After years of traveling through space looking for new worlds, on May 8th Italian stoner rockers KAYLETH return to their home planet with the highly anticipated release of their third full-length album titled "2020 Back to Earth", via their mothership Argonauta Records. While each of the band's records tells a story, this time KAYLETH finds the earth in a disastrous condition, a planet mutilated by its humans. But KAYLETH won't give up. The wish to understand how life works and express it through music is a springboard to change the world with their sound. And this is a heavy dose of the Doom, Psychedelic, and Stoner hailing from the realms of Space Rock. Today, KAYLETH has not only shared the details about "2020 Back to Earth" with cosmic album artwork.

KAYLETH was born in Verona, Italy in 2005 with the target to create a heavy riff-based rock band, inspired by KYUSS, ORANGE GOBLIN, 7ZUMA7, and MONSTER MAGNET.

Massimo Dalla Valle (guitar),
Daniele Pedrollo (drums),
Michele Montanari (synth),

Orange Goblin - Beginners Guide To Suicide

Sunday, time for a classic.

"Beginners Guide To Suicide" is the last tune on ORANGE GOBLINs sixth full-length album "Healing Through Fire", released in 2007. This was their first album released on Sanctuary Records, and their first not to be released by Rise Above Records. Ben Ward said of the album:

"It's not a concept album at all, but we are using the theme of the Great Plague of London and the Great Fire that followed for a lot of lyrical and musical influence. It's definitely the strongest material we have written".

A limited number of copies came with a bonus DVD. The DVD features a live set recorded at The Mean Fiddler in London on December 16, 2006 and also includes some interviews and studio footage.

The art for the record incorporated the Latin phrase, written on the outer edge, "Nam ut quisque est vir optimus, ita difficillime esse alios improbos suspicatur." This phrase is from the writings of Cicero, a Roman orator, and can be translated as, "The more virtuous any man is, the less easily does he suspect others to be vicious."

ORANGE GOBLIN are a space rock band from London, England. Formed in 1995, the band's lineup currently consists of singer Ben Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare, bassist Martyn Millard, and drummer Chris Turner.

Today's tune "Beginners Guide To Suicide" is filmed at Desertfest London 2015 - from The Electric Ballroom, Camden Friday 24th April. With guests Jonny "Honkeyfinger" Halifax (JONNY HALIFAX & THE HOWLING TRUTH) on slide and mouth organ and, out of shot, Harry Armstrong (THE EARLS OF MARS) on keys. Played live for the first time at Desertfest and a part of OG's 20th anniversary celebrations.

3rd Ear Experience - The Drone

The California based space rock band, 3RD EAR EXPERIENCE, are back with their 5th studio album "Stoned Gold". The first taste out on Spotify is the tune "The Drone", a 12-minute space exploring with a lot of emotional qualities.

The album was recorded at a studio in Joshua Tree, CA. Several guest musicians help to fill out the sound and vibe. A few of the songs contain singing like on the powerful "No Walls, No Wars" but mostly the album is instrumental.

The release of "Stoned Gold" will be accompanied by a short book in 7" format written by Robbi Robb called "The Art of the Jam Band". The Art of the Jam Band is an inspiring companion to anyone interested in the art of free-form improvisation in the context of a band.

The band was formed by AmritaKripa and Robbi Robb as a means of documenting and sharing their experimental psychedelic space jams held at various locations in the Mojave Desert including a variety of musicians. They are known to be specialists in blending elements of psychedelic and space rock along with touches of prog, krautrock, and World music. The music shows more of a passion for exploration than a respect for boundaries.

Today's tune "The Drone" is taken from the 5th album "Stoned Gold", enjoy this trippy piece!

Arcadea - Army of Electrons

5 billion years after the last great extinction, where the impending collision of galaxies creates a new order of planets. Where cold, distant moons pledge alliance to new suns and expanding gas giants implode into black holes. Ancient drones, forever adrift, record toxic tales of love between dying stars. Where lifeforms in suspended animation, dream among the ice rings of Saturn and cosmic war wages among gods and planets. It is in this universe that ”Arcadea" reign supreme as the last surviving space wizards since the final extinction. The galaxy Andromeda spins headlong into the Milky Way with three intergalactic travelers in tow.

Drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor (MASTODON), Guitarist/keyboardist Core Atoms (ZRUDA, GAYLORD) and Keyboardist/guitarist Raheem Amlani (WITHERED, SCARAB) are said pioneers, the space wizards of psychedelic soundscapes where organic drums collide with synthetic keys to create an infinite transmission from an event horizon. They go by ARCADEA and their otherworldly brand of psyche-electric, synth-driven, metallic madness sounds alien yet somehow familiar.
ARCADEA's visionary, self-produced, self-titled debut was mastered by Colin Leonard (MASTODON) and features stunning cover art from renowned sci-fi fantasy artist Essy May.

”Arcadea” is 10 tune electronic commodore 64 odyssey with influences of MASTODON, recorded at Orange Peel Studios in Atlanta, GA. The self-titled debut record was released via Relapse Records this June.

Unlike their other bands, ARCADEA uses only keyboards in a unique blend of crushing, organic drums and psychedelic synthesizers. The music is at once electronic but not electronica, synthetic but not processed, heavy but not metal.

Today’s tune "Army of Electrons”, taken from the self titled debut album ”Arcadea”.

Ainigma - All Things Are Fading

Sunday, time for a classic tune. Today I have dig deep into the pile of odd stuff and found an obscure early 1970's German rock band named AINIGMA, they are from the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria. Their influences were, primarily from British heavy rock/prog/psych, notably ATOMIC ROOSTER. Their sound was rough, trashy, gloomy and dramatic, the atmosphere is in Krautrock/ psych/ spacerock, a pretty good band indeed.

Lead singer Willy Kluter played also organ, Wolfgang Netzer played both bass and electric guitars and sung backing vocals, and Michael Kluter did the drumming.

This german band band was active during 1972 to 1974, and they released only one album titled "Diluvium."

Todays tune "All Things Are Fading" is taken from the one and only album "Diluvium", enjoy

Hawkwind - The Watcher

Sunday classic time! Today we invite one of the earliest space rock groups Hawkwind to play up a tune.

Hawkwind are an English rock band. Their lyrics favour urban and science fiction themes. They are considered a key link between the hippie and punk cultures. Hawkwind are primarily known for playing "space-rock", a hybrid of hard-rock and acid-rock that united the sonic power of the former and the free improvisation of the latter. Formed in November 1969, Hawkwind have gone through many incarnations and styles of music. Dozens of musicians, dancers and writers have worked with the group since their inception.

The '1999' Party is a live album by Hawkwind recorded at the Chicago Auditorium Theatre on 21 March 1974 released retrospectively in November 1997 by EMI. It was issued for the first time as part of EMI's re-releasing re-mastered versions of the Hawkwind back catalogue. A further budget single disk derived from this set titled Hawkwind Live 74 was issued in April 2006.

Hawkwind first toured North America in November and December 1973 undertaking 10 dates performing the Space Ritual set, albeit without Robert Calvert and Dik Mik who had left in July. On that tour Del Dettmar had bought land in Canada with the intention of emigrating, but remained with the band playing from the mixing desk rather than the stage until eventually leaving in June 1974. Simon House, who had known the band from his time with High Tide, was brought in playing alongside Dettmar and accompanied the band on this tour but, not being able to get the correct work permit in time, his participation was strictly unofficial.

Despite bad reviews, low album sales, lack of promotion and interest from their US record company, Hawkwind self-financed this North America tour safe in the knowledge that they could fill halls. Under the banner The 1999 Party, it ran from March through April 1974 and included the full stage show featuring DJ Andy Dunkley, dancer Stacia and light show by Liquid Len, with a one-hour slot for the support band Man.

The Berkeley date was in benefit of Timothy Leary who had been imprisoned after being extradited from Afghanistan for his use and promotion of drugs. A phone call from his cell was broadcast over the PA interrupting the Man set. At the Nashville date "their equipment sustained damage estimated at nearly £1000 when the roof was ripped from the Nashville Hotel" by a tornado; Both the Chicago and Detroit shows were recorded.

When the band next returned to the USA in September, five dates in after the Hammond, Indiana show the Internal Revenue Service impounded the band's equipment in lieu of an outstanding $8000 tax bill from this tour, prohibiting the band from continuing. Once the legal situation was sorted, the tour was re-scheduled for a month later.

The set was revamped from the Space Ritual set, with only three poems and three songs remaining. Two Michael Moorcock poems based on his Eternal Champion theme, which would later be used for Warrior on the Edge of Time, are worked into the set and there are five new tracks which would later be recorded for Hall of the Mountain Grill album.

Todays tune "The Watcher" is taken from The 1999 Party Tour,  The tune is Lemmy's first composition for Hawkwind, this being a spacious acoustic number with fuzz-bass. The lyrics were written from the perspective of someone from afar (perhaps God or an alien master race) watching the inhabitants of Earth destroy themselves through their own greed, enjoy!

White Manna - Acid Head

A new week, which in its turn meaning it is time to present a new "Record Of The Week" Hailing from Arcata, California "White Manna" play psychedelic space rock using a scorched-earth policy. The quartet may let you know where they're coming from and where they're going to take you with their song titles, but knowing the itinerary doesn't dampen the thrill of their excursion into stellar depths.

This album is filled with pretty heavy and dark psychedelia, wah-wah,  glorious monotonous spacey riffs mixed with influences from Stooges, that really grabs the listener on a dream journey where the road has no end. The vocal pieces are of very high standard and it's not unlike their label mates Wooden Shjips or as a Neanderthal version of The Black Angels. So plug in your in-ears, close your eyes and press play!

The Movements - The Death of John Hall D.Y.

The Movements, from Gothenburg, Sweden, released the first taste of their new album, Like Elephants 1.

Like Elephants 1 is a very exciting project because, as the title suggests, it is only the first disc of two (Like Elephants 2 is scheduled for release in early 2014). Working out two albums into a unique whole has been innovative, challenging and inspiring for The Movements. What is special about these two albums is that they not only stand strong individually but also create a whole, a kind of continuity, together. The Movements distance themselves from today’s fast-food consumption of songs pulled out of their context and instead dare to demand a greater commitment by the listener who, in return, gets to experience a collection of songs in their intended sequence.

The Movements possess great songwriting skills and has over the years toured most European countries. The Movements’ upcoming album, Like Elephants 1, is being released on October 25th and will be followed by gigs around Sweden and Europe.

The members of the band:

David Henriksson – vocals
Gustaf Gimstedt – keyboards
Christian “Krita” Johansson – guitar
Daniel “Dolly” Petersson – bass
Thomas Widholm – drums

The Movements's just finished thier new music video. The band has been inspired by garage rock from the '60s, space rock and krautrock. They collaborate with producer Björn Olsson (Håkan Hellström). The band was formed in 2002 and has been a frequent live bands ever since. A spacy detail is that they became the first space rock band that got their music played in space by the Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang.

Todays tune "The Death Of John Hall D.Y." is the first single taken from the forth-coming album Like Elephants 1 (out Oct 25th). Out on 7-inch vinyl and digital on September 27th. Video made by: Patrik Lager in 2013

About the tune:
We wrote the song The Death of John Hall D. Y. on tour when we read a book about a captivating human fate, who lived in the late 1700s and was the son of one of Gothenburg's wealthiest people. John Hall D. Y. inherited his father's wealth but not his mind or interest in business. - John devoted himself instead to music, art and literature and came to die penniless and homeless. The music video was filmed in Pilane, Sweden. The reason was that John Hall is said to have spent his time there.

My Sleeping Karma - Ephedra

Today we calm ourselves a little bit and the tempo goes down, everything becomes a little slower, you feel the Friday mood, a little cozy. Hailing from the Aschaffenburg region in Germany we find the band "My Sleeping Karma", the band started in 2005 as a side-project of the stoner rock band "The Great Escape". The basic idea was to create something which chills and rocks at once.

So back in March 2006 they began with recordings for their eponymous debut and when "The Great Escape" disbanded in September they could fully concentrate on the new project. It was the end of the year when the band finally offered the self-released album which holds a blend of psychedelic, space, stoner and post rock.

For the next album the band members still tried to take more attention for detail. They released "Satya" in in 2008 provided with some Buddhistic references, samples and female vocals - hypnotic, trippy spacey as well as explosive here and there. Both albums are available as vinyl in the meanwhile.

Vinyl!!
The bands fourth alum "Soma" follows the band’s own individualistic and atmospheric path towards enlightenment. Following the meaning of the album title ("Soma" is the intoxicating drink of the gods), the instrumental Psychedelic Groove Rock of the German quartet enhances the consciousness in a truly hypnotic and bewitching manner. The multilayered compositions move skilfully between heavy rock riffs and enchanting melodic parts with a high level of calmness and beauty. "Soma" is visually complimented by Sebastian Jerke’s artwork that is filled with astonishing details and beauty. "Soma" offers the perfect movie soundtrack to everybody’s own inner journey. Just be warned, you may never want to leave again! Psychedelic Groove Rock! Sometimes one creates a dynamic impression by saying something, and sometimes one creates a significant impression by remaining silent.

Members:
matte - bass
seppi - guitar
steffen - drums
norman - soundboard

Todays tune "Ephedra" is taken from the fourth release "Soma" released 1/10 - 2012.
The clip is filmed live @ Arena, Up In Smoke Vol. 3, Vienna, 2011-11-09

Ephedra - Sound Only

Karma is a term that comprises the entire cycle of cause and effect. Karma is a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do. The effects of all deeds actively create past, present and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain in others. In religions that incorporate reincarnation, karma extends through one's present life and all past and future lives as well.

The "Law of Karma" is central in Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, & Jainism. All living creatures are responsible for their karma - way of life - and for their release from samsara. As a term, it can be traced back to the early Upanishads.
The Law of Karma is taught in the esoteric Christian tradition, Essenian and later Rosicrucian, as the "Law of Cause and Consequence/Effect". However, this western esoteric tradition adds that the essence of the teachings of Christ is that the law of sin and death may be overcome by Love, which will restore immortality.

Karma is simply the golden rule: what you give out is what you receive - either in the same or in similar form. You reap what you sow - your actions create that which you do live out now, whether this relates to a past/future life situation or to the present date.

The process view of release from ego-consciousness through individual responsibility for the totality of action with its inherent karma can be contrasted with the soteriological view of mainstream denominations of Christianity: grace given by faith in the suffering, death and resurrection of a singular saviour.

Muse - The 2nd Law: Unsustainable

I like Skrillex, thats for sure,

But I found a band that changed a bit since I saw them in Stockholm couple of years ago. Muse..This tune is really good, remind me of Skrillex :D

In an interview with Billboard on 18 October 2011, the band's manager Anthony Addis revealed that Muse had begun recording their sixth album in London and that he expected it to be released by October 2012.  Bellamy jokingly described the album as a "christian gangsta rap jazz odyssey, with some ambient rebellious dubstep and face melting metal flamenco cowboy psychedelia" on his Twitter account.

Opening track "Supremacy" will feature Led Zeppelin-esque guitar riffs as well as strings and will not focus on a particular structure, being more based in progressive rock. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme wrote two songs for the album – "Save Me" and "Liquid State" – about his battle with alcoholism, with him providing lead vocals on both tracks. In a recent interview Muse reported Nero is helping on the track "Follow Me".

Muse is:
Matthew Bellamy on lead vocals, guitar, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, programming, production
Christopher Wolstenholme on bass, backing vocals, lead vocals on "Save Me" and "Liquid State", production
Dominic Howard on drums, synthesizers, programming, production
