so that the stage floor went to pieces. Lucky that it didn't break.

Todays tune "Fri-End?" taken from the third album "Girl Talk". Nash self-released the album under Have 10p Records along with Fontana in March 2013 after she raised money for the album on PledgeMusic. Girl Talk has received mixed to positive reviews from critics. Featuring a heavier rock-influenced sound, the album is a noticeable departure from her first two indie pop albums. Lyrically, it draws a lot of influence from the Riot Grrrl movement. Girl Talk did not achieve the chart success of its predecessors, and its singles "3AM" and "OMYGOD!" failed to chart. The third Single "Fri-End?" from Girl Talk will be released on 7 October.

The vinyl LP version of the record was pressed by United Record Pressing in Nashville, TN.
