Seasick Steve - Dog House Boogie

Steven Gene Wold, commonly known as Seasick Steve (born 1951 but as far as i know this isn't confirmed as don't like to talk about his age and like to keep this as little secret), is an American bluesman,
although he prefers to be called "a song and dance man." He plays guitars (personalized), and sings,
usually about his early life living rough and doing casual work.

Yesterday this man did a marvelous gig @ Debaser/Stockholm, Sweden.
And it was a hell of a show, i could not stand still for a min.
Steve was a bit ill, but still he gave what he could, he did puke just before the extra number.
Steve is a good story telling man and like to share his past, he talks about his family and his beloved dog (Boss)
His music is real farmer blues as we call it back in Sweden. Its a good driven blues.
Its also fun that the drummer is Swedish and all the way from Åmål.

Here is a picture from the soundcheck.
I apologize for the poor picture, my camera is broken so i borrowed one (Sanyo)
But i will get my camera back soon i hope, i really miss it, did take some good once for a compact.

The Three-String Trance Wonder - This is a normal guitar, but with only three strings.
It has an old Harmony pickup added (with duct tape)
At his gigs, he often tells the story that he bought it for $75 in this condition in Como, Mississippi from a man named Sherman, who later told him he only paid $25 for it the day before. He would never to add another string, and that he would tour the world telling his story of how Sherman ripped him off. But all is good as Sherman is a good buddy.
A lot of the time he also adds (while picking up or putting away the guitar) that it is the "...biggest piece of shit in the world, I swear". Beside this and the other guitars he use a The 'MDM' (Mississippi Drum Machine) its a small wooden box that is stomped upon, providing percussion.

Seasick Steve singing his track Dog House Boogie, originally performed on Jools Hollands Hootenanny.
This time live at the Thekla Social in Bristol on the 17th of April 2007.
Enjoy todays tune!

Rocco DeLuca and The Burden - Save Yourself

Rocco DeLuca and the Burden(Formed late 2005)are a four-piece American alternative rock band from California. Previous to this Rocco DeLuca was a solo artist who opened for artists like Taj Mahal, John Mayall and John Lee Hooker, and played with Johnny Cash.

Their influences range from Mississippi John Hurt, Ravi Shankar, Pink Floyd and Mahalia Jackson.

Rocco DeLuca (born December 27, 1975 in Torrance, California) is a half Italian, half German.
He represented by a label, Ironworks, created by actor Kiefer Sutherland and producer Jude Cole. DeLuca is known for his use of the Dobro.

The band has a mascot, a human-sized pink bunny who drinks and chain-smokes at his gigs, seen exclusively in the documentary "I Trust You To Kill Me"
Another thing to mention is that Kiefer Sutherland was thier tour manager for some time, 10 days to be precise then he was fired.
Sutherland explains, "I toured with the band last year. I was their road manager. I had to get them up on time. . . . In all fairness I only did it for 10 days, but it was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. . . . I was fired. I was never happier to come back to 24 — I felt safe there. Musicians are nuts."

Dobro

Dobro is a trade name now owned by Gibson Guitar Corporation and used for a particular design of resonator guitar.

U2 - Get On Your Boots

U2 is back with a electro grunge, fuzzed-out rocker with sprinkle hip-hop wibes tune that picks up where "Vertigo" left off.

The band had begun work on their 12th album "No Line on the Horizon" already
in 2006, originally writing and recording with producer Rick Rubin,
but the material was shelved, i guess the guys wasnt happy with it.
The band subsequently chose to begin writing and recording for the album with producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno in 2007.

The band completed No Line on the Horizon in December 2008, and it is scheduled to be released on 2 March 2009.

Todays tune "Get on Your Boots" is the album's lead single.

U2 - Get On Your Boots

In an interview posted on 15 February 2009 with Sean O'Hagan of The Guardian, Bono stated that U2 would release another album by the end of the year consisting of material recorded during the sessions for No Line on the Horizon. Bono says it will be "a more meditative album on the theme of pilgrimage".

Mando Diao - Dance With Somebody

Mando Diao the Swedish garage rock band from Borlänge is back again
with a new record "Give Me Fire".
"Dance With Somebody" is the first single and todays tune, even if it
ain't a Whitney Huston cover its a musical declaration of what these
guys can deliver with their fifth album.
The guys sounds really happy when they give out their hands for a dance.
Its a very neat record and i feel that they have grown a bit since the last
album, i felt like they have listen to Franz Ferdinand and some
old Northern Soul tunes, the album is very groovy and touches soils like
Rock, Garage, Soul and Disco. But i do like the mix of various styles in a pan.
So i warmly recommend this record.
Enjoy todays tune.

Listen to it @ Spotify or the album @ Spoitfy

Dan Auerbach - When the Night Comes

If i say Dan Auerbach? Most of you will raise your shoulders or you might blink an eye.
But if i Say The Black Keys some of you will start to smile or even clap your hands. Now that definitely rings a bell, right?
He is best known as the guitarist and vocalist for The Black Keys, the blues rock band from Akron, Ohio.

Daniel Q. Auerbach (born May 14, 1979) is a multi-instrumentalist and now he is ready for a his own thing.
He just release his solo album, "Keep It Hid"
The album was recorded in Auerbach's Akron Analog studio using mainly analog and vintage equipment.
This record is a mixture of things psychadelia, blues, soul music and country harmonies.

I really like this album so i picked one of the songs from it (was really hard to pick so i guess more Auerbach will come) for todays tune. I feel a little sentimental today so i guess a smooth thing will suite just fine. I couln't find any good moving picture so today its only the tune, but i guess thats fine enough.
Enjoy!

Outkast - Happy Valentine's Day

(Saint) Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery.
The day was originally a pagan festival that was renamed after two Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines". Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards.

We wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day!
Here is OutKast is an American hip hop duo based out of East Point, Georgia.
With a nice tune to wish you all a Happy Valentine.

The duo was originally known as The OKB (The OutKast Brothers) but later changed its name to OutKast.
The group's original musical style was a mixture of Dirty South and G-Funk.
Since then, however, funk, soul, pop, electronic music, rock, spoken word poetry, jazz, and blues elements have been added to the group's musical palette. The duo consists of Atlanta native André "André 3000" Benjamin (formerly known as Dré) and Savannah, Georgia-born Antwan "Big Boi" Patton.

Saxon - Live To Rock

Saxon are an English heavy metal band, formed in 1977 in Barnsley, Yorkshire. As leading lights in the
New Wave of British Heavy Metal they had huge success in the 1980s.
They still tour heavily and regularly. Their latest tour is their largest in the UK since the late 1980s.
They are considered as one of the strongest live acts in the heavy metal genre.
Yesterday they entred Swedish soil together with Iced Earth on thier Battalions of Steel World Tour.
They played @ Tyrol/Stockholm and gave the fans what they wanted, mixed various classic stuff with new material.
First song "Battalions Of Steel" on the new album "Into the Labyrinth" was the opening tune, very powerful.
I belive most of the fans got goose skin. Songs like Power & Glory, Princess, Denim & Leather & Crusader was played.
Biff (age 58) still has his carisma as an rock star and his deep powerful voice.
Todays tune is the song that was the 1st extra number thay gave "Live To Rock"
This video is a great one and its Swedish :)

Last weekend, 7th & 8th Anna did a double gig @ Circus.
She wasnt alone this time, she had her band on tour.
The stage was cosy with black carpets and all the cables nicely drawn.
The backdrop was the album cover art splitted in 3 pieces with one big drop and
two small once on eash side.
She did well, even if i think the sound was a litte bit to loud for this type of show.
Todays tune is a nice tune with Anna, check it out.

Sonic Syndicate - Denied

Saturday night this band playd at Klubben in Stockholm.
Great Gig, and the audience loved it and the place was really crowded.

These guys are really down to earth nice people and whats making em to stick out a bit is that they have a woman Karin on the base and 2 male singers. These singers Roland and Richard are really diffrent, although i dont know em, but it seemed after doing 3 gigs (2 last year and then this one) with them, that they r really diffrent but charing their music. Did you guys know that the Richard and the both gitarr players Robin and Roger are brothers.

Its very liveful and they give 110%, i enjoyed hearing and looking at them.

They supposed to have 2 support band Dead by April and Union Square but one of the guys in Dead by April was sick, so they cancelled. Union Square was a suprise Ill try get something from them at a later date.

Enjoy this older video!

as she is working there, i bumped in for a few and notice that thier stageplot has grown since the last time with alot of new stuff. More of that later.

Back ontrack...
And yes Deathstars was a bit nervous, but they deliverd some great stuff.
A cool thing that i notice was that Skinny had his wife and 4 yrs old daugther there and the kid
was waveing to the crowed minutes before they entred the stage, the crowed waved back and in return the kid
showed the magic fingers and crowed screamed back. That was really cool to see.

This song is the first single from their debut album Drunken Trees "2008" which was released by The Knifes record company Rabid Records.

the tune "Jagadamba You Might" i see a great future for these girls.
Also heard that the younger girl will take some time off from school to be able to put all the energy on the duo.
I wish them all the luck and yes i will buy the album "Drunken Trees"
And i suggest that you do the same if you feel this is something you like.
